introducing myself

Hi everyone I have just tracked down this forum after seeing the other one disappear. I am on Cohen, week 3 for the second time after losing 20 kilos in 2005. Since then I have gradually started gaining weight, especially in the last 6 months and once I got half way back I decided to stop the rot, and begin Cohen again. The first week is always the most difficult, and then after starving the second week and only losing a kilo, I was somewhat challenged. Week 3 has been much better and I feel fine. Not really a lot to lose in relation to others, but after 50, things start slowing down.
Anyone suggest a meal that is delicious? I am already sick of meat and mushrooms, chicken and mushrooms.
Saw somewhere a prawn salad recipe. Anyone got it?

BFNM - your clothes will be falling off you soon... I get confusedwith kilos and pounds.. but I have lost a bout 15kg and only now noticing any changes.. mind you I have another 45kg to go.

Ezzy.. so glad you're staying. Hope you're week is a fab one.

I have so many varying size clothes in my wardrobe I dont' think I will have to shop til I lose another 40kg LOL But then there'll be no stopping me. I just can't wait to shop in those bargain places that sell things for $3 for a gorgeous top! That's my incentive.

Welcome SUEBETH...You'll be at goal before you can blink. My fave recipe at the moment is:

Your vegie allowance for stirfry
Your meat allowance - beef or chicken is best.
Stirfry it all together with some water, then throw in mango slices and mush it up, then add curry powder to taste. I just LOVE my curried mango stirfry. Just delish.

Another recipe I enjoy is Cohens Rissoles.
Mince your meat allowance up.
Add 2 crushed crackers.
Some tomatoe and onion.
Roll in to balls. Then cook as rissoles and serve with either mashed cauliflower so it looks and tastes a bit like potatoes or whatever veg you desire.

Cohens pizza's are great.
2 Crackers.
Handful of vegies on top - I use tomatoe, onion, capsicum, spring onion.
Top with cheese.
Put under grill for a few minutes til cooked.
I sometimes deviate a tad and add a smidgen of bbq sauce to the base. for flavour.

For snacks... I slice up an apple. Sprinkle it with cinnamon and pop in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Let them cool. I call them my Cohens chips lol

There's a thread on here somewhere with various recipes. Worth checking out. There's a divinie ricotta cheesecake recipe too.

Happy shrinking all.

Annie Lusion,
Hello and glad to see you back. Funny you should talk about cravings, today I was really craving a candy bar and popcorn. I didn't cave in but I like your philosophy that they'll be there after Cohen's. :)

Cate, hope your well. miss you :(

Suebeth, Welcome, nice to have you.

Everyone, I was so busy today when I finally got home I decided to take a nap. My 10 year old daughter was bored so she cleaned out my car, it looked awesome. I think I might have to take more naps. LOL I hope everyone has a great weekend!Talk to you tomorrow.

Just a quick hello to everyone & a big thank you for all your love & kindness.
I can't imagine leaving this forum as it's very supportive. I have always felt very welcome and at home in here. I'm not feeling very strong at the moment but am on the way to getting better-with lots of help & support!:)
This mornings little unofficial "peek" at the scales-not recommended to any-one I might add but it's hard not to be compulsive(didn't realise I was:eek: )-82.5. Was a size 22 or 24 (2XL U.S?). Now either a 14 or 16 & not there yet!
It's very important to embrace the Cohen's philosophy whole-heartedly.
I will stick to Cohen's until I get to my goal. I will then follow the basic principles & guidelines that Cohen's will give me so that I stay a healthy, happy, slim 54(soon) yr old & I will keep posting in this forum thread & my diary & will continue to share my experiences with whoever wants to know.
Love to all & a very big welcome to all newbies. We're nice when you get to know us! xoCate.

Hi All,
Hope evereryone is having a great weekend, it's Sunday night here so the weekend is nearly over, finishing it off with having to iron my husband's work shirts...grrrr. Going to iron all 5 shirts (grrr again) while I watch the Logies (Aussie's equivalent to the Oscars)
Well I had my big shopping day today, bought two pairs of pants (black and grey) a grey cardigan (baby doll style, very cute) and a really high heeled pair of shoes - they are divine, peep toe, half suede and half patent leather, they buckle around the ankle. I also bought some groovy digital bathroom scales.. will test them out tomorrow morning ( i am a serial daily weigher) I hope I weigh less on them :)

Ezzy: I know I am going to lose more weight but I really had to buy some pants, Myer had 20% off women's clothing so it worked out cheaper than I thought. Your 11kg loss is awesome..well done!

Cate: Good to see you in here again:) I remember when you hit the 80's and now your so close to the 70's..good on ya!

ICL: Way to go with the shorts, it's the bestest feeling huh? so motivating!

Lam: Lucky you, what a good girl your daughter is cleaning out your car. Well done on your 8 pounds, that's pretty good considering you only just started..keep it up!

Suebeth: Welcome to you and good luck with Cohens second time around. Check out the Cohen website:

heaps of recipes there, I have used many recipes from there.

Babyfatnomore: You are doing so well, 16 pounds is awesome, before you know it your clothes will be falling off too, people started to notice and I started feeling it in my clothes when I hit the 12 kilo loss mark (26 pound), so you are nearly there.

Have a great Cohen's week to all of you and happy Losing!

Hi guys,

I feel yucky today! Started my period (that explains the cravings), have an upset stomach and headache. :( I think I'll make myself a nice soup for dinner.
Annie, your Sunday night is AM(Sunday) my time, so I am a bit off when I tell you guys to have a nice day. oops
Everyone is doing so well. I can't wait till my clothes are falling off! Although it's nice just being comfortable in them, instead of feeling squished.
much love to all

Hi everyone, after doing so well with Cohens the old insecurites came back and after losing 38 kilos I am back where I started and have put back on the weight I lost, feeling down and depressed but have found this forum and feeling maybe I can try again.

