Hi everyone!! congrats to all for doing so well. I just love reading everyones comments and it motivates me sooooooooooooo much. I am into my 7th week(7 weeks and 2 days) and I have been really naughty for week 5, 6, and part of seven but am back on track now. I had heaps of social events and started out so strong but then went a little crazy. I have lost 16 kgs and 47 cm from around my body. I keep thinking that if I had stayed in control I would be even lighter. I wanted to have lost 20 kg by next wednesday for my 8 week weigh in but it looks like I wont make it. Take my word for it people that if your thinking of sneaking something in.DON"T because we are only cheating ourselves and the regret is horrible. It may not show up in the scales over a couple of days but it slows everything down until your body can get back into its fat burning mode again.

I do have a queston if anyone can answer for me, I have being getting some large tiger prawns and making myself and prawn cocktail with my salad etc, I know they say everything should be measured raw but how do others go with prawns when they area already cooked. Do you think I should stop buying them? its just a hassle to cook them myself and I find I am really looking forward to eating them as they are a big change to what I have been eating.
Anyway all the best everyone and I will be in touch nect wednesday and let you know how my fat burning skills go for my 8 week weigh.:)

Yeah its Friday....

hi everyone, (3rd time posting) im in WA so many of you maybe tucked up in bed or lucky enough to be having a night out.:)

Bam & DeeDee23 - i have lost my motivation for the past 7-8 months for all sorts of reasons. tried to read a few motivation books but could never get trhough the first page and know they are collecting dust under the bed. have either of you tried any books? i eventually found a fantastic book that i can highly recommend written by Star Jones reynolds about her own life and the turn arounds she has made.

BeeBee - thanks for the tip for the ticker, it work.:D

does anyone have any interesting brekky ideas?

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Dunno Why!!!

I dunno why but my weight have been up!!! by 600g... doesnt sound a lot but i guess its becos i have just finished my dinner and drank a lot of water... But I decided to update my ticker as that weight... cos I want to warn myself that I need to loss weight.... Anyway all of you have advise me that I have to have trust in this program that it works as long as I am following it 100%.... I will do just that and I am sure my weight will be losing off my body... although nearly 8kg in nearly 2 months is not a lot but than I am losing more weight that I ever do in my life so I am still happy about that... and also I want my health back!!! that's my ultimate goal...
So all, let continue losing the weight!!! :p

Babyegg- Try not to weigh yourself, ive stoped now... only because each time i get on the scales they tell me exactly the opposite of what i want to know..

So stay away from them if you can.. just do your weekly measurements :)
Besides weighing yourself in the morning is better, dont weigh yourself after eating & drinking water.. of corse you will be heavier.. dont put yourself through the dissapointment..

Keep up the great work!! We are all in this together :)

I am finding it really hard to get back into the program 100%. This last 10 kg is really hard to focus on. I was so good for a couple of days and then the hunger pains started. I know once you get through the fiirst week the hunger leaves you, I just can't seem to get through.

Bam - you look like the tennis player Anna Konakova(not sure how to spell it). I didn't think paprika was allowed on the program (isn't it derived from red peppers?)

Netski - keep strong.

karol

Hey sweetie,

you hang in there, if i'm going to have to be strong so should you. I had a downer at my "10 to go" phase.

it was really hard, i had to basically throw away all tempting food from home(poor hubby), catch my bus from another stop so i wouldn't walk past the coffee shops ,delis, takeaways and change the way i do my shopping. I went to the fruit and veg shop, the butcher and sent my hubby into the supermarket for everything else.

I stayed at home and cleaned!

But i'm better now.

Whatever you do that helps you, do it at 100% find another hobby or go get your hair done. Treat yourself and stay OUT OF THE KITCHEN!:p

Thinking of you all today.

I'm off to clean- isn't it a never ending merry-go-round!

Karol-

Thanks for the compliement about Anna Kornikova (who knows how to spell it lol)

You will be fine Karol, hang in there.. I have 25kg's to go and am feeling the temptations as bad as anything, but im thinking of the road ahead and being able to shop in skinny peoples shops LOL :)

Keep ya head up you'll be fine darling!!

