Hi Nicole,

Sounds like your experiences have been pretty similar to mine for sure! The deciding factor for me to go ahead with the plan has definately been because of all the success storied I have read from women with PCOS.

I have just completed my first week on the program and have lost about 1kg I think. I am not expecting to lose weight fast as I noly have 10kg to lose and also losses are often a lot slower with PCOS. WOW sounds like you had a speedy loss! Good word! Fingers and toes crossed I have some results like that. :)

I was on Metformin for about a year and it saw me lose about 7kg, but then I randomly started gaining again...what the??! All it really does is 'mask' the fact that theres something wrong going on with your hormones - it certainly doesn't correct them like Cohen's is supposed to.

Good luck with your program i'll be keen to see how you get on - I really hope I have results like yours to brag about!!

xx

Thanks Niyah

i added the Mayo in later and also a squeeze of Lemon not too much

Glad you worked out the ticker thing - it is a bit confusing!

I've been right off tuna this time around, however I do prefer it cooked, so maybe that's the secret - having a recipe like yours for when I don't have other fresh meat ready.

Hey Hayley23

That's fantastic your on Cohen's now:)

My consultant says to only weigh yourself once a month as you go through plateus and this can be very discouraging. You never know after a month you might have lost all your weight or only have a few kg's to go!

It must be great to only have to loose 10kgs! You go girl! All the best for your journey I have been on my program for 2 weeks on the 16th march so it looks like were starting at about the same time! It's so encouraging to be able to talk to other people on the program!

By the way as I only weigh myself every month I cant update my ticker :-( But I have taken my measurements and in one week I lost 14.5cm!!! I was stoked!

I cant wait till the first month is up and I know my progress(in kg's)- it's so motivating.

By the way: I had the same thing happen to me on the Metformin too- I lost about 5kgs to begin with and then eventually put it on and more:-S

I think a permenant solution is the best way to go

Take care

xxnicole

Hey Nicole,

I have been on Cohen's for 2 weeks now! So far I've lost a couple of kilos so thats all good - can't complain. I am going to try and hold off weighing my self so frequently, especially at the moment as its TOM. But I have to admit, for the past 2 weeks the scale has been motivating - for the first time haha!

I feel like my taste buds are really getting accustomed to natural whole foods again, which is great. All my bloating has gone and I never have that 'uncomfortably full' feeling I used to have even after eating only a small amount of food.

Yes your right I am grateful that I found out about Cohen's now and not any later as I know my weight would have only increased. I have about 9kg to lose now but in saying that, I think it will be long haul which usually happens when there isnt a great abundance of weight to be lost (although it does feel that way for me!).

Congrats on your loss in cms! Thats fantastic you must be so pleased and i'm sure you must be noticing it in your clothes?

Are you exercising on the plan? I know of PCOSer's who have and also some that havent. My first week I felt a little tired but now I seem to have adjusted to the new way of eating a little and find i'm not even hungry! I usually exercise quite a bit and feel guilty for keeping it to a minimum the past 2 weeks but I guess thats just my mind set.

Coincidence about the Metformin huh? I remember being SOOO pleased that i'd lost some weight on it - what a joke!!? All it does is cover the problem and like you say, a permanent solution is far better - especially if it fixes the underlying problems.

Keep in touch and let me know how your doing. I also use another forum solely devoted to Cohen's followers, its called the "New You Forum".

Hey Hayley23

Congratulations on meeting the 2 week mark! I think that everything starts to become more automatic after then.

Yay I lost another 6.5 cm, so all together in 2 weeks I have lose 20.5cm! I am rather happy with that! Only 1.5 weeks to go till I get to weigh-in and then I can update my ticker! I can already see the difference in myself! My husband thinks I look cute cause my face has thinned out again! I cant wait to wear all those gorgeous winter clothes when I get to my goal!

I am going to move to London in 4.5 weeks now so I am getting really excited! We got our UK visas through today so I know for sure that they will let us into the country :)

Do you work? If so what do you do? I am a Graphic Designer, hence the ability to use this forum in working hours...tisk, tisk, tisk- I know is naughty!

