Good Morning All

Well it looks like I am number two !! I have found out that I am pregnant !!! :D

I cant believe it before starting this program I had been trying for over a year and finally accepted that it wasn't going to happen and that I may as well get on with my life, which is why I started Cohens.

Guys I am so thrilled and even though this means I have to stop the program I can deal with that, so far I have lost 11.4 kilos and would have loved to have kep going but hey I'm going to have a baby !! A little brother or sister for my son ...

So I just wanted to say to you all, I think you are the most amazing, strong, caring, and motivational people I have ever come across and I could not have made it this far without your support. I feel very privileged to know you alll.

I will be dropping in on the forum to see how you are all going and will write a quick hello and know that once I have had the baby (think about February) I will be back in here on track to start all over again. Most of you will be gone by then !

So thankyou to all of you for being there for me, I wish you all of the luck and happiness along the rest of your journey.

Carissa XX

Morning all!

I love all the motivational posts! And some of you are doing just so well.

MagicLea you are just powering ahead and I can almost see you beaming through the internet!

fornight: I just wonder if you weigh the garlic and ginger as part of the allowance? That was a mistake I made at first because I didn't realize. I do so love your food adventures!

Carissa:
Congratulations!! Seems there is something about this time of year - pregnancy is on the rise. I am very pleased for you and trust all goes well. Glad you will be looking on us. Just a question for you and Juzzy - when you get pregnant, do they put you through refeed? Do you get a stay on your program so that you can finish later? Or do they offer an alternative plan of any kind? Just curious.

Jasmine: Well done for your strength and determination. It is so nice to see the creativity you have as you think it through - and if that helps, go for it! You did so well in the face of a good Croatian cook.

mumbine: The program has you in - hook, line and sinker! That 110% commitment works a treat when it is public. There comes a time when everyone sees the results, and you find that you are really doing this for yourself, and you see their surprise so that they can't help but comment - believe me, that is motivation in itself!

cryss: It is tough when you feel like you are the one who has more to lose and others aren't aware of how you would just love to be in their shoes - and they don't see it. I am pleased that there seem to be a group of people here who have around the same amount to lose or more, so you should be good motivation for each other. Will look forward to your daily posts - and thank you for your honesty.

L-Jay: I love your posts, never apologise for their length, and keep posting! You are right, you deserve this for yourself, so stay with it! Thanks for sharing how you feel about it - is the pmt any more balanced today?

big daddy: I haven't looked back, but am I right in remembering you were still waiting for your program to arrive? Must be nearly time to start. Look forward to hearing.

rjm: It will be interesting to see just what weight you end up being. The main thing is that it is the weight you are happy enough to stay at for life. Then you can celebrate and embrace it rather than always wanting to escape it. That is a hugely different mindset. About the job at the christian school, they are very in depth in their interviews, and I'm glad you feel there is a possibility. Thinking of you and waiting to see!

Arowan: Hang in there. Wait and wait and wait until you get what you want or are starving hungry. So so close! I can't wait until that point. It has to be any day now. Do you know how long your refeed will be?

PinkVirgo: I very much appreciated your post. And great to hear from you. It is good to hear the answer about the refeed, and it should keep us all focused. One of the things I would like to know is just how little a thing can cause a deviation, and how that affects it. And can he tell that people have basically not cheated but simply had a minor or accidental error?

Got to go, so everyone enjoy their Friday.

another one

Another pregnancy - woo hoo. I dont know, the things people have to do to keep warm hey. Congratulations Carissa. It's so lovely to hear you and Juzzy so obviously happy about your wonderful news.

lizzi I can have pmt any where from 2 weeks before that TOM. I also dont sleep very well the days leading up to it, so the way I feel is often a combination of those things. I'm feeling better today, thanks to all of you, but a bit stressed because we are going away this weekend, and theres so much organising to do. But I have written a big list, so I dont have to rely on my brain power.

Everyone I had an idea. We all like to see ticker movement. And I thought this may be good for ones who are finding it hard not to stray from the program.
How about if we made a ticker, of so many days, say 60 to start with, and moved our ticker for everyday we dont deviate? I was thinking that seeing it like that could be motivational. I might try it and see how it looks.

arrowan you will soon be on the after cohens thread :)

Jasmine its almost hard to believe that 3 days can make such a difference hey? But thats what makes this program so much easier to stick to.

