How do you start a diary?

Hey xRougex! Interesting name! =) Thank you for your motivating message! Hope you are achieving your goals!! I think the hardest part is the eating (if I'm not careful and especially stressed)! I promise anyone can do the gym thing...just gotta start slowly and have willpower...u know?

Well, it's FRIDAY!!! Thank god! This week consisted of a lot of days of sleeping late and waking up super early which made me "dead" in class. Hopefully, I'll be able to sleep in tomorrow!! Well, on to food...
cereal and milk
wheat bread and pb
snacks: 4 apples (I should vary this I know...will go buy fruits!), 1 string cheese, 1 gum
dinner: my "creation" again...wheat bread and pb and feta cheese and a small plain sweet potato on the side
yogurt (too much I might add...really SHOULD NOT have it the next few days to make up)
water (and possibly a cup of tea in the near future) =)

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, stretches
Been feeling more confident lately. The gym was dead today. I actually like it more when there are some people there...it's motivating! Guess b/c it's Labor Day weekend.

My to do list:
Need to buy more fruits
Need to eat only "small" fruits for now
Need to not have yogurt for a few days
Need to not make gum a habit
Need to do abs at home (b/c the gym is closed till Tuesday) and hopefully squeeze in a lil activity (maybe dancing, swimming?) but rest is good too =)

On to Project Runway and my tea (unsweetened don't worry)...=)

Hey wanted to drop in and say that your doing a great job. I just read your entire diary and I think your progress so far is awesome. You're really sticking to it! Love that. Keep up the great work!

Don't want the weekend to end! Well, I didn't really meet my to do list today! It's ok though, can't be "perfect" all the time (if I could even call it that)! Here we go...

No formal exercise today...

Enjoyed dinner...more so the company of friends! Am more comfortable w/ this set of friends than the others...they respect my healthy decisions more...Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow! Actually felt cute tonight at the restaurant! =) Yay!
 
Yesterday!

Hmmm...let's see. Trying to remember what I had yesterday.
cereal and milk as usual
bread and pb (regular pb...ran out of natural)
yogurt
snacks: 2 apples, string cheese, 1 gum, few chunks of watermelon, cantaloupe, and few strawberries
dinner: collection of stuff...was at a party...rice, meat, blah blah
few sticks of carrots and celery
Didn't have enough water...easier to drink at school for some reason
No formal exercise again...gym opens Tues

Had fun at the party...possibly ate too much. It's ok though. I stayed away from unhealthy things. Skipped chips, cake, etc. Feeling better about my body...I'm not where I want to be yet, but my baby steps are working. =) Well, bye for now. Will update again tonight!
 
Monday!

Back to reality tomorrow...school. OK with my choices this weekend. Looking forward to going to the grocery store though and working out. Sometimes I eat when I'm not hungry just b/c of the time or whatever. I mean I don't eat "bad" but I'm not one of those ppl that only eats when he/she is "hungry." I guess whatever works though is okay. Anyway here we go...

my plain yogurt as usual
dinner: rice and 2 pieces of chicken and lil spaghetti on the side

How do you track your results? Just through visuals and how your clothes feel? Maybe you should take pictures of yourself each month/couple of weeks so you can see how your body is changing? It's great you're going to the gym... I'm way more lazy lol.

Tuesday!!

Hi Knyt! How are you? I think you're on to something...think I'll use tape measure or pics...something! You're right...it'll probably help and keep me on track! Thanks for your enthusiasm! lol =)

Well, I was feeling kind of sad earlier...felt sorta stupid today in class. I mean I'm not stupid, but sometimes I feel less smart than my classmates when it comes to physical therapy stuff (that's what I'm training to be by the way). I wasn't a tech or anything and some of them were. I just want to get over this lack of confidence and feeling of incompentency. Sigh At least I'm not alone (sure I'm not the first person to feel this way)...that's reassuring.

Did good on the food front today.

Stayed hydrated today...

Enjoyed my gym workout...got my mind off of silly school. Did cardio for hr and weights. Went to a grocery store today that I usually don't go to. Initially, I was frustrated that the person at the cash register was taking too long with the people before me, but I realized she was taking the time to talk to every customer as she worked. It made me realize how much we rush throughout our day instead of enjoying the moment...u know? Anyway, I packed up my bread and fruits, and she took one of the loaves out of a bag with fruits and put it with the other loaves, saying it would have gotten squished (sp?) the way I had done it. I just thought that was so sweet for her to take the time to do that (there were others in line too)! Anyway, I will try to go study now...having the motivation to do so is the hardest part, but I must! G'nite everyone!

Exercise: hr cardio, weights, abs...should have stretched though

Every time I see a commercial touting a new weight loss product it makes me shake my head. What it comes down to is discipline (with occasional moments of satisfying your "indulgent" cravings) and exercise. That's it...no magic formula. Wish everyone could understand that. Got kinda upset though today...there was a commercial by General Mills saying how wonderful their cereals were for kids b/c of x factor...yeah right!! Cheerios yes but not Lucky Charms and Fruit Loops! It sends the wrong message to kids and parents watching!! Why do companies produce and sell CRAP? Sucks...

School was better today! =) Tomorrow's Friday! Yeah! This week went by kinda fast!

Friday!!

