Ed's Diary

lol, nah. Your a tough broad. You could hang. His programs are all about adaptability. very few people can do the exercises he does. Some of that crap is crazy.

now I'm confused; so are YOU going to do those wacky tacky exercises? Or just some of them?

Its all about adaptability and progression. Thats why I meant you could do it. Its not like you get the book Monday and do 1 arm pull ups the next week.

As for me, a little of both. Right now some of those exorcises (I'm not sure which ones you seen) I simply can't do, like pistols and ab roll outs. But they are well within my ability if I work hard and follow progressions.
Here is a video of an ab roll out progression

What I meant by the crazy crap he does are things like 80lb weighted one arm ab roll outs, or triple clap push-ups or weighted glute raises. I may surprise myself but there are tons of elite athletes that have been training for years that can't do those things.

yeah, it's definitely about adaptability but FUCK, those are bloody difficult exercises! That's pretty amazing you're interested in this. What does your wife think of your exercise interests? Is she all supportive or is she like, "Honey, you're great the way you are now"?

Both. My wife is special though. She would likely support me if I went home tonight and told her I was quitting my job to train for the 2012 Olympics. Plus she works out also and is battling the scales so she understands. Besides shes my wife, she would probably rather me stay home 3 nights a week and hit stuff with a hammer in the back yard than have me at the gym paying dues every month.

I figured as much. Most people on here have supportive significant others, thank goodness! My ex didn't rally care much about anything I was into. Good luck on the training!

"Werd."

In all honesty I'm happier now, single and as a Mackmaster, than I ever was in a relationship! Different strokes, I'll probably end up like Barre--55, single, and never married. haha.

Numbers for the week:
7 day averages:

Calories
1893

Fat 30%

Carbs 33%

Protein 31% (146g)

Alcohol 6%

Things to work on. Same old same old lol more protein. t's damn hard to balance a diet. I am shooting for about 170-180g per day. I actually got that on a few days but here is what I have ran into. This week Fitday says that my fiber is @ 54% of what I need. Compared to 260% of protein (who the hell makes these things) Anyway. I feel like my carb % is a little high but the carbs I am eating are pretty damn clean. Lots of spinach, green peas, green beans, broccoli. I do have some whole wheat pasta or brown rice for dinner a few times a week but other than that I am pretty clean. So here is my riddle:

Protein needs to go up.
Carbs need to come down.
Fiber needs to go up.

The short answer would be add a supplement. But I am already supplementing my protein, I hate to supplement my fiber as well. I think one problem after looking at my log is b'fast. Too many mornings of eggs or just a shake. I need to start getting some more oatmeal. maybe add a 1/2 scoop of whey.

Busy weekend.
Saturday: US Open + college football + UFC
Sunday: More US Upen + NFL + NASCAR

Unfortunately NASCAR was the loser this week. LOVED the Open. I am huge Williams sisters fan and a Nadal hater. Perfect! My Tide rolled, my Falcons won. Chuck got KO'd but my boys Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson got they roll on.

Weekend betting record: 8-8 Ouch
Took a bath in college football

Oh, forgot Saturdays WO

Worked on my pullups
5 sets to failure followed by negatives
5x5 of rows

Worked on my pistols. Did this 2 ways
1. Stood 1 foot on balance beam. Lowered completely down and did 1 leg BW squat. That was hard as hell. Did as many of those with each leg as I could
2.Did assisted pistols by using a pole. Put toe against pole and held pole with hand. Tried to do them with as little hand assistance as possible.

If you dont know what the hell I am talking about

After that I did some intervals
10 burpees
sprint 100 yards
10 push ups
walk back fast
reapeatx5

Yeah I saw Serena win last night at the bar with Barre (althoguh I was drinking plain seltzer water)

Your macro watching gives me a headache just thinking about it, good for you for being diligent enough to track it all!!

I can almost do a full pistol........

Pistols, huh.

Fun, fun.

Yep. It pisses me off that I can't do one. Its the "out" leg that is getting me. I can do the other part. I can do them on the balance beam where my leg can go below parallel.

How can I fix that? Just keep trying?

It feels you don't have the strength to hold the out leg up high enough? Or range of motion?

I'm not sure if it is strength. flexibility, or balance. I think I will try them again tonight and see if I can isolate the problem. I can do the form with one hand on a pole and it really doesnt feel like I need much help at all. It may just be balance and comfort. It is a pretty odd movement. I am going to see if I can start on the ground in position tonight and do the lift part. I'm opposite to curlie. I can't get down un-assisted. I don't know if I cant come up or not. I have only done them with a pole and on the balance beam.

Steve Cotter is the man when it comes to the pistol.

Here is an article by him, I haven't read it in a while. Might be a nugget in there you can use but doubt much more than what you've read from Ross.

Um, this is going to sound like repetitiveness, but YOGA would help your balance and coordination......although practice makes perfect, and I'm sure you'll get it if you keep trying. Maybe when I can get up from one, I'll have someone video-me and stick myself on Youtube with a big goofy Ed-winking grin :D hahahahaha

Sweet thanks a lot. That does look helpful. I think my problem may be flexibility after reading that.
