Hajni's Diary: I will do it because I can

Hajni,
I just stopped in to say "HI" and see your pictures. You are beautiful! Congratulations, you motivate me!
Cathy

Hey Haj~
So sorry to hear that you are suffering thru a UTI. The only one I ever had was the most excrutiating pain I had ever felt "down there".
Hope yours clear up soon.
Keep up on chugging along. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!!

So where's the recipe for the apple pita?

I have a uti right now too - dang! But mine isn't so bad as yours. I can live with it with some tylenol. I meant to get some cranberry stuff (either you can drink it or take it via a supplement) and it seems to help.

Don't let it get too bad though - cause you could end up with a kidney infection.

It is a lot better since I was OD-ing on Vitamin C and cranberry extract tablets yesterday. Literally I had like 15 of those, since it is water soluble it can't make me sick. The pain is a lot tolerable today also, took some tylenol (thanks for the tip, why didn't I think of that?) and put heating pads on so it is managable. Hate going to drs, no time and no patience.

Thank you Cathy!! I am glad it helps to motivate others!! I do have to say I really posed for this picture so it came out a little better than the real reflection in the mirror... :rotflmao:

HI Tammy!!
I keep changing my peanut butters and my favorite is Smucker's reduced fat and it unfortunately has 200 cal/ 2 tbs. Also just noticed on my ff milk that some of them are 80cal/cup and some of them are 90 cal/cup ?? So now I actually have to check food labels again even that I thought I know the calorie contents by heart!!! LOL
(oh and if it would be allowed I could eat the p.butter out of the jar by the gallon ... :rotflmao:)
I have my rest days on Saturday due to the fact that I am too busy running around to get a real exercise in.!! :)

Glad to hear your feeling better- I don't know how I missed it before!

Just curious, have you always been a vegetarian or made the change for health/diet reasons?

Very good question!! When I met hubby in 1999 he was a vegetarian. He is a vegetarian for environmental/health reasons. I was never a big meat eater either. He asked me to try for his sake for a month or two to be a vegetarian and see if it is something I would be able to do. Well I gave it a try and it has been 8 years and I never looked back. Since then of course I got educated on it and now I stand behind 100% for the environmental/health aspects of it. But of course being vegetarian does not necessarily means healthy either. I can write a book on that!!! It took quite an effort at the begining to learn protein foods and make sure we are getting enough nutritients.. etc. And I am still getting our family introduced to new vegetables/fruits/foods... :rotflmao:
At one point we tried vegan (no animal products, no dairy, no honey, no eggs..etc) and I found it too hard and gave that up.
We just recently got a whole series of blood-work done. We both are extremely healthy (drs words) but my DH's cholesterol is borderline. He does eat a lot of junk foods and drinks soda... he is cutting back lately but he has a way to go yet. He thinks because he is skinny he can eat whatever and whenever but I think it slowly catching up to him... It was quite a shock to everybody when I balloneed up to 205, since all of them thought vegetarians are all skinny.Well, I must be the exception to the rule. Ice-cream is my downfall mainly...
And normally I don't eat stuff that are on my menu especially the frozen items but I find it very hard to track my calories with home-cooked meals. So I cook for DH and DD they are well provided for and I eat the quick stuff for convenience. Planning to change that soon once I get to my maintainance.
Now I wrote a book here!!! :rotflmao:
That's enough of me right now.

ok, so last night DH said I have a flat tire. he was working on it (or so I thought) but turned out that he needed to do things this morning with it as well. so I was late for work. I have a cute little doghnut to ride on!! Anyway, it was pretty low on air so i had to go and pump air in it. After I am done doing that I realize that my other tire is almost totally flat!! What a morning. we had an appt. on Friday to get new tires, couldn't this waited!!
Good thing is I am only like 7 miles from work so I made it here and I will make it back to home and drop the car off at the shop tonight. It doesn't help that DH's and my combined knowledge about cars lingers around zero.
I might have to miss the gym tomorrow because of all this...which makes me pretty mad, I always look forward to my boot-camp class!!

I picked up a magazine called oxygen last night. And it had a bean recipe in there - looked pretty easy.

I should post it in the recipe section.

Hi Hajni...do you recommend any vegetarian websites? My daughter who is 12 has decided about 4 months ago that she wanted to be vegetarian. Actually we were driving home from Tennesee and we passed a large semi truck with cattle in it. I said out loud "Oh, those poor cows". My girls realized what I was saying and my oldest decided then and there that she does not want to eat meat. I told her I am fine with it and I will support her as long as her diet is kept healthy. I told her she needs to eat other sources of protein and to eat more vegetables in order to get a good intake of nutrients. I was just wondering if you knew of a good website that has ideas and recipes. Thanks Haj!

Hi Cathy!!
I admire you for supporting your daughter's decision!!! And I always get so exited about other fellow vegetarians!!! I sent you a PM since I was not sure about rules of mentioning sites and brands I cook with on WLF. Great sources of protein are dairy products and meat substitutes as well!!
Good luck to your family and your daughter in this new path!!! Let me know if there is anything else I could help you with.

hi Haj!
I was a vegan for 3 and 1/2 years! Then I went to Hawaii 3xs and the South Pacific and started eating fish. But I still won't touch land animals! I HAVE been having dairy, though.

Have a great day today! :D

Wow vegan for 3.5 yrs!!! I think i only lasted about 2 weeks I just could not do it. There are a lot of soy products we like and continue eating on a regular basis besides eating dairy. I like soy ice-cream no problem, but soy-milk I can just not drink. I cook with it though. Hubby is more "veganish" than I am. He eats soy sour cream (that thing is just nasty..), soy cheese and only drinks soy milk. But we both love regular cheese and yogurt . We don't eat fish. Some environmental reasons behind it but mainly for me is I just don't like the taste.
I am lucky with our daughter, she is not a picky eater and eats both soy and dairy versions of foods. She is raised as a vegetarian now we'll see if it is something she will want to continue...

Also WW chocklate cake 80 cals did ya only eay 1/2 or is there a NEW 1 out??I have tried all their deserts and the ice creams I have found lower cals in but not in cake lol,wow :drooling: again :rotflmao:.
Way to go on all the exersicing!!!!!you really push yourself I have been to a certain point but I know I can do more at times.Have a nice day Tammy

Ok, so I am 1 lb down from Sat. and still have two more days to go!! Even if it stays that way I am happy.
I can taste victory.. i am pushing myself because I know how close I am!!. As of this morning I am only 2.4 lbs away from my goal!! How cool is that?
I am modifying my goal weight though after I reach 145. After pregnancy my body just changed which is natural, small price to pay for a healthy baby!!! So things have shifted around on me resulting in clothes NOT fitting me the same as they were at the same weight before I had my baby. So I am thinking another extra 5 lbs loss will take care of it and also will give me some wiggle room. Planning to maintain between 140-145.. or that is my dream. I have never been 140 (well not since adulthood LOL) and I would be ecstatic to get there.
It would be great to join the christmas challenge but since I am so close to my goal, I am not sure i would be helping my team..and it would not be fair.

OMG your doing so well! Your gonna hit goal anyday now! I feel like such a slacker since I have been at ticker weight for like a month now.It can be that I do feel comfy at this weight-but I just want to get a little leaner and toned.
Your an inspiration Hajni!!!
