EG's Diary

Its a GREAT feeling when clothes that were previously too tight start to fit better, then are too loose! That's part of what keeps me motivated.

:hurray: Yay!!!

The same goes for me too and then I get shot down after not working out on the weekend and gain 3 pounds. Ugh! I hate when that happens but oh well. Just got to keep going. Thanks.

Back to feeling the before effects of "Aunt Flo" which always begin about 2 weeks before "she" actually comes to "visit". I gained 3 pounds overnight and some of my clothes feel snug. I'm already started to have cravings for things. :banghead: Anywho, here is what I ate today:

Breakfast: Egg, turkey sausage & cheese sandwich

Snack: Nectarine

Lunch: Chicken, broccoli, rice

Snack: Cottage cheese, pineapple

Dinner: Grilled chicken caesar wrap (grilled chicken, lettuce, fat-free caesar dressing wrapped in a garden spinach flavored tortilla)

Sunflower seeds to keep me awake at work.....

1,545 cals / 61.2 fat / 147.1 carbs / 102.5 protein

No exercise today: I woke up too late and had to come into work. I'll make up for it tomorrow.

Ohhh, I feel for ya! I just went through that last week... hit that stage where all I wanted to do was unhinge my jaw and tilt back the 'fridge. I didn't, but I ate more than I usually do when the first stages of PMS started to hit. Yeah, hit me pretty hard last time.

One thing I noticed too is when I was first losing weight, exercising more, dropping fat stores... my cycle got a little wonky for a while. Its gotten back to being pretty regular but it wasn't for a few months.

If you find you simply MUST have ice cream (that hits me sometimes), try the Skinny Cow fudge bars... they're yummy and relatively guilt free. They're a giant :chillpill:

It's funny that you mentioned the Skinny Cow bars because I just bought some and you are right, they are yummy....Thank you!

I'm going to try something different. I know I need to cut my carbs because I"m gaining instead of losing weight. Before I was on the 6 Week Body Makeover and although the diet does work I was miserable without salt and even a little bit of fat. I started to just kind of use the concept....eating six small meals a day, lots of fruits and vegetables and lots of water. I began to add bread and tortillas to my eating plan, that's when I started to gain the weight back. I can't give those things up. I just can't live without them. Cutting back on them I can do. I'm going to try the South Beach Diet now that I have some motivation. My mini-goal right now is to get to 195 and size 16 by Halloween. I need to do this. For the next couple of days a I am going to watch what I eat and continue to exercise but on Monday I'll be started the South Beach. Wish me luck. Hope it works.

Good luck to you. I really believe that it is important to evaluate what you are doing along your journey, try some different things, and see what works and what doesn't work for you. It is just great that you are so motivated and you are now committed to doing whatever it takes to getting and staying healthy.

About the carbs, have you tried eating whole grain bread and tortillas? They really are important in you diet, so don't try to give that up altogether. You know, people have such a misconception about carbs, but they are not necessarily bad. In fact fruits & vegetables are primarily carbs. Not just bread & pasta.

Anyway, I am glad that you are sticking with this. If you continue down the healthy path you will find what works for you and be able to stick with it for life.

Have a great night!

I have tried using whole grain bread and tortillas and I love them but right now my mind is set on hitting my first goal and I feel like I'm not going to do it in time. It is very important to me that I make it to this goal. South Beach only eliminates carbs for the first two weeks and then lets you incorporate the good ones (wheat bread, wheat tortillas, oatmeal) into your diet slowly. You are definitely right about carbs not being bad. We do need them. I am just feeling like I need to try to change it up a bit so I can at least get below 200. I am so scared of just waking up one day and giving up. It's coming here and reading what ya'll say that makes me keep going. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

Have a good one.

Oh I ate very deliciously today. :drool5:

Breakfast: Turkey sausage, egg, 2% cheese, taquitos (healthy tortillas)

Snack: Fruit salad (kiwi, pineapple, strawberries)

Lunch: Healthy Chicken enchiladas on a bed of lettuce

Snack: Banana

Dinner: 2 bean and cheese chalupas (baked corn tortilla shells, fat-free refriend beans, reduced-fat cheese, lettuce and tomatoes)

Dessert: Skinny Cow ice cream sandich

1,598 calories / 48.8 fat / 166.3 carbs / 91.3 protein

Exercise: 30 min of dancing mixed with turbo jam

Oh yea, your food sounds definitely YUMMY! Making me drool... :drool5:

I think I'm gonna have to go get some skinny cow ice cream. I also really like the weight watchers popsicles. So DELISH.

