Hi Everyone,
I just thought I would add a little message to the blood donation aspect from my own experience.
I was one of those people who was going to get around to donating blood ' one day' and inevitably never found time.
My last child was born at 28 weeks gestation weighing 958 grams. He spent 9 weeks in intensive care and 2 weeks in special care nurseries. During that time I was told he would need blood tranfusions. Prematurity meant that he could not receive blood from a relative. This meant I had to rely on a strangers blood. Anyone who has been through this knows what a heartbreaking thing it is to put your life in the hands of someone you have never met. Anyway.....transfusion received, son now an energetic 2 1/2 year old. From that day I swore I would not have any more excuses and would find a way to donate and rope others into doing it too.
When I went back to work, I told my workmates about the experience and managed to rope in 44 people to donate blood. Most of those (including myself) donate regularly. I do plasma/platlet donations which means I can donate every 3 weeks. I have not been able to donate whilst on Cohens and hate saying no when they call. Hopefully this will change again very soon.
missysmum. I have a friend who does stem cell research - there are some amazing breakthroughs, hopefully one of these will help your family. I wish your family all the best.
MONI - I think when we do eat out, we do tend to eat probably 'less' than what is on the diet. I probably have a smaller meal and allow myself at least one bite of dessert. Also, congratulations - your 2nd goal is almost here. (I still havent been swimming, but will try my best).
I have been off centrum now for 4 days. Craving madly the first two days, not so bad now. I am a little confused about the issue of vitamin B and what is too much? My consultant has never said anything to me about it, so if someone has some details, would they mind posting it for me. Thanks
I had some vegie muffins for breakfast this morning. They are really handy for those people who are on the run. Yummy too.
As predicted, I did pay for my chip eating episode. I am now 62.5kg.
I have had quite a few comments on the fact I should now 'stop' losing weight. In any case, my refeed hasnt been ordered and dr.cohen is on holidays, so it will be January either way. Regarless of my weight then, I will start my refeed.
Good luck with this week ladies, its the lead up to Christmas and there are bound to be opportunities thrown at you with after work drinks etc......be strong. I have a straight run through to christmas now, all my functions have finished.
