Hi Derrick, I've been reading your diary and you are an inspiration! Way to go on losing all that weight, staying focused and not replacing God with food (as many of us do). I hope and I am sure that you will reach your goal!

Good to read your posts! :)

This morning I weighed 195.0! Just one pound away from my lowest! I can't wait to see 193.5! I hope it comes soon. Feels good to be back on track again.

Derrick

NICCEEEE! Way to go!

Thanks Shinsplint, that really does make me feel good. Thank you too Bansheebabe. It is nice to know other people read my entries every now and then. :)

I am really feeling the fat burning going on right now. I am just trying to tough it out for a few more days because I specifically remember the first few days of being in a significant caloric deficit are the hardest. It is tolerable, just a weird sort of feeling. I think I have been stuck around 194 to 200 for so long because I stopped focusing on losing weight and was focused more on fueling my body to recover from all the workouts leading up to the triathlon. Now I am solely focused on burning more calories than I consume. I am going to try very hard to stay focused.

I had another great day with my diet and exercising. My diet was a little abnormal today because I had to have several liquid meals and I usually only have one or two shakes as snacks or recovery drinks. I was working on the farm today and I didn't realize most of my food was gone.

Still 195.0 today so I guess the weight was real yesterday. I had another great day of eating and exercising. I swam this morning and felt ok but definitely a little fatigued from weight lifting yesterday. I can start swimming with the masters group anytime again. Just waiting until it stops storming so much because they are swimming outdoors now.

8:00am
Myoplex Lite meal shake

8:45am
Swam for 38 minutes working on stroke technique and sprinting.
Can't use my heart rate monitor because no matter how tight I make the chest strap it slides off my body when I do flip turns. I used the watch for intervals though. I am sure I got at least 30 minutes in my heart rate zone.

10:00am
Power Sandwhich without cheese (ham, egg and whole grain bread)
two cups of fruit
one large coffee (half caffeinated half decaf, little bit of half & half and a little bit of skim milk, 5 equals)
little bit of water.

12:30pm
Full sandwhich (roast beef, ham, lettuce, tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of fat free mayo on wheat bread)
one cup of baby carrots
lots of water.

4:30pm
Myoplex Lite recovery drink

7:00pm
6oz baked salmon with some kind of marinade
1/2 cup of brown rice
1/3 cup of peas and carrots
1 cup of 1% milk
Lots of water

10:30pm
8 oz of low fat hot chocolate (supposed to be 60 calories)
I was hungry and worried about eating so I settled for this instead.

So, I weighed 194.5 this morning! So after 2 months of being stuck in the mid to upper 190's, I am finally closing in on a new low. Hopefully it will happen Monday morning but if not, I will make sure it happens by Tuesday or Wednesday. I have a graduation party to go to in a couple hours and I am worried about the tempting food that will be there. I will have to have a slimfast shake before I go to help take the edge off.

So far today:

7:45am
Quaker high fiber Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal
Large coffee

10:15am

Stretch
Lower body weight lifting

CONGRATS ON THE LOSS!!!! That is wonderful news!!!!! you should be very very proud of yourself! :)

keep up the good work!!!!!!!
:hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:

ps- just saw the pics of you and your wife.

1st of all.... she is SMOKING HOT!!!! :) you have good taste dude!!! She is very pretty... looks very fit and in shape to! very pretty girl

2nd- you do NOT look like you weight in the 190's..... at all. You wear it well!

Thanks Melissa. :coolgleamA: Those are very flattering comments for both of us. :) I have photos of my wife in my photo album and I had some posted a page or two ago in this diary but I think I inadvertantly changed the link on my photobucket account. As for me, I think I look thinner than my weight suggests because my body fat percentage isn't all that bad, right around 14%, plus or minus 1%.

So, I weighed 194.5 this morning! So after 2 months of being stuck in the mid to upper 190's, I am finally closing in on a new low.

You are getting down there my friend! I love that feeling... when you hit a new low and you stare at the scale long enough for it to process, then, you proceed to have an amazing day full of kisses and running through the fields of daisies.... :cheers2:

OK, so an update since post #85. The next meal on Saturday was fine, I had a slimfast shake mixed with Gold Standard Whey protein. Then I went to the graduation party and ate less than ideal but not horrible. I also had two Bud Selects at the party.

Yesterday was father's day and we also had a birthday dinner for my wife at her mom & dad's house. She is 32 and I'll be sure to rub it in for the next 4 months until I turn 32. :D

I ate well all day until the birthday dinner. It was my mother-in-law's cooking that did it. Some of her meals are just so darn good that I can't help but eat until I am completely full. Well, I did it again last night. Then I had a huge strawberry shortcake for desert.

So this morning I weighed 198.0. :svengo: No laughing please. :toetap05: It will be gone by tomorrow or Tuesday. I think most of it is already gone. :blush5: From now on, I am going back to my old ways of weighing myself. I will count my lowest weight of the week, which almost always happens on a Friday or Saturday morning. So last week my lowest was 194.5. I am shooting for 193.5 this week. :patriot:

So today has gone like this so far:

8am
Slimfast shake

9:10am
Swam for only 300 yards and got out because the pool was filthy. They closed it for the day. The chlorine was not circulating or something.
24:38 of HIIT on the treadmill
363 calories
195 Max Heart Rate
158 Avg Heart Rate
20:58 in zone (140 - 185)

10:15am
Power Sandwhich
Cup of fruit
Medium Coffee

3:30pm
Slimfast shake with one serving of Gold Standard Whey protein chocolate flavor.