Alrighty, my weight was up 1/2 a kg this morning and I believe its because I didnt drink anywhere near enough water yesterday, and the other reason - get this - as I was going to bed last night, I remembered I hadnt had my last 2 crackers and fruit. That has to be a first!!! Me actually forgetting about some food I can eat:eek: . Anyway, I wasnt really hungry so decided to forgo it. But haa haa, at 1.00am when I couldnt sleep and the hunger came on then, I got up and ate them. I remember someone saying way back their consultant said fruit and crackers can be eaten any time, not just before 9.00pm. I dont know if it was that, or more than I'm holding extra fluid from not drinking enough water. But I sure as hell aint doing that again lol.

I'm going away this weekend, so probably wont post until Monday. So I'll look forward to catching up on how everyone's weekend went.

deviation ticker

okay, I worked out how to do the ticker, but the only way I could do it was to use the exercise ticker. The events ticker measures in months, not days. I thought the cake and scales appropiate considering the subject. The only thing I havent been able to do is bring my signature up closer to the end of my post, so my posts take up so much space.

L-Jay I think it was advisable not to eat after 9pm 'coz HGH is released during the night and we should let it does its magic while we are asleep. In my opinion, if you eat the crackers in the middle of the night, the body will be busy digesting it instead of releasing HGH.

I find myself sleeping so much better now ever since I am on cohen's interim diet (but I did not eat my vit/mineral supp for evening dosage). My eyes get tired at around 11pm and I will fall into deep sleep within 30 min. One thing I notice also is that I tend to cough a lot around 2am to 3am. My friend told me that lungs start to detox during this period of time. I think I read somewhere that HGH is for repair as well and that means they are also doing something to my lungs (which also tend to be weak but not sooooo weak).

I think my water loss is quite substantial 'coz my legs are not swollen anymore (despite the fact that I drink a lot of water at night). My pants (the thigh and calves) feel so much looser.

Hi everyone,
l-jay I have just realized that is 58kg you would have lost when you get to goal my god that is fantastic. I bet your family and friends can’t believe the diffrence in you. And I bet some people would not even recognize you?

I am a little confused a person I know picked up a copy of the Cohen’s diet along with the refeeding program with it for only$20 at the markets and she has lost 12 kg in the last month so we compared programs and guess what we have the same food groups the same fruit and veg the only difference is the grams hear is a example I can have for meal 1]
45g of cheese +75g of veg and she can have 45g or cheese but 80g of veg
Plus she gets 5 crisp bread per day and 2 fruit where I can have 8 crisp bread and 3 fruit
Her refeeding program goes for 16 days day 1
Protein add 30g + old protein
Veg add 30g + old veg
Fruit add 1 good fruit
Bread none
Milk none
Carbs have 5 as per your original eating plan
Alcohol none

also on her program she has crossed out plain youghurt and put in vanilla

It makes me wonder do they just change everyones program to be just a little bit different so no 2 are the same ?
And why would anyone sell there program I would think I would like to keep mine for life

I'm sorry for being so glum and i guess I'm a little p off that i had to pay big bucks for mine and she only paid 20 dollars not fair :)

reb dun be upset....our program is personalised and there are blood tests done to ensure our refeed program prepare us when we are after cohen and do not gain back all the weight we lost. Who knows what will happen to the lady when she stops cohen (a bit mean of me to hint that!)?

Oh god!! my office is having lunch-in today and the lead character is INDIAN FOOD!!! but i order vegetarian salad and is now hiding in my corner, weighing out the vege and adding in the tuna I brought from home.

Lizzi with regards to adding garlic and ginger for allowance, yes I do if I know I will definitely eat them up. but if it is just for marinade, I don't 'coz I dun eat the stuff in the marinade.

