Don't try this at home

Stupidity can be painful and my failing to warm up properly for deadlifts certainly was when I damaged the exact same area as I did last year.
Looks like I need to step away from max deadlifting for a while to fully recover rather than being stupidly arrogant as normal.
Considering standing up, walking and even driving aren't easy right now I won't be training or running for a bit.
Very annoyed at myself at the moment.

Training has gone full hardcore now. Yesterday I walked about 2 miles and took almost an hour to do it. Today I intend to extend the distance a bit.
I look like I have soiled myself when I am walking at the moment but I need to keep moving on occasion to aid recovery.
Yes this really does make me feel very pathetic, but at least I have sorted out how to sleep now without causing more damage. Tried no support for a couple of nights, that was a disaster, tried neoprene and weight belt night before last and that just hurt so much I removed both, even worse. Last night just used neoprene support and woke up in the least pain since damaging my back this time.
Now of course with this feeling less intense I am getting impatient for the repair to complete. I really should have grown out of that by now.

You know, between the two of us and our various assorted injuries, we are going to scare Ryan and Justin into thinking being 'older' is a bad thing...

Sorry you are miserable. I really hope you find some comfort in sleeping, it is such a crucial part of healing.

I am doing a good impression of the ascent of man at the moment. Over time walking increasingly more upright. It won't take long for me to be back to some training, I hurt less than I deserve for training with inadequate warm up, old enough to know better.
Only issue is that it's exactly the same spot, so I have created a weakness. I'll have to accept this for a good while too, even going as far as wearing a belt for heavy training, which sucks, but I have my wife's old one available so may as well.

Today's walk was without support and started well, quite upright and almost comfortable. Just after 3/4 way through I felt instantly tired and my body was saying stop. This is where treadmills are good, in the real world you have to get back.

Sounds like how I felt when I hurt my back a year ago. Even thinking about moving was miserable. Sorry to hear about the incident. Hope the road to recovery is a short one.

Would be a lot quicker if I had remembered our sofa is for lounging not support. Spent a lot of Sunday chilling out and set myself well back. I am back on the mend now, want some training next week even if it's a pathetic run or training with a bar.

Just go easy on yourself! Maybe 50% of what you think you can do until you find you can actually do it... that pesky moderation is best.

Glad you are back to the point where running is possible, and it seems your training plans are sensible - at least for now. Really hope the recovery continues at a good, steady state.

Moderation, yay!
