Signing up for Cohens

Thanks gayegal for the info on Bali. Concern about finding suitable food in Bali was holding me back. But after reading your post, I am signing up for Cohens.

Will check in next week with an update.

Thanks all and have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for your support the other day

Thanks girls for all your supportive words recently. My week was still pretty sour until today when my friend & I finally spoke for an hour and resolved the tension we were both feeling (especially me). It kinda turned into a awful situation towards the end because the whole office new about it, even HR ! Ive never seen chinese whispers go through an office so quickly! Everyone is full of gossip Hopefully after our chat today things are done and dusted.

Moving on to bigger & better things, I have kept losing weight every single day this week and currently weigh in at 93.5, I'd love to have a big loss over night and hit 92 (haha i wish!), will have to wait n' see.

Today I had that little voice in my head that was telling me to have a friggin biscuit to eat, but I resisted & stayed strong. Co-incidently, I put an order in yesterday for biscuits (for the kitchen @ work) anyways the order arrived today & I went downstairs to reception to collect it - to my surprise there was like 15 LARGE 3kg boxes - I stepped closer and saw the words "Arnotts Cream Biscuits" & I thought hmmm yeh thats what I ordered but not this amount. I'd ordered the bloody wrong code & we have now ended up with enough biscuits for the whole friggin year LOL! Oops - Michael asked me to take one of the boxes home, which I have done - he said he would give some to his parents! (yeh right!). We now have it sitting on our kitchen bench (inside 1 box is 6 packets of arnotts cream biccies) - I have been eye-ing them off all night, its terrible. I have my heart set on cracking the 80's though so they aint going near my mouth!

Off to have dinner now and finish my last bit of water for the day. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Take care

Mel

Hope everyones had a good day. I feel really tired and flat today. Could pig out on something, but so far have resisted. (hopefully I'm feeling like this because I'm losing weight.)
Congrats to Minxy you must be stoked. Hopeful1 and
Seven looking forward to hearing more from you. All the best with it.Gayegel - all the best for Monday, how exciting.
Mel - glad you got to talk it out. You're doing well with your weightloss. Good stuff. Well that's it for me I'm mega grumpy and tired. Yeah my fingers are wrinkly, and I'm cold all the time. I remember feeling constantly cold before, when I got to a certain weight.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Brief Introduction

YOU all have inspired me. I have an appointment on Tues (21/3) to take the next step.... For a serial dieter this is a big deal. I could have bought my house cash with all the money I have spent on diets companies, products, nick nacks, exercise machines, videos and dvds.

I have made a decision not to tell anyone. I hear you all gasp, but I feel sorry for my husband. He has watched me try and fail sooooo many times. I had the same measurements as Marilyn Monroe when we first met in 1993, now I look like Bee Smith from the TV show 'Prisoner' (for those of you old enough to stay up that late). So I have decided to do this on the quiet and I'm hoping that you will all be my motivation and by reading your posts I'll keep motivated to keep it going.

My main reason for trying this time.... I have accepted that I can't do it on my own (have tried and been watching myself put on weight). I need the weekly pushes to keep me going. But also I've hit triple digits again, I swore I would never hit the hundreds ever again..... Best was 87kgs two yrs ago and prior to that 74kg in 1998). Hate the feeling of tight clothes and hate buying ‘fat’ clothes even more. GRRRR!!

If you don’t see me around and don’t think i'm sticking to it... Please email and give me a whopping great big kick up the a*rse....

A bit about me... Working mother of 3 + hubby... have lots of animals. We live on a small acreage property south of Canberra. I'm a daggy public servant. Hate my job looking for another. I'm a volunteer fire fighter. Hate that fact that the protective clothing makes my bum look big. :(

Weakness...chocolate, zero cola and good looking firemen...

Thank you for your response. I will be getting my bloodwork on Monday and the refeed will follow. I appreciate your quick response. This is a great forum for sharing all our experiences. I know from reading the forum that the situations in the clinics are different. It is kinda lonely trying to figure things out online as we only get a copy of a very basic program and everything else is left up to whatever questions we have and the communication online. We generally get a response within 48 hours, unless like me, my computer kept kicking their responses out and this was frustrating. I finally found another contact and got it straightened out. I know to extend the program anothe 12 weeks was at a cost of $179. It didn't make sense if the diet didn't change.