Hi everyone,
Another baby, how lovely. Congratulations Carissa.
I was told that Dr Cohen stumbled on this program while doing fertility research. Maybe some of the others on here need to be a little careful. Sounds like it might be true!!
reb, your friend has obviously just bought a copy of someone elses program, which has not been written using her blood test results and as such is not made for her. She might lose weight, but won't necessarily be able to keep it off properly. I know I would rather pay the money and know that my program is specifically designed for me.
Jasmine, I ordered my re-feed when I weighed 78kg. My consultant said that it is easier to maintain your weight if you go right down to the suggested goal weight, but that you can stop at any time. I also thought (at 40 and 5ft4) that my goal weight of 57-60kg would have me looking haggard. At 75kg I am a size 12 and I am very happy with myself at that. I have put 70kg on my ticker, and I might try to go down to that, but I haven't decided yet. I'll see how I go when I get closer. When I did re-feed previously, I maintained my weight without any problems (eating whatever I wanted) for 3 months until I tried to get back on the program again and only lasted 1 week and didn't complete the re-feed again. Since then I have been gaining weight. My consultant also said that if you start to get hungry, it is usually because you are almost ready to do the re-feed, and at around 80kg I was starting to get hungry, .plus I was going on a family holiday and didn't want to be on the program while away, and also didn't want to risk breaking it as I knew if I broke it (and didn't do re-feed), I would never get back on it again, anyway, just ask if I haven't answered what you wanted to know.
Arowan, so close. Hopefully you'll be there soon. Don't forget you can lose weight on re-feed. I lost 2.5kg while I was doing the re-feed last time.
mumbine, good to hear you had a lovely time at your daughters birthday and are all fired up to go on Monday. I found it helpful to tell everyone what I was doing too. Also helps with functions and things. People understand better why you are taking your own food with you.
lizzi, your weight loss is absolutely incredible. You are definately getting closer you must be so proud of yourself.
L-jay, sorryto hear that your weight went up this morning, but I'm sure it will be back down again tomorrow. Probably just fluid or something. I love the days without deviating ticker. I might try one too.
Fornight, I find that I sleep really well when on this too.
Reload72, welcome and great weight loss!
Still no more loss for me this week. I'm assuming this is my "slow" week. I just chose the wrong week to start. Hopefully next week will be a bit better weight loss wise, but as we all say, any loss is good loss.
Have a great day everyone. Talk to you all soon.

Hey everyone,

I haven't posted for 2 weeks because I had myinterstate work conference, but OH MY GOD I hardly recognise anyone on the forum now! It has taken me about an hour to catch up with everything.

Have been officially OFF the wagon since Friday last week, and today is the last "bad" day. Back on 100% tomorrow. Don't know how much I have put on - hopefully only a kilo or two - but I guess I'll see the damage tomorrow morning...

I got the letter about the melbourne clinic closures. It's a shame that this company is so unprofessional. It's a great program.

Have a great day everyone, and I'll update my ticker tomorrow morn!

Hi all, Thanks for the warm welcome! I just love this forum!! I have now joined Cohens after my drive down to Geelong yesterday for the info session. I just know this is it now for me – I’m sick and tired of the bits and pieces of diet and information that I’ve unsuccessfully used for years now. I’m Committed!! And I know that with this group I can be totally honest and fess up IF I stuff up.

Magic- Lea - I loved the story about the “14 Kilometers” still puts a smile on my face!!

L- Jay – I love your posts! You are one of the most motivating – Keep on doing it!!!

What a joy and gift, all these Babies!! Congratulations!

I think I will just put a blanket apology for asking all the questions you have probably previously answered. I will try and re-read the previous posts – but just in case - SORRY!!

I had my blood test and so next week they should have the results to prepare my plan. I’m already increasing my water and will have to get a multi vitamin – any suggestions?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi bluesky327 I just use Myadec A-Z (available in woolies for about $20 a bottle). I also take a Chromium supplement (helps control cravings) and evening primrose oil and magnesium (which supposedly helps with chocolate cravings)
ridiculous, great to have you back. You look like you are very close to your goal. Hopefully you haven't put on too much weight.
Talk to you all soon.

Hi everyone,
I just received a strange email from Cohens at Parramatta. I have attached it for you all to read:

Hi, how are you? I trust all is going well.

Dr Cohen has informed us that your biochemistry has started to change. Therefore your blood profile has changed too much and Dr Cohen is unable to produce a Refeeding Program for you. So there is no longer any need for you to have your repeat blood tests.

Please continue with your program until you have reached your goal weight. When you have reached the ideal weight, we will give you a set of the Management Guidelines which will help you to control and maintain the weight. Remember to drink all of your water, take your multi vitamins and weigh all of your food correctly every day, all these things will affect your weight loss.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have a query or need any help, we would love to hear from you. We are just a phone call or email away. Keep going I am sure you are doing a great job and it is all worth it in the end. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you no longer wish to continue with the program and will not contact you in the future.

