chryss hope everything is going okay for you. Was expecting regular posts. If its hard, dont worry, get on here and let us talk you ear off. Just know you are being thought of - sending you a big hug.

hey netski I just noticed, you & I have the same amount left to lose until our goal!!! Its not really all that far away you know.

Hello

L-Jay . I think you got me confused i'm 73.6 but you're right you don't have far to go you're be there in no time

To everyone else. I spose i feel i bit guilty but this is a little bit of a temporary goodbye. I'll be house sitting up in the mountains behind brisbane for a few weeks (six) actually . And i feel i wont really have many opportunities to post. However i will try my very hardest to post from time to time but it will be tough. Know that firstly i am with you all everyday. Thinking about everyones amazing transformations in body and mind. Hopefully when you hear from me next i will be ordering my refeed and i will use every available opportunity to keep you all up to date. I thank you all for the amazing and unconditional support you have given me through the good, the great the horrible and the bad.

so i'll continue on my Cohens journey with the thought that you are all here with me too!

Stay strong, i'll be watching you all.

As i said though i will be checking up on you from time to time, if i can so be true to yourselves!

With all my love, thoughts, prayers and support

Netski

End of week one

:) So I have come to the end of my first week with a 3.7kg weight loss and a 3cm measurement loss.

I deviated the last 2 days because I have been on a training course and I wasn't well prepared with my food. In hindsight I guess I was stressing because the course I am doing requires me to sit an exam for my accreditation at the end of this week and I was focussing on that and not what I was doing for myself. Lesson Learnt. So I ended up eating stuff that I said I wouldn't eat but did anyway. Without flogging myself to within an inch of my life I did wonder how much more I would have lost if I had been more diligent with my own food during these 2 days.

Interestingly, when I came home at night I ate my Cohens food allowance as per my plan. This is an interesting change to previous diets when I would eat something bad and then just blow the whole day with garbage - if I ever deviate again I want to know that I can sustain some sensible behaviour without my childish blow out antics of the past. Ideally I should be more prepared but some days life just happens. This is not a cop out of my responsibilities, but rather a reality check. I did however lose weight given the deviation and for that I am eternally grateful.

One of the things I am noticing about myself is by reading everyones posts and being honest myself on my posts I am changing long held behaviours of self sabotage. It is a small step because it has only been a week but it is enormous for me to be able to write so honestly without judging myself but rather getting back on the horse after I have been bucked off so to speak.

For those who posted about constipation - I haven't had the problem this time round with Cohen's. I know it has been one week but even when I was on Cohens previously - I had massive problems after only a few days. I have been on Metamucil for the better part of 15 years and it worked a treat until I started Cohen's last year and had lots of pains.

This time I have taken the following approach and it is working a treat. Basically I drink 2 glasses of water immediately on waking in the morning before I have breakfast. I then have my breakfast of yoghurt and kiwi fruit and then I have my vitamins as per Cohens but have also included 2 Spirulina tablets (1000mg). So far so good. Spirulina isn't on the vitamin list but it is an antioxidant and very good for your skin. I don't know if others have a view on Spirulina but it has worked for me. I buy the one from GNC.

By the way, my ticker looks wierd because I was 100.4kg when I started and am now 96.7 and the numbers are running into each other because of where the weight has registered on the ticker - hope this makes sense?

oops sorry netski (hope you enjoy time in the mountains, I'm so envious). I actually meant dilfizzle and I have a similar amount left to lose. and its not that much really.
Jasmine you are doing great. Its those little changes you notice in the things you do like you said about having your cohens tea, that make a huge difference in the end. Well done.

I thought having my period start would maybe have put my weight up a bit, but its down another 1/2kg. This program never ceases to amaze me.

