Hello everyone glad to hear everyone is going well with the silly season upon us I went shopping last night for christmas presents, i have cool wrapping paper but not to many preasents to wrap. I will have to go on the weekend with everyone else. '
Moni - Hope you dont mind but can i ask how long t as taken you to lose 23kg ?
Nat- nice to put a face to a name i should do it soon, santa should bring a digital camera i hope, by your ticker thingy ( I aslo need one of these) your half way there, well done.
Myshy- Congrats on the 10kilo loss, hows the swimming been ? i also take centrum.
Nearly there40kg- your weight loss is fantastic. Stick with it

whoops computer problems
Nearly there 40kg - you have done so well since August you must feel great keep at it. GOOD LUCK MONDAY

Have a great weekend everyone, talk to you soon
** I dont have a christmas goal but have a weekend one it is to drink more than 2 L of water on the weekend lately all i have had is 2L. will see how i go - casey

Nearlythere DON"T GIVE UP!

40KGS!!!!

I'd give my left leg to lose 40KGS, in fact it most likely would take me chopping it off to do it! (not really I am halfway there!)

Nearlythere, stick with it, get back on the horse, I fell off the wagon last weekend, it bloody killed me, but come Sunday night, Monday I was back on and raring to go, this week has been a lot easier for some reason, maybe sometime we need to fall to know how good it is being on.

I'm officially less than 120kg, at 119.7kg this morning, which is pretty special.

And this tea is causing some issues! Any suggestions about best time to drink? I drink it at night at the moment and it kicks in around NOON, not a good time for me at work!

any suggestions would be great, I also use the vitamins from the clinic, found it easier that siting through the hard sell every month and they do't have as much vitamin B as the Ladies Suisse I was taking (they said the B was making me hungry) no the lack of food is making me hungry!!

Hi Everyone,
CRYSS - As predicted, my tea drinking episode landed me in trouble today! I took my drink about 10.30am...and the effect hit me right in the middle of shopping! I didn't want to subject anyone to the effects and nearly crashed my car trying to get home. My kids are begging me not to drink anymore - the effects have become legendary in our household.

CASEY
- The centrum has lactose in it and will slow down weight loss. I had my first day off it today and guess what..........hand a handful of salt n vinegar chips. I couldn't help myself. I will need to find an alternative with chromium in it quick smart.

Wasn't up to my usual water drinking today. I hate it when you have days like that.

Night everyone :)

Myshy

Myshywith the vitamins I have been taking Nature's Own Multivitamin Omega 3 Fish Oil, but it has more vit B6 than they recommend and no chromium. Now that I have almost finished I think I am going to switch to Bioglan. From memory there's no sugar, yeast, starch, gluten or lactose. And its lower in B6 and I'm pretty sure it has chromium. Maybe check it out in your search? A LOT of Women's formulas contain our no-no's so be very careful!!!

Ok - I've just had a look on the net and Bioglan do two multivitamins. DAILY PLUS MAX has only 10mcg of vit B6, contains chromium and has none of the baddies. Daily Plus Multivitamin and Mineral has quite a bit more B6 and doesnt specify whether it has lactose or not. So if you're interested make sure its DAILY PLUS MAX that you check out.

Its going to be a late night for me again... I had afternoon tea (herbal tea only) with a friend today and got back a lot later than expected so ended up having lunch at 5:30pm. And I went to Christmas Carols at Federation Square and only got home a little while ago, so my dinner has been at 11.15pm... So I'll be staying up to give myself the two hours before sleep gap. Lucky I dont have to get up in the morning!

I have a question for anyone that can answer. Has anyone experienced a period that was pretty much non existent while on the diet? It has put in an appearance and I tend to be light on at the best of times but this is different. I'm not complaining- I didnt experience pain on ovulating or ANY period pain where normally I am quite sick the first day. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience? Sorry to be so personal, but I'm pretty sure its the diet as thats the only thing thats changed in my life.

Hope everybody has a great weekend. :)
Hmmm... now to keep myself occupied for a couple of hours...