As I haven't had any blood tests done since November last year, and also received my re-feed in October last year, I found it very strange that Dr Cohen has said that my bio chemistry has started to change and he can't produce a re-feed for me!!! Not sure if they are just trying to get rid of any people from the closed clinics. What do you all think of this?? Did anyone else receive this as well?

Hi rjm!
I just happened to see your post - how strange. No I have not heard of anyone having such an email. Do you deal through Parramatta at all? Did it have your name on it? Or is it a hoax? Sounds very odd to me!
Am certainly curious as to what is happening.
lizzi

Hi lizzi, no have never dealt with Parramatta branch, but my clinic (Dee Why) was closed a few months ago (not exactly sure why). Although I had received my re-feed, my consultant still emailed me every now and again to see how I was going, and officially I am still in my contract time (although I thought I had voided my contract by ordering my re-feed early)
I have just written back to them asking for an explanation re this email as I have sent them no bloods, so he couldn't have "profiled"my blood and he can't refuse to do my re-feed, I already have it !!!
I just hope they are not trying to clean up their books and get rid of any left over clients from the closed offices. It doesn't affect me, but if there are people out there who have not yet received their re-feed this kind of email could be very detrimental to their weight loss.
I'll let you all know if I get a response from them.

Anyone has a cottage cheese recipe?? Or tried & tested meat recipes - simple/easy to cook dishes??

Wat abt tofu + veg meal? so vegetarian :( (dont like)

My lunch and dinner are cooked in the same style.

Types of herbs? I marinate my meat and chicken with the same herbs for the last two days, (tumeric, rosemary and black pepper) - getting sick

Just 3 days in the program, running out of ideas. :(

I have not touch a single crispbreads/crack allowance, and decides to leave it out of my meal as much as possible.

I miss carbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reload72: Hi there. The combinations are unlimited! I use a lot of basil, marjoram, chives, oregano, whatever. Each has it's own set of tastes. With cottage cheese, you could use spring onion with it, or chilli. I melt a combination of cottage or ricotta cheese + mozerella over almost anything I feel like - cauliflower, or cabbage, or tomato and capsican, or asparagus - any combination really - and it works well. And each day I use a different set of favourites - curry goes down well too. by experimenting you will soon find the ones that you like.

rjm: I am wondering if this was meant for somebody who has left it far too long because they broke their diet for a long time, and they have had an extra blood test to see if it is still possible to pick it up again and have a refeed done. And obviously for this person it is not. Maybe they mixed up the names since it came from another clinic and they didn't know the facts. Or maybe they haven't recorded that you got your refeed - they say that Dr Cohen can't do a refeed after a certain length of break, so they were letting you know? I'd be on the phone to clarify it as soon as they are open. Anyway it is intriguing! Since it is not going to affect you, have fun finding the solution.

lizzi

blood and refeed

Went for an appointment today and the consultant said it would be fine to order the refeed now and have it on hand when for when the time came. So I decided to have the blood tests early at 9 1/2 weeks rather than 12, which apparently is OK.
I've found the clinic at Joondalup and the two people who run it Christina and Will are good value (really prompt and get back to you fast with information etc)

Lizzi-Thanks for your encouragement - I'm really pleased, but it's taking a little while to realise I've almost done it. I didn't have a huge amount to lose, but it's been 15 years since I was this smaller size and it's taking a head space shift not to think of myself as big still. The consultant indicated that the refeed would take about 2 -3 weeks. ALSO I"M REALLY IMPRESSED AT HOW WELL YOUVE DONE - YOUR LOSS HAS BEEN AMAZING !!!!

rmj - thanks for the reminder about losing more on refeed, I'll try to factor that in. Congratulations on 6kg in 11 days !! It looks like we are around the same age and height (same goal weight range) I'm finding that at 62kg I'm not looking scrawny yet - although the skin on my face and neck may need a bit of time to catch up (bit more wrinkly than when I started - the 'plump" cheeks stuff). I suspect that 57kg could be too low - but I'm pretty keen to see some BONES again and not worried about going a bit low as as putting on weight again has never been a problem before!!!

L- Jay I appreciate reading your posts - keep doing it, you deserve other people's support too !!! You asked about vitamins a while ago - I use Blackmores they aren't too expensive and have good levels of most nutrients we are after.

Dilfizzle - 5.4kg in just over 2 weeks is pretty spectacular !!
Magic Lea - 12 kg in 15 days - what can I say ?!!!