I know my contract is up soon so I am just going to follow my original diet from Cohens but what to do about refeed will be a problem any suggestions.

People say you where doing so well but so much has changed for me this last year they cant imagine what it was like, they think put things behind you move on but sometimes thats so hard to do, but I think I am there now and want to try this all over again.

So I guess I can try and do this by myself without the support from the cohens office I joined up to, but hopefully I will get all the support from you guys to motivate me to doing this.

I need to lose weight my arthritis is back terrible and finding it hard some days to move and walking is so painfull. If you dont realise it weight just kills your joints as time moves on and I am wondering if they will ever be better fully but I know I was heaps better after losing 38 kilos.

So today is going to be my first offical back on the diet day so here goes.

Will let you know how things go.

You all are going so well congratulations. Bye for now.

HI all,
it seems everyone is kicking butt at the moment. Ezzy isnt it great when your kids say stuff. My 16yo is extremely proud of his mum. He keeps coming up and giving me lots of hugs and stuff. Not that he didnt before. But I can just sense that he is super proud.

I am feeling much better today thank you to all who have been so sweet.
I am having trouble concentrating at the moment & had written out notes for each person. My brain isn't up to it so pl forgive me. I love it when someone takes the time to personally address me. It's lovely.
At the week-end my youngest son (24) gave me a big hug & said "Wow Mum, I can wrap my arms around you!" He whispered in my ear that I look great & gave me another big hug. It's really nice if our family is proud of us. I think we should be really proud of ourselves & learn to love ourselves. As someone who is about to have counselling for the first time in her life(nearly 54) I feel this is really important & needs to be learned.
Welcome to all the Newbies once again. Soon your pants will be falling off you! Don't do what I did & get around in them with waist folded over. Buy something cheap when you go down a couple of sizes. It makes you feel & look so much better!
I love the mix of Aus & US Cohenites in here. I have been to the US 3 times & found the people to be so friendly. Even though the programs (& spelling/ words) are different we are all on the same journey.
Love to all, xo Cate.
(Measured today & woo hoo my big fat a..(f. in US) has almost disappeared!)

tryinagain - stick with it. I too have arthritis and although it really hasnt improved as much as I thought it would I do believe that sugar has something to do with it all. obviously not lugging around the extra 25kgs would also be helpfull. you can do this.........you have before. Are you actually out of contract? If not I would give the clinic a call as your bloods would be different now.

LAM - you are doing so well and being so strong. At that time of monh is usually when I cave in... some say all cravings go on cohens.. not with me.. I find they intensify. Lucky me NOT!

Welcome tryinagain. Are you going to do some counselling or self analysis before starting again to see why you self sabotaged? I've just spent the weekend doing the exact thing and wow......... is all I can say. I dont' think I need counselling now but boy did a lot of crap come up.

I got a new journal and just asked myself why I think I self sabotage? Then asked what do I enjoy about being fat/obese? And that's when the floodgates opened.. the crud that came out of my head. Amazing! Better our than in!

So I feel amazing today. Like a load has been taken off. No more self sabotaging for me. Cohens all the way til the end and then al ife time of health for me and mine!

I've also decided not to weigh myself at all. I go to bed at night now visualising the scales saying 56kg. Bring it on.................

ICL, I am so glad you are feeling so positive and upbeat. Thats what we all need to hear.
Cate, glad you are feeling better too.
tryingagain, we will support you every step of the way. you go girl!

Everyone, hello and I hope all is well.
Today is the start of week three for me. I found myself very thirsty this morning as I was waking up. I must need more water, sometimes I think I will float way. Of course by now I know where every bathroom is wherever I go. well of to do my errands. Talk to you all soon. much love.

Hi all hope everyone is sticking to ur diet plans the more weeks u go on the easier it gets i put a pair of pants on today that i bough 2 weeks ago from the opp shop they are a size 16 and they are starting to get baggy i cant beleive it.

Hi Jools, the soup recipe is below. Sorry it took so long, my daughter has been sick so I havn't been on the forum.

You can get keto stix from the chemest which measures the amout of ketone in your body (Generally is measures how much the body is using its fat stores for energy). There is a scale on the packet which highlights how much ketones you have you, the darker the colour the more fat you are burining. Generally it takes three days to get into ketosis once you the elemitae carbs from your diet.

Thick chicken & Asparagus soup

Chicken allowance
Onion
Tinned or fresh Asparagus
Chopped Fresh parsley
Garlic flakes
Curry
Salt & pepper

• Brown the chicken in a pot
• add onion & asparagus
• Mix in spices (heaps of curry)
• Add water (if you want really thick add about cup and half) if you need a big fill up add more water.
• Simmer for about 20 mix
• Use the barmix to shred up all the ingredients

Enjoy

thanks kgb,
hope your daughters feeling better. now the cooler weather is here will give the soup a try. still dont understand the ketosis thing but will have a look in my chemist and have a read up. thanks ;)

Hi everyone,
Just getting ready to do some house cleaning :( Hoping I can do some planting over the next couple days. Jools you said it is starting to get cool, our weather is just started to get warm (70 degrees today). Maybe with the warmer weather I can get more (actually some) exercise in. Don't worry nothing drastic, just walking.
I hope all is well for everyone and we're all sticking to the plan. Sometimes other people can make it tough on us. Case in point, my son (22 yo) came home last night and he and his girlfriend decided to make chocolate chip cookies!! My house smelled like rich warm chocolate chip cookies
I told my son that was not nice, as I drank a big glass of water :D
much love,
