Digital Scales

yeah i find the digital scales not entirly accurate... but thats all i have i just get on 3 times and take the reading that appears the most... 98% of the time i get the same results on all 3 attempts but hey you need good results!!!
I seem to be addicted to getting on the scales... i had always said i would only weigh 1 time per week... ( AS IF THAT HS HAPPENED) All good....
I know this program is working it just that i want it now... but hey i know it's going to happen this time :)

Hi All

hi there,
I am new to this forum, actually found it by chance. I have been on the Cohen's program now for 4 1/2 weeks. Found it very hard at first, missed my bread and spag bol ,never realising that I really was quite a big eater I was surprised at how little amounts you eat on the program. Started this program at 82.8kgs. Am now 8.7kgs lighter and have lost about 50 cms... good eh.. I am very proud of myself... I do still feel that I need to drink more water than I do. The best thing is my body is just loving it...I have energy to burn, my face and eyelids are no longer puffy and bloated, clearer skin and more confidence already wow....
One question; sometimes my protein is a little under ...like the small tin of tuna ...so I am probably not getting enough...I just find it convenient and don't open till tea break at work to have with my salad vegies.
All you fellow Cohen's members are just so inspiring... keep up the good work...hope to hear from you all soon ...maybe one of you can teach me how to do a proper posting...see ya

One more sleep!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Congratulations to everyone doing so well on the Program!!! I hope allyour weekend went well....

Gosh I am feeling like a HIPPO today...Can't wait to get the program!!!
I am so excited!!!! One more sleep till I get my Cohens Program!!!

I am freaked out a little, since I am so worried I wont be able to cope with the little amounts of food, but yet, it is so inspiring to hear all your stories!!!

I so wanted the program sooner, but then I should have taken the blood test sooner!

I am feeling bad, since I have put on a lot of weight in the last few weeks, but to hear all of you say how much weight and centimetres you are losing is so very INSPIRING!

Do all of you weigh your foods??

Week one done

Good morning ladies

I have finally finished week one. During the middle of last week... I didn't think i'd have the will power to finish it. Between kids eating McDonalds, cheese and bacon rolls, party pies, icy poles and hubby eating souvalkis last night.... I wanted to jump off the wagon.
Now.... today.... it's all okay again. I weighed my self and have lost just over 3kgs and centimetres off everywhere. Was v. exciting. I have the power to move forward into another week now. It's my birthday at the end of July, so I am hoping to be a thinner 'me' by then!

Joanne - welcome. It does make it easier having someone else to vent/chat/bitch etc too. And the best bit is that we are all in the same boat... have overeaten for too long and now have weight to get off and KEEP OFF!

Tasm82 - I too can't keep off the scales. I weigh myself every second morning and am v. excited. I find it gives me motivation to keep going for the day.

Chiko - Going to the footy and not eating all the delicious crap food..... I am proud!!!!

Til next time.... be strong and have a great day.

Cheers

Advice needed please.....

Hi again
Sorry to post so quickly again.

I am new to this game, and unfortunately you guys are the only ones that know I am on it.

My problem.... tomorrow night is my mums birthday and we are going out for tea. It's a must... I just can not go. I have to be there. It's at 6pm and at a chinese restaurant.
Can someone help if there would be any acceptable choices? Small bowl of crab and mushroom soup maybe, followed by a couple of prawns and some brocolli?
Shit.... hate social events at the moment!

Any ideas?

Tea tomorrow?

Hi Tania,

Some options when you cannot avoid a social event:

1. Bring your own food prepared as required. While everyone else eats you can take photos, socialise or just make small talk. Or eat after the event.
2. Find out what food the Chinese restaurant serves. Here are some options: veggies: celery, mushrooms, cabbage and bak choy cooked with garlic, pepper and any other seasonings approved by cohen. You don't have to have broccolli (it is not on my approved list).
Steamed fish is also an option to give you the protein. Just tell them no oil.
3. Just go along and eat whatever is the rest of the family eats.

Your choice depends on your guilt/determination ratio. Here's what I mean. If you really want to stick to the eating plan, consider speaking to your mom and explain that you're on a program to lose weight/get healthier - whatever she can support you on.

Then decide if the family rules allow you to have your own food while everyone else eats chinese. If the family rules do not allow you to eat "other food", decide on what is important to you and how you can get the support of your family.

I have tested my own mental barriers recently during a lunch with some friends. I asked to bring my own food even though a really good friend (who is a superb cook) was specially cooking her speciality for us. I asked for her support and said that losing weight was really important to me.

She was really understanding, as were the rest of my friends. So I eat my meal which I brought with me while everyone else ate her yummy food.

Event number 2: nephew's birthday at an italian restaurant.
Again, spoke with my sis. Brought my own cohen's food and eat with everyone else while they ordered their favourites. Even turned down the birthday cake.

Here's what I found out about my family- they are really supportive in including me during meal times. The biggest barrier I had to overcome was my own limitations in finding a way to eat my cohens food while letting others know why I needed to stick to my eating plan.