It's been a little while - sorry guys! I appreciate each of you and look forward to reading what is going on. I have read the forum, but it has been a very quick read each day.
I think that this for me has just been a super long time, and I needed to have some days when I focus on something else! Hope that makes sense. have been taking some TLC time for me. Am enjoying my knitting, watching DVD's, not thinking too much after work or the weekends - and just going out without thinking about weight-loss.
Not totally true, because I have done endless calculations of whether I will reach my goal weight by 20th October which is when I will be away for 6 weeks. (I may or may not make it!) Maybe I just needed to talk about something different for a while. After all, this is week 50 for me, if you can believe that!!
Seems some of you are struggling, and I feel for you. It isn't easy when the mind is racing around trying to actively avoid the urge to eat the wrong thing. But plug this in - each time we sabotage ourselves we make it harder and longer. Is it really worth it. Come on all of you - are you going to let me beat you? You really don't need to be that gracious!! Do it for yourselves, be proud of yourself. Believe in yourself!!
To all those who are doing well, good for you. Love reading about your great progress. New ones, you will be so pleased you did this, worth going for 110%!
Netski, will definitely miss your posts, so make sure you stay strong, and post when you can - I'm sure you can do it. Sounds like a short sea-change for you, so have fun won't you?
thanks for asking about me the old me, and may your days without deviation be looonnngg!!. You hang in there, cos you are getting closer L-Jay!
I asked my consultant about the frozen mango cheeks, and apparently Dr Cohen has said no to that one. What a shame.
Was interested in the spirulina idea Jasmine, have you checked with the consultant because I wasn't sure when I went to the web to check it out. Worth asking not because it will affect weightloss, but because it may cause a deviation.
So much to say, but not enough to individualize it.
My ticker is moving down so slowly, but it has been 10 days in the 63 point somethings - far too long!
Take care of yourself everyone, and forgive me for when I don't post as often. Although I will try, it's only a phase. You are all going to make it if you truly want to, so trust yourself more and believe in what this will mean for you.

Hello! I have returned from my old friends' gathering. I think I did not deviate very drastically. I did not touch any of the carbs and sticked to only the proteins and veg. The only sad thing is I mix up the proteins and they are pretty oily.

I tried to restrict myself to only a few helpings but unfortunately, there was this old friend of mine who was so worried that I did not eat enough and watching how many I ate. :p He was too gentlemanly and was worried that I was not full enough. He kept giving me BBQ chicken wings (5 of them!!!) I was too embarassed to reject so I have to finish them slowly while I chit chat with all my friends. He noticed that I kept eating the cucumbers so he also ask for more of them from the foodstall.

I can't believe how uncomfortable I felt after the session. It not the "rounded" stuffed...but things being cramped in the gastric kind of stuffed. Its as if, they are queuing up in the gastric waiting to be digested and that lasted for 3 hrs!!!!

Hi everyone,
L-Jay, I am finding it harder just because I'm getting really bored. I think because I stuck to it for so long previously, I'm just bored, and also the weight seems to be slower which is not great for the motivation. I just realised this morning that I am taking a vitamin that I wasn't taking last year, and didn't have ok'd by Dr Cohen, so I think I will stop taking that for a day or 2 and see if it makes any difference.
Lizzi, what an amazing effort!!! I can't imagine sticking to this for 50 weeks. You must be an incredibly strong person. I'm sure you'll reach your goal before too long, and I really hope it is before your trip. Shame about the frozen mango. I just love mango and couldn't have it last year when I did this, either, because it wasn't mango season, and now it's still not mango season.
Jasmine, excellent weight loss for your first week. I find that if I am going out, the crackers and cheese is a good option for lunch, and then take along a bit of tomato, cucumber and lettuce in a snap lock bag and make a little "open sandwich". Doesn't look too conspicuous and is reasonably easy to take with you and make up anywhere.
Netski, have a great time house sitting. You'll probably be just about at goal by the time you return. Try to keep us informed as to how you are going as we all love to hear from everyone.
the old me, keep those "deviation free days" ticking along. Your prawn recipe sounds really yummy.
dilfizzle, good luck ordering your re-feed.
sunshine*,you're not the only one who is not feeling too "sunny" at the moment. I think the cold weather is not helping, but I would also love something different to eat. Not something "bad", just something different. Might be time to go and buy another nice piece of fillet steak for dinner!! Don't ever not post because you're feeling down. We are all here to help each other, and everyone has gone through the same thing at one time or another. I tend to post more when I'm down or hungry as it takes my mind off it all.
MagicLea, sorry, I'm not a big fish eater. The only fish I tend to eat is tuna, and all I do with it is add my mayonaisse allowance a bit of garlic powder and then cook my allowance of cauliflower and mash the cauliflower into the tuna and heat it all up. Doesn't sound very exciting, but it is quite nice and the cauliflower takes away the Dryness of the tuna.
Mumbine, how are you going today. Well I hope.
Fornight,it's very difficult not to deviate when out. I told everyone what I was doing as it made it much easier in the long run. A little bit embarassing at first, but after everyone saw the weight start to fall off, they were all so encouraging.
Still no weight loss today. This is the problem with weighing every day. You start to feel it if you have a few slow weeks. I am down 1kg so far this week, and still have 3 more days to weigh in, so there is a possibility of more weight loss. I'm just hoping that I am only going to lose 1kg every week or it'll take me forever to get back to my correct weight. Oh, by the way, I had a call from the school on Monday, and I have to go back for my 2nd interview on Friday. A bit scary as this interview is with the principal, 2 members of the school board, and the school accountant (who I met last week). I am really excited about this and soooooo hope I get the job.
Have a great day everyone.
Talk to you all soon.

