4 hole.jpg

"magic belt" update... today i didn't even realize i was on hole-4 until i took it off.
i can't help but smile every time i hear the phrase.... "stubborn belly fat".

there is no overnight solution ... it took time to get there.
... and time is the only thing that will get you back to normal again.

& perseverance & you have lots of that. :)

so i know this isn't a concern to Rob, but before i left to go over to the store this morning i took a shower, looked in the mirror, thought about shaving and then thought.... why bother. now i'm thinking about the female corollary... i wonder how the lipstick industry is doing these days.

That's a lovely photo of your nephew and his wife. Sad that you weren't there to celebrate it - maybe they were happy with the lowkey thing. It can be a lot of pressure.

Re: lipstick. You can still take the mask off to have a drink or eat, so I'm sure it's still doing okay! I actually think the skincare/makeup industry is probably doing very well as people who can't spend money on eating out or holidays and that are still working fulltime can just spend it on those kinds of things now.

only a little nick, but i knew it was just a matter of time before i broke in the new knife...

at least that's out of the way now... :)

for some reason i've managed to avoid any major broken bones, but i have pushed the inherent healing power of the human body close to extreme a few times. it is an amazing machine.

worst part about these cuts... similar to a razor and doesn't have much of a natural tendency to stop bleeding without a little help. i was trimming fat off some chicken thighs ($0.97/lb...!) and the dumbest part is that it wasn't even while i was actually try to cut something.... just a momentary mishandling faux pas. overall i've got to say these knives were/are definitely worth it. i can now do things i used to try with sharp, but definitely duller knives with the slightest amount of pressure.

went though my first resharpening session before i started.
definitely a talent that's going to take a bit of time to fine tune.

if you gift this knife, i can see the point, but now i'm wondering what to do with this box.
i sure wish manufacturers would offer a bare-bones/ bubble wrap packaging option for a few $$ off.

i thought i had lost this photo, though it is a scanned print so i'm sure that's still somewhere around.
same BMI, ~25 years ago... maybe ½" taller.

aside from preferring black "coach" shoes these days, can't say my wardrobe has changed much. i still have the jacket, though it's a bit more tattered. i know i lost my original Tilley around that time, so it's either #1 or #2. a neutral T & jeans is about all you need to fit into SoCal pretty much anywhere. i was thinking about buying a suit in case one of my nephews got married, but that plan pretty much went up in flames a few weeks ago.

i swear to god... if someone can find a recipe NOT on the internet, i'd like to see the "404" page...!!
Pumpkin Shortbread Cookies
i don't know about shortbread this year, though. since my aunt has passed away, the incentive is a lot closer to zero.

plus, this...

i wanted to have a few lbs i could play with, but that idea seems even less likely... :(

i had two chicken breasts and 4 legs to cook up by today... too much for one pan, so with plenty of room left over in two pans, i decided to try roasting some carrots. i was sort of surprised... they turned out close to perfect for me. tender, but still firm. i thought they'd turn into mush. also some cut up onions in there. about 90 minutes to roast, but i doubt if it took more than 10 minutes of prep.

roast loosely covered with foil at 380° until 165° internal temp (about 70 min), then finish uncovered at 420° for 10-15 min.
carrots were in there the whole time.

less than two hours including the cooking time,
enough chicken for at least 6 meals, though carrots might not last that long,
nevertheless, i'm counting this as fast food... :)

this is my diary, so i'm going to be political a moment for my mental health.

i watch a number of news channels including CNN, MSNBC, FOX and a few foreign stations including BBC, some French broadcast which comes in English i can't think of at the moment and even RT (Russian TV) very rarely. i normally limit my watching FOX because i have a problem hearing so much misinformation. this is not saying other stations do not edit clips to make a certain point, but those are rarely done to make the edited material deceptive. i've been visiting FOX more recently feeling a bit less concerned about next week and trying to treat them more like a comedy version of the news so i can keep my sanity.

today i heard the FOX broadcasters put up a stat from September with a poll showing the favored candidate on "Law and Order". it showed Biden ahead of Trump by two points (49% to 47%) but not before the broadcaster added, "and this was from a September poll ... surely with the rioting going on in Philadelphia, Biden's numbers must be lower." ... and just left it there.

it took me less than a minute to find a Newsweek Poll from nine days ago which put Biden's lead over Trump at 50% vs. 44% on the same question of Law and Order. a six point lead ... not September... about a week ago. surely FOX had this information yet they couldn't even find a poll old enough to even get Trump higher than only trailing by two points. think about it... the broadcasters could not be that dumb. they are knowingly deceiving their audience of Americans while merely trying to please an audience of one.

sadly i know from when i used to visit my aunt in Texas, her cable provider does not offer MSNBC and only offers CNN Headline news, not their regular CNN broadcast... only FOX is offered as a station with any political commentary. Trump TV is all they can get there. it would take some effort to discover the truth, so i only fault the cable subscribers there for their misplaced trust due to simply being lazy. about the cable provider, i've heard about state controlled media, but usually referring to 3rd world countries and certainly not anything like i see what's going on today in this country. Radio Free American... might be a concept to revisit. luckily satellite broadcasting is making some inroads there.

the major stories overall on FOX today? ... rioting in Philadelphia and alleged corruption & bribery among the entire Biden family.
every other station, ... the pandemic and the election.

"like" if you like, don't if you don't, but please, no comments regarding this post.
if you want to vent, start your own diary.

cheers.

not sure if i've seen any fallout from this past week... yet. too much stress and i've been hitting 12/12 fasting days pretty much all week. as long as i watch my intake and don't "overindulge" ... i can get away with a 12/12 day once in a while without even a blip but this is the first time i've strung together more than two in a row.

i've gone OMAD the past two days in an attempt to curtail any fallout from my binge (my definition) week. ... or maybe i should have called it a binge weak ... :)