Netski yes, I think all of us can relate to those feelings. Not turning to food for comfort is as much an emotional hardship as it is physical. This journey is a huge learning curve. Sometimes it takes more than the usual distractions to help us get past these feelings. Eg. I know i've had times where I have been really hungry, pacing around looking for things to do, like good old housework:rolleyes: and a friend has rang with a big problem and needs help. Straight away I am distracted. I reckon sometimes the best way to get past these feelings is to do something time consuming for someone else. It takes the focus off myself, and I feel good because I've given someone else a hand. I reckon thats exactly how you must feel when you post your encouraging comments on here for us, and know you've helped us, and when you put those fabulous photo's up for us. I agree with everyone else WOW!! You were gorgeous before the weightloss, not to mention now.

And for all who are finding it hard, remember, summer is around the corner. Go into the shops and check out the stuff we will be wearing!!!! We are going to have the best wardrobes ever.
BAM my comments about Netski being gorgeous before the weightloss apply just as much to you.
4ukids it probably is better to stop buying them. The program is pretty specific about that. Once I was caught out with a cooked chook. To compensate, I had less than what I would normally have. I guess you could get a whole heap and cook them all in weight proportions, then freeze individual serves. Then you can have them ready to go.
Also for ones whose motivation seems to be waning, sometimes its overtiredness. Catching up on extra zzzz's can make a world of difference. I know I find it harder at the end of the week, especially when I know we have a busy weekend.

I prepared cucumber at lunch yesterday but they were bitter and I skipped them. Does anyone know of the consequences of not eating your veggies??

Thanks Bam

Bam, I know that I shouldnt be weghing myself that often... Staying away from them is rather difficult.. but dun worry I am not feeling down that I am not losing weight or wat so ever... This morning I weigh myself (again!!) without taking any food.. I am 82.8KG but I am not going to change the ticker as next week will be my 2nd month liao.. so I will change the ticker than... Dun worry!! I am happy that I am losing!!! Lets all work hard to achieve our goals!!! :D

Paprika & Prawns

Karol - you are so right! I was forgetting that paprika is derived from a member of the capsicum family :(...and it is definitely red . Bugger, bugger, bugger! (sorry to any offended by that  ).
~BAM~ and anyone else who is on the hunt for a spice mix that includes paprika...don't do it!
4UKids - It clearly says in our books that all food should be weighed raw (it also clearly says NO RED CAPSICUM *blush*)...so I'm thinking this would include prawns. What do you mean by them being a hassel to cook? They cook so fast! You could try buying a heap of green prawns, dehead and peel them all (and wash them if that's what you do) and then divide/weigh the whole lot up into your allowed amounts and cook up each lot separately. Bag them, label them and freeze them. I've never frozen peeled, cooked prawns before, but I think they would thaw out ok. I know shelled, cooked prawns thaw out well...you just put the frozen ones in cold tap water for a bit. Maybe try it with just one lot first...they aren't cheap - but they are soooooooooo good! :D

Hello everyone I'm new here

Hi everyone I'm new here. Started the programme in July and have lost about 11 kg. Incredible isn't it? I had major problems even losing 1 pound before! Looking forward to sharing stories and recipes with all of you.:)

had steamboat last night. Its my fren's b'day. We had a great time and of cuz, I ate more than I should. Today our whole dept is going to have high tea buffet as some sort of farewell thingy for our colleague. It will be a spoilt sport if I don't come. So I decided to give myself a breakie (within reasons with as little carbo as possible) for the weekend. I must tell you, its soooooooo difficult to overcome the eating monster once you eat more than your allowance. The blood sugar rose sooooo high and you can the hardest time to control your craving. My advice is DON'T EVER cheat on your program.

Tomorrow, there is another friend's gathering and I am prepared to bring my own food along or just drink water thru-out. As for the monday important office dinner in Lawry Ribs' Restaurant, I have already make sure the restaurant prepared something with no sugar, no carb and no starch! I am starting my regular cohen program on Monday and nothing is going to stop me!

I heard a disappointing news yesterday. I can't surf the net as easily as I used to be using office computer during my workdays. I heard that our boss is monitoring the staff's internet activity using company bandwidth. The way they are doing it was pretty unfair 'coz I don't eat out (aka don't go out of office during lunch hr), therefore I surf the net during my lunch hour. Or I arrive early in the office to check my private emails and the message boards. I never surf the net during working hours! only before office hours, after office hours and during my break! Because of that, I was one of the high internet activity user! Crap!

