Hey!!
So did well today...

dinner: salmon, lil rice, and a plain sweet potato (yummy) =)
salad
Water and tea

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches
Going w/ fam and friends to the movies tonight to see Eat, Pray, Love! Should be fun!

Saturday!!

Eat, Pray, Love was not what I expected. The food looked appetizing though...Mama mia! =p

Today was not bad. Glad it's still the weekend!!
Food:
cereal and milk
bread and pb as usual
yogurt
snacks: 2 apples, 2 nectarines, string cheese, 1 gum (prob. shouldn't make a habit of the gum thing...seems like I've been having it almost daily)
dinner: had it kinda early...my new pb (=p) and wheat bread and feta cheese w/ plain sweet potato on side
no salad (oops)
water and plenty of tea today (prob. could have had more water)

No exercise today = rest and relaxation =)

So today went to the grocery store and decided to buy a different kind of peanut butter. It has 1 g less sugar, less sodium, and no hydrogenated oils than my usual Jif one...so I figure it's better for me. I actually didn't mind the taste...more authentic (peanut taste). Just a little gooey. Was craving it for dinner so yeah...Does anyone else hate how food labels are set up? I still don't get everything! Like calories from fat? Also, it's hard sometimes to pick the "better" product b/c one is lower in calories than the other for example but the other has more sugar or vice versa...Anyway guess I'm done rambling for tonight! Be back tomorrow! =)

Sunday!!

Hey! I looked up calories from fat...apparently the higher the number, the worse...But I''m not too worried about that part of the label. I look at calories, serving size, fats (see if saturated/trans), cholesterol, sugars...protein and fiber are pluses! Food companies are SOOOO sneaky I swear! It's up to us to inform ourselves. I found out a couple days ago that a product can say it has 0 g of trans fat when it has less than 0.5 grams...how messed up is that?! Whatever...be careful guys!
Anyway, school starts soon...kinda nervous as usual. I always regain my sanity, and then school starts all over to take it away from me! Oh well, that's life I suppose!

Food today:
cereal and milk
wheat bread and my natural pb (could dance circles around Jif as far as I'm concerned) I do think I should store it upside down tho in the fridge...
frozen yogurt x 2 (had some later in the evening = no yogurt for me tomorrow to make up for it!)
snacks: 3 nectarines, 1 string cheese, 1 orange (no gum today =p oh and no apples either...so unlike me ha ha)
dinner: 3 beef kabobs (smaller though) and rice (lil piece of leftover salmon too)
salad
water and tea

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches
Let's just say I had a good appetite today! Family had ice cream after dinner, but I enjoyed my plain frozen yogurt. So there! =)

Monday!!

Tomorrow school starts...sigh
I WILL manage my stress better this time!
Ok:
cereal and milk
usual bread and pb
frozen yogurt (I know I was supposed to give it up today b/c had extra yesterday...WILL NOT have it tomorrow)
snacks: 2 nectarines, string cheese, 1 peach, 1 pear, 2 sticks of gum (on the bright side my gum ran out so won't buy anymore [mom bought it first time around]...lol)
dinner: lil rice and part of a meat and celery dish (it's kind of like a stew)
salad
water and tea

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, abs, stretches =)

The hard part is getting to the gym once school starts! I mean I'd love to go 6 days a week but that doesn't really work out! I better get at least 5 days! Keeping my fingers crossed...Good news: my jeans fit even better today! =)

Tuesday!!

Hey guys! Ok, school started today. It was ok I guess. Supposedly this is a hard semester. Shall see...On the upside, I have been at this for 2 wks at least. My nutrition professor from college said if you maintain a change for 2 weeks, it becomes routine (more likely to stick w/ it)...So doing great!

Food today:
cereal and milk
bread and pb
snack attack: 2 nectarines, pear, string cheese, apple (no gum ha ha)
dinner: was craving pb (God bless George Washington Carver =p) and cheese again so had wheat bread and pb and feta cheese (no sweet potato in the house...so had plain yogurt with it) lol
salad
water (I had at least 4 bottles of water in class alone!)
Bout to brew some green tea...

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches (I told myself not to be lazy today just b/c school started...)

Well, I think I'm doing well! The yogurt did end up in my belly after all! lol But that was because I needed something else w/ dinner since no sweet potato! Going to keep up the hydration! I find it really makes a difference in my energy levels...Anyway, gotta go study now! G'nite everyone!

Wednesday!!

Hey guys! Does anyone else not really like eating out (for lunch anyway)?? I mean I can handle dinner at restaurants, but I feel like the lunches or breakfasts at restaurants are more like dinners so u end up having dinner twice that day...u know? I ask b/c today I went out to eat w/ some of my classmates. I would have preferred my own lunch, but I went w/ them anyway. And I tried to order something healthy from the menu, and they made comments like I always eat healthy or whatever. It's irritating to me. I mean on the one hand I would like to just not go. But on the other hand it's good to interact and I could eat moderately. I just hate having to be more careful the rest of the day than usual b/c of having eaten out (I mean who knows what they put in our food at restaurants to make it tasty!)...I almost ordered something like them so they wouldn't say anything but then I reminded myself that I didn't care what they thought and it wasn't a crime for me to eat something healthy! It's times like this I wish I lived in CA where pretty much everyone is health conscious as opposed to the South!

