Thanks Leila and Cate! Doing my countdown now - shoppings all done so no excuses that I haven't got the right food in. Not looking forward to resetting my ticker back to where I am - but I am looking forward to seeing it move.

Hey guys,

Thought I should probably introduce myself :) Last February I did Cohens for 2 months and lost 20kg (I was a regular on this forum). After this, I was involved in a car accident and spent many weeks in bed. Unfortunately then I stopped Cohens and since gained back all of the weight ... plus more :( I recently lost about 7kg through hard work at the gym and decided to give Cohens another go. I started last Monday and have lost 5kg so far. Hopefully I can stick to it this time :(

I am a little curious though. I know vinegar is allowed, however it doesn't specify how much per day. If anyone has any idea what the maximum amount is, I would really appreciate it :)

Hi cate. No not breast feeding. Just as well as DS has started eating about 1200 mls a day at only 4 months (thats over 200mls at each feed). He'd be on there all day if I did at that volume. Blown me away as my DD ate at most 900mls a day, and that was when she was 6 months.

cheers leila

Wow folks. Once again we have a busy little forum. It's great to see such positive action! Cheers, Cate.

Hi Kym_Jo

Welcome... and welcome to all the other newies and returnies...

My consultant never specified an amount for vinegar and I'm not a fan myself but occassionally add about 1tspn to mushrooms to make a mushroom sauce to go with steak etc. I think you would be safe to have 1tspn to 1tbspn every day without too many worries!

Good luck!

Hello To Everyone,
I just recently learned of the Cohen Lifestyle & real quick I had to find out how I to could start this journey. Yesterday I went to the lab to have my blood work drawn. Hopefully I will recieve my personal plan real soon. Cant wait to begin! I have a friend in my hometown area who I have not seen in quite a few months and boy has she shrunk in half.:D
Hope I can do as well as she has with this plan.

welcome Torigirl

You will shrink. If you do this program 100% and don't deviate, you will shrink. It may take a little longer than others, but you will definately get there. It is an amazing diet. Be prepared to have a few ups and downs at first, but once your in the 'groove' it will be easier.

best of luck and look forward to sharing this journey with you

regards

Hi everyone,

I have been reading the posts for the last few months and you are all such a great inspiration for each other so I was hoping you would be the same for me.

I was on this forum (and Cohens) at the beginning of 06 and had a really tough time health wise so I fell off the wagon and gained back the 10kg I had lost plus another 10kg. Now I've been back on Cohens for 10 weeks (I signed up again and ordered a new program) and I'm very disappointed so far. After dropping 7kg in the first 2 weeks my weight loss has slowed down to roughly 1kg per week and I don't think that's good enough for a "rapid" plan. I have stuck to the plan 100% and have asked my consultant and they have no answers for me. I'm now thinking that maybe this is not the right plan for me cause I am not even close to the average of 7-15kg per month (I'd be totally over the moon to lose 6kg a month)

What I was wanting to know is what everyone lost on average each week/month? Does anyone have any tips to help me speed up the weight loss, I'm tempted to start back at the gym but I'm scared I'll get hungry then fall off the wagon.

Anyway, I'm sorry that my first post is not a happy one but hopefully with your help and support I can turn my frown upside down.

Hi Blula

Well done on what you have lost so far. Don't despair. We all do it at different rates. I only lost 4.8Kg in my first 4 weeks, and at the end of week 5 have only lost 6kg in total.

Week 4 I only lost 0.4kg!

This really is a rapid loss plan because if you think about it there aren't too many diets where you would lose 1kg a week without doing any exercise on the long term.

I don't think the program promises 7-15 kg a month, only in the first month. And from what i have read from others everybody pretty much slowed down after the first month.

Is the reduction showing on your measurements? Do you feel much slimmer?

I know how you feel. You want it all to happen very quickly and get on with life within a couple of months but unfortunately sometimes your body just doesn't have the same plans as you!!!

I would definately advise seeing it through if you can as if you suddenly stop from what i have ready you just end up putting it back on.

There are a few things that affect your weight loss. Make sure your fruit is 'medium' sized (this one stuffed me up. I was eating huge apples and oranges for a couple of weeks!) Get plenty of sleep and watch the number of times you eat cheese.

Thats all the advice I can give, I know there are many who will have more advice to give.

Please just be patient, grit your teeth and you will get there, even if it takes a little longer.

best wishes

Blula- Hi & welcome back to the forum. Leila has given you good advice. Personally I think 7kgs in 2 weeks is quite amazing. You do not get this on any other program. 1kg a week is an excellent rate to lose weight. I think to succeed on Cohen's we should all take the advice of the good doctor. Exercise will make you very hungry. Since I finished & have started to exercise vigorously(for me anyway) I am ravenous. If that had happened while I was on the weight-loss part of the program I would never have succeeded.
I wish we all didn't expect miracles. Did any of us put all of the weight on overnight? I think not. Hopefully by losing it 1kg a week, or slower, we will learn the necessary skills to ensure that we never put it back on again. I hope so. I wish you all the best & every success with the program, cheers Cate.
PS. Leila- I love seeing you so positive. Good for you. Now if only your family would let you sleep!!:D

Hello,
Can anybody give me an idea of how long it took to get approved for the plan after they had their blood work done? I am anxious to get started.:jump:

Hi Tori,

I had my bloodtest on a Wednesday and paid the same day. The clinic then called me on Sataurday to pick up the plan. The last time I did Cohens, they mailed it out and it took around th same time.

Leila and Cate- Thank you for your
replies and welcoming me back.

