Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
OK, so today is day #3 and so far it's not bad at all. For the most part I am not too hungry through out the day but I do look forward to my meals. I do get hungry at bed time so I am going to have to work through that. I have to maintain a very positive attitude and keep telling myself that for me "Nothing taste as good as thin feels."
I hope everybody is doing well on their Cohen's journey.

Hello,
My name is Nik and I've been reading your threads for the past week or so whilst waiting for administrators to let me in....well I'm here now! My story is that I started Dr Cohen's program in Feb 07, went great guns for 16 weeks, losts 27kg only 8kg till goal weight and I fell of the wagon....well a 2 week Bali holiday, lots of naughty snacking (just like the old days) and I've put on 3kg......coulda been far worse I suppose.
Things have been getting back on track for two weeks though 2 major headaches have hindered my progress, seem to seek comfort food everytime I feel unwell.
It's a hard road once you've fallen off the wagon, my advice to anyone who is considering starting or has started....what ever you do, don't deviate till it's done. It's very easy to get comfortable with the new lighter you, even if your not at your goal you will feel like a new person, so remember don't DEVIATE!

Thanks to everyone for your personal stories, especially those who are in a similar position to myself.

Cheers :)
Nik

I got really hungery at night at first too. It lasted about 10 days, then i was no longer hungry and in fact had dificulty eating all my fruit and crackers if i hadn't eaten them before dinner- i just wasn't hungry.

best of luck

leila

Yes Leila the scale said 5 pounds less. Hooray!!! I swore I was not going to weigh in until a week went past but the curiosity just got to me:). I spoke with another friend in my town who has been doing this diet and she has lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks. Hearing all of this good stuff from you & all the other fellow Cohen friends makes me very motivated. :jump: Thank you all. I have a long road ahead of me but I am willimg to do this.
By the way, my name is Susan. Tori is my 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog. Her nickname is Torigirl.

Hi every-one! Hope the weather is warming up where you are. It's freezing in Tassie still. It feels more like winter now than it did in the middle of winter. My body keeps telling me I need "comfort" food but I want to be eating salads! Help- come on Summer! Hope all are staying focussed & becoming healthier & slimmer. Cheers to all, Cate

Hi Cate,
Here in New York the weather is just starting to get chilly. We have a long winter ahead of us. I like the change in season but dont like how we lose our daylight around 5:00 pm.

Torigirl- NY City is the most exciting place I am ever likely to see in my life! I have only spent 1 day out of my 54 years in NYC (had lunch at Po's(?) in Greenwich Village & did the quick guided tour for the rest of the day with my beloved B-I-L) but I will remember it forever. WOW!! I, too, love the seasons but am so glad we don't get those face-freezing winters. I spent part of a winter in Baltimore & couldn't believe how cold it was. I will stop complaining about the weather right now I promise! Sheepish:)o) cheers, Cate. P.S. I must go back one day with my LH as it is a special place that he has not been to but I have. I have a nephew in California(& his wife, a great nephew & GN)

Hi Cate,
NYC sure is an exciting place! We live an hour North of the city where it is much quieter with lots of trees, farms & open land. The big city is far enough away yet close enough for a quick trip. I face quite the chalenge on Nov 29th, I am going into the city to see the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall and it will be a long day. I am going to have breakfast at home before I leave but lunch will have to be had in the city. This is going to be tough. I am thinking maybe I will get a salad and order a piece of grilled chicken. I would have to kind of make a good guess at how much I should eat (the appropriate amount of grams of each). Do you have any ideas or suggestions for me? There is just no way I can bring any food with me & be able to eat it. I am going with a group of friends and family & if I try to eat my own food in the restaurant they go to for sure I will be tossed out:rotflmao:

Torigirl, I used to take a little container of balsamic vinegar & have either a grilled steak or chicken breast & ask for a plain salad, without any dressing & use my own. Even if I ate more than I should I made sure that it was still technically Cohen's allowed foods & in the rough balance between protein & vegetables. Don't worry too much if one meal is not exact. It would only be if you eat something way off the plan that it will set you back. Intentional deviations I think make it harder to stay motivated, rather than the occasional impossible to avoid social situations where we can just do our best to stick as close as possible to the plan.
I found it truly amazing on our drive to NY how we were driving along past beautiful trees, spotting those great big birds (whose name escapes me for the minute!) & then the city just appears on the skyline. It is truly spectacular. I'm still in awe.
Cheers for now, Cate.
P.S. edit-Bald Eagles?

Hi Torigirl,

Cate is exactly right. Just try and eat the Cohen allowed foods. That's what I'm trying at least ! It seems to be working anyway.

Well I have completed 1 month ! WOOHOO I honestly never thought I'd have to go through this again but I glad I am because I know how well this program works. In 4 weeks I have lost 10.6kg so I am pretty happy. I just hope it doesn't slow down too much in the coming months :(

Good luck guys. You're all doing a wonderful job !:D

Congratulations Kim,
That is a nice amount of weight to lose in one month:).
I am just starting my 3rd week with the program and I am happy with the results also. This is a bad week for me being that I am having those lovely cravings us ladies get once a month. I am staying strong though!
Keep up the good work Kim.

Hi and welcome to all the Newbies.

Kim well done on losing 10kg+. Don't be disappointed if you don't achieve this next month it slows down slightly but you will still see good loss's compared to many other weight loss programs. Can't wait to see how everyone goes. Goodluck and wishes to all.

Sam

Where has everyone gone?

My goodness this forum is quiet at the moment.
Is there a secret Cohens get together going on or something.

Where have you all gone?

Hello everyone,
It has been a very busy week around here. I have not weighed in yet this week because last week the scale didn't seem to move at all. So I planned to stay away for fear of dissapointment. A bit depressing since I followed the program to a T. Hopefully this week will be better. Maybe it was a water retention week or something!
I dont think the plan is boring it just teaches you how to eat properly and to eat to live not live to eat. I am satisfied during the day, the night time is when I crave something sweet. I have been making myself a baked apple from the Cohen recipe book which works pretty well to cure the sweet tooth. Has anybody ever tried that recipe?
I hope everyone is doing well, better run and get going around here, lots to do today. Have a good day everyone.:)

Hi folks- I'm back. There was a "not-so-secret" Cohen's get together in Melbourne. It was lovely! Cohen's is not boring. The only limit is your imagination. I have loved it. There is nothing boring about fresh fruit, vegetables & lean meat & fish, herbs, spices, good health, energy & becoming slim! I prefer this forum to the other & love my personal connections & new-found friendships. Cheers for now, Cate.

Your so right Cate!!!! this is the way we should be eating and only having treats once in a while. In todays society its treats everyday.

I got the shock of my life on the weekend I won't mention the suburb but it's in Brissie heading south towards the Gold Coast........well my hubby and I stopped at a major shopping centre to shop and then we sat down and had lunch and I was amazed at the amount of over weight people!!!!!!!......obese children and adults of many races and colours....FAT does not discrminate.

I was totally put off my lunch which by the way was healthy and I only drank water, the majority were eating pizza, kfc, chinese you name it. It is very sad to see how indulgent we are in the western world.

So everyone please keep up the motivation, the health implications are devasting when over weight......you can actually see the stress on people's faces and also what sought of role models are we making to our children.

Take care all

Sam

There is another world to be discovered when you become slim. After 54 years I am now a bush-walker & am loving it. I can dance & not be self-conscious. I can play on the floor with my grand-kids & get up! I don't feel self-conscious any more about my body. I think I will go swimming this summer in the sea, in public(!!). Life is so much better! Stay motivated folks. It's all worth it! Cheers to all, Cate