Rjm

Wonderful news about the job interview. I really hope you get the position. Best of luck.
BTW I love a piece of steak pan fried, leave whole or slice then add lots of mushrooms (most of vegie allowance) and onion and mustard and mayonnaise pleanty of cracked pepper and a little water. Stir to make a bit of sauce to coat the vegies.Yummmmmmmmmmo.

Sitting in the 119's for six days...

it gets so frustrating when you think yep the weight is hammering along and then all of a sudden its like you hit a brick wall... i've been sitting on 119. something for the last 6 days... willing it to move... when it does i hope it fly's along...

Hope everyone it all doing good i'm at work so dont have the time to individually post maybe tomorrow...

Hold your heads up high!!!

Off and on the wagon

Good morning Cohenettes

Just having a quick sneak peak through and everyone is doing so well. I have been flat out busy for the past two weeks, and have been on and off the Cohens wagon (and it has showed in the scales and my sleep quality!!!!). Between work functions, school functions, social functions and life is too busy, I have fallen off and gotten back on. As of monday though... I have started back on again.

Sorry I can't reply to all, but I will read more thoroughly when I have some more time.

To everyone - you are all inspirational and I find you all so fantastic!!!!

Keep up the good work and have an ace day.

Cheers, Tania

patience is a virtue

Hi everyone,

Well I have been reading your posts with great inspiration at your trials and tribulations and how you suport each other and overcome difficult feeling and situations. I myself am very low today:( . It is my birthday next week and i was hoping that i would have been on Cohens for at leasts 3 - 4 weeks but with the melbourne closures and having to start again at another centre it has taken so long to sort out paper work. I am still waiting for my program even though it was sent last thurday from Geelong (they are re doing it). I have been so big for so long i feel that it is never going to happen.

Mumbine :) i know what you mean about feel sad about losing the weight.
You also wrote
MELBOURNITES: Does anyone know if there are any Cohen support groups still running close to melbourne? would be great if there was. I was always intending on getting there before the clinics closed.

I don't know of any but I'm in Melbourne and would love to meet for a cuppa ~ let me know if you or anyone else would like to do this. I'm am feeling very alone and sick of waiting patiently:( :( :(

Hey everyone,

Wow, there's so many posts to read! Everyone seems to be going so well, keep up the good work

For those who are beating themselves up for deviating, dont worry!! We all do it at some point and all you have to do is ask yourself "What will i get out of eating this Cookie/cake/biscuit etc?" It might make you think a bit and hopefully not eat it!!!

If you are deviating out of boredom, make sure u keep yourself active and busy so you dont have the time to think about eating non cohen's food!

Hope everyone is doing ok, still finding that I am very constipated, even though I am drinking metamucil 3 times a day and taking laxatives!!!

O well, keep on keeping on!

Katie

First succesful Cohens Day !

:) :) :)

I'm doing really well! Yaaay. Hope this keeps up. I had a great day yesterday and didn't get my binge cravings like the night before. I really think it is about overcoming our mental habits. I know it won't be the last one but for now it's all good and i'm feeling really on top of it. The scrummy meals are really helping. I made some fantastic 'thai chicken meatballs' last night and served them on Bok Choy. Mmmmm. that will be one of my regulars i think. Also one i can cook for the whole family.

'THAI CHICKEN MEATBALLS'

Breast Chicken Mince, 1 mint leaf, 1 sprig chives, garlic powder, ginger powder, dash balsamic vinegar, pinch of lemon rind, 1tbs onion & one crumbed paradise light biscuit. Blend together. Voila! I also used my mayo allowance with a tiny bit of water & ginger powder for a sauce. Really delicious. I didn't feel deprived at all....I feel very inspired with my concoctions....;)

L-JAY I'm really enjoying the cooking side of things. Maybe to get your cooking urge out there you could prepare a whole weeks worth of food & try a few new recipes? I'd love to hear what you might come up with.