I am really doing so much better on the program this time! I normally crave my usual Flat White and something sweet but the fruit is very satisfying and I dont have any cravings- it's so releaving! I have even given up coffee all together and I sleep SO much better!

I am also a member on the New You Forum but there doesn't seem to be many people on there so I decided to come to this one.

All the best for the weeks ahead on your cohen's journey! Please keep me informed to- I would love to know how your going

xxnicole

Hey Nicole,

Wow your doing amazingly well! :hurray: Thats fantastic that you are seeing results thick and fast. Wow London? I have always wanted to go there its such a central place and is close to all the other great places around Europe that I just HAVE to go to! Good luck with the plane food though hehe.

I am on day 18 of the program as of today and have lost about 2.7kg. It has been TOM this week and I didn't weight myself at all as it is almost impossible to get a true reading anyway with fluid and hormones being all over the place. I have only lost a couple of hundred grams this week?! I really hope its just due to TOM though - is this a normal occurance?

Currently I am not working, which is really doing my head in, as I actually had a plane ticket booked to move back to Melbourne on the 12th March. THEN I found out about Cohen's and how the first clinic had just opened in New Zealand. I thought it would be a lot easier to do it from home then trying to juggle an entire new way of eating when I have also moved to a different country! Unfortunately I had already left my receptionist job prior to all this. I am on the hunt for work as it I can't stand not working, and also not being able to exercise means I feel like a lazy pig hehe. :piggy:

Thats so great that your doing better and feeling better second time around. I strongly believe that sometimes its a matter of waiting until we are 'ready' to commit to something like this. To be honest I am surprised I have stuck to the program so well as I am the queen of starting things I never finish! I really have forgotten what it's like to be under 60kg and still have trouble believing that it will happen. I am paranoid that because I do not have a lot of weight left to lose that it will stop before I am ready for it to haha.

Keep in touch and please let me know how everything is going!!

Tata for now. :waving:

Nicole-Hi & exciting news about the move to London. It would be nice for us if you started a diary thread & keep us posted on how you're going, the move, the differences in food etc. We don't have anyone who posts in here who is based in the UK. It sounds like you are in the "Cohen's zone" and have that wonderful feel-good feeling that healthy eating gives us. All the best with your journey(in more ways than 1!). Cheers, Cate.
Hayley- Hi! I know how you're feeling about not working. Would you have a job to go to in Melbourne if you went there soon? Cohen's food is readily available in Melb & shouldn't be a problem. I think you are right when you say that you must have started the program when you were well & truly ready to as I do think it makes a lot of difference. You need to be positive & determined & you sound both. You will use the same positive attitude to get a job I think if you set your mind to it. Cheers, Cate.
Now I need to apply the same logic to myself. LOL!

Thanks Cate!

I imagine there would probably be even more Cohen's-friendly foods available in Melbourne then there are in my little town!! I just felt that I would be putting pressure of myself trying to focus on Cohen's while attempting to move back to Australia and have to change every other aspect of my life also! I feel I have made the right decision. At the moment I am living back with mum and dad so i've got everything here: kitchen scales, bathroom scales, all cooking utilities/utensils etc. Trust me, theres no guaruntee of any of that when you move into a flat hehe! Besides, it would be a dream for me to move back to Melbourne slim, confident and in control of my damn PCOS - I really hope this dream comes true!! :nopity:

Hey Hayley and Cate

Ahhhh I hate TOM!!! Yes it is very, very normal (especially for me) to put on 1-2 Kgs of fluid at that time. So dont stress- I normally dont even weigh myself if it’s TOM when I am suppose to as this can be very discouraging! So wait a week and then weigh again- I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised!

I also agree that you need to be in the right state of mind to be on cohen’s as it can be very challenging especially when you want to go out with friends. Now that I can only drink De-caff DC I find I have to bring my drink from home otherwise I have to go without which is sad! lol.

I think you also have made the right decision staying at home until you are confident enough to travel to melbourne and be on cohen’s (or to have finished it). It is hard to make 100 changes all at once so when you are in a familiar environment it can be a huge saviour helping you with stability. I know going to London is going to knock me around for a week until I can get my own place and sort out the foods I can eat. Apparently they also have cohen’s in London but I dont know what crackers, yoghurt, vitamins etc that I can eat so my consultant here in Perth is going to see if she can ask them (very nicely).

