Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi everyone well my weekend away was great i did not buy a thing or deviated once. I packed all my own food and ate it.

I went and had my 2month weigh in today i lost another 5kg so all up that is 11kg and 50cm my clothes are getting baggy on me nearly time to go down a size will have to go shopping at the op shops.

Hello to all the newbies and everyone else eep up all the good work.:)

Hello everyone. I just sent off the last of the overseas vistors i've been entertaining these two weeks. I hopefully had my last deviated meal this afternoon and can be back onto my diet.

I know I'm very gung-ho about getting back on plan and losing what I gained through such deviations but I'm feeling a bit discouraged because I feel that the last 10 to 11 kg is so tough to lose. Even though I've been deviating and I know that's why I've put on a kg or so but duh...I still feel lousy.

Onwards ho!

Hi WB,
I had a month of being semi-off the plan, because of lots of family and work issues going on. I started again just over a week ago, and I've lost over 3 kg since going back on. So, I think you might be surprised by how fast the weight drops off after a period of deviations... if you stick to the plan, even though it is the final stage of the game. and every kg makes a huge difference to your body shape. I am kind of surprised most days by the differences I'm noticing.

Just wondering....

Hi everyone!:)

I'm currenlty on th re-feed and have lost the weight i needed:) I was just wondering, do you have any tips for what meals to take to school...cos its really hard to eat all the amount of protein given at school?

IchooseLife,

Thanks for the ideas and encouragement. I woke up last night feeling very nauseous, I am still nauseous and have a bad headache. I quess I wasn't fully over the virus I had over the weekend. Boohoo!

I just discovered a very extreme way of not weighing myself everyday......... On Monday I was standing on a verandah on the second story of my house (we recently bought it and are in the process of renovating). It colapsed and I fell to the ground. Breaking my foot and will need surgery. So I can hardly get to the toilet at the moment, the scales are not even an option. We are staying with my parents for now, as I can't get up the stairs into our house, and luckly Mum is preparing all my Cohens meals for me. I know I am not getting enough water in but I'm doing the best I can for now.
Luckly this programe dosen't require lots of exercise.

 WOW mytime! That certainly is an extremely dramatic way to keep away from the scales, probably not recomended by Dr Cohen though..........;) .
Hope you recover quickly. Thank goodness for Mums.

Lauren

Hi All!

Hows everyone going?
Mytime - Really sorry to hear about your accident... at least you are still remaining positive about sticking to the program!

Well Im having some trouble myself! Not major dramas but finding it hard not to deviate from the program! My problem is that I can stick to Cohens 100% when im at home and on my own but not when Im at work or out with friends! I have a pretty active social life which I have cut back to try and not tempt me from Cohens which is fine but work is more of a problem. I work in a group environment where staff bring in cakes, muffins, do Mcdonalds runs and do group dinners/lunches (I work shift work and we are all in a room together) all the time and it is very hard to resist when everyone either side of you is eating nachos and encouraging you to eat bad food! For example tonight I brought in my Cohens food and then someone announced what we were all having for dinner tonight.... I said that i have bought in my own dinner cause im trying to be good but they were all like whatever lets have chinese food and I have absolutly no will power when im with other people!! Arrrrrggggghhhhh - I need to get stronger but I really love food!! :) :) :) I know some will prob say that my colleagues should be more supportive but I dont work in that kind of environment where I can ask them to do that. I am getting better but just finding it very hard everytime I go to work!

Sorry for the whinging but I needed to vent my frustrations somewhere!!

Hope everyone else is doing well with their losings!!!

Cheers
Ness

LAM you might find that's your body detoxing, if not the virus. You go girl. A cuppa is a cup of tea here in Aus. I loathe diet drinks due to their horrific nutritional contents so cuppa's are my only beverage outside of the 4 or so litres of water I drink daily. Here's to a great first week for you xxoo

MYTIME - you poor thing. May it heal quickly and may you be more determined to remain Cohens compliant.

LONIECEE wow you are soooooooooo close... an inspiration to see those numbers.

NESS333 I'm a compulsive overeater too, it takes a LOT of mental strength to do Cohens. It took me several goes, various tactics, and while I'm still not 100% good ALL the time, I am a hell of a lot stronger mentally than I was even a few weeks back. You just have to ask yourself, is that one meal worth it? I worked out, if I was 100% Cohens compliant how long it would take me to lose my 60kg. I then broke that down into days. I now refer to having only so many days left til I am at goal weight. That's what helped me. Hope you find something to help you... it's not just food we're fighting here.

Today I gave in and weighed myself.. couldn't help it.. my skin felt lose, if that makes sense... today I am the lightest I have been since I had kids :) :) :) What an encouragment.

