Well I think everyone is doing a fantastic job! Something always comes along and always will to throw us out but we get back on track & move forward. That's what we are all doing. No point looking back, pointing the finger or beating ourselves up.
I think we all draw inspiration from one another. The forum & the support & kindness towards one another has given me the strength to keep on looking towards the future & it's going to be a much healthier one! Let's keep up the good work! Cheers, Cate.

Hey all!
Brrrrr isn't it cold in Melbourne! Yucko.....
always harder to walk etc.....but I look in here, get inspired by all your weight losses......and off I go! (plus there is a little furry face at the window...begging me to take him!)
LOVED that prawn recipe mmmmmmm will definitely give it a go on Saturday. I always try to make one "special" meal a week...sort of like a treat, but still following cohens.
Does anyone use herbamere? it's a salt substitute, with herbs added. I cant see any flour or anticaking agents listed....so it should be allowed Right? I've emailed Perth and Geelong...with no reply from the offices:mad: I guess since I was a member of Cheltenham, they aren't interested. Poo!
I'm experimenting with chillies and curry at present...I find I get to a boring stage, where I get fedup with stirfrys etc unless they pack a punch! The MOTH (Man of the house) reckons I'm stinking the place out!!!

Best wishes all......fiinish the week with an energetic burst of light eating, and healthy exercise!!
My daughters and I are keeping our hands busy in the evenings (no snack eating) knitting for a charity, sending warm clothes overseas....Not sure how good the knitting is....but it keeps my hands away from my mouth!:jump:

Sue, I'll email my consultant in Hobart after the weekend & ask her about the Herbamere. She usually replies promptly so will let you know. I find if I use too many spices, especially curry powder I get too thirsty. A lot of curry powders have fillers in them as well apparently.
I'm off to freezing Melb. tomorrow. I hope it's not as cold as you say! I've lost my inbuilt thermal underwear! xo Cate

Hi all,

I never got a chance to have my four week blood work because I went out of town and the local lab has restrictive hours. Do you think having it down the beginning of next week will make much of a difference? Did anyone else have this problem?
I hope all is well, stay warm!

BabyJo

Hey Im from Singapore and have started the program 2 weeks ago. First week was tough.......btw, Im feeling more hungry than usual, thking might be PMS issue. So how to curb this hunger? Wat should I do if i really feel very hungry?

Ive make some mistake when doing this program. Firstly, I tot that we can just squeeze (nt whole) a little lemon juice in the food and still take 2 fruits per day. But when i read the book again, i realise i make a mistake....will this slow down my wt loss? Im quite worried bcos Ive done it a few times:confused:

Hi BabyJo ) I'm from Sg too. There are several tips shared by fellow Cohenites on how to deal with hunger and in summary, the suggestions fall under two categories:
(i) Food Changes: Experiment with different types of allowed food and find the ones that satisfy you the most
(ii) Meal/Snack Times: Spread out your food intake such that you have snacks of crispbread or fruits, both your allowance, between meals

Don't worry about any mistakes make - it's already done and we can't reverse it. I think what's important is you found out and nipped it so early in your program. So look ahead, stick to the plan, and whether it happens slowly or quickly, you're still losing weight :)

LOL - MOTH. My moth hates balsamic vinegar and I love it. I'm new to cohen's (day 5 at the moment) and I'm finding I'm adding curry and chilli with the meat meals and using balsamic in salads. To me it feels more like a "full" meal if it's full of flavour rather than bland "rabbit food" which is what I'm scared it will seem like and if that happens I may fall off the wagon.

LOL about stinking the house out!!

Help for locations

Hello

Im interested in this program, but is there a clinic in NSW.
I live in Newcastle

Thanks Cherie:)

Hi All,

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.

Welcome back Lam, glad you had a good time and still lost ! Yay to you!

Lukey, Good luck with starting and when travelling. I don't generally travel that much for work, the recent UK trip was in place of someone else who fell ill.

I find that even if you are eating out, you can make healthy 'cohen' choices.

Last night I was out shopping with my sister and we so lost track of time before we knew it it was 8.30 and I had to eat by 9, were not that many choices available so I had Maccas (McDonalds) It was really odd standing at the counter at maccas ordering , it was even more odd ordering a salad.
I had the herb infused chicken salad with Italian dressing and it was really nice. I checked the nutritional info and it was very low in calories/carbs/fat. (not that I am counting but always good to check - I would not have eaten it if it was high in carbs or fat!)
It was all Cohens friendly except for grated carrot which I picked out.

I hardly ever deviate and I would not normally be so disorganised and not prepared with my meals but it was just one of those days and these days do happen especially if you are travelling, it's great that places like Maccas and other fast food places do have healthy options now just for those times when you do get caught out.

Chezza: I am not too sure but here is the link for the Cohen website in Australia, check on there for locations.

