L-Jay : Dun worry, your post are not irritating =) Its nice to know wat each other is going thru, so keep those coming. Hope you have a good trip.

mumbine : Good for you and do enjoy those pre cohens indulgence

Carissa : Congrats on the pregnancy~~~!

reb : I think that person you know had actually bought a copy of somebody else plan (I heard of ppls selling them off on e-bay as well. And fornight is right, we never know whether she would be able to keep the weight off after she stop.

fornight : I think if u minced up the garlic and ginger for ur marinate, u should actually weight them. Coz you will end up eating them eventually right? Thats wat I do for my marinate coz I grind them so would end up eating them.

rjm : That email you got really sound weird and it really sound like they have contacted the wrong person. (Maybe someone with an identical name?)

I seem to not be having a good week this week, there isn't much weight loss(being moving 1kg up and down and just stucked there) so think its a slow week for me. And had not been able to sleep well at night and ended up sick for the day. Took medical leave and end up sleeping all the way till 5 that I missed lunch so I am having a late dinner(Dun worry, I dun sleep so early so it would be more that 1 and a half hrs before sleeping time). Looking forward to dinner, going to make the stew again with other type of veges =p.

Momiji I usually try to remove those marinade garlic and ginger that are sticking around the meat when I grill or stir fry them so technically I did not eat them...hahaha....anyway I don't really minced them till it is soo small 'coz I did not use any machine for mincing.

I just added chilli padi in my omelette just now.....oh god!!! I can't believe how much I miss my chilli~~~

Hi All

Thankyou for your wonderful congratulations, it is really weird now that I could eat whatever again I still cant cuase I am too naseous !! :(

Lizzi - in answer to your question no you dont do the refeed basically you ring and tell them your pregnant and they say okay call us in 12 months if you want to go back on !! You will have to pay and start all over again which is a bit crappy seeing as I have only been on it for two months. But I dont really mind cause I get to have a baby !! You cannot stay on the program in any way and they cannot put the program on hold for you cause your hormones change so much ! that is what I was told.

Juzzy - I forgot to say Congrats to you the other day think I will be due late feb am not entirely sure !!

Hi there everyone!

Just wanted to say hello and let you know I have been reading your posts for some time but have been a bit scared to write in.. I decided to go for it so here I am!!

I have been on the cohen's program for 4 weeks now, and have lost 7.2 kilos so far. I'm really happy with my loss and I am starting to notice it in my clothes which is very exciting!! My goal weight is 60 kilos so I still have around 15 kilos to lose.

I am a 20 year old student, struggling with my weight since I was 5 years old. This has been an endless battle for me and has resulted in ballooning, starvation and a stint in hospital with a naso-gastric feeding tube when I was 15 years old. I am so happy with myself for the weight i have lost (heathily) and am looking forward to the future!!!

I Hope to get to know you all really well. Don't hesitate to chat to me, i'm in a bit of a slump at the moment, after just having a knee reconstruction. Feeling sore and sorry for myself so any support will help!!!

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Katherine

Evening all,

Just been reading over everyone's posts and you all seem to be doing great.
I feel as if I need some more support and guess just by reading all the posts that should be enough but don't think it is. Have decided that the last 7.5kgs to lose I will just have to put my head down and bum up and go for it.

Reb Dont you just hate to hear of someone picking up the plan for next to nothing? Never mind it obviously hasn't been designed for her and so maybe she won't do as well as the rest of us here. Oh sorry:rolleyes: that may sound a bit tongue in cheek LOL.

Jasmine Just love the visualization of all the bad things that they were putting in their mouths. Will have to try that myself, sounds as if it work's.

Juzzy & Carissa Congratulations
This program was designed to let overweight people who couln't fall pregnant lose the weight so that they could have a baby. My neice went on the Cohen's and she fell pregnant after about 12/15kgs. There is always life after the joyful event and you already know what to do so once you have finished breast feeding (if you do) then you can just jump back on the diet. Once again Congrats.

LJay The eating before 9pm rule is basically because you need to stop eating 2 hrs before sleeping (unless you're a shift worker) so that HGH is released at night and eating too late will interfere with that process. However, even if you are running late, you must still have that meal. Without protein in your system, your body cannot burn fat. (That is from my plan).

Magic Lea How are you going? Haven't heard from you for a few days or are you too busy losing more weight:D Good for you, keep it up.

Big Daddy Still not hearing from you. Is there a problem? If so maybe someone here can help.;)

By for now.

pinky8484 Welcome here Pinky!!! I am also a newbie here. I just started Cohen for 1 week (an interim cohen, exactly like regular cohen but bigger portions - to my liver) and tomorrow is my 1st weekly weigh-in......GOSH....I am a bit nervous!!!!

I went to my friend's house to pick up her toaster oven and was actually feeling a bit giddy. I think my blood pressure has dropped significantly and I thought maybe it was because I am down with flu or something. Its nothing very serious but I have decided to start measuring my BP daily again.

