Best of luck for the Big Sur Marathon next year, you are a far braver woman than me.

Thank you darling, but I am really a little chicken and I would never have considered the Big Sur Marathon, and I'm only thinking I might do it because I told myself I would, IF I had a fun time with this halfer--which I did.

I think bravery is something that sort of comes with age, maybe--at least for me! I was a scared little shy thing  when I was young, and these days not so much. With each year it's like, "Now, WHO am I trying to impress? And WHY?" Then I say "screw it" and go for it! Because it's true: sometimes you just don't know what you're capable of, and it's really nice to find out oh hey, I can do this! I am going to stalk you until I learn some belly dancing moves! :D

Too bad you didn't take my advice and get some sleep.

Ugh, I KNOW! There is always a next time....the important thing is I FINISHED, right? You were saying that. And I didn't know, really, if I could keep running. So pleasant surprises all around! :D

Glad you had a good run. You know, this just reinforces my decision to ride a century next year. If you can run like that, then dammit I can do 100 miles on a bike!

YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! :coolgleamA: Please do--make sure you train! LOL!! There was a really awesome guy on here, TomO, who was amazing as he dropped weight, and he rode miles and miles--for hours and hours, like it was NUTHIN! He inspired me to ride for 24 miles once--but I stupidly didn't pack any electrolytes and my legs were screwed up for an hour after! :ack2: Anyway, you can definitely do it, especially if you dedicate time and effort on your rides. Like I said before, the human body is amazing. If you don't have any debilitating factors out of your control, you might as well just give it your all! As long as it's safe, right?

Hey, I make up my own words all the time. My favorite is Alcoholist. It's a person who does an in depth study on alcohol and it's effects. :cheers2:

Kelly and Alta: thank you so much!

I am straight bowing down...you half marathon goddess you.

I have absolutely NO excuses for nixing my 5k.

You INSPIRE me!!

 Puleaze!!! :p But no, don't give up on your 5K! If you like running at all, and don't have issues that prevent it, for godssake, DO IT, it's great exercise! LOL! I love inspiration, I have this great book on World Champion boxers that I like to look at, that makes me want to train even harder, but for what? Definitely not recognition so much as self-satisfaction. No one really gives a shit about runners unless you're the best in the world! Except for family and friends, the most important people :grouphug:

feel free to stalk me anytime hun. I don't mind at all. I'm working on tracking down one of my older belydancing vids....just don't know where the hell it ended up. it's one from when I was able to do a lot more a lot faster.
I'm really glad you enjoyed your half marathon so much. it sounded like a great thing for you to do, and you absolutely rock for getting that 23rd place in your division. Bravo! :D

Great run.... and you are a BADASS!! Also, I think you could write a childrens book with the fable you were telling above :D Hope the rest of your weekend was as phenominal!!

:rotflmao: You have no idea! I used to bust out like a RAPPER with children-story-type tales, often of very Adult things ;) Thank you, my weekend was GREAT!

I am equally impressed and inspired to set a BIG fitness goal to achieve.

I would be honored to think that I could inspire anyone to set a BIG fitness goal---yes yes yes, please please please do something big! :smash:

You rock! You my dear girl, are my new hero.

Awwwwww, ED! Thanks :D Still, you can probably Pistol-whip me anyday!

I understand what you mean by excessive college reading... I've gained 15 lbs ever since the fall semestered started... Stress is crazy!

Hi there! :seeya: The "Freshmen Fifteen," I heard, isn't always true---but it WAS for me, dammit! :rotflmao: Best wishes on your education, and try to balance it with taking care of your body. It's a very hard feat but it can be done!!

My time pales in comparison but I had a blast doing the run :) I finished in 2:34.

HERE'S TO HAVING A BLAST!!! :beerchug: Your average was 11:34--you got to see all the action, hear the bands for a little bit longer, and people-watch AND know your registration fee when to a good cause! :D I'm glad we got to participate in the same run, how cool is that?? Let me know if there are any South Bay events you and your sister want to do, please? Thank you so much! :D

I am impressed and now more motivated than ever. I would also like to chat with you offline about your friend Chris. I may have some insight.

Thank you very much, Garn--I'll contact you later about Chris, thanks for the concern :) But really, he's going to ask his psychologist if we could have a 3-way session (LOL) so I can get some free therapy! LOL!

Congrats!.... Big Sur is quite a challenge. Jeff has flown hanggliders off of BS and the pics are incredible. Best of luck for that one:)

OMG, a coworker told me the wind is TERRIBLE and that people like, pass out, puke, fall over, etc. when they reach the finish line. I've heard more than once that people who run the Big Sur NEVER do it again! LOL. Still, it ain't no Iron Man ;) I MAY try to do a mini Tri and then maybe someday a full Tri, but I'm in no hurry! I'm still young, right? :D No rush! :D

Congrats on the time... well done...

Thank you very much! I think it's really cool of you to sign up for races and walk them to the best of your ability, even though you have a collapsed diagram and hiatal hernia! Most people would sit at home feeling sorry for themselves....

When I crossed the finish line yesterday, the clock was at 3:59!! LOL I got in just under the 4hr mark.

