Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

Tom,

You have been doing great! I hate rest days soo much, and I totally eliminated it. Now I have light intensity days. I have to get out and do something, do anything, if its walking, cutting the lawn, crawling, running after the neighbor's cat, anything!

I am so glad you are so excited and anxious to get back into the gym! :) That alone, is an awesome and healthy life style change.

Adam, there's a method behind this madness, which I accept. Sometimes you need to take a step back in order to take two steps ahead.

Don't fret weight this week. I know that's easier said than done, but still.....

Listen to the man. If (and when) you are man enough to do all the exercise and count all the calories, you are man enough to have this rest period according to plan. Without fretting.

I'm trying, I'm trying . . . I know when I get back into my routine, things will get better.
---
But when that happens and I go to the gym, and have a really hard workout, it gets me back in the psychological "groove" so to speak.
---
I doubt all that makes any sense at all to anyone but me though! :)

It makes a lot of sense to me.
That's the effect of the endorphins. And the :( over the number on the scale (one day!) is the withdrawal talking. If you're a coffee drinker and have ever gone off coffee cold turkey, you recognize the feeling from that as well. Feeling bad about yourself, incomprehensible waves of sadness, depression even..

And, to conclude, I knew you'd be the sensible one, the one who can actually cope with this situation. Keep up the good work! Your dog deserves it! :p

Those 3 frowny faces wrenched my heart--don't sweat it, Tom. That's the downer of weighing everyday (me too). It will go back down, just wait and see! Enjoy and relas on your week off, now--I will be exercising for us both in the meantime.

Ahhh Tom, Don't sweat the small stuff my friend, the scale gods are being mean this week, that's all!!!! I'll hold a BON FIRE in your honor at my house this weekend, and maybe that will help spark a little much needed attention to those scale gods. I'll be sure to burn extra incense and a extra bag of wings to be sure it's effective!!! Your doing what you need to do, it's just one of those fluke weeks, don't worry about it, keep plugging along. But..... 2 margarita's OUCH!!! maybe just scotch for awhile, I think you sabotaged yourself with those margarita's. I think they are loaded in calories, even before the liquor is added. I'll send over smoke signals on Saturday so watch for them. HAHAHAHA Smile and push forward, your the WARRIOR!!!! GO TOM~~

Of course I never try to over-do it on weight lifting. I frequently take off many sessions of my weight lifting off when I feel discomfort.

However, I can't get enough of my cardio :jump:

Juliette - thanks for your encouragement. I'll get through this week, I swear! And I'm too far away from Lake Michigan to throw my scale in it. Hmmm. . . the Pacific Ocean is only 5 minutes away though. . .

Val Since you're exercising for us both, would you mind taking one or two of my pounds as well? :)

Kim - I think I'll take your advice, and stick to Scotch. No salt on the rim with that!

Adam I needed a rest from my cardio as well -- I was just tuckered out.

Pinky - Hi! Yes, I am enjoying my day off, but I can't wait until Friday!

Cannon - I sure hope so. I've gone up on the scale for 3 days in a row! But it will come down again once I start my new program.

I've been on a break and now its at the end of that time and I really do feel like I've taken a few steps backward. That water weight is a horrible bloaty feeling and its not fair that we get that from eating at maintenance! This past weekend I probably had a lot more than maintenance. Ugh, here's looking forward to exercising and calorie counting again. Yay.

Weight 235.4 - WTF??? :( :(

What is happening to me??? I can't frickin' believe this! At the beginning of the month, I weighed 231.2; now I'm up 4.2 frickin' pounds? And during that time, I've had a total surplus of 106 calories. Not only that, but my goddamned BP is up too - from 111/68 to 128/83 today! Good grief, I just don't get this!
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

 :eek2:  :eek2:  :eek2:

Weight = Water
BP = I think the smilies (can you call those smilies???) in the above post say it all. Some peoples BPs go up just because of the measuring of the BP. Yours - panic?
Get rid of scale now?

Tom, hang in there buddy. You are doing incredibly awesome compared to other men your same age, even if they are fit.

I understand the frustration. You did all this work and you don't even see it on the scale. Just remember though...this is another round your body is throwing at you. They are saying "Wow, is Tom really serious about this" and once they see you have kicked it into high gear, they will give up the precious energy reserves.

Hang in there buddy. We all got your back.

Juliette You're right -- it probably is water. I'm just really bummed out, but I'll get over it.

AdamThanks, man. That's almost exactly what my wife said to me this morning, LOL. I appreciate the support!