NETSKI Good luck with your house sitting. I'll look forward to seeing your progress when you return. It must be so exciting being so close to refeed. I'm really looking forward to that. Having lost the weight you have, you must be feeling so much better. We all have to remember that as we go, we will continue to feel better about ourselves, our clothes will feel better, it's not all about that magic number!

Jasmine Well done on your first week. I'll be watching your posts avidly to see how you're coping cause i'm just behind you in the whole process, it's my third day today and i'm only just beginning to get into the swing of things. Good luck for your next cohens week. Also, must be so satisfying to be double numbers! I can't wait for that.

LizziRemember that we lose fat in cycles. I'm sure your scales will thank you soon. Good luck with your goal date. (my birthday). I'm hoping i'll be smaller by then too...

RJM Hope your scales show you some movement soon, it's really hard to keep motivated when that's not happening. But as with Lizzi, the fat loss cycle may be approaching. Your posts are so encouraging and you have come so far. I hope you really appreciate where you have been in the past cause it is truly inspirational. Good luck with your second interview, that's a great sign! I'll sincerely remember it in my prayers. Hope you feel better about it all soon. I'll try to keep posting so you can catch the excited bug. MagicLea did that for me!

Tasm82 Seems like a few people aren't having the rapid thing happening at the moment. Just remember Biggest Loser and how they would plateau and then lose a bigger number the following couple of weeks. You've got that to look forward to. It must be really encouraging to now be in the 'teens', i know i was encouraged by that.

Jewls I'm sorry you're feeling a bit low at the moment. But you've definitely come to the right place. You should feel really proud of yourself for making the commitment to start something for yourself. You are going to do this thing and try to enjoy the time before you get your program & psyche yourself up for what's ahead, expect great things. Everyone on this forum has showed that it's really possible to lose the weight. If it's any help, you've got some yummy meals to look forward to! It's not quite as bad as i expected it to be, especially cause there's cheese involved. Would definitely love to catch up for a 'black tea', maybe after the holidays, i'm flat chat with my kids at the moment. ANY OTHER MELBOURNITES WOULD BE WELCOME, MAYBE WE COULD START OUR OWN SUPPORT GROUP??? MONTHLY. SEE ALL OUR FANTASTIC PROGRESS, SWAP RECIPES...BLAH BLAH BLAH???

Wow, what a marathon. I really felt like I owed that to the forum. It can be a bit hard to reply to so many but there you go. I've gained so much and felt I needed to give back.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE....MY TICKER HAS MOVED I JUST COULDN'T RESIST!:D

I lost my temper this morning.... feeeeling so bad. :(

Reload72: Sounds like you may have quite a few ups and downs. Remember that this program will correct your serotonin levels which affect your moods. This is one of the perks of the program for me as i suffer from depression and am on medication for it. If it feels like your temper may rule your life a bit, might be worth going to see your doctor about it. Don't know if St Johns Wort is allowable on the program but that can also help to balance out your moods. Maybe see your chemist if the doctor seems like a radical solution.

Hope you feel better soon, thanks also for your encouragement on my slip up. Much better now and i know that this forum really helps. :)

Reload72, I take a stress formula by Herron. It is available in Woolworths for about $15.00, and contains 500mg Lemon Balm, 750mg Passionflower and 500mg Valerian. My consultant checked with Dr Cohen when I started and it is fine to take while on the program and it really helps to take the edge off those feelings of anger and agitation.
the old me , I was just thinking that maybe I need a nice piece of steak for dinner with heaps of mushrooms. You must be a mind reader!! That recipe sounds delicious.
Tasm82,it's so annoying when the scales decide that they're not going to move for a little, but hopefully you'll have a really good loss soon.
tania, well done getting back on track. Good Luck.
Jewls, I can't believe that you haven't got your program yet. That is really slack on Cohens part. Keep your spirits up and hopefully it will arrive soon, and keep hassling them. Ring every day if you have to.
pinky8484, do you drink plenty of water? I have been really lucky and don't have any problem with constipation. Prior to starting on Cohen's I had IBS, so it is really nice to only go once every couple of days instead of 5 or 6 times a day!!
mumbine, good to hear you're going so well, and great to see that ticker moving. Thanks for your kind words, and your prayers will be most appreciated on Friday. I'll be so nervous. It is my children's school so I know most of the people that will be in the interview, but I think because I really want the job I'm getting more nervous than I usually would, and I think they might go into some spiritual and theological type questions to test my faith as they only employ Christians. Not a problem, but I'm not good at talking to others about my faith, and when I get really nervous I often start to cry....how embarassing would it be if that happened!
Sorry I'm waffling again.
Have a great afternoon, ladies.
Talk to you soon

Happy Wednesday to you all

Hello to you all

I hope you are all having a truly wonderful day!

