HI Valerie,

Wow, busy girl!! Great news on your weight!! Just quickly stopping by and give you a "chin up" about tomorrow's race. Let us know how your gramps did , I am sure in your heart you will be running with him.
How is your ankle?
Hajni

Hajni:[/B] I CHANGED MY MIND. MY ANKLE IS GOOD, BUT I AM GOING TO RUN AT MY GRANDPA'S SIDE--HE DOES 10-MINUTE MILES AND I AM GOING TO STAY WITH HIM in case he falls or or something......he fell in the last 5K we did and i was freaked out.

I realized I let me competitive pride get in the way--I can totally do the 10K on my ankle at 10 minute miles. I talked it over with some people I was pouring wine for and they told me it would be really big of me. They are right!!!!! He is 77--no way in hell am I gonna pass this up because I am not in the shape to place for my age. Yay I'm excited!!!! How selfish of me to not run at all because I wouldn't be fast!!!

Life is a competition, no ?? I lacked my competitive side during my obese state, now it's back. I hope I never lose it again.

Use it while ya got it, Val. We may not all be as blessed as that 77 year old, yanno ??

Evening Curves! I got the list, THANK YOU!! I noticed a few off of it right away, but I'll email you later on that. I have to agree with Trucker tonight, that if your young or even older but in good shape, do what you can with it. Don't let a day go by and not enjoy the fact that you can run and be good at it. There are so many people out there today, who envy people like you and your gramps for being healthy, in shape and motivated. It's truly a lucky thing you guys have. SAVOR every minute of it!! And doing it together, even better! I hope you had a blast at the run. And I hope your gramps comes in 1st place! OH YEAH!!!! talk to you later gator!

Look you two--one race isn't gonna matter in the long run--besides, my ankle is still healing!! So it's OK for me to take it easy, and run with my gramps--it sure is a blow to my ego, but it also makes me feel good about being there for gramps, and my grandparents were thrilled when they found out! So it's all good in the hood!!! :D

Oh yeah!! Your gramps is so cute!!!! It's good to see a family that comes together! AHHHHHHH, my family is the same way, however all our meetings always involve food and a lot of it!!! All the women know how to cook and we throw down on gatherings. It's a good thing it's been a few months since our last one, I tend to over do it those days. LOL LOL How come you didn't stay out tonight?

I think you'll really enjoy the race, knowing that you're doing it for your grandpa. How sweet! I hope you guys kick ass!

Val - I think it is great that you decided to run with your Gramps....You are the only one walking on your ankle and such and hey - how big of you - Im proud of you and just make sure you dont get hurt...anymore - heh heh heh - tell us abt the race chicky!!!

Hi Val,
How was the run with gramps today? It was probably the best decision for your ankle and your grandparents are very happy!! I wish I could run with my grandpa no matter how long it would take him to finish. But he is no shape to run, barely walking.
We are eager to find out how it went.!!
Hajni

Valerie you're a huge sweetie to run with your grandpa, on a sore ankle no less. I'm sure he loved it, hope everything went well :hug2:

Thanks for stopping bvy everyone!! :D

Not much time today--Monday, very busy, and as you know this week I have to MOVE and I have a lot of CRAP and I have to plan for my BIRTHDAY PARTY. I am also trying to remaine SERENE at this time, pant pant.

So I probably won't be around AS MUCH lately, but will be back with a vengence, after a week or so.

The race:
15,000 people
Stayed behind or beside gramps the entire time---he's a trooper!! It was so damn crowded it took us 19:35 to do mile 1. :rotflmao: Wharf to Wharf is a 6 mile "race" through south Santa Cruz and Capitola, while all the neighbors watch with their mimosas, cheer us on, blow bubbles on us, spray us with hoses, and play music for us. I'd say there were about 20 bands, from Chinese drums to rock to jazz to dance music. It was SO MUCH FUN to job with gramps :D he LOVED it, he was so happy. After we went wine tasting and he loved some of the local wines, and Barry from Bartolo/Equinox and Jeff from Alexander Cellars entertained us, and we also had beer at the Brewery and he got to meet Wonder Dog.

I didn't takle pictures of us!!! :( BUT I did get some of Wonder, and of a cute little girl we met. I'll post later!

My ankle held up FINE!!! BUT I definitely cannot run very fast for a little bit, bnor should I do trail running for a while.

Hi Val. Sounds like a wonderful day yesterday. What a fun race!

You'll get a nice workout from moving! Hope you love your new place.

How come you didn't stay out tonight?

Oh I was way tired!

I think you'll really enjoy the race, knowing that you're doing it for your grandpa.

Yes, I did--and I realize that I had much more fun running with him than running by myself, it was WAY TOO CROWDED for me to get ahead, if my ankle was 100%. Think--all that crying and things turned out even better!!! :D

Val - I think it is great that you decided to run with your Gramps

Cerella, I'm a fan of randonimity, and I don't agree that everything happens for a reason, but in this case I'd say things worked out better that I sprained my ankle!!! Gramps was so thrilled all day--and HAPPY!!!! :D

Hi Val,
I wish I could run with my grandpa no matter how long it would take him to finish. But he is no shape to run, barely walking.

:( Sorry. I am very lucky. Gramps is a lot like me, I realized--they way we talk and the wines we like and how we kiddingly brag--it was hilarious, we charmed the hell out of all the winemakers, he had Jeff Alexander hugging him! :hug2: HA HA! :rotflmao:

I feel for you on the moving out!! I am moving several states away and it is very trying. On the nervs, and no sleep. We can hold hands through this and make it together!! What do you say??:hug2:
