Hi everyone. Welcome to all the newbies. Just a quick post to say hi.

Lizzi, congratulations! You are on the final leg of what is an amazing achievement in weight loss. I imagine you don't even recognise yourself when you see your reflection in the mirror.

Mel, it was so good to read your post. I was only thinking about you a couple of weeks ago, wondering how you were going. You have also done so wonderfully well and you should be really proud of your achievements. You will no doubt be the most beautiful bride.

Beck, hope you doing well off the refeed.

I'm still doing great. For those who don't know me, I started Cohens on the 11th July last year and lost 35 kg, finishing my refeed in mid December. I've managed to maintain my weight which is great. I'm in training for the City to Bay, which is a 12km walk from Adelaide to Glenelg in September. I would never have dreamed 12 months ago that I'd be competing in it this year, but I guess there's a lot of things I wouldn't have dreamed I'd be doing 12 months ago! It's amazing how losing the weight has changed me completely, for the better I think.

For any of you struggling, the end results are amazing and I urge you to stick with it. You won't regret it!

It looks like you are all wonderful support to each other on this forum, which is what you need when you're on this diet because only other people doing it understand what you are going through.

Keep up the great work everyone and stay positive.

Lisa :)

Big Daddy

Way to go Big Daddy!!! you've done a really great job, congratulations!!!!! Glad the Joondalup closure didn't set you back especially seeing it happened so soon in your program. I'm sure it will be great getting the "jaw drop" from your parents hey?

Skinniminni,

Salmon is NOT on the list. You MUST stick with ONLY the fish named in the list. Trust me. Salmon is not on. I found out the hard way coz I didn't read hte list properly, and lost nothing in the week I had 3 salmon meals instead of tuna.

Don't do it.

asy :D

Hi Megan,
I've been on the program 2 weeks, but already had to eat out at least 5 times. I've still lost weight, and pretty happy with how I've managed them. I havent been to anyones house. But I would just explain the types of food you can eat...... ie salad with some sort of protein etc. For restaurants, I've been getting an entree size greek salad, asian beef salad, calamari and salad, or something like that. To be honest, they are still too big, so you only eat part of it. A couple of times I've had to ask for special meals, and they've been happy to do that. I normally ask for balsamic vinegar dressing on the salad, and obviously the weights are not correct. But I need to eat out for business lunches etc so I have to do my best with that. I've lost 7 kilos so far. So, it hasn't caused too much damage, but I think I could have lost more if I wasn't eating out so much.

I've had some dizziness, but nothing compared to what I felt when I snuck a tiny piece of cake on the weekend...... it was my birthday! I couldn't believe the effect that had on me!

I haven't been hungry at all and am struggling to get through the crispbread and fruit allowance I have. I thought everyone was lying when they said you didn't feel hungry.... but its true. I think its due to the protein at every meal.

Fortunately I don't have to cook for my family, but I struggle when I do have to do it. Its just habit to take a little taste. So, I've been staying well away from other cooking!

I have to lose over 50 kilos, so I know that its intimidating to start something like this. But I think it works and you'll enjoy the results!

Just my thoughts...

Hi everyone! Lots of people have asked lots of questions and being a chatterbox, I am going to give you my responses to them...so forgive me - this could be a long post!
~BAM~ When I first started the program, I was constantly running to the loo. As my body body has adjusted to the increased water intake, it has gotten better though. I don't have to go to the loo as much and I don't have to get up and go through the night anymore (I was going 3-4 times every night in the beginning!). Trust me - it will get better. :)
trim-trim I eat 3 meals a day and some days I have snacks (fruit or crispbread), but on others I either eat my snacks with my meals or skip them all together. As MagicLee said, no set times for meals, you just have to make sure you have 5 hours between them. My average loss per month is about 7.8kg. The diet plan is the same for the duration of the program and only changes when you do the refeed. No idea if there is a payment plan - sorry!
skinniminni Salmon is definitely a no-no. I LOVE salmon and asked my consultant about it when I first started the program. Her response was this: "Tell me, can you think of an animal that loves to eat salmon?" I said "Bears?" She said "Yes! And why do bears eat salmon?" I said "To build up enough fat to get them through the winter?" She said "Exactly. And that's the same thing your body does with salmon when you eat it...it stores it as fat." I said "BUGGER!!!" :p So as asyoz said - Don't do it!
8-2-much Megan, I haven't been 'out' and had a meal since starting the program, but I have been 'out'. I usually make sure I can eat just before I go so that I am full and I'll just order a nice long black coffee to have while other's are eating. As for lunch at friends places - I just take my lunch with me. If they are your friends, they won't be offended and will commend you on you determination to stick with the plan!