I walked the whole thing, that's the best I could do.

You really are a gifted runner. People train for years to get that fast! Way to go!

YAY! I didn't know you decided to go ahead and walk it anyway, good for you! Wasn't it a gorgeous day? The weather couldn't have been better! Good thing I buckled down and shelled out the $35 for my nice, lightweight sports sunglasses, though! They save my eyes!

Thank you :hug2: I know I'm blessed or lucky, or whatever, when it comes to running--my legs and knees were stiff and sore yesterday, and my calves and quads are sore today, but I am NOT INJURED! YAY!!! I have seen lots of runners with knee brace-things on and stuff like that. I'm grateful that my body is genetically favorable for this type of activity! But hell--I AM the one to get off my butt and train! I can't blame it ALL on genetics ;)

Congrats congrats my dear :coolgleamA: I knew you could do it. We always underestimate our capabilities. I'm very happy for you and your time. Your amazing and I'm glad to know you and get motivated by your accomplishments. Bravo ;)

-Sam

Thank you so much! I'm touched that you say that  And like I said, I'm looking forward to you getting faster and going the distance in your runs! :D you know, I've been racing for over 2 years before I decided to run a race longer than a 10K--and I always told myself I'd never do a marathon.....but I changed my mind. I'm sure it's going to SUCK (lol) but I was inspired to do it anyway! Why the hell not?

So, how was your celebratory drink? :cheers2:

It was great, thank you--I truly enjoyed my sparkling wine and I was sitting or laying down for the majority of Sunday, hanging out with Steve and Brandon and their 2 males housemates and their housemates' girlfriends, so it was a good time! Everyone, even the girls, at that house LOVES MMA, so I got to talk about fighting and fighters and all that :p

Hey, I make up my own words all the time. My favorite is Alcoholist. It's a person who does an in depth study on alcohol and it's effects. :cheers2:

I used to say, "I can mkae up any word if I want! Some asshole has to come up with them anyway, might as well be me!" :D

feel free to stalk me anytime hun. I don't mind at all. I'm working on tracking down one of my older belydancing vids....just don't know where the hell it ended up. it's one from when I was able to do a lot more a lot faster.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks so much, I actually didn't know it was going to be so fun! The weather was BEAUTIFUL, I mean stunning! and I was just in a great mood. I felt good, and it was really nice to be racing and not feel like it was racing for the first 6 miles--when I race 10Ks I usually am aiming for just under 7 minute miles, which is really hard on me. So it was like a leisurely jog for me to be going at 8 minute miles! I kept speeding up the whole race until I couldn't go any faster, at about the 11 mile mark. But yeah, the division placing was a very pleasant surprise for me :)

Normal stuff

Trops & Garn: Haha! Ya crazy fellas, ya ;)

This morning I was pleased that I was able to hobble to the basement and do laundry, although it was like I was all of a sudden 80 year old. Like I said, I am NOT injured, so I thank my lucky stars or ancestors or genetics to have a body like this.

I feel like an idiot for ever criticizing this body. Look at what it did for me! And it didn't fail me, nice work, Body! :D

Anyway, yesterday I spent with my buddies Steve and Brandon, and their very nice housemates and the housemates' girlfriends. It was a lazy day for them all, and I enjoyed myself immensely because they're all into Mixed Martial Arts like I am. We had some fun conversations.

Steve posted a comment on my profile that thrilled me, because I told him what a huge crush I have on Alexsander Emelianenko:

"Dearest Valerie,
Your Medal of [half] marathon completion as well as your runner number are sitting on my desk. I will patiently await your response.
Yours always,
Alexander"

and a picture of him! HA! :D

Last night I told myself I was going to eat pizza. I changed my mind and ate pizza--RAW pizza at La Vie (you know, crust made from raw, sprouted, soaked, organic flax seeds and cashew nutmilk cheese, etc.) and a huge salad and a big organic brown beer! I'm on the heaviest flow day of my cycle so this morning I was up to 149-this is typical. I think I'll start dieting again tomorrow. Today I had a raw organic Goji berry type cookie thing, Thai soup, raw cheddar cheese and HuRaw chips, and a black bean and prawn burrito for lunch. I need to add up the calories and will, eventually. I think I'm going to start a 1800-2000 calorie diet with my normal exercise, tomorrow, to aim for the low 140s, if not 140 lbs, by November.

Belly dancing now has a priority, I simply MUST practice and improve!

I'm going to start rock climbing, hopefully this weekend.

I'm going to resume running, but not for a few days--tomorrow is BD and Yoga, Wednesday I want to weight train (YAY! :D) and Yoga it up, and Thursday I want to Kickbox with Psycho Michael (AND Yoga 2). Friday seems like a good time for a trail run :)

I'm going to try to weight train 2 days a week, again, like I did--this will most likely bring my running down to 2 days a week, which is fine--Kickboxing makes 3 days of intense Cardio.

And that's the plan. In a month or so I'll read up more of my book and my Personal Trainer's Handbook on marathon running and decided if and when I want to start training.....

I'm about to check in on you nice people, and see what's up with YOUR jorney....:D
