Hello! Back on Track

Good Morning to all the Cohenettes!

Tasm82 - My thoughts are with you, may all the posts from everyone feel like a great big hug for you. xxx

Karol - I live in Melbourne and for our anniversary we went to the Stokehouse (upstairs) as I was on Cohen's - I had a piece of Barramundi and side salad no dressing. That was about as close as I could get, and it didn't show up on the scales. I drank ice cold sparkling plain mineral water - it was just lovely to have someone else cook and it was beautiful. It was pricey....about $30 - $40 for a main course - but because I didn't have an entree or wine - it was a fairly 'cheap' night!

I have been very good since my relapse - I didn't go to my 12 week weigh in last Thursday as I hadn't lost any weight (.5 of a kg) since week 8 weigh in - all my fault though.

So if anyone wants any words of advice - don't deviate - it is so, so hard to get back on track.

I re read alot of old posts (Lizzie alot were yours) you seem to always have really good, practical, motivating and consistent advice for all concerned - so keep writing what you do - (I think you need to be the Cohen's PR - as you keep us all on track and involved). So if ever you give up your day job - I think there is a calling for you at Cohens!

Well Done to everyone that is on track, doing re feeds and well done to everyone being honest and sharing too!

I am ready to face the music this Thursday at the 13 week weigh in! These last 5 kgs I WILL LOSE!!!!

Will let you know how I go!

Have a great week,

Be Kind to yourselves - we all deserve this.

Lisa;)

hi all,
made a big effort the last couple of days to try and drink my water quota, all i did was pee more...this is good???
Karol...thanks for the great encouragement... i too get a dry mouth and am conscious of a bad taste in my mouth ...it is the fact that ur body is burning ur fat and the by product i think is that you produce ketones. the chewing gum helps.thanks to all of you who offer encouragement i will get there. i am going to surfers and caloundra on the 4th july for 15 days..hopefully by then i will look like a new women.....
take care everyone ...see ya

Oops

I had a bit of a downer by accident. I, without thinking took some cold and flu herbal medication for 4 days last week as everyone aroung me was sick and i cant afford to get it, and as a result i actually gained a bit of weight. Can you believe it, it was an honest mistake too, considering i havent deviated anywhere else. I've been so scared of deviating and then a stupid mistake...bugger bugger bugger. Thats a whole week WASTED!'
Never mind, i'm sure by tomorrow morning it'll be gone

I did some reasearch about why us cohenettes have potentially bad breath. From a ketosis point of view, they often say that the breath is a little sweet but creates that furry and dry feeling like you've hit the piss the night before. Try brushing your tongue from front to back in a rolling flick!

I've also read that Protein metabolism in the body produces and ketosis produces a natural acetone which as you all know doesnt smell great.

Having an empty stomach doen't help though.

I know i've asked about diet coke with caffeine, but does anyone know if pepsi max and coke zero are the same? Are we allowed those?

Anyway, my thoughts are with all of you, may you overcome adversitiy when faced with it, and help those around you when they need it! Take care

I know we can have Pepsi Max that's all I drink. Coke Zero is almost the same as Max except it has more salt!
My friend rings up all the time!

Life sure is busy at the moment - at work and at home. Many positive or enjoyable things though, but just means less posting.

Tania: Yea, I'm quite short - 5 feet, or 1.52cms. And I think I have a reasonably small frame under all the layers. I don't really mind what the number at the end is, as long as I am certain I reach the right weight for me. So if it is more? Then that's a bonus, but unfortunately I don't think it will be.

i CaN i WiLL: Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope you will still look in on us - especially if the other forum doesn't take off until we get there!! Sure hope you are enjoying your new freedom.

karol: your cheese dumplings and veggie soup sound very nice!! Will definitely be trying that one.

Mitmary7: Did the consultant actually say pepsi max was OK, even with the caffeine? Very interested in that answer because it is my favourite!

kimJ01: It sounds like you are going to have to take care of yourself. Make sure you heal properly. Our thoughts are still with you!!

I really appreciate how everyone adds their bit so we all benefit. It is great to read through everyone's posts, and I hope you have a good 24 hours!!

Got The Program!!!!

Hi Guys!

Hope everyone is traveling well!

I am so excited, I got the program...It is so much info to take in...
I was very curious about what to eat and well, all I can say is what I am going to do without all the CONDIMENTS!!! I am so used to using a bit of soy, minced garlic and ginger, spices etc...This is no doubt going to be hard especially since I am Indian and we us a whole LOT of spices...grrr...

But, all I can say is that you got to suffer for beauty...
In this case, got to give up a little of the bad to gain a WHOLE LOT of good!!!!!

SO, tell me what you guys think about starting the program next week, since this week is very much a right off. I am starting my new job next week and thought, give myself a weeks grace and start the program the same week…New job, new outlook and a new start!!!

