Cybermama

Hey Cybermama! :)

Yes, I'm Punjabi :) What language do you speak? I can (and do) speak Punjabi fluently. I can understand/speak Hindi as well. Same thing. :p

I've only tried Punjabi beriyani. I had no idea there were different kinds! I shall try Pakistani beriani some time :)

We're all bound to have binges/cravings. It was a lifestyle we probably had for A LONG time. It takes time. What matters most is that we resist. You're doing great! :) You will NOT fall off. You can do this!

Have a great day :)

We all hit those days where we feel like eating everything that's bad for us. Some things that have worked for me is to discover healthy alternatives, or to let myself have a treat but just watch portion control.

Keep on track and you'll keep seeing those results!

Hi Jes

I speak Malay with my family. My parents know how to speak their languarges but I dont know. I only know Malay. At home, we speak English, actually its quite funny. my eldest son likes to watch the Disney Channel, when he was 2 he started watching Disney and started picking up a lot of English from the shows. So when he talk, he talks with an American accent. Its really very very funny. All my family members would tease him about it and they will laugh cause they found it so strange. He lost the accent when he started going to kindergarten and by then his brothers all picked up his fluent english. My sons all speak English and they know very little Malay although, they are picking up bit by bit. Children are like sponges, they can absorb quite fast. Its quite funny when my sister tried to explain to my eldest the meaning of a word and he corrected her. She then asked me what the word means and I answered exactly what my son said it is. My sis laughed and laughed, she said even she dont know what that word means but my son knows it. The power of the television!! The most recent word that he explain to me what it was is DNA! lol!! He picked it up on Ben10. He said humans have normal DNA but Ben has the DNA of 10 aleins in it...

My Punjabi cousin is also the same, she speaks mostly Malay, but her dad speaks Punjabi, and ofcourse Hindi.

Its like that in Singapore, mix marriages are common but once you mix marriage, usually we pick up one languarge and its usually Malay if we are Muslims. Although some also pick up Tamil, if they are originally Tamil. Cause in School, there are only 3 languarges, Malay, Chinese, Tamil. You have to pick only one of these to go through school. Its compulsary. Most people of other race, like urself also, the Punjabi and Sikhs also takes Malay as a second languarge. So, sikhs and punjabi of Singapore speaks Malay very very well.

Actually, the beriyani from Pakistan & Arab... I really cant remember whats its called but the way its prepared. Its beriani. They just blend the spice in their own way, most other ingredients are all the same. And the arabs, the real authentic ones, they will cook the whole goat, the whole mutton, with its legs sticking out!! LOL!!

Hi Big MAC!! Thanks for stopping by!!

I think you really have a great idea! Healthy alternatives would be great. I should really start on those things. I think fruits will be a good way but I actually do not prefer fruits but I think I must start.

Not a very good day yesterday...

Religious occasion last night. Had too much halva! I love halva tania and really have a weakness for that. The one that my aunt brought in was splendid!! Really rare authentic one that can only be found in the UAE!! Its really toes licking good!! hmmm... but just a few spoons is 280 calories and mostly from Fat!! There's also Sugi!!

Someone suggested that I bring home the Halva but Id rather not! I think I will put on weight very fast if I bring that home. No way!!

Cooked this chicken dish also, which was quite healthy with vege and mushroons!! Had a lot of attention for it. Many ladies came to me to ask of the recipe. They find the dish so unusual and wanted to know details of it. Its actually super simple to make! Chef Wan's recipe taken from the Asian Food Channel - FROM THE GARDEN TO THE KITCHEN!!

First fry the chicken wings in batter ( just flour and salt will do)

Blend
1Onions
4 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger
cumin seeds a pinch
candlenut x 2
dried prawns a handful

Stir fry the blended ingredients
add vege

you may consider -
carrot
snow peas
pepper fruit
shitake mushroon
button mushroon

then add in coconut milk
stir till boild

salt to taste

I also added daun kunyit (tumeric leave) slices and lime leave

Chef Wan's recipe added rosemary, tyme, basil but I didnt. He also didnt add dried prawns in. chef did put tumeric leaves or lime leaf

Breakfast was
1 small chicken part
3 pc small chunks of beef in sause
a few vege around 4 pc ( most of the vege were finished.. darn!)
Had lunch at Singgah Selalu, was in JB to sign some papers to activate all the water, electricity or whatever else that is needed to pay for our new house in JB, Malaysia.

Lunch was at
1/4 plate of thai kuay teow
1 plate ABC ( haha... yes, I ate this!)
3 small buns with curry sauce
1/2 plate kai lan & beef stir fried with ginger!! BEST EVER!!
Too full to eat more!!

Usually when me & hubby goes to Singgal Selalu, we will eat so so many foods but today, we didnt. We spend about RM45 for everything. We usually spend at least RM110 on normal days eating so many many types of food till we were bloated! This time, I didnt even finished the food. My husband also didnt eat as much! He was so inspired by e, he had started his weight loss journey and now had lost almost 5KG, the difference is a lot since most of that weight comes from his tummy.

i just noticed i forgot to record my exercises... hmmm... i think i will reember to do it in future. ive done exercises a few times this week for 15 mins each on elliptical

Hey Cybermama!

Don't worry about the good from the religious occasion. It's good. I went to the gurdwara last week and also had prasad (halva) and I was just thinking, "OMG SO MANY CALORIES!!!!" But it's okay. It's God's food in my eyes.

That chicken dish sounds tasty. I LOVE mushrooms. Now if only I could cook :p

That's amazing that your husband is joining you in the weight loss journey :) How motivating!!

Great job on eating less. You're doing great Cybermama! :)

haha.. thats what I was thinking actually... so many calories!! I actually looked at the nurtitional value and it is so many calories... but its hard to get it, only on these occasions that I get to take them.

No breakfast... last minor operation to gums and tooth drilled and refilled for the root canal, this morning. I was thinking shit, if this still does not work.. Im doomed. Finally these few days, the sinus swelling went down completely. Exactly a month!! Only some people noticed the unbalanceness of my face cause the swelling is slight but nowadays its completely down. Sinus is no longer painful when I press on it.

Lunch was Fish & Chips from Banquet - quite ok but wont go there again. Cook was from China.. hard time trusting any food cooked or made by them.

Watched Tropic Thunder with husband... laughed and laughed.. I almost chocked! Simply love Jack Black and he say the funniest thing when he wanted to be released from the tree... ahaha "If you release me, I'll work on your pipe and even swallow the gravy!" haha...

But overall, I think the movie was really not worth going to the cinemas for, you can wait it for DVD but if you are a fan of Jack Black or any of them like me! You need to go to the Cinema just dont have high expectations so you wont get dissapointed.

Hey it looks like you're doing really good overall but I understand about the halvah. When I was 19 I joined an ashram and became vegetarian but I gained twenty pounds thanks in large part to the buttery suji halvah and milksweets. God I loved fresh burfi. And khir. (sweet rice).

Hey all...

Been really busy.. so many arrands. Had a few meetings with partners and supplier, discussing on the economic downturn and finding a way to benefit from it.

Finally had some time to sit and update the diary.

Anyway, watched Quantum of Solace. Opened in Singapore today so I had to get tickets. Not bad but I still prefer Casino Royale 10 time more!! I fell in love with Daniel Craig on that movie... but Quantum failed to rope me in...

Lunch
Fish in asam pedas
2 spoonful of rice
2 eggs omelette
1 very small fish fried

Dinner
1 bowl vege
2 drummettes
