freeze dried strawberries turned out amazing (i had one... :))...

IMG_2373.jpg

at first you think you are biting into a piece of packing foam, but then this amazing taste hits.
i'm sure over 90% of the weight is gone. the apples are just as good. soooooo light...!

the chili turned out ok, but there were spots that didn't complete dry.
i got some tips from other users and i'm sure the next batch will be 100% successful.

going to rehydrate the underdone pieces tomorrow and see how it reconstitutes.

They look amazing . I was in Scotland in Feb .just before lockdown can't wait to go back

a multi-day fast often yields anomalous readings, so i probably should take this one with a bit of optimistic suspicion...

about 36 hours now and as i remember from the last time i did this, the 2nd day is easier than the first. not sure if i'll keep it up for another day... i'll see how this one goes.

Whenever I read about how you do IF & your experiments with it I am really envious. You are so much in control & are so lean. Your body must love you :)

interesting day today.... i so much want to try to rehydrated chili, but i really haven't been hungry. i have cheated twice, though... those strawberry bits are about ¼ of a strawberry. twice when i passed by and had one...

they're supposed to last 25 years ... i'll give them a week... :)

i looked in the fridge around 7pm and there were just too much food that would have turned... i didn't really plan on a multi-day fast... sometimes it just happens... i had a stirfly dinner around 7:30... so the fast ended at about 51 hours.

with my scale in my garage/ basement. for a few months winter weigh-ins will include a 1 lb sweatshirt increase ... :)

i comment on a MeWe cooking forum occasionally. i'm still shaking my head at this one....

the only response that mentioned the portion size mused that it wasn't the steak that was too big,
... it was that the plate was too small.

For a split second I thought you were posting a pic of your own dinner and I was so grossed out. I quite like meat but... What a sad pile of gray and mush. I hoped it looked better irl and tasted great so the cow didn´t die in vain. Also: the steak looks like it´s about to fall off onto the tile floor or whatever the plate is sitting on.

i think i may have lost that hen... this time of day i usually see 168, but for the past couple days i've been seeing 165/66.

11.18.20..166.0.jpg

have to consider this might be 100% due to the 2-day fast i did last week and this will probably disappear the first time i shift my diet. i think i could go down 5-6 lbs... i've done it before, but the effort to stay there vs 168 just doesn't seem worth it.

hunger is so weird... the past two mornings i wasn't just hungry, i was pain-in-the-empty-pit-of-my-stomach hungry. i really didn't even have that much to eat on hand... well, fast, anyway... and frankly i was more lazy that i didn't even want to get up and go downstairs to the kitchen. i eventually went out to the store... paper products are sparse... AGAIN... *sigh*. now 2-3 hours later, not hungry at all... off for a walk to find a Thursday newspaper. ...go figure.

hard for me to pick a favorite... both strawberries & apples are great.
today i'm adding bananas to the mix...

in the fridge for a while... it helps a little to drop the temperature a bit.
the first step in the freeze dryer is to bring the temp down well below freezing.

not sure if i'll ever break even, but yesterday at the market i saw a package of freeze dried bananas & apples (1.2 oz) for $3.50.

*sigh* ... 3rd nick ... oddly, not one has been when i was actually cutting something.

oh, it was from my insanely sharp knives, but all my flubs have been from when i'm cleaning them or just handling them. somehow the heel of the blade just grazed my finger. the cut is smaller than it looks, but those cuts are hard to keep closed. i've been thinking about getting some of this...

Using Super Glue on Cuts

I just clean it up an stick thin slivers of plaster over it to keep the edges together. Wound superglue sounds like more fun :D

but just to highlight a bullet point in that article, it has to be a clean cut as from a knife, razor or even a deep paper cut. the sort you might use a butterfly bandage to hold the sides together. i'm not sure about the chemical difference, but the stuff you should use for wounds is not the same CA adhesive that you'd get from Home Depot.

i'm not sure why i typed apples, it was this...

made with real fruit ... lol.
i'll have to weigh the current batch of strawberries, bananas and a few apples.
