I have never tried chocolate soymilk. I am really not keen on the regular soymilk although I am sure anything with chocolate in it is probably pretty darn good!

Most soymilk is garbage. I am very brand-picky, because I have tasted them all (that the local stores have to offer). The ones that taste the most like milk (but don't actually taste like real milk) are: Wildwood, Organic Valley, and Silk. Silk isn't as good ingrediants-wise as the others. These ones are purchased refrigerated. The ones that are not refreigerated have tasted aweful to me.

Hey thanks for the soy milk advice :) I might try some. My Dad drinks soy milk because he has ecsema and he swears it improves when he lays off dairy products. I have ecsema too but I'd rather have ecsema than gag when I drink soy milk! haha! Sounds like I have probably been having the not-so-nice ones though because I think he buys the non-refridgerated type! I'm going to look out for the brands you mentioned - thanks CG!

You're welcome! I have eczema too, it is a chronic lifelong malady that sometimes remains latent for months or years...until your skin gets dry enough for a breakout. Sounds like Herpes, Yuck! Right now I am eczema-free....for now....

1:40 and Craving a Treat

I want a treat so bad.

I am drinking water....water.....water.....

I'm going running today! I'm frustrated and running makes me too worn out for that! Actually, I forgot my exercise clothes so I can't go straight to the gym (gym is halfway between my work and my house, and going from my house to my gym at 5:30 is frustrating because of the horrific traffic).

All I want to do is snack.....this water is helping, though. I've been doing so well, avoiding junk food. Yeah, so I eat dark chocolate still--that's NOT junk food.

The other day I was sticking a piece of chocolate on my mouth when my boss walked by my desk, as I was closing my top drawer (where I keep my stash). She said, "Snacking?" and with a mouth-full of chocolate, I said, "No! This is serious. It's chocolate." She thought that was rather funny--in retrospect, I did too. But I was serious! "Snacking" indeed--give me an IV!

Hi, my name is Valerie, and I'm a chocoholic....

So I'm drinking wine at work

One of my perks of this job--some "Ten Mile Red, California"--a red blend. Not bad! It sure is helping my mood--earlier I had a mental crisis--I was feeling sad for no reason. DAMN PMS! I fixed it by eating a whole wheat bagel and wheat germ oil, and this glass of wine. But because of it all, I'm at 1910 calories. I plan on running off 700 after work. I'll make myself a 370-somthing cal dinner and try to do yoga. Then I can still be good. I think this will work. OK!

Thank you, I DID have a good run

Twas a good run, yes indeed! Ran for 45 minutes, straight, up and down hills in the dirt, past redwood trees and the like. Because of the intense uphill parts, I'd say I burned about 600-650 calories. Probably 600 since my body is efficient and fit. It sucks now because I'm lighter than I was, I burn less calories at the same exercise.

Ate a pizza: whole wheat pita bread, with pizza sauce on it, and shedded cheese, and fresh basil, with fake turkey. About 350 calories.

If I can stop there, I will definitely be on my way to 137 lbs by April 1st...this is the hardest time because of my cycle. I swear it's so much easier to eat less Days 3-20......

Yes, that's a major complaint I have with our manufacturer. It should really work the opposite way -- the lighter you get, the easier it should be to burn calories.

Well, it is in a way. Bet you couldn't have done that 45 min. run a year ago!

If you Fall Off the Wagon

One major thing I agree with about weight loss tips, is this:

If you slip up one day, or even for a few days, don't give up--run and JUMP back on that wagon! Start over as soon as you can--the next meal, if possibe, because an extra few hundred calories will not really make much difference in the long run--giving up completely and going nuts for a week or more will!

The past 3 days I have eaten more than ever, BUT my activity most likely has me coming out even--yesterday I had a lot of fun!

I took the day off work to hang out with my Mom--it was her 47th birthday yesterday, and her and my step dad came from the East Bay to hang out with me. I bought her a bottle of Veuve Cliquot's Champagne, 2 Victoria's Secret Shock Absorber Jogging Bras, and some Jasmine and black teas. SHe was well pleased!

In the morning I went to the gym and spent an hour weight training. I took my parents to the beach and we frolicked, and climbed the rocks. We went to the forest and power-walked along the trail. At 5 I went to class and spent good energy taking notes and tasting wines (Rhône, this time). I ate 2500 calories, but who knows how much I burned? I was literally exhausted by the evening.

Consumed: Spinich wrap with black beans, salsa, avocado and brown rice, some chips; champagne, a 16 oz Stout; Thai food lunch; some crackers and bread balls with wine in class; the other half of my Thai lunch at 9pm.