6:30pm
Alaskan cod with brown rice, peas and carrots.
Lots of water

ps- Keep up the good work :)

Tuesday June 23rd went like this:

Weighed myself in the morning. 194.5 again! Goal is 193.5 by Friday morning.

7:00am
Slimfast shake

8:30am
Oatmeal, cup of fruit, medium coffee at STL Bread Co

10:00am
Bodyflow at Gold's Gym. I also wore my heart rate monitor just to see how many calories those types of classes (yoga, thai chi, pilates) burn.
48:27 duration
347 calories
143 max heart rate
109 avg heart rate
Only 18 seconds in heart rate zone

11:30am
Chicken Noodle Soup & 1/2 smoked turkey breast sandwhich with lettuce, tomato and spicy mustard and one apple at STL Bread CO
Lots of water

2:23pm
Upper body workout
Jogged one mile
Biked 2 miles
1:04:55 duration
756 calories burned
176 max heart
137 avg heart
22:54 in heart rate zone

4:00pm
Myoplex Lite shake

6:15pm
Chicken Spiedini with baked potatoe and veggies
One piece of cheese cake
3 drinks of alcohol

8:45pm
Cup of Fiber one honey clusters cereal

So I over ate at dinner and had 3 drinks of alcohol. It was my wife's birthday. I tried. I only ate half of what was on my plate. The cheese cake was complementary so I couldn't reject it. That would have been rude. :D

I figured I would weigh 197 again the next morning.

So this morning I weighed 196.0. Better than I thought after overeating and drinking last night. I hope to be 194.0 by tomorrow morning and 193.5 by Friday morning. Going to be close but we shall see.

So far today:

6:45 am
-Power Sandwhich at STL Bread CO. (Melissa, you might know it as a breakfast sandwhich from Panera Bread. Do you have Panera in your town/city? It is just slightly modified. It is one egg, ham and cheese on whole grain bread. I have it without the cheese or I pick most of it off.)
-Cup of fruit
-Large coffee

9:00am
-Slimfast with one serving of Gold Standard Whey protein
-12 cheezits :D

I plan on working out after lunch or later this afternoon. Working on finances for my dad's farms today. Also working on some videos for church and some family photo projects.

Psh! Do we have Panera!!!!!??? yeah i love panera! :)

so you and i are going to be neck and neck for friday!!! last night i weighed in at 127.0 exactly... so I am hoping to get to 126.5

we will see!!!!!

Hey that's good news Melissa! :) My wife isn't a message poster or internet chatter but I showed her your compliment last night and she said "oh we like her, she complimented both of us." Then I showed her your recent pics and she said "psh, she's smokin hot herself!" ;) Yes, she says "psh" all the freaking time.

Panera Bread started out as St. Louis Bread Company. Around 1999 or 2000 they sold and the name changed to Panera. In St. Louis they kept the original name but everywhere else is called Panera Bread. We get new stuff before the other Panera's and I think the service is slightly better in St. Louis. I still love Panera no matter where I go but there seems to be a lot of positive pride at the St. Louis locations. One of the things STL Bread got in the past 7 or 8 months was a new breakfast sandwhich called the Power Sandwhich. They also introduced Steel Cut Oats which is a low fat oatmeal with strawberries, brown sugar and pecans. They are not perfectly healthy meals but they are pretty close. Just slightly over 300 calories and not a lot of fat grams. If you ever go to Panera for breakfast, ask for a breakfast sandwhich with egg, ham, cheese and wholegrain bread. If they don't have wholegrain, get whatever healthy option they offer at that location. Then, you can take one piece of cheese off and have yourself a healthy breakfast sandwhich. ;)

I actually weighed myself before I worked out this evening and couldn't believe the scale read 194.0! That's tied for my lowest. Who knows, maybe tomorrow morning I could see 193.5! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If not, there is a really good chance on Friday morning.

Rest of my day:
1:30pm
24 cheezits and a turkey sandwhich on wheat bread.
Water

5:30pm
Some kind of power drink with 200 grams of caffeine. I don't usually do that but it had been too long since I last ate and needed some energy.
Swam 1/2 mile
Biked 7.5 miles

7:00pm
Myoplex Lite (I always make with 4 cups of water)

10:00pm
Lots of water

So I just got off the scale a little over an hour ago and...

:willy_nilly: 193.0 :willy_nilly:

So after reaching 194.0 on April 3rd and then slowly creeping up over the next two months to a high of 200.5 just two weeks ago I have FINALLY reached a new low. Gosh darn the 190's are so dang hard for me to conquer. But I feel like I'm finally on my way to the 180's. :gnorsi:

Hey Melissa, I am at STL Bread Co right now. I just made sure the Power Sandwhich is in fact on wholegrain and it is. However, they told me there are two types of cafes across all the Paneras in the country, a traditional and a artisan. The ones I go to have the artisan cafe. Yours may be traditional. I'm not sure how they determine which locations get what. Either way, Panera is gooooood. Lots of calories though with almost everything they make. I now limit myself to Power Sandwhich, Steel Cut Oats, Chicken Noodle Soup and the Smoked Turkey Breast on Sourdough.

I plan on working out this afternoon. Today is legs.

Derrick

Great job on the new low!

I went to panera a few weeks ago, got 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 cup of soup - it was fantastic. They have their nutritional information online, just FYI :)