Hi everyone
I have only been reading the threads :) Well I fell off the wagon AGAIN but am now back on :) This morning I was 71 YAY only 21 to go (or 16 is what I would like to lose) I stick to my plan more when I have people around than I do at home with just my son and myself. I have been to 3 Xmas parties and just take my own :) everyone tells my how good I am and then ask how much I have lost so when they hear .... OH I have just realised it is 30kgs!! I keep saying 28 (yes those other 2 DO matter :) ) anyway I think they can see why I take my own. I am lucky as I do not have anyone tempting me, only the cupboard at home :(
Anyway enough about me - you all are doing SOOOOO well :)
Carolyn

Height

Morning,

Has anyone re-measured their height since they have been on the program? I have measured 168cm for as long as I can remember and double checked this acurately b4 I started the program. Anyway, this morning Michael said I look slightly taller. So we took out the tape measure and...... he was right. I have grown 3cm taller in the 6wks I have been on the program, so Im now 171cm. Hmm, should my goal weight be then readjusted to 66kg???

Im wondering if this is due to the effect of HGH?

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

CRYSS - WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO I'm so happy for you at reaching under 120kg!!! That is excellent!! Stay focused from here on and you'll be catching up to me in no time.

Mel

Good morning ladies. I hit the 50s this morning and I'm soooo excited! The scales have been doing their usual teasing for a couple of weeks - hovering between 60 and 60.2 but just refusing to go under! But this morning, hello 59.2kg! Anyway, enough about me ...

Moni, your weight loss has been so fast! Congratulations. It would definitely keep you motivated with those kind of results.

Mel, that is weird that you've grown. I wish I had. I'm only 1.55 so any additional height would be well received!

Cryss, under 120kg - fantastic!

Welcome back danpoll. Great to hear your back on track.

Divinemissnat, I've got an Implanon so I hadn't had a period for over 3 years, but about a month after starting the diet, I got quite heavy periods that only lasted a day or so and spotting. There was no pattern to it - some days I had it and other days I didn't. I actually thought it had perhaps stopped because I haven't had anything since I started the refeed, but this morning I woke up to it again. I did mention this to my consultant when it first started happening and she said that a lot of women did experience changes in their cycle whilst on the diet.

Anyway, I had better get going. Having a xmas party tonight so have to hit the shops. Have a great weekend everyone and resist temptation! Lisa:)

Hello everybody!! Congrats Cryss you are going great, Mel how long has it taken you to lose the 14kg? I remember when doing this the first time i lost exactly 10kg in the first 4 weeks so today marks 3 weeks for me and down 7.7kg so 2.3kg til my first 10kg yeeha bring it on.
Well i went xmas shopping today couldnt resist this talking teddy he sings and his little mouth moves oh so cute another toy for the toyshop thats what my loungeroom is like its a mini toys r us ha ha.
Whats everyone having for xmas lunch and dinner? Im going to have turkey and salad for lunch and a nice piece of bbq fish and salad for dinner ive gone right off the prawns.
Go Lisa in the 50's what size are you in now? Ive got my size 14 jeans on today and they are baggy around the legs and bum so im pleased about that, ive got a whole wardrobe of different sized clothes so dont have to worry about running out to buy stuff,im a hoarder hate throwing things out so when i weighed 68kg in 1999 ive got all my clothes from then, no wonder OH doesnt have any wardrobe room. Well i better say G'bye im going to have a walk on the treadmill as ive hardly used it this week. Have a great evening talk soon Chez

Hi Ladies,
DIVINEMISSNAT - Thanks for the hint on the vitamins. I am really in need of something. Today marked my 2nd day off centrum and I am craving terribly. I ate some potato chips today :( and did not enjoy them very much at all. Yet I continued to eat them..not sure how many but enough to do some damage I think.

I am intrigued that some of the clinics are selling vitamins, mine obviousely doesnt. If I was Dr.Cohen I'd have my own brand sold through the chains.

I woke up today at 62kg. I'll probably show some effect from the chips so I am not game to change my ticker just yet :D

57-62 is my goal weight set by Cohens. My scales and the ones at the clinic differ by 4 kilos. I am sticking with mine just for now and will only re-adjust my thoughts when I get my new set for chrissy. I am quite happy with how I am going and I am far more comfortable in clothes now than I have been in years. I have been 57kg before, but I think I have already mentioned that I lost all my muscle mass then too. It was not a good look and one I am keen not to repeat.

Anyway, enough chatting...I'm off to have a video fest tonight (but no goodies for me!) I think I've been bad enough today. The rest of the family have decided to keep junk food to a maximum one night a week too, so that is making it easier :)

MEL - I don't think I am any taller, I havent measured my height in years, but I am very interested in what you say.
Myshy

Hi girls sorry I know its been awhile since my last post I have been reading them all just so pleased for you all. What great amounts of weightloss you all are having.

