DSMan Weight Loss Diary

Did another weigh in today. I am now down to 184.5, I am averaging about 2,200 calories a day and 2.5 hours of exercise per WEEK. I think I will keep it at this much intake and workout for now. I am hoping this means my metabolism is still OK. I heard of crashing metabolism after dieting, don't want that to be me.

Day 1:
I am back, sadly a few months after reaching my goal in 2017 I ended up gaining a lot of my weight back and shot up to over 300lbs, and then hovered around 265 for little over a year. COVID hit and ended up gaining around 25lbs.

Technically this actually around day 70, I started my most recent weight loss journey back around August 6th. I weighed 290lbs then. Today I got on the scale and I am now down to 249lbs. I hope to reach my goal of 200lbs by next summer.

I don’t think I have ever walked over 6 miles before today. I don’t think I ever walked over 5 miles before yesterday. I really am proud of walking the distance I did the past two days.

Workout Calories Burned: 1,175 Calories

Welcome back, DS & well done getting back on track again. I found maintenance much harder than weight-loss. Well done on your big walk too :)

Well done for coming back and making such good progress over the last couple of months.

Lots of us have done much the same... Lost weight (I got to goal here a decade ago) - but subsequently gained a fair bit of weight...

We will do it again together...

Sounds like a good day. Dinner may have been a bit heavy but the portion size was reasonable and that´s the main thing. Hope you enjoyed your walk as well.

Do you drink much water, DSMan? I haven't been drinking enough & feel much better for adding some more into my day.

I drink 4-5 litres of water or diet soda a day. But I need to remember to drink more after a long walk.

Hey DS, I am new since you were here before, so this is a kind of introduction.

No shame in what's happened to you, it has happened to most of us. The only shame would be in not coming back to fight the fight. I am looking forward to following your progress.

hi DSM...

re: diet soda... it beats sugar soda any day, but it still contains a lot of salt.
almost as cheap as water... here is my 10 minute ice tea recipe.
there are a lot of views on artificial sweeteners, but that one works for me.

your history is far from unique and your determination seems genuine.
here is another diary page of mine you might find helpful.

Yesterday wasn't good, but here it is:

Breakfast: Bean and Cheese Burrito on Low Carb Tortilla
Calories: 270 Calories

Estimated Calories: 904

Very disappointed in how much I ate yesterday. I should still be under my BMR which is 2,100 due to my almost 500 calories burned. According to a few Calculators i see online even doing nothing all day I should burn around 2,600 calories.

Looks very good for a bad day, if I´m honest. It´s a good variety of food and while the calories may be higher than what you´d planned none of it was junk.

I thought it looked good too, but sometimes it's just how that food made you feel. Are sushi rolls that high in calories?

Did not look bad to me either, and like Cate I was surprised at the high calories in sushi rolls. I like sushi, but have not had any since I started this diet so I have not counted the calories.

Even if you don't lose weight at the calorie level you should not gain any either, if you get back on track it will have no real effect.

Yes they can be 600 to 1000 calories a roll, especially if they have mayo based sauce on top or Tempora shrimp.

Thank you all for the comments. Today had been good so far.
