August 1st...Today's the day! I've made a weight loss journal, took measurements, weighed myself, and took photos. Put them all in the journal, and this is what I wrote...

"I am preparing to change my life. Not a lot - just enough to feel better about myself, and to get a little healthier. I'm very nervous. How will I find time to exercise when I don't even find time to shower every day? How can I cut down on junk food, when I am depressed? How do I eat healthy when I hate vegetables?
I'm not going to count calories, or measure portions. I'm simply going to cook a little healthier, eat slower, cut back on junk, and exercise more. Hopefully, that will be enough for now."

My goal for today is to drink 8 glasses of water, and go for a walk. I had a c-section 5 weeks ago, so I'm taking it slow for now.

I think you have a great, sensible start!

I have had 2 c-sec and know what that is like. You definitely have to take it easy! Congratulations on the new baby!

Welcome to your diary - and don't mind me - I'm a know it all busy body :)

Good start with your goals, i read an article on goal setting recently and the premise behind the article was to be specific in your goals.

If I can assist a bit:

Eat slower is a good start -- your goal should be "when eating, put fork down between bites, and/or take a sip of water between each bites" - that's a specific obtainable goal.

Exercise more isn't really specific... Wha's your exercise plan? Having a cesearean so recently you do want to take it easy, but if the doctor gives you the go ahead, what about walking for 15 minutes a day - take the baby out for a stroll in it's stroller.

by having a specific plan, you can achieve them, by being vague, it makes it a lot harder to achieve.

OK, I'll shut up now- welcome to your diary and to the site.. and much success getting to where you want to be.

Hey Dariqueen,

Babysteps will get you there too, and you should take it slow... Good luck

Today's gone pretty good so far; I went for a slow, hour-long walk with my kids and a friend. I've had 4 BIG glasses of water so far, and have not had one bite to eat in front of the computer:D

I plan to walk at least a half hour everyday for sure, more if I can. Once I get the go-ahead from my Doctor, I have several exercise videos I plan on alternating, 5 days a week. One is step aerobics with a little bit of weight training (very little!), and the other one is a pilates one I haven't tried yet.

Well, today wasn't that great....I need to drink 2 or 3 more glasses of water, and I had ice cream for dessert. But it was so worth it!

And my incision was bothering me, so I only got a short walk in...but at least I got out. No snacking again though, and to keep my hands busy, I've gotten out my scrapbooking stuff again! So I guess the day wasn't too bad.

Welcome to your diary! It seems that scrapbooking is something you and I both do to keep from snacking! I'm planning on giving my mom one scrapbook for each of her kids, and anytime i think about eating, I pull out the scrapbooking. Good job on the getting the walks in everyday! keep up the good work!

A very good day today! I went for a 45 minute walk this morning with a friend, and this evening, my aunt came a "borrowed" the baby, so my daughter and I went for another 45 min. walk!:D I feel awesome!

:) I went for an hour-long walk today with another friend, and moved a little faster than yesterday. I'm feeling great! I just wish I could find my exercise video...

Today started out good...although it was pouring out, so no walk today. And there was WAY too much to do to be walking up and down the stairs.

It was my sister's birthday, so I had a piece of cake, and we went out for a few drinks. On the plus side, I found my exercise video :) so I'm going to do it in the morning, and work off these calories:D

Darn this incision:mad: I was cleaning the house today; nothing too strenuous. But I spent so much time on my feet and moving that I could NOT make myself do the workout. It was too sore. I did go for a slow, 45 min. walk though. I can't wait until I can move fast enough to work up a sweat; I'm actually excited to get started. :D

Yeah, I remember how hard it was for me after the C-section! Just remember that it will pass and you're doing a great job doing what you can now.

Oh, yesterday was a bad day. Of course, when I'm finally determined to lose this darn weight, everything conspires against me:rolleyes: My incision is a little better, but now I have pain in another area, I could barely walk yesterday. So no walking...I didn't even do any cleaning.

However, I have still lost another pound, which is weird. But I guess it's true...cut out eating after supper, can really make a difference!:D
