OK, last week didn't end so well for me re food consumption. I spent my entire weekend down at my cousin's place for a bit of girl time with her - we went to the markets, did some shopping, watched DVD's etc - it was great, but my food choices weren't. I basically had to eat what she had provided over the weekend as it was just more convenient, we had another friend over for a small dinner party on Saturday night and I had one glass of wine with my meal....and dessert.

I got back on the scales and nearly died! Since my last visit to the clinic, I've put on 7 kgs!! (and its been about 6 weeks since I went) and I've noticed my clothes are getting tighter again..which is BAD! I said I would never have to buy size 18/20 again, but its creeping up :( So, I'm trying really hard again. Its wednesday and I've done ok, not perfect - but trying to mentally fight these cravings. I have a wedding to attend in July - and I its going to be the first wedding that I'll be able to buy something off the rack to wear and not try and hide my unflattering figure...so about 10 weeks until this event. I have to be able to lose at least 10kgs right!! Even in my first month I only lost 8kg and then it was around 5 per month...I'm not one of the big losers...but if I can just get back into the double figures (my lowest so far was 98Kg - I'm back to 105kg *gasp*) then I know I can finish....

I can only physically drink between 2 and 2.5 ltrs water a day...I just can't get any more in or I feel so ill. I try to drink at least a litre before I got to work in the afternoons so that i can sip the rest throughout my shift and not have to run to the loo every 10 mins LOL...the boss doesn't like it!!

I will try to find those frozen mango segments...I've had to use tinned (in juice) since the beginning because I just can't afford the fresh ones - they are a luxury I couldnt afford pre-cohens - but they are a wonder fruit... I can do mango curries, yogurt, salads and so much with them which you cant with apples and oranges. I still lost weight using the tinned mangos anyway...just probably not as much as I could have! Winter fruit is soooo boring!! LOL.

How hard can it be.... SO HARD AT TIMES!! Mind over matter!!!

I'll tell you all how hard it can be...... After eating my kiwi fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, I had to get the kids organized earlier and to the bakery for school snacks as a treat. Not only did the cheese and bacon rolls smell delicous, but my gorgeous little kids bought some party pies. Can you believe it!!!! How evil of them (not intentional though). AND THEN..... they didn't want them all, so i had to drive to work with two party pies and a cheese and bacon roll on my dash board. The amount of times I thought that if I just licked out the meat and not the pastry it would be okay.. was unbelievable.
Do you know what got me through......???? Knowing that I could come into work and tell you all my story about being strong enough to not eat something when I was hungry and it smelt sooooooooooo good!
Ladies..... I am quite hungry all the time.... Is it true that this should get better after the first week? I am on day three and quite hungry. Am very hungry in the evenings too.

To all the lovelies out in Cohens world. Good luck to all, and it's taken us years to get the weight on... now we have to work hard and sacrifice to get it off!

Cheers (water only), Tania

I had a binge last week.

Oh dear.. what can I say? I pigged out. For the first time and hopefully the last time. I ate carbs and sugary things like you wouldn't believe! or maybe you would. LOL I knew exactly what I was doing and it didn't stop me. I am back on track now but am quite crabby with myself as I gained weight and now have to lose it all again before striking new ground. ah well, I am still here and proud of my progress and the way I am starting to look. I am buying clothes in normal shops and bought several new size 14 garments yesterday and dithered about the 12s. Its hardly any time since even the size 18 tops were too tight for me so I am pretty pleased with that. Anyway, I fully intend to get to goal and finsh this program properly so am back on track and trying hard not to do the binge eating again.
I am very impressed with the way everyone else is going. well done to you all. I read the forum religiously even though I don't post often and am pleased to hear about those of you have successfully finished and are about to enter the real world again. How exciting for you. Can't waittill i can do it too , so I had better behave myself from now on eh?

Quotes worth reflecting on

For all of us who have fallen off the wagon:

"The greatest accomplishment is not in ever failing, but in rising after you fall."

~Vince Lombardi

So let's get back on the wagon again!

"How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it."

~Jim Valvano

What's your dream - a trimmer figure, making love with the lights on, shopping for regular size clothes?

Write your dream/goal down, keep focussing on the person you were meant to be and never, never, never give up!

"I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results."

~Michael Jordan

Every time you weight your food, keep to the eating plan, drink your water and focus on your whatever makes you feel alive and empowered, you are one step closer to your dreams.

Keep up the good work. You're worth it!

Tania...

well i can reasure you that the hunger pains do subside and you will feel alot better than you have in ages. Today is currently my 10th day on the program and until i logged on and read some posts i was feeling a bit down in the dumps. I have lost as of last sunday 4.8kgs in a week but i still have a bloody long way to go... i just needed a little pick me up as i dont just want to loose weight i want my body to reshape itself as well.

BUt keep strong your cravings will pass give it some time. As soon as you see the scales move or your clothes feel looser you will appriciate the advice...