I would like to start a diary I have just been so busy with work, getting visas, packing and moving house that I dont have too much time to post at the moment (hence the late reply) and I dont have the internet at home- but I am sure I will when I get to London.

I also found that the first time I did cohens and got down to the last 5 kgs that they were the most painful ones to loose as the weightloss seems to slow down towards the end :-(

I am nearly at the 4 week mark (this coming Monday) so YAY I can update my ticker and have my blood test. I hope to loose about 15kgs but I wont hold my breath! lol

I lost another 5cm in measurements this week so all up over 3 weeks I have lost a total of 25.5cm!!! It seems to have slowed down a little but I think it is just the stage my body is going through whilst adjusting!

Thanks for your updates and it’s lovely to hear from you both Cate and Hayley.

Best of luck with getting a job!!!

Take care and all the best for the journey ahead

xxnicole

Hi All

Just for a quick update I have lost 11kgs in the first 4 weeks. Have to say I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for 20kgs in my heart of hearts :-( (This is because I used my old program a year ago and lost that much).

Never mind I guess I should be greatful I have lost something. I somehow thought that by getting a new program done it would help me loose the weight faster. Ow well I guess I must keep plodding along.

How much weight have people lost in their first month on the program? Please post I would love to know to get an average.

xxnicole

11kg is a really good loss, Nicky Chick. I lost about 8kg in the first four weeks this time around. Depends what weight you started off at last time, but don't compare yourself to then, just plod on now knowing that's 11kg gone forever!

If you are doing all the right things, then just trust your body to get rid of the weight. It will work!

Hi Nicole,

I am about to make you feel a lot better:

Tomorrow is the one month mark for me and I have lost just over 4kg. Whether this is due to the fact I have PCOS and that I only had 11kg to lose - I don't know?!!

I am still happy as I could not lose ANYTHING before starting this program and Cohen's has allowed me progress without being on Metformin. I do know of other people that have had 10-12kg to lose in total and have done so in 5 weeks, however, this is not to be for me and I wasnt expecting so.

I think you should be rapped with your loss and be giving yourself props! Our bodies are ever-changing and there could be various reasons as to why the weight has been slightly more stubborn this time - perhaps you don't have as much to lose this time around?? Do you mind me asking how much weight your wanting to lose in total?

It can be a little disheartening to see other's and their super speedy losses but when you think of 95% of other weight loss plans out there eg. weight watchers, it makes both our losses look pretty good for one month!!

Keep strong and keep in touch.

Hayley.

xx

Hey Hayley and Niyah

Thanks so much for your motivating words.

Last time I started the program at 120kgs and lost 20kgs in the first month, this time I started at 114 and have lost 11kgs. It is annoying but I agree my body must just want to loose it at that rate as I have had no deviations! I have another 34kgs to loose but because I am really tall it isn't as noticable as some. Once I loose another 14 kgs everyone will be saying you dont need to loose any more weight bla bla bla- they even gave me a complex and told me I was vain!! I hate those people they are out to sabbotage us all.

I went to my Dads house on Sunday and he is a HUGE eater. We had a BBQ with far too much food for 8 people and I brought my cohen's food with and made it there. I couldn't eat with them (at 5.30pm) due to the 5 hour wait and they were all SO offended my Dad even said "Your not going to be a D****head are you?"

It is a battle just staying strong to combat the pressure of everyone trying to feed me. I have read Dr Phils book (The Ultimate Weight-loss Solution) and he said that these people are trying to keep you down and stop you from becoming the best you can be as it shows them that you have courage and discipline which they lack so they try to coax you out of what your doing.
I think that, that's a handy thing to remember when your with people as they all seem to feel it's their place to feed you.

Never mind I am staying Super Strong!!! The only thing that is going to mess me up is the Airoplane food, but I have spoken to my consultant about it and she said that I should be okay as long as I keep going once I get to London!

Best wishes to you all for your journey and stay strong- the results are WELL worth it!!

I am off to eat my pizza for lunch ha ha ha (crackers with melted mozzarella, tomato, mushroom and capsicum)! YUM

xxxnicole

I remember when I first did the program Hayley the last 5-10kgs are hell to loose it takes SO LONG!!! Your doing fantastic though and seeming as though you only have 6kgs to loose! WOW!!!!

