Or you could not pay money for some crappy diets, or follow any diets except for eating the foods that your body needs (read up on that) and exercising to burn off the foods that you have eaten and a bit extra to lose the weight at 1-2 lbs a week, for a cheaper and safer way.

Good luck.

Maybe..

So this diet may be too good to be true.. but has anyone had any positive results as far as losing the weight. I've heard alot of negative responses. Even if you lose 10 lbs, then start dieting normally, it's a nice jumpstart!

Let me know!

18in4

Good morning to all... I am another wondering what the 18in4 program is? Has anyone out there been successful? I am curious if it would work for females better than males and does age have anything to do with it. I really need to lose a few b/4 Thursday's trip. Can anyone help me out there? I am going on an interview and I have gained a few pounds since losing my job... PLEASE...[/FONT]

This is my first post, and I would like to share my experience with this 18in4 diet. Today is the end of "DAY 2" on this diet, and I'm miserable. The meals are bland but anything tastes good to me with lemon juice sprinkled all over it (lemon juice and white vinegar are the only two options for seasoning food on the 18in4 diet). The meals seem like a fair amount of food and they leave me full but about an hour and a half later, I'm absolutely starving.

What sucks about diets like this is that you have no freedom - you have to follow the exact plan step by step, as opposed to on a low carb diet for example, there are certain things that you can eat as much as you want to fill you up when you have those cravings.

I'm not going to e-mail anyone the plan but I will tell you that it mostly consists of bland vegetables (green beans, squash, tomatoes) and the occasional bit of fruit, along with a small amount of meat. Basically, there are no carbs or anything to give you energy, which is why the diet demands that you drink at least 1 cup of black coffee each day (which is disgusting and makes me feel sick, but I drink it anyway). And every morning, you are allowed half of a grapefruit, which winds up being the food highlight of the day.

Since it's only Day 2 for me, I can't really pass judgment on how well it works. I haven't weighed myself but can't see any noticeable difference. If I don't lose weight I will indeed try to get my money back, but I'll continue to have faith. In the mean time, I have become so obsessed with food that it's all I think about. I'll report back again at the end of the diet, but if I don't lose any weight, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because it leaves you absolutely miserable.

Done!

I couldn't wait for my friend to get back so I purchased this diet on Ebay for $9.99.. but it was called the 15 in 4 there.. I compared the diet info though and it was exactly the same thing so I would think I would have gotten the same results either way.

First of all, I didn't lose 15 lbs.. but I was literally getting NO exercise. I'm on summer break and I've basically been at home sitting all day. So I didn't even get the "walk around campus" or "go up stairs" exercise. The diet says not to exercise, but I think that just means don't go to the gym or go out and run..

The food is pretty bland, but it's not intolerable unless you absolutely despise the specified item. You eat mostly green beans, butternut squash or zucchini, and tomatoes.. and you get to eat an apple every other day.. There's a little meat for dinner and for breakfast you can eat grapefruit. Personally, I can't stand squash, so I had trouble keeping that down. But the other stuff was fine. The amount you eat per meal seems small but it actually fills you up and each meal lasted me a good 3-4 hours. But again, this was probably due to my lack of activity.. if you're constantly on the go, the meal most likely won't last you as long.

I really don't know what I can say about this diet other than you will lose some weight as long as you follow it precisely and get SOME activity in. Like a lot of other diets, the more you weigh, the more you'll lose. I lost 7 lbs in the four days which isn't bad. I'm satisfied. I wasn't really expecting to lose 15 lbs in 4 days so this was nice.

The diet isn't worth $30 or what not, but I would recommend getting it on Ebay if you want it. It's $9.99 there and I think that's fair for the amount you can lose in 4 days.

I saw that too...it looked like heaven!! I emailed him to ask about it, and he said:
"Its a chemical based diet in the sense that the foods you eat cancel each other and speeds up your metabolism and provides a body cleanse".

But i think it's mainly to do with water weight, as a lot of diets that promise really fast weight loss actually work on the scales, as you lose a lot of water weight, but as soon as that is replaced, it goes back up again!

I think the slow steady weight loss is the best, though it's the most irritating!! I would love to be able to lose 18lbs in 4 days!!

When someone loses like 5 pounds in 2-3 days, I'd say it's water weight.

18in4

I am going on my third day of this diet and I have lost 8 pounds so far. I agree that this is probably all water weight, but what it has done for me is that it gave me motivation. It is a jump start program which I believe motivates and cleanes your body to continue on with a longer diet program that will change your eating habits. It gives you discipline to continue. I do not believe it is healthy to be on it for more than 8 days. But you are eating veggies and protein and fruit and drinking tons of water which is very good for you. Since this diet is very low calories for the time period you are on it I believe you should not exercise because I believe the foods and low calories will not substantiate working out. After the jump start and a good diet of proportioned high protein foods, fruits and veggies and exercise would be ideal. If people are looking at this diet as a way of eating for life and a miracle cure, it is not for them. Try it only as a jump start to motivate and give you discipline to go on a good and healthy diet.

try it out

I am another one who had to try it out...I have been on weight watchers for a year and am struggling to lose my last stone so i paid for this diet to see what it was like. I weighed myself this morning and after 2 days lost 6lbs. I only have a stone to lose to my target weight and didnt think I would lose anything with this diet but I have and have been feeling fine. Not felt hungry or had any headaches. So if you want to give it ago then why not.....:jump:

Newly Chubby

I am new to this forum and interestingly enough, I found it by Googling 18 in 4. I am not interested in that diet (although I am interested in losing about 20 or so lbs), but I am happy that it steered me to this forum! :) I gotta get me one of those adorable tickers!!! I used them when I was pregnant, but never thought about using them for weight loss ... how adorable!

Like most of you have said ... 18lbs in 4 days can't be healthy, unless it is via lipo, where the fat is simply sucked out of you. LOL Amyway, I am happy to have found this form adn will venture around to see what other threads are out there and hopefully get on with my weight loss and find some support from others out there. I have never been seriously overweight ... until I had my 2nd child. I am 37 years old (but no one realyl knows that. Jajaja.) and my daughter is almost 10 months old and I am just sick with myself because I have no will power. Geez!! Where does it go?!?!?!

OK, wrong thread for this sort of rambling, right? I'll go find the whiner thread ... that's for me!!! I've last denial, anger and now I must be in the self-pity stage of the 'realizing you're fat' acceptance program. Hmmm ... I often joke with my sister that I have reverse anorexia ... I think I am thinner than I really am.

Oh ... I did the fat loss for dummies (love the name) diet for a jump start a couple of years ago and it really worked for me. It certainly isn't as fast as this one claims to be, but you eat real food (and get real seasonings, too). LOL I might do it again to get started ... it is another one that takes the guess work out.

I said I was going to quit rambling, didn't I. (I always got Cs in conduct in grade school from talking too much!)

Good luck to everyone!!!

May you drop a dress size ... and you tone those thighs!