What do you guys think????

dilfizzle glad you got your program. Keep in mind you may suffer headaches and feel a bit tired for a day or two when you start the program, then again you may not. So if you start asap you'll be past the worst of it in time for your new job. But, mentally, you may feel as if you are starting a whole new life, starting both at the same time. Whatever you decide it will be the right choice for you.
lizzi - i was reading the advertiser today, and in the letters to the editor, someone by the name of Elizabeth was writing about the governments concern over obesity in Oz. She said she knows of 2 programs which guarantee permanent weightloss, but the cost of them would put many off. She said if the government was serious about adressing this, these programs should be subsidized. This is only a long shot, but couldn't help wonder could that have been from you?? Put me out of my misery. Anyway you know I was thinking of you during my lunchbreak at work. (where by the way there was a yummy cake staring me in the face in the lunchroom, but I stuck to my Cohens lunch)

Evening guys...
well has been a bit of a rocky day for me... i have heard about people getting nausea while on the program. This morning was the first day i have felt really totally bad. like i know my body is detoxing and everything but i was so sick this morning about 30 mins after i ate my breakfast that i threw it all up again and i havent felt right all day since. Luckily i had just stepped outside to start my car to head off to work, i had the time to run back inside and brush my teeth again and stuff. It was horrible and i just wanted to curl up and sleep!! Was hard to face a whole day at work! Any suggestions on how to overcome this? i am afraid that its going to happen again tomorrow morning!

I tried looking for the recipie for the vegie soup as karols dumplings and soup combination is something i need to try! Does any one have it to post for me?? Muchly appreciated!

I have found that fish topped with lemon juice and vegies has been great for me. after this morning i dont think i will be eating cauliflower again!

i also have a problem i am flying to brisbane for the weekend on friday night. I dont know what i am going to to, the hotel room we are staying in doesnt have a kitchen or anything like that so i cant cook my own food. i can get my fruit and crispbreads from a safeway near by. i dont want to deviate as i have only been on the program for a week. Help!!

thanks

Juzzy

Ticker moving

Thanks heaps L-Jay!!!!

I was also just reading about the headaches....I was thinking of getting things organised on Sunday that way I might just get 2 days under my belt!!! So, I might start on Monday....

Can I ask, I know where to go for the ticker but how do you paste it into your message...I am so curious...It doesnt come up!!!

How do you guys plan for your meals? read a few people pre-package their protein serves, so just take out....

I am going to find it hard, since my mum preapreas meal for the week, like 3-4 dishes, so every night just take out a pot and heat up for dinner. I might do the same, but do it seperately!!!

Any helpful hints will be greatly appreciated! :)

L-Jay: I am having a chuckle. No, it wasn't me, but she's got a point - definitely worth subsidising. Nice to know I was being thought about over lunch. I'm still chuckling!!

Hi, new here.

Hi all.

I am new to the forum. Have been reading a lot of old posts, and a few new ones. I live in South Africa, have been on the program now for a week and a day. I have 29 kg to lose.

The week has gone quite well, although today was tough. I just feel so tired, hopefully burning fat... But the tiredness could also be because of our 3 children keeping me up at night.

Regards
Ingrid

lizzi - checking out your ticker, FANTASTIC. You are so close. You've gotta be feeling pretty damn fine

juzzy - keep up your water intake so as to flush those nasty  toxins out as quick as you can. Hopefully you,ve been through the worst of it, and will be feeling much better. let us know how you go today

ingrid - welcome to the forum. you'll get heaps of support here. its tough when kids keep you up at night and sleep is so important on this program

netski - shame about the cold & flu remedy. I know what you mean. prevention is better than cure. look on the bright side, at least it wasn't a deliberate deviation, and it wasn't food. that makes it a bit easier to get on the right track, and I know you will. let us know if the scales go down again.

everyone else HAVE A GREAT DAY

I think I can...I think I can....

Maybe I shall change that to I KNOW I can...I KNOW I can...LOL

It really is hard. Everytime I come on here I just need to complain - to anyone who'll listen really! Every morning I start right...I've already drunk nearly 1ltr water and its only 9am, I had "pizza" for breaky (crispbreads topped with tomato, mushroom, capsicum & mozzarella) and have made a curry for lunch.
I remember a post near the start of the thread I think that said that there are 100% mango frozen pieces that are cohen friendly. I've got some form Sara-Lee and they say that it is pure fresh mango - snap frozen. I defrost them on paper towel before using them so that I get out some of the excess water and I never use my whole fruit allowance with mango - just a few pieces for texture and taste. I'll keep going with them and see how it goes. I can't eat a lot of apples because they make me so hungry, so I'm kinda limited to orange and kiwi this time of year...and what I hate is that the fruit is never ripe in the shops!! I bought 4 kiwis for this week and they are still hard as rock :(

Anyway, my birthday is in 5 weeks, and originally I was aiming to be 80kgs by my birthday...yeah well stupid me stuffed that idea up, but if I can just get back into the double figures and lose the weight I put on over the last month or so I'll be happy. I've put a "fat" photo in my wallet so that whenever I open it to pay for groceries or whatever I am less tempted to buy that freddo frog at the counter (or any other temptation!)