Well, when I was at my friend's house, she confided to me that her hubby (mid 30s) is suffering from fatty liver and she asked me whether I know anything that he should do in his diet. I told her maybe he should cut down on carbs 'coz he is a BIG rice eater. He eats like HEAPS of rice (like a HILL) every meal.

When I reached home I discovered that my bros have bought POTATO CHIPS!!!!! The worse thing is its in Thai Flavour which I absolutely LOVES!!!!! I stared at them with all my vengence and they just laughed in front of me! One of them even *bat his innocent eyes* and said "I know u like them so I bought them especially for you..." I told him to keep them elsewhere. I will *taste* them when I reached my targeted weight. These two DEMONS!!! They think they can sabotage my diet while my mum is away (away for the weekend)!!!

Good for You, Fornight

Hi Fornight

Well done on resisting the temptation of the chips. I know how you feel with brothers that try to tempt you. I have a son who has his mates over on Friday and Saturday nights after golf and they buy pizza or chinese for tea and always have some left over so they bring it in to me and of course I think I can resist but NO I have to have just a little taste. I have now banned them from bringing it into the house and told them they must keep it in the fridge in my sons rooms as I really cann't resist if it's sitting there looking at me. So keep it up Fornight Did you find the oil spray in Singapore instead of using Olive Oil? Must be there somewhere.

Cheers.

gayegel: I am still using olive oil. I can't find the spray and cook in my local supermarket. I may have to try looking it in some large supermarket in the town area.

Intro

Hi everyone

Just thought I'd introduce myself - I am getting back on the Cohen's wagon today :) I joined initially at the clinic Nov 13th 2005, from Nov 13th to Dec 13th I'd lost 10.1kg, getting down to 95.3kg. Since December last year I have been up and down but mostly up as I have not stuck to the program like I should have, so I have put on about 5kgs overall since that initial 4 week loss.

I want to do this, and I want to do it BEFORE my 12 months is up. So here I sit writing this post in the hope that I can glean some support and inspiration from those who do this program. It is a strict program and it is a complete lifestyle change but it absolutely works! I am female in my 30's and don't want to live my life always having to make adjustments for my weight (can't wear this, can't do that, can't live as long!)

My goal is 56kilos - that is 44 kilos away for me right now. But today I start back and I hope the next four weeks has the same impact as the initial 4 weeks I did.

Off to drink my water and have my breakfast now,
Borderaussie
SW - 106.6
CW - 100.0
GW - 56.0
44 kg to go.

Welcome BorderAussie Good to see you found this forum. You are sure to get lot's of support here. Keep us all posted as you go along your journey, we're all taking the same road.

I had hoped to move my ticker this morning but unforetunately not to be. Oh well will just have to try harder this week. I really think that the key to a great weight loss must be to stay home and out of temptations way. Have to become like the bears and hibernate for awhile.

Hope everyone's having a great Cohens weekend. Bye for now.

Hi everyone,
Welcome pinky8484, good on you for overcoming those eating disorders. I know how hard it is. This is a much better way for you to lose weight, and you won't regret starting. Lucky for you that you don't have to exercise while doing this so you can rest up and let your knee heal. There's usually someone to chat to on here, and always plenty of posts to read to keep you amused and motivated.
Borderaussie, good luck getting back on track. I have just managed to get myself back on track and found it harder than when I started the first time. Just stay focused, and if you are feeling down get on here and read back over all the posts. It helps.
gayegel, sounds like you are getting really close to your goal weight. Keep it up, you'll be there in no time!!
Fornight, you did so well to resist those chips. Aren't men (boys) terrible. Someone posted on a previous forum I was on that they were going to keep a list of everything they had resisted that they really loved, so when they finished they would eat it. I did this last time I was on the diet, and when I finished I ate some of the things and found they no longer tasted as good as they used to. It makes you feel a little better to know you have a list of things and that you will be able to eat them again.
Excellent weight loss!
I've had a little bit of weight loss this morning, which is good, but even though I didn't have much weight loss last week I took my measurements this morning and have lost another 10.5cm. This means that in 2 weeks I have now lost 6.5kg and 23.5 cm's. So for all of you who are having slow weeks, don't forget to take your measurement because even if the scales don't show it, you will probably still be losing weight.
Have a great day everyone.
Talk to you all soon

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick post to say thanks for the good wishes....my mum came through her operation well and is now resting at home.

Will post again once I actually get some time to read through the many pages of posts. Hoping to start again tommorow and resist all the goodies I have been goiven for the cadbury's promotions I am doing (I think i'll have to start refusing this work - the goodies are fantastic!).
Cheers,

Myshy

Hi Everyone,

thanks for your messages! Its nice to see that there are other people out there who are going through the same thing! I know it can be hard but we just gotta try and stick to it.

I went to the doctor and he said my knee is healing very well, and the weight loss will help me get back on the netball court even quicker. I have lost 7.2 kilos which is a lot less weight for my knee to be supporting!