As for my progress...I was getting a bit worried because I realised I was running out of clothes that fit me...they are all getting to LOOSE!!! My pants are baggy and my skirts are all falling down. Lots of people have commented that I should 'get a belt'. So I went op shopping and found some great clothes, but the best thing of all was a pair of size 14 - YES - size 14!!! pants that I FIT INTO.   This was a huge thing for me because I used to have to squeeze into a size 26!!! I am still having trouble believing it! :D

As for eveyone else out there making fantastic progress (those tickers are showing some great results!!!) well done and keep up the good work! Hope you all have a sweet dreams!

Thanks for your support!

Thanks for your comments. I have to remind myself just how far I've come
sometimes!!

On the weekend I went to a 40th Birthday with food "supplied".
It was the first time I didn't weigh my food. The last 2 weeks my weight
has slowed right down - only 1.4kg loss when it's usually 2-3kg.
So for the party I ate 2 spring rolls (large), garlic bread and chicken salad.
Oh and cake! My tummy hurt! I was waiting for the next morning to see the damage. 600g gain. Not so bad, but the best thing was this morning I lost 300g again!! I didn't have to wait 5 days for a lost again. I think it has kick started my loss again - not to say to pig out and make things better!
Today I feel better than I have in a long time.

Keep up the good work everyone, It's so worth it. Have a sexy summer!

Karenk

Hi everyone,
everyone sounds like they are going great. well done and congratulations!!

8-2-much: i have been on the program for six weeks now and have lost 18kilos.i have to cook for my family each night, but once a week i make up all of my meals for the week and freeze them.so when my family sits to eat all ii have to do is microwave them and i sit with them. a friend of mine cooks her own meal directly after cooking the families and has real trouble.i find it hard to drink consistently throughout the day but come 4pm i down about 3 litres to go withthe 1 litre during the day.
Does any one know if this defeats the purpose? or is 4 litres 4 litres whenever you have it.??
I have 40 to lose and it seemed impossible at first as i was a huge wine fan.
but i dont get the cravings anymore and dont need the snacks.
Hope this helps.
good luck on your journey it is well worth it,,just ask my kids they are slowly getting their mum back.i can even manage a slow jog to cover when it starts to rain.....could never do that before.
Big hugs to you all

Thank You!

Hi guys, have been off the air for some time due to personal issues - father had another heart attack, 2 days later my uncle died and last Thursday I was advised that on 14th August I need to have a hysteroscopy/laparoscopy - have had my period on and off for the past 2 1/2 months and iron levels are woeful. In the past month I have been like a human oesophicus and have devoured everything in my path. I was ready to rejoin the Cohen program on Saturday and now have to put it off. I had been working my way through the previous program I had but it had lapsed and I wanted to see how committed I was before I paid all over again.

Have some questions for you folks out there, what feedback can you provide on getting over the anaesthetic and getting life back in order. I will make another appointment to start the program in the next couple of weeks but need to get my iron levels back up again so I the program is based on my true self rather than the low iron levels I am experiencing right now. Any advice would be graciously appreciated. I so desperately want to get things back in order and my hormones have gone crazy but I know this will disappear after the operation.

It appears I am always asking questions and I hope one day I will be in the position to bestow my wisdom with this program on to others.

For the rest of you, keep up the good work - you are still very inspiring and the very reason I want to get back on the program and am prepared to pay for it all over again.

Thank you for your motivation.

Week 12

Hi All

Time for my 4 weekly post again. I have lost 5.4kg in the last 4 weeks. A bit less than I hoped for, but still. Now I have 10 kg to go. I was first very adamant that I was only going to do 16 weeks of this, but according to my calculations, I should still go another 8 weeks or so. So, hopefully I can keep going till I actually get to goal. Emotionally I fluctuate from one extreme (I will not go for one day more than 16 weeks!) to the other extreme (Noooooo man, it will be fine, go for goal, even if it takes another 10 weeks), then (Are you crazy!) and so on and so on.

The other interesting thing is at first I really wished the time to go as fast as possible. But now I am starting to get very scared of life out there without Cohen's. Will we cope, will we fall back, what will this body of mine do with all the "non Cohen's" food... We want to have another baby, and that is where all my weight issues lie. I pick up, or rather USED to pick up at between 20 and 35kg with my pregnancies. Will it be ok this time, or is all this effort and tears going to have to be done again? So many questions running around in my mind. Ignore the whole story if you think there is a crazy woman on the loose on this forum.

