How do you start a diary?

Hey guys!! Thanks for visiting! Sorry I didn't offer scones or tea! lol =) Jess, don't be too intimidated by the gym! I promise you'll get more comfortable over time (I'm still working on it too in the weights area)! =) lol about the gum...yep it's kinda become a habit now! I chew sugarless too. Hope it doesn't end up causing cancer down the line, like everything else! lol

Hey Ecky! Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while...the HOLIDAYS got me! lol Hope you're doing well!

Hi Anna! Nice to meet you!! It's funny about the deer...it was actually my first time trying deer meat. It was tasty! =) We got it from a friend...not sure if they have it in stores. Sorry to sound silly...is DB a type of gum? I've been chewing the watermellon trident. It says sugarless on it...lol sounds like a lot of us are just going around blowing bubbles! =p

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year's! I'm going to head over to a family friend's house to celebrate! Should be fun! Hope 2011 will have a lot of positive things in store and joyful "first" experiences! =)

Well, guess what? I was nicer at the gym today! lol I tried to look around more and I did ask for help with some of the weights. I think the secret was just having a positive mindset and reminding myself to not be too intimidated by the guys there. I also lowered my music volume in the weights section to feel more comfortable. Enjoyed the cardio session. Actually look forward to going now, for the cardio anyway, b/c there are so many handsome ppl there! lol =p
Eats:
cereal and milk
yogurt
usual lunch
snacks: 2 string cheese as usual, 2 small apples, triscuits, gum as usual (multiple), tangerine (didn't want the tangerine b/c I had already had too many snacks earlier but a friend brought it for me so...)
dinner: about 2 slices of pizza (were cut funny)
salad
water and lotta tea

See you guys later!! :auto:

Hello!! I could get used to this whole vacation thing! lol Haven't done anything intellectual wise, but I figure once school starts that'll be taken care of! The New Year's getting closer...gotta think about what I want to do differently this year as far as dreams and what not. Did go to the gym today...so weird...b/c the fact that I know there are always people at this gym makes me not want to skip it. Still wish there were more females in the weights section with me, but I'll survive.
...dinner: bread, pb, feta, and 1 plain sweet potato
salad
water and tea

Did fine eating wise today. Lotta gum as usual. Never made up for my extra yogurt or snacks here and there, but I think it's fine. Good news: my tummy looks flatter and one of my pairs of jeans which I had been hesistant to wear for a while because I knew they were smaller actually fit me and are a little loose! lol Feeling happy...See y'all later! :santa:

Hey! Well, did hr cardio today and abs and stretches. Didn't brave the weights section today. I WILL conquer my shyness!!!! Perhaps, that should be my New Year's resolution. I will have eye contact w/ random young people, and it will be okay. Nothing bad will happen. Life will go on. Eating wise, I did blah today. Had extra yogurt, an extra apple, and extra gum as usual. Sigh. Should probably not have those things tomorrow, but considering the fact that there will be a party and food will probably be served at 10 at night, I might have to have them anyway. Hope this New Year will be a good thing. I am thankful to be healthy and to have basic necessities but at the same time I wonder if we all can be truly happy. How will we know? Maybe it's unattainable. As they say in the movie The Pursuit of Happiness, our founding fathers didn't write about "life, liberty, and happiness..." They specifically wrote the "pursuit of happiness," meaning we're always fighting to reach it. Perhaps it's selfish to worry about being happy when I have a roof over my head and a supportive family (the list goes on...)! Will just continue taking what life gives and hoping for the best!

Hi, Happy New Year to you :)
My take on happiness is that to a certain extent it is up to us to make our own happiness. I consider myself a happy person and try to look for all the positive good things in life instead of dwelling on the not so good things. You seem to me by your posts to be an upbeat happy person and somebody that it would be nice to spend time with. I surround myself with happy people where possible. My best friends, the ones I spend most time with are all people that make me laugh and that I enjoy being with. I think that there are a lot of us living similar lives but it's up to us how much we get out of it. I know people with similar problems and similar good things in life to me but they are totally miserable people because they just focus on what is going wrong in their lives instead of what is going right.
I'm much older than you and it took me years to realize that I control my own happiness. Obviously certain things in your life are out of your control and after my mum died it seemed to drain the happiness out of me but my sister and myself decided that my mum would hate to see us sad so we made a conscious effort to enjoy our lives again and it is working.
Well I've prattled on long enough about that, it's the nostalgia of the year ending that's getting to me :) xx

Wow Ecky! Love the insight. I agree with you about us needing to find our own happiness instead of letting it come to us. And love the bit about you and your sister doing it for your mom's sake...It really is about the mindset I think. Hope your New Year went well Ecky! Should be a good year! I value your opinion, so thank you for always checking on me! lol I should return the favor more often! =) Take care missy!