Sorry just venting! Ugh!
Food today:
cereal and milk
yogurt
lunch (had to request special order): 2 hard boiled eggs and wheat bread and tomato slices (no pb today sadly)
snacks today: 2 apples, 2 nectarines, 1 peach
dinner: 1 and 1/4 pork chop (lol), 1 egg and some spinach (I know 3 eggs today!), 2 small slices of a plantain (sp?)
salad
water and tea

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches

Well, today was ok. Tried to make good choices at lunch. Still kinda upset. I just don't get why what others eat is other ppl's business. So what if I don't want french toast and sausage and scrambled eggs for lunch?? So sue me! And why can't restaurants have more healthy choices? They should have several!

Sorry I didn't move your diary earlier....I forgot that I was going to do that for you, lol OOPS!

Anyways, ok, so I moved it over to the diary section. Is this thread the name that you wanted your diary to be named???? If you want another name, this is what you do....Start another diary...you know how by now, right? Go to the diary section and click on "new thread" Then give your diary a name and start typing. If you WANT TO, I can then merge this diary to the new one.....but you dont have to....you could just close this one and start fresh with the new diary.

Just trying to give you options...do whatever your happiest with...even if thats leaving it the way it is :)

Don't ever let other people sabotage your diet. They probably do it because they know that they are making unhealthy choices and it makes them feel bad about themselves.
I often find that people don't like the fact that I am losing weight. I think the fatter ones feel jealous and the thinner ones don't like the fact that they can't feel superior any more.
You're doing amazingly well so just keep it up and forget about what other people say as deep down they all admire you for what you are achieving. :D

Thursday!!

Thank you Eyckmans!! You made me feel much better!! What you said made sense! I saw you listed Spain in your profile! I got a chance to go there and enjoyed it immensely! Have you tried the jamon or spanish tortilla? I made the tortilla and it was great (second time around I substituted sweet potato for regular)!

Korrie, thanks for your help! I think I'll leave it like this for now! Guess I'm not a newcomer anymore! ha ha

Hope everyone is doing well on the weight loss front! =)

Today was not bad. Was my off day from the gym (did not have the energy to be a gym rat today =p)!
Food wise, I did ok.
cheerio's and milk
yogurt
wheat bread and pb
snacks: 2 apples, 2 nectarines, 1 string cheese
dinner: wheat bread and pb and feta cheese and 1 plain small sweet potato on the side
yogurt again
water and tea

Well did well in the morning. Was hungry after school so made my quick dinner creation. Will have to skip yogurt tomorrow morning. Should probably have had a more nutritious dinner...Oh, eggs were amazingly cheap today...50cents for a dozen! Guess it's b/c of the salmonella! Think I'll prob. watch Project Runway or catch up on Top Chef then go to bed! Too sleepy 2 study! G'nite everyone!

I make tortilla all the time but the traditional way of making it involves lots and lots of oil so I now make a lighter version which isn't quite as nice but is still ok. I also do a much lighter version of paella now. The spanish way of eating is great as it's all natural food but far too much olive oil.
I live in Mallorca. Is that where you went?

Friday!

Sounds good! I didn't use a lot of oil either. Nope never been there. Been to Madrid, Toledo, Tarifa (sp?), Sevilla, and Granada. Would love to go back at some point in the future!

Well, today was pretty much like yesterday food (minus one yogurt and a substitution of a pear for a nectarine) and lack of exercise wise. Tomorrow will be a new day! Will do better! P.S. Know ate early!!

Saturday!!

Love the weekend! Goes by too fast!
Food:
cereal and milk
bread and pb
snacks: pear, 3 apples, string cheese
dinner: beef strips, chicken strips, one tortilla, few carrot sticks, and broccoli
plain yogurt
water and tea

Side note: Felt like crap earlier but once I went to the gym felt so much better! Exercise is a freaking confidence and happy pill. Reminds me of Witherspoon's quote about exercisers not being murderers because they're happy people (something like that)! =)

Did hr cardio and weights and abs (lil abs only) and stretches
Yay! Enjoyed a real dinner today as opposed to my breakfast for dinner food! =p

Sunday!!

Well, today was a good day food wise. But I'm still disappointed w/ myself. I mean I've been moody w/ my parents lately and don't really have a good reason why. It sucks that I try to be so nice with ppl at school and all and act so differently at home. I'll try to work on it...wrote it down specifically to hold myself to it! Ok worst transition ever but on to food...
Had usual cereal and milk today
bread and pb
snacks: 2 apples, string cheese, nectarine, pear
dinner: salmon and plain sweet potato (maybe those omega 3s will help w/ my lousy attitude)
salad
water and tea

Exercise (made me feel better): hr cardio, weights, abs, stretches
It was kinda funny today at the gym...there were girls next to me that were so obvious about getting the attention of the guys. They kept looking around while "working out" if you can call it that. Then in the abs room, they blasted the stereo so freaking loud! Freshmen! lol Whatever, I found it amusing...Anyway back to school tomorrow...gonna try to get stuff done earlier in the week so I don't stress out!