Thanks again,

Sincerely, Linda717

Morning All !

Welcome Rompa. You've made the RIGHT decision & if you stick the the plan you won't be disappointed. I have found the Cohen's diet to have a "black & white structure" - there is no point system or calorie counting. You are told exactly what foods you are allowed to have and are given meal plan options making it simple. All you have to do is have the Will Power to follow it each day and the strength to not nibble at foods that arent mentioned. Wishing you all the best - we are all here to provide you with support and a friendly kick up the butt if needed!

Today is the end of week 19 for me (133 days). I only lost a small 100g overnight, but a weekly loss of 2.2kg taking me to 93.4kg. I took my measurements this morning and thought I'd share my current stats with you along with my total loss so far in each area:

Bust : 105 (total loss of 17.5cm)
Thigh : 60 (total loss of 17cm)
Hips : 110 (total loss of 25cm)
Arm : 35 (total loss of 13cm)
Waist : 90 (total loss of 22cm)

So a total body loss of 94.5cm so far, just short of 1m of my body. Which is pretty impressive in my books. I dont have any 'saggy' skin at this stage, just clumps of fat still to get rid off!

Someone mentioned the other day that they had a theory of that your body will lose weight from the top first - well for me it has pretty much been the opposite but at the same time a pretty even spread. I know myself I've lost a large amount of my butt/hips because I now have a 'tail-bone' that annoys the shit out of me, especially when sitting in the car LOL. I've gone from a 22DD Bra down to a 16D, Clothes size 22-24 down to a 16-18. Wouldn't surprise me if I've even lost weight on my feet - although my shoes still fit me length wise, they feel way to big width wise.

So to those of you who are fresh starting the journey or half way into it, keep up at it because the rewards along the way are so amazing.

Signing off for now, gotta go enjoy the w/end and soak up some sun!

Ciao ya'll

Mel

Thanks Mel

You have done so well!! Congratulations and keep going!
It is so interesting to see what is happening for others. Even though it has taken a while, I am impressed with my changes too, and as you will see from the stats, people can't help but notice. I am very small boned and very short, just 1.52cm so I still have a lot to go. I am still obese, but fast reaching the borderline, and my goodness you will hear about when I cross that line in a few weeks time!!

So for me since Cohen's - I didn't measure before that - I have lost 114.3cm. I have lost 36kgs. It has taken 36 weeks or 249 days.

Bust 107.9 lost 31.5cm
thigh 52.9 lost 13.4cm
Hips 114.2 lost 31.8cm
bicep 32.2 lost 7.8cm
Waist 98.1 lost 26.4cm

You can see that the middle part of me is still out of proportion big. But I can see the reshaping. Most of the excess is on the front or side of the body, but the back still has some heavy deposits - but you can definitely see more change in the back part of me, and the face and neck area above the bust.

My sizes now are all over the place, but mostly a 16-18 on top and 18-22 in skirts or trousers. I have gone from size 26 if they were big, and often they didn't fit right, they were just the largest size. And my bra size is still too big - I'm now a 20D to 20DD ... oh to be a B cup!!
The change has altered my balance, and put more pressure on my back so I get back aches sometimes because of the large bust. My shoe size has gone down 1 and 1/2 sizes not in length obviously, but in the thickness of the feet. And I resonate Mel, because I now remember that when I was in high school someone played a trick and pulled out my science stool so that I fell on my tail bone. It used to hurt - and guess what? I can feel it again! Also when I drive now I need to put a cushion on the seat because my height has gone down - less padding means less vision without a cushion.
This is amazing stuff isn't it. So keep going everyone. It will happen for you if you persist. All the new ones, welcome - and happy losing, it will be worth it.