...I didn't post yesterday or the day before, but I have been doing ok. Thank goodness all these holiday parties are over with. The stress of what to wear, eating late, etc...Went to the gym today. Still working on "project smile more often" and "project eye contact" at the gym! lol Enjoyed the workout. Figure it'll be really crowded tomorrow with all the new year's resolutions then it'll probably go back to a smaller crowd in a month or so!! Stick with it people! =)
Eats:
cereal and milk
yogurt
bread and pb
snacks: ok so had a lightbulb moment at the grocery store...decided to buy laughing cow cheese. Has 35 calories in a single wedge (less than the string cheese and it's still cheese so works for me! lol). So: 2 laughing cow cheese wedges (tasted good and took longer to eat than the string cheese lol), 8 triscuits, 2 small apples, 2 sticks of gum
dinner: lil rice and meat, 3 small "kukus," 1 small roll
salad
water and tea...bought a large water bottle that thankfully doesn't leak out the top when u use it...plan on drinking much more water these days to balance out the tea!

Have a good nite everyone!

Hey guys! Good day today. Took it easy...becoming the theme of my life. lol But that'll change next week when chaos resumes (aka school)! lol Anyway, did well on the eats front. Still had lotta gum as usual tho and perhaps could have eaten less at dinner but we had spaghetti! Yum! Had the laughing cow wedges again today...I think they could be useful on sandwiches and things or soups...I'll just stick to having them w/ my triscuits tho! =) The gym was good today...super super crowded though! Glad not all the machines were taken! And then after cardio went to the weights area and did a few weights, abs, and stretches. Miss the weights at the other gym tho...had a better idea of what I was doing. Was happier that there were more women with me in the weights area today. Not just grunting men! lol Well, off to bed. G'nite!

Laughing cow cheese...:drool5: Love that stuff!
Lol at the grunting men!

I can't imagine watermelon gum dude, but I did buy some tropical sugarfree extra to take on hols with me. Hope it's yum :) I normally stick to the minty kind.

Hey Jess!! Glad you enjoyed the grunting men bit! =p Haven't tried the "extra" brand's gum in a long time! Mostly chew trident. Should ease up on it tho! lol

Did ok today. Had extra yogurt and an extra snack though...darn!! Shouldn't eat most of my snacks in the morning and early afternoon b/c then I'm tempted to eat more at dinner knowing that I've used up my snacks for that day. Will try to do better tomorrow. The gym was good today. I wasn't as intimidated thankfully...feel more comfortable there. And the energy there is great. Wanted to buy hummus today from the grocery store but never got around to it (have never bought it before...know you can make it too but...). Will have to compare the different labels and see which brand of hummus is healthiest. Anyway, have a good nite everyone! =)

I love hummus. My son makes it and brings some over occasionally. I've now idea how many calories but he adds olive oil so it's probably quite high. Luckily he puts lots of garlic in it so that it is so strong tasting that I don't eat too much.

Hmmm I wonder if they have a kind w/o garlic. I think garlic makes food tasty, but would be bad to having during the wk b/c it's so strong! Will let u know what I find Ecky! =)

Usual day...Oh, my ipod wasn't working today. Hate that! Kept my headphones on anyway! lol But I hated not having music. Thankfully, at some points, a stereo was playing in the background. Have to charge it tonight for tomorrow. Has anyone heard DJ Earworm's mashups for 2009 and 2010? lol I know his name is ridiculous. But the songs aren't bad. I prefer the 2009 one actually. They are basically a compilation of the 25 top songs for their respective year. Anyway, stuck it out and did the cardio and what not. Miss the weight machines at the other gym!
Eats:
cereal and milk
yogurt
sandwiches
snacks: 1 cow wedge (last one unfortunately), triscuits, 3 small apples, gum, gum, gum...sigh
dinner: bread, pb, feta, plain sweet potato
salad
water and tea (My water plan is working! Glad I bought the leak-free bottle! =p)