I going well too maybe could have put more effort into it lately but weighed this morning and have one and a half kilos to go that makes 30 kilos for me. Maybe just might make it to the 30 kilo deadline by the end of December I am trying hard.

Update on my son-in-law well having his 3rd dose of chemo just after xmas but they are looking at a stem cell transplant, I guess because of how far its advanced. Its not a very happy xmas this year for us my daughter was so teary wondering if this is his last xmas with the kids last night.

Also cant believe I am to old to go on the list of bone marrow donors. So I am asking if you never thought of doing it please consider it,you never know if you or your family will ever need it, we never did.

So I wish you all a very happy xmas and most importantly a healthy and safe coming year. With lots of weight loss we all should be looking great by next xmas. cheers ho ho ho Dianne

Hi Ladies!

I have to put in my two cents worth on bone marrow transplants.
There are quite a few restrictions as to who can be registered as Di has found out. I believe it is very important that each one of us seriously thinks about bone marrow donation. If you find it in your heart that you would like to be registered please ACT on your decision. It only takes a simple blood test to be registered.
Outside of family the chances of finding a suitable match drop drastically therefore the more people on the list the better the chances.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to donate my marrow for a lukaemia sufferer. If anyone is interested in registering and has any questions on the process I am happy to answer them. Either leave me a private message or email me

Di- my thoughts are with you and your family this Christmas.

Thankyou if everyone I knew could look into donating bone marrow that would be so good the chances of you every having to do it are pretty slim but I will leave this thought with you the initial blood test they take 470mls of blood so it read--------all I can say if it helps with the weight loss isnt that good LOL CHEERS DIANNE

Hi Everyone,
I just thought I would add a little message to the blood donation aspect from my own experience.
I was one of those people who was going to get around to donating blood ' one day' and inevitably never found time.
My last child was born at 28 weeks gestation weighing 958 grams. He spent 9 weeks in intensive care and 2 weeks in special care nurseries. During that time I was told he would need blood tranfusions. Prematurity meant that he could not receive blood from a relative. This meant I had to rely on a strangers blood. Anyone who has been through this knows what a heartbreaking thing it is to put your life in the hands of someone you have never met. Anyway.....transfusion received, son now an energetic 2 1/2 year old. From that day I swore I would not have any more excuses and would find a way to donate and rope others into doing it too.

When I went back to work, I told my workmates about the experience and managed to rope in 44 people to donate blood. Most of those (including myself) donate regularly. I do plasma/platlet donations which means I can donate every 3 weeks. I have not been able to donate whilst on Cohens and hate saying no when they call. Hopefully this will change again very soon.

missysmum. I have a friend who does stem cell research - there are some amazing breakthroughs, hopefully one of these will help your family. I wish your family all the best.

MONI - I think when we do eat out, we do tend to eat probably 'less' than what is on the diet. I probably have a smaller meal and allow myself at least one bite of dessert. Also, congratulations - your 2nd goal is almost here. (I still havent been swimming, but will try my best).

I have been off centrum now for 4 days. Craving madly the first two days, not so bad now. I am a little confused about the issue of vitamin B and what is too much? My consultant has never said anything to me about it, so if someone has some details, would they mind posting it for me. Thanks :)

I had some vegie muffins for breakfast this morning. They are really handy for those people who are on the run. Yummy too.

As predicted, I did pay for my chip eating episode. I am now 62.5kg.
I have had quite a few comments on the fact I should now 'stop' losing weight. In any case, my refeed hasnt been ordered and dr.cohen is on holidays, so it will be January either way. Regarless of my weight then, I will start my refeed.

Good luck with this week ladies, its the lead up to Christmas and there are bound to be opportunities thrown at you with after work drinks etc......be strong. I have a straight run through to christmas now, all my functions have finished.

Myshy

Hello again
I love reading all the interesting thoughts and stories, and what a supportive group you are. I hope that Missysmum has some joy this Christmas. I was wondring why when we ae on the Cohen's diet that we cant donate blood, does any one know, is it because it will have a bad effect on us or the people we donate blood to?
I picked up my program last Wednesday, so this is day 5. I have had a couple of mild headaches and my back and hips have been aching - very strange. I have not been constipated - in fact the opposite, very smelly poos.
What is everyone doing for christmas day lunch/dinner. I am having turkey and vegetables and a mini friut salad for lunch with the family.
Keep up the good work everyone, I'm very impressed with you all.
Barbara