Tam :)

Hi, to every one

Hi, i have been on my programme for 2weeks and have already stuffed it up....I am encouraged by your postings and the fact that even though my kg's have stuck due to the three evening meals i have stuffed my centermetres are still dropping. Making a cheesecake for my inlaws bday was my undoing...i have lost 4 kgs & 4.5 cm of my waist it is amazing, but i worry over what my skin my look like once completed, i was told that we do not have flabby skin it will tighten but it truely sounds to good to be true. My sister in law is on Jenny craig and we are having a bit of friendly competition although she is unawares. i found out a day after i started my cohens that i was only two kilos lighter, it scared the hell out of me...I was 114.8kg on my first weighing, my sister in law was 117kg ...I am hoping by chatting to you all i can help to keep my goals in sight. My first mini goal is to reach 100kg's its been a good 12months since i weighed that, then every ten kilo after that until i reach 60. well any way best not make my first posting too loooonnnng... thats for letting me natter look forward to reading your next posts.

Welcome newcommers. One day at a time, one kg at a time. Stick to the forum and read old posts to keep you motivated. Everyone has to start somewhere. It will only get better.

Wooneybear - I wouldn't trust the frozen mango (ask your consultant) even though the box might say 100% mago producers can add things and not have to list them on the box.

New To Cohen's

Hey Guys,

It was great to find your site. I just started Cohen's and this is day 6.
I have 60kg to lose, but I've weighed myself already and lost 6kg.
A couple of my friends are on it too. One of them has been on it for around 2 months and has lost over 20kg - its very encouraging.
We see each other everyweek at church so its almost like a race to see who can reach there goals - it keeps me going knowing that I'll be asked how much I've lost every week.
All the best to all of you!
I'd love to know where to find some different reciepes.

Yummy recipe

Good afternoon

Great recipe for you (or I thought so)

CURRIED MEAT BALLS
Meat allowance Minced
80% vegie allowance grated : zucchini and onion
1 Paradise biscuit (or two if you like)
Water to mush together
Curry powder

Then I just rolled them in little balls (approx 7) and put them in the oven.
They were delicious. And I put some spinach leaves on the plate too, and it looked like quite a substantial meal. (note: can also weigh, cook and freeze in portions to make a quick meal (I did this and took some to work - easy!)

And tonight, I am going to my parents for tea (and they don't know i'm on this program - no one does, i want to do it on my own for a month first)... so I am taking Fajitas for tea (chicken and salad wraps), and I will cook mine without the spices and instead of wrapping with a burrito, I am going to wrap mine in a big salad leaf, so hopefully I can have two. Yum!

Someone wrote about paradise lite biscuit pizzas... vegies and cheese in oven/griller. Delicious!

WOONEY BEAR : get back on the wagon.... it doesn't get any better until you reach your realistic goal weight (which may not be the Cohens goal weight, but one you are comfortable with). If you do the program 100%, it's guaranteed to work and work well. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK - YOU HAVE DONE SO WELL..... SO KEEP GOING AND YOU WILL BE HAPPILY SURPRISED.

Geez... I am getting hungrier just thinking about it.

Hope this helps.

Tania

Tania, The hunger pains do subside. I keep a piece of fruit and a glass of caffiene free diet coke for the evenings when this happens. Remember you can also have a piece of the sugar free gum too. If you are not using all your cracker allowance you could 2 of those.

Frozen Mango cheeks - beware these not only hold water as they are frozen but they use preservatives.

Day 2 (again) for me. Down 900 gms this morning. Not finding this time around so difficult as I did not introduce rice, potato, milk, pumpkin etc back into my diet. Garlic bread was a weakness but I don't have it that often don't think I'll miss it that much.

Somebody posted about missing lattes etc...........I used to be a latte lover but even a hint of milk after you've done this diet is like drinking a few cups of the dieters tea. I really enjoy my black coffee now and as a rule only drink decaf. You'll be surprised at the end of this diet how much your body has changed - at the moment its your brain that wants it, but maybe each case is different although I have heard a lot of the refeed girls just sticking to black coffee.

amazing!

It is amazing how much support you can gain from reading other people's messages! I log on most days and love reading about everyone's journey. Mine has been pretty uneventful. I have adjusted well to the eating plan, started on April 27th (3 weeks tomorrow) and have not slipped up once. I was in fact feeling better than I have felt in a long time by about day 7 of the program, skin started to look clear, headaches from which I usually suffer disappeared and I was not hungry or tempted by other food. On day 12 I started to have unbearable pain in the stomach/abdomen area, it ended up being chronic constipation, which was a little embarrassing! But the clinic did tell me I can use unflavoured metamucil, 3 tblsp unprocessed bran, herbal teas or psyllium husks.

Anyway I found it interesting to see how much focus we place on food, over the weekend was my birthday and Mother's Day and it seemed like much less of a celebration as usual (do you know what I mean?) no going out for dinner or lunch, no glass of wine or box of chocolates. We really do centre a lot of our life around food.

I am amazed at how quickly my clothes are starting to hang off me! You really do lose the weight from everywhere (thankfully!)

Well, stay focussed ladies, you are another day closer!