So sleepy...think I'll crash earlier tonite. Ciao!! ;)

I think that you can buy it without garlic but living in Spain garlic goes into just about everything.

lol I can see that being the case! Guess y'all don't need to worry about any vampires roaming about Ecky! =)

Hola! Nice day today. You know when you crave something unneccessarily (not hungry)...well, today in the very early afternoon, after eating my usual food (had already had 3 out of my 5 snacks, cereal, yogurt, lunch), I still wanted something. Wasn't hungry but just needed the satisfaction of food. So caved in and used a 4th snack. Didn't work. So had to have my 5th snack, which I didn't wanna do b/c I might want it at nite. But fortunately that solved it! Plus, I distracted myself by going off to listen to some music. Probably didn't help that I was watching a cooking reality show on television earlier. lol I think sometimes we gotta remain firm in outwitting our own self...in other words, not cave in to a binge cycle or eating junk...recognizing our limits and following them. I didn't have any more snacks the rest of the day b/c I had already had them. I did however buy gum (ran out of it) after going to the gym and chewed some after dinner! lol So I think this whole hunger/craving thing can be managed as long as you are sneaky to your own body when needed! =)

Gym wise...the gym was great today. I finally ran after not doing it for awhile. It probably wasn't the smartest idea to run past 10 minutes after a long hiatus, but I couldn't help it. Had a few new songs on the ipod and the energy at the gym from other people was high as well. After the usual cardio, I did a little weights (and by little I mean it was awful...don't know how to navigate the stupid weights at this gym so just used 2 upper body machines) and then abs and stretches. I felt more comfortable today for some reason. There were some males in the abs area where I was but I wasn't really nervous or anything. I just focused on what I was doing and didn't mind them but felt fine. That's a good sign I guess. :driving: Well, gonna run now (to go to bed)! =) Nite!

Hey guys! Hmmm not much to report today. Usual cardio (ran as well), few weights, stretches. The gym is such a silly place...unnecessarily serious atmosphere! Eats were decent today. Went grocery shopping and stocked up on my laughing cow cheese, pb, and bought some hummus too. It was called Fountain of Health. Will let u know what I think of it when I try it tomorrow! =)

Hello! Lazy Saturday. No gym time today.
Eats:
cereal and milk
yogurt (2x)
usual lunch
snacks: 2 cheese wedges, 2 apples, triscuits, gummmm
dinner: 2 slices of homemade pizza, some spaghetti
salad
water (barely) and tea
Off to a recital! Take care!

Hi mate! I love the name, Fountain of Health. I'm a big fan of hommus and bahbaganoush too. Yummo! Great to see how well you're doing, you're making me feel slack - I haven't exercised in 2 days! Am off to do some this afternoon though :)

Hey Chubette! Cute name...makes me think of a cherub for some reason! Sadly am not drinking enough water...too much tea and not enough H2O. But shall tomorrow! How are you?

Hey Jess! What does bahbaganoush taste like? Haven't heard of it! Ah am proud of u bout the exercise! lol am trying to squeeze as much in before school starts to mess it all up (hopefully not)!!

Today was good. The weather was awful though. One of those days where the sky looks miserable and you want to stay indoors. Did sneak away to the gym though. Ipod didn't play again. Darn thing! I hate that its light doesn't work anymore...so I never know if it's charged or not.
Eats:
cereal
yogurt
sandwiches
usual snacks
dinner: lil spaghetti (leftovers), lil rice, meat and celery stew
salad
water and tea

Oh, last night after the recital I had one string cheese and one more slice of pizza. Sigh. Was hungry. Am happy tho...could have been worse. Off to bed! Nite everyone! Will check in on some journals soon hopefully! =p

Sounds like you are doing good....I love Laughing cow cheese (mini babybel), but that pizza is habit forming, lol

Hey guys! School tomorrow...sigh. Well all good things come to an end! lol Had to buy uniforms today and haven't quite reached where I wanted to be, but it's ok. I'm smaller now than I was when we first got out for break. So it's ok. Went to the gym today. Usual cardio. My ipod worked today! Yay! Eats were decent. Dinner was absolutely yummy! Mom made salmon with slices of sweet potato and plantain (sp?) on the side. The fish she has been making is so good lately. She says it's because it's fresh. Anyway, gotta go to bed earlier tonight. Hope I'm able to fall asleep...been sleeping late the entire break! Take care everyone! G'nite!