SO I ate right before bed--no good! And it was because I smoked with my BF and housemates--munchies! I like herb, but only occasionally, and it DOES make me eat more, so I'll have to watch it. I weighed 145.5 lbs this morning, and it's Day 1 of my cycle, so I blame it on bloating and the late meal. I'm going to wait a few days before I update my ticker, to give myself a break ;)

* no more binging (should be easy--the PMS brings it on)
* drinking and smoking to minimum
* Try to stay under 1700 calories (easy after period)

OK! I'm planning on getting pictures on "Before & After & In Between) on April 1st or soon thereafter. Wish me luck! MWAH!

Plans

After work I'm going straight home because I plan to bring home a lot of perishable food I have here at work, so I can use it up during the weekend instead of buying more food. Then I'm going to go for a nice run in the forest, and try to run for 50+minutes.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to do Psycho Michael's Kickboe class at 10:30, and I'm going to try to get a tan. I plan on making a new dish for lunch, and eating light so I can have a few beers for St Pat's Day--I'm also planning on curling my hair (or crimping, whatever). I wish I had a green dress!

Sunday I need to study for my wine class and start collecting the bottles I'll need for my class project--which is an 8 page paper on a growing region in the world, and doing a tasting as well. I think I want to to the Loire Valley in France. SO that's going to take some time planning it out and mucho dinero, and some book-borrowing.

Yes! I'm going to be productive!

oh tasting 6 different bottles of wine.. that's such a hardship :)

have a wine tasting party and have 6 friends each bring a bottle :)

Reflection Time Again

Yesterday I spent most of St. Patty's Day visiting friends and wadering around downtown. I was actually pretty bored! Never hang out in bars from 5pm to midnight, it's BORING. Another downside: almost NADA in the cute guy department. Hey, yeah I have a BF, but just like he looks, so do I, and yesterday there was a distinct lack of hot males around. My mood, too, wasn't so great, so I wasn't as gregarious and lively and friendly as usual--blame it on the bleeding. Also, I ate a lot each day for the last week or so. There goes losing 8 lbs in the month of March--tick tock and I weighed 144.5 lbs this morning. Bloating and all. I predicted ealier that I'd be 137 by April 1st--but that was before my Week of Hearty Eating. Still, this week I did a total of: 2 hours heavy weight training; 10 miles running (going to run 5 more today in a minute for 15 miles); 2 hours HIIT kick-boe; 2+hours walking outside, and then the various housechores and walking around aimlessly. It's been a busy week!

SO I predict that I'll be about 140 by April 1st, down 5 lbs from March 1st. This is just a prediction. If I'm more, I shall bravely take it up a notch with the calorie-counting and I will stop partying. Promise--no feeling bad, no guilt, no getting down on myself. To be honest, I'm very proud of my getting under 145 lbs and staying there this long, and I'm very pleased with the way I look. That keeps me going!:D

If I weigh less than 140, I'm going to come on here and brag and brag!! Acutally, when I DO break into the 130s, I'll be really, really, pleased and proud.

Yesterday and this morning I kept thinking un-wise-ly, "Everything will be better when I'm 130 lbs." I know that's wrong. I'm working on changing my "inner-dialogue." But I'm writing this here because I need to confess and get it out. Perhaps it's my moodiness that's causing it--or my beer-drinking yesterday. Yes, it's most likely the depressant effects of alcohol. I said it before, and then St. P day came, I'm serious this time: I AM GOING TO STOP BINGE DRINKING, or at least minimize it. I don't get drunk, usually, I seldom make an ass of myself, and I have not vomited from alcohol since March 2004. That's not bad, considering I used to drink myself sick quite often as a teenager. Alcohol's fun at the time but it just brings you down, unless you stop at 1 or 2 drinks in a day. I know that, I need to put it into practice.

Ok, time to run! YAY!

Hey there :) Glad you got your feelings down on paper, so to speak :) YOU ARE KICKING ASS with the exercise and don't beat yourself up over having a hearty week of food. I always get it the week before my period. I do think if your body is craving it that much you need it! Within reason of course!!! You should be very proud of being under 145lbs and staying there so long. That's awesome. You have plenty of determination and drive and know how to eat right. If you don't make it to 140 by April 1st (although I suspect you will), then it will be through your scales being stubborn. You are working so hard that you are definitely going to see some positive results over the next week or so after your period.
Hope you are having a great start to the week! Thanks for your support in my diary! You rock and don't you forget that!!!! :)