Welcome to all the new cohenettes!
Tania - it does get easier, and you won't be hungry anymore. I have found that if I'm hungry, I just drink a heap of water for anout 30 minutes, and I either forget I was hungry, or am not hungry anymore. Either way - it works a treat!

Nothing much news from me today. Day 60 over. I'm hoping for a bigger loss than usual this week.

Wore my "skinny" pants today. Size 14. It has been years since I've been a size 14. Cos I'm so tall, even at my goal weight, I am lucky to squeeze into a size 10, and then it needs to be a "big" size 10, so I'm only 1 size away from my goal (does that make any sense!!!??) Had a couple of the boys mention that I'd lost the saggy bum from my pants (cos my other pants are all so big!). That's a fantastic feeling.

Keep it up everyone! Here's to a great week of losses!!!

chiko[/QUOTE]

Hi chiko

Thanks for that info. I have been drinking dieters tea to go to the loo, i know that unless i go everyday I will not loose weight and feel really blocked (even though we are eating a lot less food).

starting soon....

Thanks Carissa! I guess I was just wondering how I am going to cope between meals!

I get my programme on Tuesday and I am so excited! I am starting a new job in 2 weeks and thought new job-new diet! Sometimes it puts it into perspective! I have just really let go! No joke in the last few months I have put on 5kgs and I feel it! My body is just bulging EVERYWHERE!!!!

Its just amazing to hear you guys talk about the kgs falling off - literally!!!!!
I love that....:D

How do you guys go with weighing your food! Is it hard????

I read previously, unsure who it was, that does Cohens, walk and does Curves! Do you find the Curves beneficial???? I have a membership but I feel like I am throwing money away! Was thinking of suspending it and when I start the diet next week I'll resume....

Wow!

So many people so little time.

Welcome to the newb's it's an amzing journey you've joined us on, so hop on any enjoy the ride, you'll never forget this experience!:)

I use psyllium i the morning and a little at night if i don't go every day i feel "wrong" I take mine i the form of metacaps.

In terms of how i'm going well, i think hunger wise this has been the hardest week, for some reason nothing seems to be satistfying my hunger. I'm sure thats my mind playing tricks on me! I'm half way through week 4 and i haven't deviated once. My husband is so proud of me , but i'm so proud of myself! You know, the thing i'm really looking forward to is not being skinny but finally for the first time in my life being in control of my food. I think that getting to my goal weight is onl part of the journey the next is going out into the world an d having to cope with life. At the moment i avoid too many social situations where i can be tempted but soon, i'll just have to learn to be stong.

To those of you who havehad a little blimp in your program, please don't feel guilty. you've all acheived such amazing results, just hope back quickly and don't dwell on the past look into the future with your head held high!

Well so far my weight loss to date
end week 1: 3.1kg
end week 2: 1.6kg
end week 3:1.8kg

thats 6,5 in 3 weeks , and i've lost a little more so far to bump me into the 70's finally!!!

To all of my beutiful cohenettes: i wish you all a focused, full of laughter, determination and offf course water. Drink up!

my thoughts are with all of you through your tears and triumphs both personal and family . I appologise that there are no personal replys but know that we are all hear for you.

Well done Netski for not breaking at all.

I went today to the Plaza and got some metacaps, I am so excited as I hated drinking the psyilliaum husk and the tea now I can take the natural alternative. I found some in Safeway for 100 caps for $20. I gather you need to take 2-3 a day. As long as it works I am happy.

Weight Wars...

Well since i got on the scales yesterday morning and it said i had put on 100 grams i was disappointed. But it was only my 10th day and i haven't deviated so as long as i am going down in cms i don't care what the scales say (or so i thought) I was at work and decided not to get on until tomorrow morning but it got the better of me this morning. To find i was another 100g heavier. !!! So i measured myself and sure enough i was a few cms smaller all over. I ate my stuffed mushied for breakie and before i had a shower i thought i would jump on the scales... but i noticed they were on the groove of the tiles... Moved... weighed and lost 400g even after breakie... not too. bad...

Just starting to notice change in my clothes...

To everybody else slow and steady wins the race...

Just keep drinking... Just keep drinking...

Hi Everyone,

Today I am forcing the water down, usually it is no problem.
Tomorrow I would have been on the diet for 1 week!!
I am soooo tired and grumpy, ahhhh!

The last couple of days I have been going to bed around 1am
which I know does not help, Then I have to get my four children up -
3 go to school - We are always late at the moment and I hate it!
I need to be nice to my body and go to bed at a good hour.
Usually this isn't a problem since my husband starts work everyday at 5am,
but he is on his 'days off' for a whole week.

Never the less I am very proud of myself and haven't slipped yet - except that sip of cordial my daughter said was bad, so I tested it without even thinking!
I just keep thinking about going shopping for all those new clothes - not just choosing them because they fit! LOL!
A good thing - I weighed myself this morning - another kilo down!!!
that makes 7kg so far - Wow it sounds even better when I type it!

I read some people have their period every 2 weeks! Just lately I am having problems with this already. Another main reason why I went on Cohen's was to fix this. Anyone else had these probs??

Thanks for being a sound board, All the best to everyone!
Mitmary7:p