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all surviving your weekends Ok. I have had a few nasty temptations again. My brother and fiance were here for dinner & I cooked up an elaborate meal for them and then sat down to soup! And I have just arrived home from a babyshower at a lovely restaurant which obviously specialises in pastries etc..oh my the chocolate! But I am very pleased to say that I did NOT deviate. But I felt very sorry for myslef and the next few months loomed like a life time in front of me!
However, the conversation moved to Christmas and just how quickly it was approaching - which put things back into perspective. And my friends want to go away before xmas for a girls weekend and that also motivated me...how great to go away and actually join in the activities, go swimming, get up and dance like a crazy woman! Yee-Ha bring on the skinniness!
I really feel for those of you struggling right now. It is very hard and unlike drugs and alcohol we can not avoid food altogether - no one can lock us away and make sure we dont have access to it. We all share this struggle and we all need to be kind to ourselves - we are doing something about it. Can't ask for more than that.
Be as strong as you can - you deserve to feel good about yourselves. And don't beat yourself up when you have a slip up...onward and upward. I need you to be strong so I can get through this as well! You people are my rock I tell you! My husband thinks this forum is a great idea afterall we are the only ones who know how it feels. WE CAN DO IT!
Thanks for all the great reads. I don't feel so alone. I'm currently hiding out in the computer room as my hubby has just cooked up a massive pot of spag. bol. Yum. But..It is only food and I don't need it. Might go have a nice long shower and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror...Reality check!
Please hang in there everyone.
Lots of love and huge hugs of encouragement.

Thanks for the advice guys. I can only get frozen green prawns and I cant cook them, then freeze them!!! I am really scared what is going to happen to my weight lose over this week since I ate the pre cooked ones..... Its great to have you all here to ask advice and get such wonderful support. Thanks again.

Great Day

Evening all... I wanted to share my great day with you all... although I did get a ticket today which is crap! But... we had the Melbourne meet up out at Smoken Joes and let me tell you how great it is to meet up with people also doing the program, I have renewed vigour to achieve this, to defeat it no matter what!

My husband was laughing at me tonight though because we were watching "V for Vendetta" and there is a scene where Natalie Portman is in a prison cell and the food is just handed to her through the door and I said to him "I wish there was a Cohen's prison"! Can you believe those words came out of my mouth?

The lesson in that is that a Cohen's prison would be "easy", but what we are doing here is trying to re-shape our relationship with food. So each day that passes, each difficult moment we face is teaching us something and making us stronger.

So if we didn't have those challenges this program wouldn't be worth the money we spent. As much as we all signed up to lose weight, I'm sure many of you would agree that what we want most is to have a healthy relationship with food and above all... with ourselves. So... next time I feel like deviating I'm going to look for the lesson behind the lemon slice, behind the greed and behind the emotions! I want to lose weight but, ultimately, I want to be in control - I want to say no to chocolate cake because I don't feel like it, not because I think I shouldn't have it or someone is telling me I shouldn't have it. I want to decide what I eat and why I eat it!

Stay strong!

Don't stress!

Now I feel bad...:(. I didn't mean to freak you out. I can't imagine that there would be much difference in the weights of raw verses cooked prawns. Please don't be worried about how it will affect your loss. Be more worried about me...I have been having that spice mix (which includes Paprika - a definite no-no) with almost every meal since I discovered it a week ago ! Relax and don't be scared...I'm sure that your loss will be fantastic!

P.s.

P.S. I had prawns for dinner... YUMMO.
Don't worry about having the pre-cooked ones, I accidently did that when I first started, didn't think anything of it and then re-read my program and had a melt down! You will still lose!
Now I buy green prawns, take off the tails, weigh them out and then season them with garlic, red-wine vinegar, salt and pepper and then stir fry them with some vegies (whatever I have) and hey presto... yumminess! They taste so much better that way too because they are a lot more flavoursome and yes, I have freezed them once cooked and heated them up at work and they still taste brilliant and I haven't died yet!

Another topic for discussion that would help me a lot is 'desk job syndrome'... does any one else sit at a desk all day and have any strategies for overcoming boredom (even when you're really busy) so that you don't want to eat everything in sight? And tips other than going to the toliet, because I do that enough already! One thing I have done is each time I have to go to the kitchen to fill my water bottle I make sure I am chewing gum so that I don't hoe into the biscuit or cracker jars. Your suggestions would be much appreciated!

Oh and for all those entertainers or party-goers wanting a tip on surviving office functions etc... be the perfect host even if it isn't your party, make sure everyone has drinks, offer to get them drinks, hand out food if you can hack it, it keeps you busy and avoids the temptation... and don't be alone with the food!

Ok night night everyone... I'm hungry so I'm going to bed! That is one strategy I wish I could use all day long!