Monday!!

Hey guys! Feeling good! Don't think I ate much different than yesterday but here it is:
cereal and milk
frozen yogurt
bread and pb
snacks: 2 pears, 2 string cheese, 1 apple, 1 gum
dinner: salmon and plain sweet potato again
salad
water
Oh, have been taking a multivitamin and a magnesium pill lately too.

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches =)

Dinner was great!!! Yummm! I highly recommend salmon and sweet potatoes! lol Easy too! Just stuck the fish in the microwave for like 2 and half and flipped for another 2 and half minutes. Pretty much same for the potato (minus the flipping =p). Will try to go to the gym every day this week. Will be tricky though because we will get out of class later than I would like some days, but I must go to the gym! It will be closed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday b/c of Labor day and all. I love holidays, but I hate how our gym always closes around those times (Monday I understand but are Saturday and Sunday really necessary?)! Especially enjoyed stretching today...almost fell asleep! Don't know if that's good or bad! ha ha Anyway, gotta finish up some schoolwork and head to bed! G'nite guys!

Tuesday!!

Hey guys!! Enjoyed today. Mom and I talked late last night and feel so much better. School was decent today...was kinda sleepy though.
Food today:
cereal and milk
yogurt
bread and pb
snacks: 4 apples (take that Johnny Appleseed!), 1 string cheese, 1 gum
dinner: 3 pieces of chicken (not fried don't worry!), lil rice =)
salad
water

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches
Was crowded at gym today! The whole baseball team showed up! And might I add they weren't sore to the eyes! lol Can be intimidating sometimes! Just tried to do my own thing, but I wish I were more confident and smiled w/ eye contact. Maybe when I'm 60...sigh. Anyway, bout to catch Top Chef reruns w/ my dad! G'nite everyone!

Glad to hear that you're back on good terms with your mum . My daughter is sometimes moody with me but she always makes up for it afterwards and I try not to take it personally as I know it's not about me but about other things that are going on in her life and I'm sure your parents are the same.
You're doing great with your eating. Salmon is one of my favourites :)

Thank you Eyckmans for the support! You're right about not trying to take it personally...I'm sure she loves you very much (we're all that way even if we say or act otherwise)! =)

Had a good day. Kinda overslept though! Luckily, made it to class on time anyway. I am happy w/ my progress. My pants feel less snug and my stomach is slowly acquiring definition. I have been doing good w/ my gym time. I only have 2 more days to go and then I can rest a little when it is closed for Labor Day weekend. Not an excuse to eat crazy though!

Food today:
cereal and milk (didn't enjoy it too much b/c had to rush)
bread and pb (I am so in love with natural pb now! No way I could go back to the old jar!)
snacks: 4 apples, 1 string cheese, 1 gum [guess I won't need to see the doc for awhile..."an apple a day keeps the doc away" =) ]
dinner: lil spaghetti, 3 small meat patties, 2 hopefully salmonella-free eggs w/ spinach
plain yogurt
salad
water

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, abs, stretches
So proud of myself though. I am slowly getting more confident. I used to be terrified of doing abs in the aerobics room when a guy was in there, but now I go there and do my own thing! I have not yet conquered the task of maintaining a smile on my face w/ eye contact though (I'm talking about with people I don't know)! I mostly look away! But you know what? The world would be a much better place if everyone smiled more. And I would not get offended if some random guy smiled kindly at me...So I should do the same!

You should definitely try smiling at people, especially all those baseball players ;)the worse thing that could happen is that they won't smile back but you will probably make new friends and it would be much more fun in the gym if you get to know people. I was terrified of going to the gym at first because I thought that the young people there would find an unfit older woman ridiculous but somebody here on these forums pointed out that they would respect the fact that I am doing something about it. It's the same with you, you are a bit overweight but so what, at least you are there at the gym and eating better and anybody would admire you for that.

Thursday!!

You're right Eyckmans. I will work on it! Have to take small steps! I can do it! That team will be mesmerized by my smile! Ha ha! Just kidding! Hope I don't laugh next time I see them thinking about all this! =)

Had a good day today. Just sleepy as usual. Been going to bed late lately. Not good I know.
Food today:
cereal and milk
yogurt
bread and pb
snacks: plum, 1 string cheese, 3 apples, 1 gum (think I've been having the gum out of habit!)
dinner: spaghetti and 2 small meat patties (had a little too much spaghetti! Yum yum!!)
yogurt again (will skip it tomorrow!)
salad
water

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches
Did not feel like going to the gym today, but I didn't give myself a choice to back out! Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

congrats on all the hard work you have put in so far and well done for holding your resolve and going to the gym, that part has gotta be the hardest. Hope everything goes well. ta da! ^^