Have a great Cohens day all and until next time..

Hey everybody,

I know it has been cold weather for some of you but we have been steadily warming up. It was 80 degrees today and I went to buy more flowers. I have been a planting maniac. I feels good to be able to watch all of my hard work blossom into such pretty things. Kind of like all of us, blossoming as the pounds come off. Hard work does pay off so we shall continue.
I wish you all a lovely weekend. :)

Hey all! I actually finally heard from the geelong Cohens clinic .......Herbamere is fine! (Thanks for your offer Cate) which is good,.......she also suggested the blackmores skin/hair/nails capsules to help about hair loss. These are extra, taken with the normal daily vitamin, and oil capsule.....to give extra zinc and extra ?. I will definitely try this.

I'm experimenting with pureed crackers and tomato, to try and make a gravy thingy.....I'm craving stews rather than stirfrys. Maybe soup? Anyone else in winter mode, and not feeling like the usual salads?
I find stirfry mushrooms and cabbage with chilli is nice and filling as the vegie serve...

Feeling blue this weekend.... skinny thoughts to you all. (our combined weight losses would be pretty good on a graph eh?):)

Help Needed

Hello

I 'm in desperate need of losing 80kg.
I have tried every thing posiiable but nothing seems to work...Well fast enough anyway.
Is the Choens Diet as good as what it sounds.
Can anyone help me with a sample of a days diet.
Thankyou:)

Evening all

Thanks for mentioning all the vitamins etc Aussueeater...I shall remember that.

I am getting very impatient waiting for my program to be ready...its only been a week today that I had the blood test...I just want to start my new healthy life. I can't stop thinking about it. I am really ready for this change to my life.

Cheezer can't help with the food etc. You are probably best just to go and have a chat with your local Cohan clinic. My lady was lovely, told me all the info, show me before after's of people from her clinic and left it up to me to decide what I wanted to do.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.....

Hi Chezza:)

I started Cohen's December 2006 and finished the refeed programme march 2007, I lost 15kg in 12 weeks. They say the more you have to lose the quicker the weight loss the figures have shown some people can lose up to 10kg in a month, I lost 6kg in my first month.

I have been absent from this forum for awhile so I am just catching up.

Cohen's is based on individual blodd tests and Dr Cohen then tailors a weighloss plan based on this. You are best to check out a clinic for more details you really can't use anybody else's plan, and also if you are serious about losing you will want to research all the facts then make the decision for yourself.
It is the best weightloss plan I have ever been on and the weight does literally fall off, I notice the difference within 2 weeks - my clothes were looser and also felt so much healthier with eating this way.

The diet is made up of lean proteins, fish, chicken, red meat etc and mainly green veg - these are all weighed before cooking. Some fruits are allowed depending on your indiviudual plan. Water intake is essentail at least liters a day. So that is it in a nut shell. Goodluck with it all.

Hi Chezza,
Yes, it really does work, as long as you stick to the program 100% you will lose weight very quickly and the best part (well for me it is) NO EXERCISE..YAY!!
Have a read of this post, it gives you a lot of information and a example of a typical day on cohens.

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/cohens-lifestyle/6475-cohens-lifestyle-support-new.html

A typical day for me is:
Breakfast: mushroom, tomato, onion, capsicum omellete, 2 crackers
Snack: Mandarine
Lunch: Tuna salad, 2 crackers
Snack: kiwi fruit
Dinner: Chicken stir fry, 1 cracker

At first the food does not seem like much and you do get hungry but after a week or so you get used to it and is more than enough.

Hope that helps, No other diet has worked as well for me, I have slowed down a bit this month due to travelling but you can quite easily lose anywhere between 5-10 kilos a month. You could lose all your weight in less than a year. I totally recommend it. The way you feel after dropping some weight is the best feeling ever. Go for it!!

Hi Lukey,
You sound sooooo ready, good for you, hope you love it! Have you got much to lose?

Sam, good to see you back, so many people posted in here when I first started, did re-feed and we never got any updates or heard from them again so it's nice to see someone who has been there, done that. I have read alot of your posts and your loss is truly inspirational - 15 kgs in 12 weeks. How is life after Cohens?

Sue, How did your cracker, tomato thingy experiment go?..do share, I think I may be getting sick of salads and stir frys too.

Hope everyone else is sailing along smoothly on this wonderfvul cohens journey..

Hi All,
I am starting week 6 today and have lost just under 20 lbs. I would have hit the 20 lb mark if it wasn't that "time of the month" :(
Having gone away last week definitely slowed things down but overall I feel good, pants are looser, face has thinned.