My most important lesson - friends and family want you with them. What you eat is not that important anyway, as long as you're present.

Don't know if that works for you. Let us know how you're doing.

Don't know what to do...

well i got up this morning with hubby... sent him to work on his road bike... get a call... miss it ring his mobile back and i getv a policeman on the phone... don't worry he has had an accident... he's ok hes with the ambos now... meet him at hospital but someone has to pick his bike up. I ring dad in histerics and head to hospital... he has two brocken arms.... what to do!!!! he has been flown down to perth as has to have operations on both arms... possibly today tomorrow. i am getting on the plan at 6.30 to get to the hospital by maybe 8.30 tonight he left at 1.30 !!!
I am going to try so very hard to stay on this diet but i am going to have to do everything for him for a 6-7 weeks as he won't be able to do anything...
He as brocken 1 bone in his left arm and both in his right plus fractured his elbow and also a possible wrist fracture... He was in so much pain when they went to put a temp cast on this morning....
Men can't live withem can't live without them!!!

Hope everyone else is going great guns though

Just a quick post ... to Tasm82

Sorry about the accident. How awful for both of you. Will be very difficult for you both. The important thing is he is alive - and sounds like he will recover. So glad for that. Life can be very fragile!

About Cohens - you do the best you can. That is all you can do. If you are in a position to pre-pack food and take then do it. If not - all is not lost. When the crisis is passed you can evaluate it - what is a couple of weeks in a critical situation.

The most crucial thing is that he is alive - keep that in mind, and take care of yourself. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Let us know how things are going when you can,

all our concerns for you both,
lizzi

Hi guys
glad to see you're all going well. I haven't been reading posts lately as I haven't been following my diet :( I think I have put some weight on but I dont even want to look at the scales I'm too scared :( If my doctor says I'm well enough, I will be going back to work at the end of this week and I think I will start again then. I'm really not sure if this will happen though seeing as there may be a little more damage than they first thought?? After everything thats happened I think I've turned to comfort food a bit. Unfortunately I really dont feel much better but we all have to be paid so I need to go back to work soon. Thankyou for your lovely messages. I was touched to see you guys have been thinking of me. Wish me luck guys I think I need it ! lol

Good luck and lots of love <3<3<3
Kim

Tasm8 - that sounds awful. I'm so glad your husband isn't more seriously injured. All the best for both of you.

Good news everyone! Lost another kilo since saturday! Yippeeee! (I've ditched the one week weigh in rule - but not moving my ticker til sat). I started taking the metamucil caps, and I think they have made a difference. I was always fairly regular, but I'm even more so lately, so I think it is due to the metsmucil caps. I would LOVE to start refeed next week, cos that means I'll be off it in time for my work conference.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma, because I really can't do cohen for the week of the 12th june. So do I do refeed before hand even if I'm not at goal? or do I keep going right up til conference, have the week off, and then just pick up where I left off when I'm back?
Everyone's opinion appreciated!

Bella

Hey Guys
I have been on the program since saturday. I jumped on the scales today cause i wanted to see if i had lost anything... i have lost 4.2 kilos! In three days!!! that cant be right can it?
Keep in mind that the when i was at the clinic i was weighed. then to see if my scales were accurate/similar to those at the clinic i weighed myself again at home about half an hour later. The two were the same.
Has anyone else had this kind of result in a week? its so strange!

Tasm82- my thoughts and prayers are with you and hubby! Isn't life incredible? As others have said, you just do the best you can, I certainly wouldn't beat myself up about it. Keep in touch with us, looking after wounded men is hard work and you'll need support! Good luck.

Bella- personally I think that having a week off would cause more damage than starting refeed early. You have worked so hard to get your body in working balance, at least if you do refeed first, you will know what you can tolerate and make wise choices. A big decision-good luck with it!

I met up with a girlfriend for a coffee (diet coke) after work today and thought about having dinner there, started to consider what I'd choose, I decided against it, wasn't even really tempted -weird for me, I was such a dine-out/take away junkie before! I can't believe how I've stuck to this program, I know I keep saying that and I'm sorry, but Dr Cohen actually knows what he's talking about!

Hopeful1-I take my food everywhere! Many people don't even notice! I think that the more obstacles we are able to overcome on the program make us stronger for life after Cohens. Just a thought-good luck!

Stay focussed guys!
chiko

Big cyber hug and lots of unconditional support

Tasm 82... you poor thing!

My thoughts are with you and your hubby and I wish him all the best to a safe and speedy recovery.

To you.... I wish you patience and lots of it... not just for trying to stick to a decent eating pattern.... but for dealing with a wounded male@! I love mine, but at times of illness... it becomes tough!

Good luck and I hope Mother Nature looks over you both at this time!

To Lizzi

Hi Lizzi

I was just reading through some notes and noticed your weight? Is that really your goal weight? Are you quite short? This seems a tiny amount to weigh. Your loss so far has been unbelievable and inspirational. WEll done!!