Fornightwell done on your loss, 4.3 kilos in one week is amazing!!!! no wonder you are happy about it, keep it up! Also, a tip for your BP. Are you drinking the prescribed amounts of water per day? The low bp could be caused by low blood volume. You might want to get your haemoglobin levels checked as this can also cause dizziness.

rjmI know what u mean about the measurements. Last week i only lost 800 grams, but i still lost around 10 cms in total. Its good to see that, because when I got on the scales i was quite disappointed, but when i saw it in my meaurements, was happy again!!

borderaussiecongrats for making the decision to start up again. You will do a lot better this time around, without the holidays like christmas getting in the way. It must have been so hard to diet over christmas, so well done in giving it a second shot! Good luck!

I am self sabotaging

I don't know what I am up to, I just keep eating whatever I feel like. I have been reasonably controlled for several months but recently can't seem to stop nibbling despite several fresh starts and promises to myself that I will re commit! Yesterday and today I ate junk in big, binge like quantities, all carbs, and of course stacked on about 2.5 kg, just like that. I am very annoyed with myself. I knew that would happen but I did it anyway. I get good support from this forum so don't know what else to try. Its all down to me and I seem to keep setting myself back. I think like LJay I need to commit to daily posting and honest reporting about my deviations or lack of them. I never lie to the forum... so maybe that will keep me on the straight and narrow because its embarassing to constantly report my deliberate and conscious eating off the plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No point starting today because I have been an unhealthy glutton all day. Tomorrow though will be different. I seem to be worst at night, which is weird as I have not been a night time eater in the past. I generally get through the day ok then pig out at night while watching TV. I should probably stop watching TV! Anyway I am hereby committing to making a last thing at night report of whether I had a deviation free cohens day and I also commit to do this daily and be totally honest about even the smallest tatse of anything which passes my lips but shouldn't! So please put up with my daily reports of whether I have done the right thing or not. I will also adjust my ticker tomorrow to reflect the new and heavier me. grrrrrr

just some questions about cheeses. I don't eat cheese very often so I don't really understand the different sorts of cheese allowed. I know Cheddar and parmesem but they are not allowed. I know I saw Mozarella cheese and Feta in the supermarket but I don't think I see any Ricotte. I saw some pieces of Brie though. Is Brie allowed? Cream Cheese is what kind of cheese? allowed??? Are we allowed to add cheese (eg mozarella) to the chicken or meat that we are cooking?

Fornight - I wish Brie was allowed, its my favourite cheese!! However, it has one of the highest fat contents out of all types of cheese so it is not allowed. Mozzarella, Low Fat Feta, Cottage and Ricotta cheeses are the only ones allowed. Also, you cannot mix proteins so meat and cheese is a no no. The only way I eat my cheese allowance is as part of a salad, or i melt it ontop of 2 crispbreads with tomato and mixed herbs.. yummo!!

Hope this helped

katie

Hi Everyone,

Well, my 7 days completely off the program resulted in a 3 kg gain - but I am confident that it will all go just as quickly as it went on. I was totally off the program thogh - big drinking nights, bread, rice etc etc.
So, I'm being super strict girl again. I'm not going to move my ticker - I'll wait and see what my weight is on Saturday.

Have a great week next week everyone!
Bella

Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all well and have enjoyed your weekends!

You know what, I sent the email regarding the Mangoes ages ago when we were all talking about it AND guess what? I still haven't heard back! What's going on? I thought Rosemary said they were there to support and answer any questions when needed???

Thanks everyone for saying my loss in 2 weeks has been good BUT since it has been that time of the month, you know what, I haven't lost anything this week...Maybe I need a new scale!

However, a lot can be said about Cohen's - I had no PMS and the cramps, well, they are gone too...

Gosh! I have to say EVERYONE here is so MOTIVATIONAL! I look at your tickers and are all dropping the weight so easily...I am so proud of you all!

This forum is a life saver, so to all the newbies, welcome!

Before I forget, CONGRATULATIONS JUZZY &CARISSA!
This is such an exciting time for the both of you and I wish you a wonderful pregnancy and all the best for the future...

Gayegal
is that the goal weight set by Cohen's?

I am feeling like my goal weight is a bit hard for me and I want to drop it to about 65 - 70 kg. Is that possible?

Also, what do I do about Fasting? I have a religious obligation, what will Cohen's do about that? Will they issue me a certain plan to follow, like a refeed and then I can get back onto my original plan?

RJM I hope you got that email sorted out...It sounds top doddgy! I too haven't received anything like that...

Congratulation fortnight on your weight loss...See it aint so bad to be on the interim, you are doing well!!!

Myshy glad to hear everything is ok with your Mum!

the old me I know its hard...Perhaps you are a time where you might need a refeed...THey do say i fyou start to feel hungry then its probably a good time for you to consider a refeed...I am not a 100% sure about this, but perhaps you might need to talk to a consultant...
If that isn't the case, you should be proud of yourself...Look how far you have come! Also, you aren't that far off your goalweight...

L-Jay I don't think you post often...I think, if you need to post or you want too, then please, do it...We are all hear to get through this as easily and as quickly as possible! We are all finding comfort amongst each other...and as a result we are forming bonds and becoming friends....

Please, keep posting! ;)

Finally, sorry for the LOoooooong Post...I probably took up a whole screen myself ...Hope to hear from you all soon!