Hey peeps! Well, had a good night...School wasn't bad. Going to pick up though the next few weeks...tests and projects coming up. But it's ok. I'm trying not to think about it. Anyway, here's what I had today:
cereal and milk
bread and feta cheese (gasp no pb at lunch today!!!)
yogurt
snacks: pear, 3 nectarines, plum, gum
dinner: spaghetti and lil bit of a beef dish
salad
water and tea

Exercise: didn't feel like it...almost prayed the gym would be closed. lol But sucked it up and did it and felt 100x better! Did hr cardio and weights.
I should never back out of going because, no matter what, I always feel better!! Sometimes, I don't even know why I'm so tired initially in the first place...b/c I'm just sitting in a chair all day...u know? It's weird. Anyway, ate dinner kinda quickly...I wasn't really savoring the spaghetti...was just eating it fast...was really hungry. And was thinking about the fruit and gum after. Side note: Whoever said working out reduces your appetite was mistaken! I actually always have an appetite (no matter what)! I think going to the gym helps in the sense that it takes up the time I could be at home w/ time to spare and possibly snack, so that's good. Went grocery shopping tonight...bought feta cheese and fruits! =) Regretted not having the pb for lunch today. My stomach did not take the feta cheese well...Just had it to show peeps at school that I can eat something other than pb...but who cares what they think in all honesty? Why should it matter if I love pb sandwiches and care to eat them all the time??
 
Saturday!!

Hey!! Well, did ok today. Could have gone better I suppose...

snacks: orange (yay! don't get enough of these!), 1 string cheese, 100 calorie pack of Natural Almonds (counted as 2 fruits), 1 apple, 2 pieces of gum (oops!)
dinner: this took forrrrevvvverrr...rice, 2 pieces of chicken, lil steak (my fave part is chewing on the bone =p)
salad
water and tea

Discovered the natural almonds today...Was looking on the internet for calorie packs of nuts and that one showed up so bought it at the store. Mom says it was kind of expensive...$2.57ish for 7 packs, each with 20 nuts. At least now I know 20 almonds equals 100 calories. So I can do it myself. I don't understand why the package said 1 g of sugar, but the ingredients only listed almonds! Weird! Oh well. I think I'll occasionally substitute it for my fruits. Was so hungry tonight, and it took forever to get dinner ready (was at a party)! It's weird though because after a certain point I could tolerate the hunger better (maybe I was distracted?). That's not to say that I didn't chow down once the food was ready though. But I think I did okay...

Exercise: hour plus cardio, weights, abs, stretches
I was hardcore today! Gotten to the point where I enjoy doing abs...if I don't my core doesn't feel "warm" like the rest of my body post exercise. Anyway, ran on the treadmill...I know I have the endurance to run around 25-30 minutes, but I don't want to hurt myself, like I have in the past (injured a tendon in my hip earlier and had SI jt problems as well a while back). I took it slow today...ran 5 minutes only (after walking first), cooled down afterwards, and biked for hr. Gonna build up my duration slowly...Feeling pretty good!

I looovvveeed the gym today!! Felt lousy b/c I was studying earlier, and then I couldn't take it anymore. Put new music on my ipod which was wonderful. I'm the kind of person that needs to listen to songs w/ a beat! Kept replaying the songs there...here they are in case anyone's interested:

I did my hr cardio, weights, and stretches and JUMP ROPED too! I felt a rush of endorphins and was breathing real fast after. My face was pink! Sorry guys...just excited! Wish every workout could feel like that! And I felt so confident afterwards...like I could outcompete any guy there...Ha ha! =p Think I can tackle my notes now!
 
Monday!!

Wow! I'm grinning now! Vampire, I think u made my day! lol =) Hope you're doing great!

Had a good day today. School was normal. Went to the gym. Wasn't quite the same as yesterday...I wish I always had that excited feeling u have after hearing a new incredible song. Unfortunately, u always get used to it! Oh well. Then after the gym heard a speech by someone who had been paralyzed from an accident. At one point, he said something very moving. He had asked his mother earlier why the accident had happened to him, and his mother said it was so others could reevaluate their own lives after seeing his. I mean he was so optimistic and he's only thinking about walking again. Meanwhile, I'm worried about some stupid project or test...u know? Puts things into perspective...how freakin lucky we are (will try to remember this)! After the talk came home starving! I'm pleased to announce that my tummy's happy now! =) Here we go:

snacks: 3 apples, 100 calorie almonds ("equal to 2 fruits"), 1 gum
dinner: lil rice, steak, part of beef dish, "kuku" (don't worry...these weren't huge portions)

I remember a few months back running to my new Deadmau5 CD. The rush through my entire body was absolutely amazing. My whole body felt like it was tingling. (I always appreciate a good DJ with a song that is very unique and creative.)

Had a good day guys...am slowly getting scared though about next week but am trying not to let it get to me. Food wise, I think I was decent today.

Skipped the gym today. The soles of my feet have been hurting since yesterday. Am really flat footed. Need a new orthosis and pair of shoes. Think I put too much pressure on them yesterday when I did the crosstrainer without using the lever arms (was trying to exercise and work on my balance at the same time)! Am happy that I've been kind to myself. In the past, sometimes I would be too strict and would snap eating wise...But tonight, I really wanted yogurt and really wanted to eat the whole sweet potato (hunger? cravings? maybe both?) so I did. I think we have to be kind to ourselves as long as we are smart about it and do what truly is best for our body. One author, talking about food, said something along the lines of you can't have Brad Pitt, George Clooney (sp?), and Matt Damon at the same time...so choose your indulgences wisely and choose differently the next time if you so desire. Personally, those men aren't my top choices...but just so you get the idea! lol =p

Man my soles were bothersome last night. I put ice on them before going to bed (maybe too long) and so kept feeling this fuzzy sensation in my feet. Same today...MUST buy shoes w/ good support tomorrow!!!!! G'nite peeps!

Might do a 5k tomorrow...will ask fam if they wanna go. Well, I hereby promise myself that I won't overeat or do anything this weekend to wreck my progress just b/c I have stress from school. Even if I become tired, frantic, and desire an easy pick me up...food will not be the "cure all." I will try my best, take my exams, and life will go on...