Well, I have survived my first day!
I am half-way through my 3rd litre of water, am sooo happy that diet coke is available with a caffine free version, and so far so good!
I've weighed all the meat I bought yesterday and have labelled it with it's weight & trimmed it where it needed to be, as well as already prepared the veges for my omlete in the morning.
I have a question though - for brekkie this morning I had yoghurt with kiwi fruit, and 2 hours later i was starving. my tummy was grumbling! I'm not sure if it was just because it was the first day, or if it was the fruit. Does this happen to anyone else if they have fruit for breakfast?
I can i willWell Done!5.5kgs in 2 and a bit weeks is AMAZING! I hope I get results like yours! You go, girlfriend!
I'm go grateful to all of you - like a lot of you, I have only told 2 people - my best friend and a girl at work who I have lunch with (she would've figured it out eventually anyway!), so I can't wait to tell you all how much I lose!
Have a great Saturday night!

Ridiculous - WELL DONE ON COMPLETING THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR NEW LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are on your way now, and things will only get better!!!!!!
Just wanted to quickly post that for breakfast every day since I started this diet I have had mango smoothies, and I LOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE them. One morning I had an omlette, I felt hungry and hour later, but with the smooties I never do!!!
This is how I make them:

150g mango
175g natural yoghurt
half cup diet lemonade
a dash of granulated sweetner (am now using nutrasweet after the whole hermesetes incident!!)

I just whizz it up (I'm lucky enough to have a Breville milkshake maker, but you could use a normal blender). The BEST thing about these is that I make them the night before - not only do they get thicker in the fridge over night, but it means that as soon as I get out of bed I can eat my breaky (even when I'm half asleep, or running late)!!! Perfect for days when I get the chance to sleep in - get up at 7:30 - grab it out of the fridge, then go back to bed - means I don't have to end up eating at 10 o'clock at night if I want to sleep in!!! I find that it's really quite filling as well, seems to fill me up more than my other meals do during the day!!!
Please, please give this a go, I am addicted to them, and the best thing about using mango is that you get more for your allowance, 150g = 1 fruit, which is both cheeks of a middle sized mango!
Give it a go!! :D :D :D

Hey everybody, just a quick pop-in, have been catching up on all the posts! there have been so many that i have run out time to personalise my post a bit more!

Just wanted to say all is going well, into week 4 now, i think i need to mix up my meals a little, as they are boring me a bit - but that mango smoothie sounds awesome Tash - will def have to give that a go!
I can't wait to get under the 80 mark, and into the 70's! I'm treating myself to a much needed pedicure! Then I'll be on the homeward stretch!

Bestest to all - have a great weekend!

Ciao

Lou

Breakfast

Hi ridiculous, sounds like you are doing so well for your first day. Expect to be a bit hungry or headachey or whatever in the first couple of days. It will pass. I agree that the mango shake is an excellent choice. There are quick things you can do with eggs too, like the muffin recipe on the website.
I sometimes have egg and other times yoghurt. Found that I don't have a preference in terms of a hunger-stopper, but if I suspect I might be hungry I often have omelette if I have time! Isn't it funny how we are all different.
What works for me is having my fruit and biscuits in the morning rather than at breakfast, like morning tea. Helps with the hunger, especially if I also down a lot of water.

You will soon know what is best for you, but you will certainly get some great ideas and variety from all our taste buds.

Just a quick post for now, but good to see that the rest of you are doing so well. Good on ya!!

Congrats Kim_j01!

Congrats Kim_j01! Those results are fabulous for your first month, Im sure your second month will be impressive as well. :) :) :)

Well done everyone, what a great weight loss kim_jo1 and a fabulous beginning runwithali in fact it looks like we are all doing well. there is no doubt that this program brings results. Yes, yes I know I am the one who bemoans my slow loss and it is slower than some of you but its still damned good and I am getting slimmer and feeling and looking better all the time. I 'd rather be doing this program than staying my old size. I am still obese, gosh I hate that word!!! but not for too much longer. I become overweight at 81 kg and I will be very happy about that weight as its just the sound of the word obese that makes it seem worse. Overweight is not good either but sounds so much better than OBESE! As I haven't been within normal weight range for about 15 years or so, each decrease in BMI categories is a real milestone to achievement. BTW I got the wrinkled finger tip thing last night too. How weird, I wonder what that's about? I am off to a birthday party afternoon tea this afternoon and have even made little meringues (without eating any). I have told the birthday girl that I will not eat and will only have my diet cola. I am not too concerned although I know the smell of homemade sausage rolls will be a bit hard to take. I feel strong and fine about it all and I know I won't have trouble resisting. Have a good day everyone.