Trying Hard

Well, i had a crappy day starting with falling asleep at 4am. I woke up at 9.30 but had zip energy and fell back to sleep till 11.30. It is a public holiday so its not a drama. Showered and darted out to go shoping at Harbour Town- only major shopping precinct open in Adelaide today. By 3pm had splitting headache and when i went to get lunch- no visa facilities so couldnt get anything to eat or drink. Had water with me so not too bad. Eventually left and made it to a subway and could get a salad 4pm. Ohh i felt so ill from skipping breaky and lunch i wouldnt do this again. I just didnt have time guess i cant afford to miss it. I do feel a lil better but have sore throat and funky head. Maybe getting a virus. If so i have to look after self. I have weigh in tomorrow. Not sure if today will actually play a big role in results but its done and cant change it. Seeing my fiance for the 1st time since Feb 12 next week kinda gave me reason to go shopping as i have lost weight since i last saw him so thats one consolation to todays dilemma i guess. Im now in medium tops rather then L or XL. And its in shops like JeansWest which i could never wear before. I have another 10kg to go (63kg) but wld be happy at 65. Once got refeed program i can then get into it whenever i feel a little less weight is required. Going lower then 65 may be to low for me.

I hope all are keeping positive and looking forward not bakward. Life can only improve. My only issue is the wobbly skin i have in upper arms and tyre around belly. Im 25 so hopefully with a little toning they will tone up and look less yuk and if not, i have plan b: tummy tuck but fiance says not until i have kids as its a waste of money as it will restretch???? Anyone with thorts on this???

IchooseLife

I am feeling much better today, only a slight headache.
Finishing up day 3, no deviations :)
I am having trouble with breakfast! I don't eat yogurt, so my choices are
1. egg & vegetables 2. cheese & vegetables. I am struggling with those combinations...any ideas?
The hunger has subsided so that is good too.

Love the word cuppa!

Lam

Hi lam i as having trouble with vegies for brekky to so for the first month i only had an egg and two crackers. I still lost weight but i have now started having mushrooms, onions and tomato fried and a egg scrambled or poached seperatly and i find that fine. Keep up the good work and you will start feeling fine soon the headaches will go.

Hi folks. It's been pretty quiet in here lately. I wonder where every-one is?
Lam- I felt a bit like you about yoghurt & for the 8 weeks on the program I had a 1 egg omelette every single day. I varied the vegies a little but mostly what I did was- would get my veg allowance ready the day before & put them in a small bowl. This usually was a little bit of fresh tomato, bok choy or spinach, shredded (not silver beet), fresh herbs esp parsley, & a little spring onion. I would get an egg, add a 1/2 shell of water, some cracked black pepper & cracked sea salt, whisk it up & have it ready. Then I heat the non-stick frypan, after spraying lightly with olive oil spray, stir-fry the vegies, put them back in bowl, another very light spray in pan, pour egg mixture in & when bubbles are forming in omelette, place cooked vegies on top of 1/2. Then fold the other half to cover the vegies & away you go! Delicious!!
After 8 wks of eating this some-one in the forum put me on to a tip that if you have yoghurt & fruit for breakfast it really fills you up. I find the unsweetened yoghurts are very sour but have found one I like(from the forum) so I often have a sml tub of plain,low-fat yoghurt with 1 fruit portion of fresh mango (I'm now adding some sweetener now that mangoes are not sweet) & no hunger at all for at least 5 hrs & I have lots of energy. Also that way I don't have any of my crackers until lunch time which is great. Now I almost prefer the yoghurt & wish I could have it more often & I have never been a yoghurt fan! Your tastes sure do change!! Better stop!! Cate

Cate and Ezzy,

Thanks for the ideas, this forum is such a great help. I love reading all the posts...so inspirational:)

Does anyone have ideas for the ricotta cheese?

I have never tried mango or asparagus but I'm going to try them this weekend. :D

For only being on day 4, I feel good, and I'm learning a lot from all of you. :D

thanks everybody:D

and maybe someday I'll figure out how to add the ticker :(
:D:D I figured out the smiles :D:D

Lam, I had never eaten asparagus before this diet, but now I'm loving it! I'm adding it to my stir fries, eating it on the side of steak, and even eating it for breakfast! For breakfast, I saute it w/ onion, mushrooms, and any other veggies I'm craving. I put it on the plate. Then I cook an egg sunny side up and put it over the veggies. Sometimes I add my crackers, sometimes not. Either way it's tasty.

As for mangoes, they're yummy, yummy and so sweet when they're in season. I can't stand them when they're not...

Hi everyone
Lovely to see all of the new members starting out and great to see the progress of the older members. Well done everyone.

I'm back after a couple of weeks OS where the food was completely different and am happy to say that my weight didn't change :D :D
I am back on track 100% and am having symptoms of the first week again:( I'm sure it will pass soon and the weight loss has accelerated so I may catch up on the time off......... wishful thinking here)

Hand in there everyone!!:)

Lam, The address for the thread re tickers that I found really helpful you can go to at http://weight-lossforum.fitness.com/newcomers/7987-how-tickers-work-tickers.html That's what I had written down in an exercise book. Let me know if this is not right or doesn't work. It took me a few tries but I got there in the end, xo Cate.
This did not post what I had typed so I will try a different way-
what's missing in the middle is newcomers/7987-how-tickers-wor (then the rest). I'm probably confusing the issue for you instead of helping-sorry. This thread was by sticky & was really helpful!