Thankyou all for the delicious recipes, I love to find various ways to cook our mere morsels of food, at the start of the program I thought I was going to drown in stir-frys for the next year ... while they are wonderful they certainly lose their shine after a while. Maybe we could all put out a Cohen's recipe book .... we could have one person design a recipe and then we could all try it the following night and rate it... we could include little handy hints about vegie substitutions and the like. I know for sure that if there was such a book out there I would gladly buy it. Something tells me Dr Cohen wouldnt look too fondly of us cashing in on his program but it makes for interesting thinking.

Last night I made myself a super nice curry. All I did was blend my minced beef with a paste made from curry powder, a little tarragon and my one teaspoon of mayo. Even though it is only a molecule of mayo it really adds a wonderful moisture to the dish. Anyway, I cooked that and served it on a bed of lettuce (lots of it cuz its light) ... celery and cucumber. Through that I stired my two broken up cracker biscuits. It actually made quite a big meal and the spice of the curry combined with the crunch of the crackers and salad was awesome!!!! Delish!!! Also, I stumbled across something yesterday, I always buy the Paradise Light cracked pepper biscuits because they have some bite to them but yesterday my local store didn't have any left so I was reduced to buying the wholemeal ones... I figured they would be real cardboardy but no, they are scrumptious!!! They taste like they have cheese in them, even though they don't and in fact I almost feel decadent eating them because they are so super delicious.

To everyone out there who is struggling with staying focussed dont feel bad... it is pretty natural to let your tastebuds tingle at the idea of different foods, afterall thats what they are designed for. I too find it hard sometimes to think that one small delicious meatball and gravy wont be too detrimental. Luckily I seem to be able to talk myself out of it but it is not easy. I have a pact with my kids that I cook them super healthy but reasonably boring food during the week and then on Friday nights they can have whatever they want as a treat and reward for their support.... it works really well and they spend most of the week planning what their super special meal will be and I have to do it like that because if I was still cooking roasts, meatballs, lasagnes etc I simply wouldnt be able to stay on the wagon. They are super kids, they are happy to have steak and veg or fish and veg... and they share in my excitement when I notice it on the scales....

Which brings me nicely to my SUPER news!!!!

*pointing to my ticker*

I have had another 3kg loss!!! Its unbelievable!!! That is a total of 15kg down in a little over three weeks. I am so excited.... *doing a dance* I feel great and I am really looking forward to summer because I KNOW I am going to be able to go swimming with my girls and not making excuses as to why I cant take them to the beach or pool... what a wonderful life I have ahead of me!!! .... what a wonderful life we ALL have ahead of us!!!

Its amazing but ya know, I feel closer to all of you in here sometimes than I do to some of the people in my life who I can actually reach out and touch. We share a special relationship that means so much to me and for that I thank you - it is the thought of all of you guys in here staring me down when I consider stopping in at the bakery that keeps me honest!!!
L-Jay, what a wonderful idea about the days without deviation, I am going to do that .... nothing like a bit of accountability to add extra motivation!!!

*hugs* to you all... and big pats on the back too!!! You are all very, VERY special people!!!

Leanne

Wow!

MagicLea: That's amazing! & so very inspirational....I'm smiling now just thinking about how excited you must be. You really must be feeling it in your clothes. I'm glad you found the wholemeal Paradise Lights. They make FANTASTIC bread crumbs if you put them in a blender. Has anyone heard of the 'bullet' or 'power chopper'? I had one and it's going to be priceless on this Cohens journey.

RJM: You're a christian and you can be confident that you will be given the words to speak. He gives us peace and courage. You'll be great. Just say a little prayer before you go in. Good Luck.

Mmmm, think i might have crumbed veal parmigiana minus the cheese tonight! Yum....

Jasmine - Spirulina is not permitted on Cohen's program. Please check with your consultant before taking anything other than what is specifically listed in your program book. You may be losing weight well for the time being, but the spirulina will affect your results.