My consultant said it was fine to have any soft drink that has no sugar - so diet coke, sprite zero, diet lift, pepsi max etc etc...They are my treats now...a can of diet coke when I feel like something bad... Only 2 cans max per day though - gotta get the water in first!!

One of my favourite recipes is the zucchinni "pancakes", zuchinni allowance mixed into 1 beaten egg and salt& pepper to taste...add 1 crushed crispbread and cook in non-stick pan until brown...though I'm kinda over them now since I basically had them every second day... enough already - I love variety!!

Well, I wish I could post here more often, but I'm usually too tired after work and too busy before...having a lazy morning today!

Thanks for listening girls!

PS - To the new program starters...DONT DEVIATE!!! Trust me... :D This program actually works!

Good morning girls

The vegie soup recipe I use is (allowance) of cabbage, baby spinich, mushrooms and califlower boiled with approx 400ml water. Add half hot curry half mild curry, salt and pepper and some onion flakes into. Boil until vegies are soft. (add more water if you really want to feel really full).

Today I have made chiken mince balls mixed in with the vegie soup. Yum can't wait to eat it at lunch.

I always try to have a soup for one of my meals as it takes ages to eat and it really fills you up.

I am going to Vienna in a couple of weeks and want to order a special meal on the flight. I need so advice on what choice is best low fat meal or Gluten Free Meal. They don't have low carb as an option.

When I stay in a hotel and can't cook I purchase a can of tuna and lettuce mix it with mayo and balsamic vinger eat with crackers and there is you meal. The next best thing is to get a 1/4 bbq chicken and only eat the white meat with salad. I know McDonalds sell chicken salad which is also good just don't use the dressing.

Did anyone see ACA on the HGH storey. Someone should tell ACA of the natural way to increase HGH.

Has anyone heard of the TLC program? I had a read of their website, the program sounds similar to Cohens. The recipes have a variety of food not on our plans.

Have a good day everyone. Stick to your plan and you will be rewarded.

Hi Everyone!

I have to admit, the last couple of days, I have been one of those people that read the posts, but don't actually post - I know! Naughty!

But I haven't had much to say! I am in such a routine with this program, that I know exactly what to do, and when to eat that it all just runs like clockwork. Based on your feedback, I'm going to start refeed on Saturday. That will mean I can finish it before I go away for a week. Then I'll come back, hop back on the wagon, and lose those last couple of kilos. If I could get to 76kgs this week, I'd be 2kgs from my top goal weight, so I'd be happy with that, but we'll see. I'd love to go to Qld and be below 75kgs! I guess you never know! fingers crossed!

I'm addicted to Apple flavoured Extra chewing gum at the moment. I can't get enough of it!

Have a great night
Bella

Hey Guys.

L-jay - i have been keeping the fulids up but it doesnt seem to be helping! The same thing happened this morning, i made my brekky and then found that about half an hour later it came up again! i felt awful! i struggled all day after that.

Im not going to let this stop me tho. I am determined enough to know i can get thru this!! Its just a minor hiccup.

thanks to karol for putting the recipie up again! i searched for it last nite and couldnt find it. Am going to make it tonite and see what happens. Also, thanks for the ideas for suviving my trip to brisbane, muchly appreciated.

anyway, hope you all have a good night!

Hi all,
Just a quick post to let you know I am going away early tomorrow morning for work. Won't be near my computer until Sunday night or Monday next week. So all of you - have good Cohen friendly days! Stay safe! And I will look forward to all the posts when I get back.

Sure does take loads more energy to get ready to go when you have to organise 4 days worth of meals!!

And L-Jay, thanks for noticing the ticker. It's trundling along and getting closer. At my rate though, it's still a few months away. I am feeling good though ... and can't wait until the end.

Also lisa c. - glad the posts were helpful. Stay on track won't you? It really isn't worth the consequences. Am waiting to see 5 kgs gone as you said!

Juzzy just a thought re your nasty vomitting experience, I am not a medical practitioner , so these are JUST ideas but.... are you sure its Cohen's related? You may just have a bug or could you possibly be pregnant? My daughter finds that some brands of vitamin capsules seem to make her vomit at breakfast time, especially on an empty stomach, so that might be worth considering too. Many food intolerances will make you vomit almost straight away too, it happens to me with calamari, so have a good look at what you had eaten each time it happens and see if you eat that food any other time with no vomitting or whether its a new or different food that you are just eating at breakfast time. Good luck in sorting it out, Hope it settles soon.