Hello!

Hi Everyone!

Tasm82: I'm sorry to hear about your husband. All my thoughts and prayers go out to you, I hope his recovery is speedy.

Well I think I need digital scales coz I can't really tell exactly how much I have lost. Tonight my kitchen scales wouldn't work just as I was preparing dinner. I have stuck so close to this diet (amazing for me!) So I almost drove around the corner to my sisters house who has some kitchen scales. Her husband is on the program, he started the same day as me. I went through my cupboards and found some old easyslim scales phew! It's good to have backups!

On the weekend I had unusual pains in my tummy when I was singing. It was like I had just down a huge Ab workout the day before. Any one had this before? I am now taking Metacaps, but I think this was different. It was a weird feeling.

I survived a weekend of Movies and Parties. Two of my daughters are exactly 2 years and 2 days apart, so we had a joined party for them on the weekend with family. And on Wednesday it is the school friend's party at McDonnalds. Thank God the next family birthday is mine and its not until July.

Great to hear from everyone, All the best!
How do I get my ticker to work??

Good Morning All

Netski Thanku for your message I dont know what is going on but i have also been thinking about food all of the time it is terrible I havent been like this since I started maybe it is the cold weather ??

Chiko & Mitmary You are both doing so well congrats girls..:)

Tania How did you go with your family dinner ?

Joanne Welcome to the forum there is no such thing as a proper posting you jsut get on here and say whatever you are feeling or need to ask about.

Juzzy Welcome that is an amazing loss so far keep up the good work..

Tasm82 Sorry to hear about your hubby's accident I think the only thing you can do in this sort of situation is stick to the program as best you can, you have the tools now to make the right decisions. You may not be able to stick to it 100% but you can make better choices than you would have before hand.

Kim So glad to hear from you was really worried, sorry you have had so much trouble it is never too late to start again hope things start to look up for you.

Ridiculous I would definately start the refeed early there is too much damage that you could do in a week and you may find that you out yourself back weeks, if it is feasable I would try the refeed..

Alright girls time to head off to work my thoughts are with you all, hope your days are filled with joy and and strength..:D

Hey Girls

Kim - good to hear from you. Keep reading the posts, use them to keep you focusing on what you will do not on what you aren't able. Hope you are well enough to go back to work soon. You will be back on track in not time with your determination
Carissa - Could it be hormonal, eg. period due? Whatever it is, it will pass, you'll get through it and be so proud of yourself, so will we!
Tasm - sorry to hear about hubby. Just do your best, and try to keep meals and stuff simple. Take it a day at a time, and try and plan meals ahead when possible. Thinking of you both

first official weigh in

Good morning ladies

I had my first official weigh in which was 7.8kg. I still can't believe I have lost this weight in such a small amount of time. If I didn't break my plan on a few occassions I am sure I would have lost 10kg.

I had a creative night cooking last night. I used my cheese portion and made cheese dumplings

Mix half mozza cheese portion half ricotta portion with chives and a little curry and salt. Crush one cracker into crumbs and roll the cheese mixture into the crumbs.
Lighly spray a pan and gently cook the balls until the outside is crunchy (hint do not turn to much or else cheese will melt through).

I served it with lettuce and mayo and vegie soup. I dropped a few of the balls into the hot soup the cheese just melts in your mouth (you wouldn't believe how good it tasted)

It is my four year annaversary on Thursday, I really want to go out to dinner with hubby to celebrate does anyone know a good restaurant in Melbourne that serves Cohen's type of food. I am happy to just have fish and salad.

I have accepted the cold the dry mouth and the wrinckly fingers. Is anyone getting really bad breath on this diet. I am constantly chewing gum to get rid of it. I have never had a problem before.

Netski – Come on girl you have to catch up. The Metacaps are great, you feel really good and don’t get the cramps with them. You just need to ensure you have heaps of water or else you feel like you will choke.

ICIW – Congrats and getting to goal and for being so strong with life after Cohen’s my biggest fear is that I will go crazy once I am on my own. What are you having on a typical day? Thanks for your support the other day, I am feeling really good now out of the clouds.

MOmiji - thanks for that info on Diet Coke. There are many times when I go out shopping and I really want a drink. All the cafes stock normal diet coke so now I won’t feel guilty if I have one now and then.

Joanne – great result keep going girl you deserve it.

Dilfizze – You have probably started the program by now. Keep with it and you will be amazed with the results.

Tania – Hope everything goes well with the dinner.

Tasm82 – Keep strong, this will bring you closer to your partner. My prayers are with you and your family.

Kim – you have come so far to go back. You will get your self together. Step on the scales and deal with the truth of what has happened.

Ridi – you go girl, you will be at reefed in no time and joining ICIW.

Juzzi – yes the results are real. Enjoy as this is the best diet I have ever been on that gives you results with any exercise. Most people loose 3-4kg in their first week.

Moneypenny – how are you going?