Anyway, I still read every post faithfully, and I follow your progress eagerly. Like so many before I want to say: This program works. Even for someone like me who's had the half my thyroid removed and had a VERY VERY slow metabolism. I must say, I am hungry quite often, but I see this as a positive sign: hopefully I am getting a metabolism again.

Anyway, talk to you guys again in 4 weeks.

Love
Ingrid

PS. Mumbine, my heart goes out to you. I think it is the wisest thing to sort out the spiritual and emotional issues first. Get the healing there, and the physical part will follow, sometimes naturally after healing and deliverance, sometimes we have to work at it a bit. But if the diet is just making you obsess more, get help first. I commend you for what you are doing! All the best!

Good morning everyone,
i have noticed there are a few Brisbane people on here i am from tweed heads but went though the brendale clinic with Suzanne she is great. i do my program through the mail or if i need her for anything she is only a phone call away.
What clinic do you go to ?:D

Sadz....

Hi All... I have been told that my sugar level have gone up!! I dunno why but i have been sticking to the program 100%... Its really bother me to hear that again.... My consultant told me that i would not be able to go on the actual program unless I take medicine for my sugar level... i do not wish to... its sad but i have to see what is Dr Cohen's decision..... I am still losing weight.. but i want to be healthy too... I am really sadz.... :(

babbyeggsorry to hear about your sugar how many fruit do u have a day? have you tried having different fruit to see if this affects it. Do you know of anyone that has the finger prick machine that you could test this out on ?:)

Thank you so much....

One last reply before my new getting better journey. You might come back to see me again after I sort out this psychological stuff! Hopefully then the weight will take of itself though.

I just want to say that all your thoughts and comments have been really appreciated and mostly have made myself feel better about my decision. For so many years I have been telling myself that i have a problem but i just decide to try this 'last' thing before i seek help for the real issues. It has been liberating to finally confront my feelings about it and be real to myself. I have an appointment tomorrow at the PCOS clinic at Royal Womens and i'm confident they will be able to point me in the right direction to get help with my eating disorder.

Thank you all for your comments, encouragement and wisdom shared along the way. All those that take the time to reply and encourage others have done a lot to make this forum a needed source of inspiration.

Good Luck to you all and I'll be checking in every now and again to see how you're all going on your weight loss journey. I'm very sad to be leaving that journey myself, but i am on the way to a new one.

God Bless

Melisa;)

Fornight: That wasn't really a stab at Cohens clinics. I just think that the psychological issues involved in the dieting merry go round can do a lot of damage along the way and they would do well to employ a counsellor or something to help tackle those issues. :)

Hi Megan (8-2much!)- haha i love this nickname so clever,

Im so sorry for the belated reply to your message :( I work in an extreamly busy office and having trouble keeping up with all the posts.

And yes, id love to be your mentor :) Just email me or add yourself to my Msn Messenger (Ive private messaged this to you).

I am now on Day 3 of the Cohen's Journey and i love it. Im not hungry at all, no dizzyspell's, headache's or anything and i have lost abit of weight already also.. But i wont say how much as i dont completely trust my scales at home, so i will let you all know after my appointment with my consultant on Monday of next week.

Anyway, thats all from me for now. Check your Private Message box and i expect an email from you soon :)

Take Care, im here anytime..

cold...flu....

i hve got the flu and i have noticed that my weight isn't moving at all.....

had a wedding on the weekend did extreemly well the only bad thing wa a very small peice of wedding cake. Told the bride we wouldn't have any and she looked upset cause hubby and i were their bridal party. just a small wedding of 17 people... so i am happy with that but come home from perth with a cold......

Tam

Tasm82: It happens to me too. I am still trying to recover from the last tail end (tat's what the doc called it) of the flu. Based on my memory, I have this flu for approx 3 weeks now and the weight just goes between 69/68 during these times.

In addition, I am facing quite a bit of work stress in the office too. I heard from another cohen dieter that stress will stall the weight loss too. Anyway, I am going for my blood test next monday and my only hope is that the result of the test will turn out to be good. They did a wrong test in my previous visit. They were supposed to do a full test in order to check my liver function but they did only the kidney. I fast for nothing for that test!!!!

I stayed indoor most of the time during the past 3 weeks due to the drowsy medication and body feeling weak. The only good thing that turn out from being such a hermit is that I actually managed to catch up on my knitting skills and is almost done on a small project that I am hoping to give away as birthday present.
