I actually really went out for three days running
The first week of the August challenge hasn't really gone to plan. I've been eating really healthily, with just a few baddies, and I have only lost a pound. Humph. Hoping that next weeks loss will make up for it, as it sometimes does.
I am going to aim for three 1000 calorie days over the coming week, and 4 1300 calorie days. I know that's low, but I need it. If starvation mode is only caused by loss of muscle mass, and it is possible to build and maintain muscle in a calorie deficit, then there is no reason that my metabolism will go down because of it. I really really really want to lose 16 pounds of fat in the next 8 weeks, and I know it will be harder to reach the 2 pound a week mark when I am close to being a healthy bmi, which is why I want to get it kicked off to a good start.
I am due another personal consultation at the gym, so I think I will book it for two weeks time, and work my arse off until then to build as much muscle as possible, and get as healthy as possible. Maybe it will turn out that I have put on a few pounds of muscle (which burns 150 calories a day without doing anything). That would be fab. I don't mind getting more muscley than I eventually want to be (although that's most probably not possible). I am only on a four month contract (another 3 months to go), so it will just waste away after then.
There is a girl on here who has done brilliantly... Her name is shawnnam, she's in the before and afters, and I read her diary.... Exercise and weight lifting were her priorities. She reached the half way mark, and had a really bad time when she split up with her boyfriend and didn't really try with the diet any more... But she just carried on losing weight without even trying... Her increased muscle mass probably helped a lot with that. You should see her before and afters..... WOW!!!!
Women only have a certain amount of muscle they can gain anyway, because they don't have enough testosterone to bulk up. So I doubt however hard I try I will end up looking like Frank Bruno, or whoever is a good boxer this decade lol.
It just makes sense to me- If I can gain 6 pound of muscle in the next few months (which is really the highest possible without a calorie slurpus), when I go back to uni I will be burning and extra 300 calories a day (2100 a week=1/2 pound

) without lifting a finger. I think I will do 50 sit ups, and 24 barbell squats in the morning, and ride my bike to uni, which will help maintain it.