Hi Nicole. Is this the third time you have done Cohen's? I was gob-smacked to read that you had lost 20kg in the first month on the program another time. I had thought 13kgs was pretty good & your 11kgs this time was great. I had lost 10kgs in my first month when I did the program 2 years ago & was happy with that. I think the more we have to lose then the more we lose first month. It's such a shame about your family not showing you support for what is such a positive thing for you to do. I hope you have a lovely new life in England & that you become slim, healthy & happy. Try to ignore the knockers in this world. You are doing well with the program. Remember to drink lots of water on the plane & steer clear of caffeine & salty foods. Sorry for sounding like a nag there! Cheers Cate.
Hayley- It's great seeing you so positive, happy & supportive, despite your weight-loss for the first month being "only" 4kgs. I admire your attitude. A loss is a loss. I am so grateful I found out about Cohen's. Every kg lost is one I won't see again. I can picture that 36kg of fat & know that it's gone forever. As the Toyota ad goes "Oh, What a feeling!" Cheers, Cate.

The diet

Well, I am new to this forum and don't quite really know how to use it yet. I started Cohen's on March 11 at 204lbs(93kilos). It is week 3 and I have found out I am pregnant, and then miscarried a week later. I only deviated two days but have still managed to lose 17 lbs (7.7 kilos). This has been difficult, but eventhough I lost the baby, I am glad to continue on the program and for the first time in my life I feel like I can really do this. I am so glad to get to read all of your comments and see people doing the same as me- it is so encouraging!:waving:

clilbz- I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. How strong you must be to continue on with the program. It's an excellent decision as it will benefit your health & well-being. The Cohen's program was originally designed to help balance hormones & therefore to help with fertility. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to hearing more from you. Start a new thread if you wish & name it something that we will know is your diary and it will be your own place where you can share your ups & downs. If you're not ready for that yet, stay in here & we will keep an eye out. Cheers, Cate.

Nicole - Both your losses in your first months are amazing - especially given you have PCOS. Its a shame that sometimes our mood depends on what the scale has said that morning - I'm definately guilty of this! I have to admit I am somewhat relieved that you tell me it takes a while to lose the last kilos, its good knowing its not just me. Sometimes I guess I just needsomer reassurance. I guess it will be a long slog for me to lose the 6.5kg I have left but as long as that scale continues downward and not upward, i'm not too worried about the speed. I am a bit surprised that people in your life would almost try to 'sabotage' your journey. This really grinds my gears as my family and friends have been very supportive. I don't doubt for a second that you will get to your goal, but support is very important for a lot of people - and that goes for not just weight loss but anything we strive to acheive in our lives. My advice would be to tell these saboteurs, in no uncertain terms, "My health, wellbeing and happiness should mean more to you then polishing off that plate of food!" The people you surround yourself with should care enough to support your ventures and be happy that you are doing something so positive. Cohen's is not for the faint-hearted and takes a lot of motivation and discipline. It is likely that people who have anything but encouragement to give you could and would not endeavour to do what your doing. Glad that your keeping strong ;)
xx

Cate - Thanks for your kind words. I have good days and not so good days and often wonder what it would be like to see these infamous 1kg losses in a day that so many cohenites speak of. However, I know thats not really logical given I only have (had) 11kg in total to lose. Your exactly right - every loss is just that - a LOSS. Couldn't have put it better myself and congrats on your milestone so far! :hurray:
xx

Thanks Cate and Hayley for your lovely encouraging words :) It means a lot to me as most of my family aren't that positive about it! When we get to London I plan to keep going and finish the program with the support of my husband. I cant wait to come back to Australia and say "ha ha ha see I did it"! Hayley you should get a ticker, I know that it is very motivational looking at the progress of where you started and how far you've come (if you want one just click on mine and create a new one).

So wonderful to hear from you all! I have been in touch with Chelle and she is back on the wagon again and will be in here soon

Hope you both are well and taking good care of yourselfs I know my new motto will be to "Show myself more love and compassion" as that's why I have gotten as big as I was!

xxnicole