I'm glad that you are not giving up carbs altogether. I just didn't know how the south beach diet works, but it actually sounds really good from what you mentioned. Sounds like it is just trying to break you from CRAVING those bad things.

My first mini goal is set for Halloween (which is also my wedding anniversary... lol) so we can get there together!

Ok, well now I'm gonna have to go eat cuz reading your journal has made my tummy growl!

I think you are right about the craving breaking thing. I have to agree with you.

Halloween is our day!! Get ready to celebrate cuz we will make our first mini goal. FO SHO!!

LOL....sorry for making you hungry. If you want any of my recipes let me know. They are just like the real thing. (enchiladas, chalupas....etc)

I finally got back down to 217 lbs  It's very exciting because I didn't think it would happen this quickly. I'm more motivated than ever right now. I went walking earlier today and thought that I had only walked for forty-five minutes but I had actually walked for an hour and 15 min! I was wondering why my poor dog was so tired. I had to let her rest three times on the way home. My poor baby. I had forgotten my watch and lost track of time. I usually only take her with me for 30 minutes. I started wearing a pedometer and walked 8500 steps during the 1 & 15 min. I think I'm going to keep wearing it all day. They say your goal should be 10,000 steps a day.

Anyway, here is my menu for the day:

Breakfast: Egg-cellent enchiladas (2 corn tortillas, scrambled egg-one whole egg and 3 egg whites, 1/3 c red. fat mexican blend cheese, 1/2 avocado, 2 tbsp salsa)

Snack: Banana

Lunch: Chicken Quesadilla (2 oz chicked cooked with 3 tbsp salsa, 1/3 cup colby jack cheese & 2 tbsp light sour cream) & cucumber, carrots and light ranch dip on the side

Dinner: 2 Bean & Cheese chalupas (YUM-O)

Dessert: Skinny cow ice cream sandwich

1,578 cals / 56.2 fat / 145.9 carbs / 85.0 protein

Congrats on getting back down to 217! Also, you always have such a wide range of foods everyday :p I wish you would send me some ! haha

So today (technically yesterday) was my "free day". It's been every weekend for the past few weeks but this week I'm only going to do it this Friday. My mom and I have a little tradition. Every week we go out for breakfast and since I'm off on Friday, right now I have been taking her out to our usual breakfast place. It's a little Mexican restaurant called Lydia's Homestyle cooking and they have some really good breakfast taquitos. We sit there and catch up, eat and drink coffee. We usually go shopping afterwards. I cherish those moments with her.

Anyway, I ate pretty much what I have been craving all week. I ate taquitos for breakfast, I ate a Popeye's chicken sandwich with fries for lunch, and I had 3 tiny frozen White Castle burger with chips. I drank cherry coke with dinner and later for dessert I ate a Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen and man it was soooooo good. I didn't bother adding my calories because I'm sure I would have fainted. :svengo: But I still feel really good because I satisfied my cravings on my "free day" and tomorrow I will start and end the day with good healthy food and exercise. I'm starting to rethink the South Beach thing. I just bought some english muffins and fruit for the week and I can't have either on South Beach but I guess we'll see what happens. Either way, I know the way I have been cutting down on my calories, I'm bound to lose at least a pound a week and that will make me happy. By the end of next week I'll be 216. I know it!! :D

So that's what's up with me. Have a good one.

I would rethink the south beach diet. You are making progress now, why fix what isn't broken - so to speak ! haha :p

Also, I plan on going to my sisters sometimes soon- I am sure I will eat lots of junk that day.

Thanks for your advice and I think I'm going to take it. Minus mentioned that too, about restricting carbs. I have to do only for 2 weeks but that is going to seem like a lifetime. I have a deadline for Halloween and I'm just worried I'm not going to make it. I feel like I have to take drastic measures. But you are right, I should just leave it alone. Thanks again.

/hug.. Just do what you are doing, and work extra hard. You should hit any goal you set ( as long as it is realistic.) Good Luck!

Just popping by! Way to go on that over-an-hour walk!! That's amazing! I am pooped after just a half an hour walk in my neighborhood. I can't wait for the cool weather to get here!!!!

Thanks so much for the really sweet comment in my journal. I look forward to seeing your progress as well and am so thankful to have your support. We can do this!!

Hey girl! I just read through your diary and you're doing a great job! You're a lot braver than I am with trying your old foods. I'm afraid to go near the things I used to eat out of fear of losing self control. haha
Awesome job with not only calorie counting, but keeping the carbs, protein, and fat in check too!

Keep up the great work! I can't wait to share your >200 success! :)