Chezza,
This diet works, since there is not a clinic around you, call and find out how you should proceed. I am sure they can give you plenty of details over the phone. My meal for a typical day:
breakfast: an egg & veggie omelet, and crackers
snack: a fruit
lunch: chicken with veggies, crackers and fruit
dinner: steak or chicken, veggies, crackers and fruit.
I know most people use their crackers and fruit for the snacks, I only do that for breakfast, this way works better for my and I don't get hungry until my next meal time. I drink 2 to 2 1/2 liters of water a day.

We have had 2 days of pouring rain and dark skys, so dreary. Can someone tell a cheery story?

Hi all! A big, big welcome to all newbies. Cohen's is great. Stick to it & you will get results.
After a heavy frost we have beautiful blue skies without a cloud in sight. I feel that today I am just starting a new life. I am officially 3/4 of the way to my goal weight as I'm now 78kg (27 down, 9 to go!) and yesterday I quit my job! Wish me luck forum buddies as I'm not sure what's in store for me.
I think we are all doing really well. Cohen's works & the results are quickly visible. I have been able to see myself shrinking as each week goes by. I am becoming comfortable in my new skin & even at the age of 54 my skin has been shrinking along with me.
Lori- Just think- your days are lengthening & you are coming out of the cold & into the sun. It's just hiding at the moment. Think of us down under (& me under down-under in Tasmania. Hey I'm not far from the Antarctic!)- the days are getting shorter & shorter, the nights, colder & colder & I don't have much in-built insulation any more! On the bright side the sun is shining today & I am getting slimmer & slimmer!!
Lets stick to Cohen's, the forum & each other, through cold & heat, blue skies or rain & become the slim, healthy & happy people we want to be, cheers, Cate.

Hi all well the last couple of days i have been bad:mad: and mad at myself i have had a few things that i shouldn't not to much just a few biscuits and a couple of pieces of chocolate. Does that slow ur weight loss down by much because i am half way there and feeling great and dont wont to blow it .

It is getting cold and days are long especially when it is not a good day outside and u r inside all day. How do we get past this feeling sometimes i just think y bother but i have come this far so i dont wont to stop.

I am getting sick of the same food that is my problem has anyone got any new tips to share.

Also another thing that could be doing it i started walking so that might be my problem i might have to stop that.

Well thats enough of me winging. Welcome to all the new people in the forum and to all the old ones keep up the good work.

Cate u will work out what to do with ur life now u have no job because u are a more confident person since u have lost ur weight and it sounds like u are happy with ur new body.

Hey Anniethanks for your kind words. I got a call from my lady at Cohen's today - my program is in....so I am off tomorrow after work to pick it up...yehar. I think I will start the program on Saturday, then I have the whole long weekend to get into the routine before I tackle work. I have a fair bit to lose about 55kg....thats kinda of scary now I have actually seen that number in front of me. I know I can stick to it.

What kind of yogurt do you ladies buy? I won't have time to make omlettes in the morning before work. But I will be stewing some apples up. I will save my omlettes for the weekends.

I keep looking at all the skinny people around lately, thinking one day I will be like you....I don't really mean skinny people, just normal average size would be wonderful for me.

Did anyone else have really big boobs? Did they skrink too....and did they get really saggy? Sorry if thats a bit personal. I have been told I am suitable canidate for a breast reduction but I am hoping after the weightloss I won't need it....maybe just a lift ;)

Well I hope everyone has had themselves a skinny day!!

Look forward to starting my own ticker.

bye for now

Breakfast & Dinner Receipe

Hey Lukey, you must be so excited about getting your program....

I use Vaalia Natural, Low Fat Yoghurt in a 900g tub. I use 300ml size "chinese" takeaway containers (the are really small, about 10cm by 5cm).
My allowance is 175g of yoghurt so put that into 5 containers. I also add 4 drops (= 1 teaspoon of sugar) of Sugarless liquid sweetener. I find the natural yoghurt taste a bit sour. I mix it around, seal it and pop it in the fridge. 900g makes 5 containers and a tiny bit. Each morning I chop half an apple into small cubes and mix it with the yoghurt. The other half I slice up for a snack later on.
------------
The other night I had Curried Prawns and Cabbage. I've never cooked cabbage and thought it would be pretty awful with prawns but it was actually really great. :D
Prawns (allowance)
Cabbage sliced thinly (allowance)
1 teaspoon Mayonaise
1/2 -1 cup water
Fry prawns (or in my case defrost them!) in a pan with a spray of oil. Mix curry, mayo, and water and toss in the pan. Don't over cook the prawns but let the water reduce a little.
Chop/slice the cabbage, spray a pan with oil, 2 tablespoons water and salt pepper to taste. Add the cabbage and toss until the cabbage is soft, about 15 minutes.
I poured a little of the sauce from the prawns onto the cabbage.
Yum.
-------------
I'm not an expert, this is my first week and I reckon I'm a pretty hopeless cook but Cohen's will change ALL that :jump:
