Hi all, everyone is doing great. Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I havent been on for a few days. Good to see all the positives.
CATE - Great to hear you had a nice birthday. Sounds romantic.
LAM, BFNM - stick with you will be there in no time
CATE, NONNA - we are at about the same stage. Stick with it. I had a bit of an ugly weekend. But am now more focuessed than ever to get to the end.
MERMAID SISTER - Great to see you back, you go girl. :)

Hello Everybody! Just registered tho have been "lurking" for the last several months on and off. Have been doing the Cohen's program since the end of February (my birthday)... Have lost about 30 pounds and enjoy reading all your posts on here and in the recipes threads. This is my first post and am looking forward to "coming out of the closet" in this forum :)

:rotflmao: Can you believe I couldn't find this thread!!! Maybe dieting is frying my brain!
Anyway, just back to say thankyou for the warm welcome. I've just completed my 1st week and have lost 3kg....VERY happy. Now 10 more to go. I know that doesn't seem a lot to many here, but I'm only short, and it makes a huge difference to how I fell, and move around in my daily life.

I always laugh about the weekly or MONTHLY weighng ......like everyone doesn't hop on almost every day!!!! (LOL)....but i'm telling myself to be patient, and keep off the scales.

One thing I meant to ask is, has anyone else suffered hair loss on the Cohen programme? When I did it last year, I was told it was common.....although that didn't make me feel any better about all the hair at the bottom of my shower every morning!! I'm a bit nervous about that happening again.
Sure, it regrew as soon as I was back to normal eating.....but the short regrowth doesn't do much for a girls "sleek" look (LOL)

Well bye for now.....I'm going to try and get a ticker! :)

Aussueeater... about your ticker... look on the left side of the screen under "Site Navigation." Click on "User CP". Now look under "Control Panel" and click on "Edit signature." Input your ticker code and anything else you want to say (name, date, etc.). Save it and you should be good to go....

Hello everyone,

Fitnfiesty, Welcome and great job on losing the 30 lbs.
Aussueeater, I haven't lost hair on this diet but lost a ton right after the birth of my daughter and since all of it is related to hormones, I guess it makes sense. If it don't level out have your thyroid checked too, that can also cause hair loss.

Ok, let's talk. I just finished my 4 weeks last night and I am down 15.4 lbs and 9 inches (that does pale in comparison to some of your losses :) for you :( for me. Overall I am pleased and a couple people have noticed. But, I want to know if any of you have found a reduction in cellulite  I am really hoping for that! Also, when you lost inches quickly where there any physical signs that that was going to happen.

I hope you all had a great weekend, much love.

Thankyou "Babyfatnomore"...........only took me 3 tries :jump: (my brain is definitely NOT in gear...) I'm being wintry, as it's heading into our cold weather..and I'm thinking how good its going to feel, wearing a small ski suit this season!!

I had all the blood tests when I was on the diet last year, and my thyroid was fine. The staff at Cohens just said up to 30% of people can get hair loss in reaction to the very fast rate of weight loss. It isn't so bad because I have a pretty full head of hair......but others with a very thin style, may be horribly shocked!! I was wondering if extra vitamins, or an extra omega3 capsule would help.... may have to contact Perth to ask.

Lam, I'm 44 and have a chubby face which got a bit skinnier but not really saggy. However a friend (50), lost soooo much she got a turkey neck! ...and it still looks like that 6mths later...I can't see it firming up! Also her butt shrank so much, she got 2 creases of loose flesh under it! Now she looks fantastic in clothes....but the saggy bits are a little bit negative. We were told some of the laser skin treatments for firming might be the way to go. Here in australia they are called "re-firm" and thermologie.(I think)

I have another question though. I followed the "no extra exercise" recommendation last time, and felt pretty flabby (I'm sure part of the weight loss is muscle). Is anyone doing Curves, or a similar gym workout whilst on Cohens? Is the exercise supposed to make you hungry, or are they worried your body will stop losing weight so fast,,,?

I'm finding it surprisingly easy to be back with the program....but black coffee just doesnt do it for me the way my daily latte did (LOL)..but at least its caffeine! Bye guys! Have a great SKINNY day!

Hey Lam, great job on the lost! 19.7kg and four months later, I'm averaging 1.23kg per week...and you've done about 1.75kg per week! Excellent! You'll be graduating before you know it :rotflmao:

My cellulites do seem to have gone away. My consultant said that if I am vain (of course I am!), to take fish oil capsule to help my skin tighten faster to fit my new body better. It worked for me. You might want to check if you can do the same.

Hi.........My consultant said to only take one capsule of fish oil (omega 3) each day ,until trying to lose the last 2-3kg, as the oil can slow your weight loss..... Worth checking though.
Hmmm, better get back to work!
See Ya!

Hi everyone good to see it back to normal in here. I have my three month weigh in tomorrow so hope i have lost a bit will let u all know tomorrow night how i went.

Had another successful basketball trip to coffs harbour last weekend packed all my own food again and did not buy one thing for myself so i am very proud of myself.

Went to kmart this morning looking at jeans and tried a size 14 on they fitted and i could do up the button and zip and they where a pair with the very little zip i was amazed but didnt buy them hoping to go smaller than that.

Have a good day to all and keep up the good work.

Hi every-one! What a cheerful, positive forum it is again and well done to every-one for your great losses!
I'm 54 (as of last Friday) & have discovered after all this time, that I do have wrinkles! Mostly they are "laughter lines!" I haven't lost any hair but then I probably don't have many hormones left! I am amazed at how much my skin has shrunk. I thought I would have it hanging off me everywhere:)eek: !) but I don't. I take a 1000mg Omega 3 capsule every day along with a good multi-vitamin & a few others. I have no idea which is working for me but will keep taking them. I think the 2-3 litres of water is the key.
I'm feeling so much better after a rough patch  and am learning to feel happy in my new skin.:) It does take some getting used to. I need to adapt a new style of clothing & am not rushing into it. I had forgotten what I really looked like. Re cellulite- I think mine is starting to go after 4 mths on Cohen's. I read somewhere in here that it can take up to a year or so, but does go so there's hope for us all.
Keep up the good work fellow Cohenites & thanks for helping get this thread back on a positive note, cheers, Cate:D

COHENITES I like that name!! Just thought I'd check in before bed (better than looking in the refrigerator) Sleep well....dream skinny!!

well... I deviated and badly! I went a week straight and was feeling so flat (I have been sleeping more than usual as well) and I have this assignment due and I was stressed and I caved for carbs. I am feeling so guilty and upset with myself and my mum didn't help when she said "you could have just eaten an apple" but I did, I ate many apples and drank lots of water and had crispbread and I still couldn't concentrate let alone stay awake! I am so sad and confused and disappointed in myself... heaps sorry to bring a damper to the group you are all so happy and positive... I feel like I am never going to win this battle and that everytime uni gets too much I won't be able to stick with it. I am going to start fresh tomorrow but I don't know what to do as it is coming up to exams and I feel like I won't be able to handle it. I wish I could just be normal and not have to worry about this stuff it is so hard trying to succeed in everything I feel like everyone expects me to be everything and I just can't.

Mermaid sister,
You are normal, and you need to be only concentrating on you, not what everyone wants you to be. Cravings are normal, just stay strong and tell yourself you will be done that much quicker. You can do this stay strong.

Dear Mermaids sister,

Start again a new day and a clean slate, be gentle with yourself you are being a very normal person remember that it takes 21 days to create a new habbit and 6 weeks to get it established. you can do this look how far you have come!!
Hugs Nonna

Oooh Mermaid Sisiter...I just want to give you a big hug!!! {{{{:) }}}}

There isn't one person here who hasn't done exactly the same as you..... and I totally agree with Nonna and Lam....look at your Ticker! See how far you've come! Don't let a simple little slip, end your journey. It's just one short pause before you begin again.

My Cohen counsellor said last year to delete 1-2 crispbreads from the next 3 days of the diet, to reboot the weightloss after a slip up......why don't you ring the Cohen center you attend and check with them? When others arent supportive, your Cohens person is only a phone call away, and that's what they are there for!

Keep going....you're doing this for YOU....noone else. ...and ONLY YOU can make it a success!! Good Luck.

Hello All

I have been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now. I have decided to call a Cohen's clinic near me tomorrow.

I am at my heaviest weight ever. I have realised that I have to get off my butt and make a conscience decision to finally do something about it once and for all.

I came very close last year to making it on the Biggest Loser. I am considering applying again this year, but I would like to think if I start Cohen's soon that when it comes time to addition again, I will half way through my weight loss and won't need the show.

I feel like my life is on hold till I shift this extra weight. I am sick of being told 'You have such a pretty face' and I know that they are thinking, if you just lost some weight....blah blah. I want to meet a nice boy, settle down...you know the usual stuff.

So tomorrow I am picking up that phone...no more excuses.

Keep up the fabulous work ladies...you are all an inspiration. :)

Lukey,
Good for you and welcome, the weight will be coming off before you know it. This is such a great mix of people, who have all felt just like you. That is why we can be supportive, we know how you feel.

Hello Everyone,
I will be leaving very early tomorrow for an unexpected trip to see relatives in No. Carolina. There philosophy is "you don't eat because your hungry, you eat to keep from getting hungry" and they are incredible cooks. I will be strong, I will be strong I will be strong... Anyway what I will miss most for the next 5 days is all of you. You keep me strong, inspired and smiling. I know they coming days will be hard but I will think of you all and I will be fine. I look forward to checking back in. Keep smiling, talk soon, much love.

Hi everyone just a quick stop to say that i had my weigh in yesterday i have lost another 5kg so that makes a total of 16kg for 3 months and 77.5cm. Starting to feel good people are just starting to notice which makes you feel great.

Keep up the good work fellow cohenites.

Lukey- Welcome to the forum & coongratulations on making the decision to go on the Cohen's program. Becoming slim is a positive, healthy decision & should not be a degrading experience. We will support you all the way!
Lori- You are a very strong person & hopefully your relies should respect that & encourage you. Just say to them that you will have to come back again to enjoy their wonderful cooking. Keep strong & smiling as you get slimmer & slimmer....xo from me
I am no longer obsessing about weighing. It's great to know that if you do not deviate the weight will just keep on coming off. I have really settled into it. I cannot imagine ever getting fat again. This is the first time in my life that I have felt so confident about this (& I'm 54!) I love Cohen's, love this forum & am going to love being slim & healthy! Cheers, Cate.

Welcome Lukey! I don't believe you'll regret it. It is the fastest way of losing weight I have ever come across, and I know there are people that bag it for that very reason.....but NOTHING is as much reinforcement, as quick drops in the numbers on the scales!!! Good Luck.

Lam...Good luck to you too! Nothing worse than being surrounded by people all trying to feed you!!
I recommend going armed with your cracker packets, & vitamin pills! Maybe be the one to volunteer to make coffee/tea all the time....so you can escape the food covered table, and take a break! Chewing gum is good, because you can always say it will make the food/drink tast terrible...so "you'll have to wait"!!

Whilst we're on this topic.....what do others do to avoid being "fed" with drinks and food all the time at a party or family gathering?
My personal favourite is to don the plastic gloves, and get stuck into the dishwashing!! Haha....my hands are occupied, and if they try to stuff things into me I "accidentally" drop them in the sink!

Ezzy...wow! Thats a fantastic loss...Thats exactly half way there too isn't it? "All downhill from here?" YAY
Cheers for now!