My expectations of the "average" weight loss per month actually comes off the Cohens website (see FAQS), they say it themselves, they said it in the info session I went too so I feel really ripped off (I've paid for the program twice).

I had given myself what I thought as a realistic goal of 9 months to complete the program and I totally committed mentally to that and its still my goal to be finished by that time.

10 weeks in and I'm still wearing the exact same clothes that I was when I started, the bottoms are of course a bit baggier than when I began but I still can't fit into the next size down which is disheartening. The only area I've noticed any major difference is my bust.

I try to be as consistent with my fruit as possible and I'm eating at least 1 serve of mango a day sometimes 2 and seeing as I have to weigh the mango I'm not concerned that I'm eating over my allowance. I'm not a fan of cheese, it doesn't agree with my stomach (maybe that's the key, I should have cheese more often lol) and I'm also really good with my water intake.

I'm just hitting the wall at the moment, I'm going to persist for at least the next 4 weeks and if there are no major changes then I might have to look at alternatives. For what I'm giving up I don't feel like I'm getting enough of a reward. If I wanted to do it slowly over a year or so then I would have signed up with weight watchers and had a "treat" or a social life every now and then.

I guess I just expect too much of myself and of the program.

Please don't get me wrong, I don't mean to discourage anyone who is on the program or who is considering the program but I see the forum as a place where I can be open and honest about my journey (the bad and the good) with people who understand what the program is all about.

Hi Blula

sorry to hear that things are not going good for you on the diet.

Have you spoken to your consultant? Maybe there is something that you are doing that is just throwing you off a bit for some reason. They may be able to give you some pointers.

Are you getting enough sleep? THis is what is slowing me down as I have 2 kids under the age of 2 and very rarely (as in never!) get a stretch of sleep over 4 hours a night before someone wakes me up.

I did weight watchers last year after the birth of my first child, and although I lost a lot of weight at the start, it really did drop off, and I was lucky to lose 500g a week-and i was going to the gym 3-4 times a week. So for me I am happy to do it this way, as I am just too tired and busy to exercise now. Buts that's me.

Well I really hope you find a solution that works for you whatever that may be.

best wishes

Hi Kim,
I am in USA in NY and I have to communicate through the internet with Cohen's so it will take longer I just was curious as to how long. I plan to get busy and put the plan to work as soon as I recieve any information. I was hoping to be started on or about October 1st so let's hope I hear something real soon. :)

Getting back on Track

I have not been on the forum for a while due to moving house, no internet, work being crazy and a number of other life stresses (man issues!)
With all that everything was going fine until 19th Sept, during Week 12 of Cohens, 12 days ago. Since then I have had major urges, and succumb to eating loads of Greek Yoghurt, carbs and big portions, to the extent that I feel uncomfortably full. I'm not 100% sure what the trigger was but was alarmed how much my old eating patterns are still there.
I dont think I can go near the scales to find out what the damage is, and Im putting off the 12 week blood test too as surely it will be misleading. I have done well today and hoping Ive got back into the 'zone'.
Has anybody experienced the same or does anybody have any advice?

OK, I received my email from 1st Personal and I have all the info I need to get started. I went out this afternoon to purchase the food items I will need to begin. Wish me luck!

I hope the forum administrators have gotten rid of the pesky gremlin that infected the system yesterday. I will see if this posts to test it.
YES. YAY!! Thank you!

Hi everyone

Well it's so exciting to see so many new names popping up, some new new others oldies reconnecting! WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!!

Blula - Everyone is so different with their amounts. It really just depends on you. If you follow the program 100% you should be rewarded... At the end of the day you also need to weigh up if the losses you are having are still more than what would be expected or have been experience in the past on other programs. I know after the first month I was still expecting to lose 8-10kg a month and my have been consistenly around the 6kg per month but that's still more than what I ever lost per month on WW for example. Be vigilent and true to yourself and you will be fine!

Fat Suit Going - WELCOME BACK.... I would say you are starting to feel like me... apparently between 5-10kg away from your goal you start to get hungry and think about food more! On the weekend I had more sprite zero than I should have and the last couple of days have had an extra bit of fruit or cracker but am still at least managing to keep to Cohen allowed foods. But in saying that not allowed foods in the last few days have suddenly been appealing for me and I've not had that the whole way through! It's got to mean something! Stay strong, you're so close now.

Torigirl - Good luck... I'm sure you wont need it! You've taken the biggest step already. The first few days / week can be difficult but just stick with it and remember why you are here in the first choice. Remember that you are not doing this for any other reason than because you are CHOOSING to. Be precise and enjoy shedding!

I hope everyone else is good and keeping up the good work.

Lauren

Hi Lauren,
Thanks for the support. Ive been back on track for 3 whole days now! Ive booked in for an education session on Motivation at the weekend and I will weigh in then too. I also had my 12 week blood test too, at 13 weeks and 1 day oops! My slippery slope started with eating slightly more than the allowed portions but still only cohens foods....the rest is history! I have put on about 3-4 kgs in 12 days....hopefully I will have shifted some of that in the week before Saturday. I dont know whether it was the carbs or my bizarre menstural cycle but I have got soooooo much fluid retention at the moment it is unbearable, Im sure the carbs havent helped though! (Am I allowed to say that the orange and date damper bread did taste good? I just didnt need to eat enough for a small continent :drooling:
Well no point in beating myself up :boxing: Live and learn and remind myself Im human! And remember that this is my personal goal and not to let a very confused guy get me off track because I am worth more than that!!!!
Catch you all soon! Keep going everyone.
