Hi again Minnie

I posted twice yesterday it was the 10.43am one if you are interested to chase up this refeed question.

Take care
Sam

Hi Heavenlylamb I haven't seen you online for ages. Thanks for the advice and concern but I finished my refeed on Thursday so day 1 for my new life was yesterday, hence the reason for enjoying a diet jelly.

And no, diet jelly wasn't allowed on my plan either

Irene :)

Kiwi and Lexie07,
I would love to join you both down the path of re-feed...Kiwi I have the exact same as you still to lose before starting it...wish we could get together and discuss it all over green tea or coffee but I am in the USA and you are quite far away in Australia...I am in the state of Ohio...I have 16 days on re-feed and it looks complicated to me right now but if I am organized like I am on the program now it should be fine..I weigh and freeze all my food out on Sundays for the week..the first 3days I guess I keep the same then I begin on day 4 thru 10 then 13,14,15,20,23,24,28,29,30....so on the days your not on such as day 11 and 12 then I just remain on day 10's menu until I hit the next re-feed day 13???? is that correct Lexie07??? since your mum said you already reviewed yours..everything new is just added on to my old program I assume....lets keep each other informed if you like...

Hey Minnie,
Ok the way the net based program is different to the way the program is done here. My consultant gave me my refeed program in a different format. We got our days allocated, but not in such a way as yours i.e. the whole 13, 14, 15, 20 thing. Ours was just like: Eat this much on your 1st day etc...

THis is how i think your refeed will work (lets assume you start on a Monday):

Monday - Refeed Day 4
Tuesday - Refeed Day 5
Wednesday - Refeed Day 6
Thursday - Refeed Day 7
Friday - Refeed Day 8
Saturday - Refeed Day 9
Sunday - Refeed Day 10
Monday - Refeed Day 13
Tuesday - Refeed Day 14
Wednesday - Refeed Day 15
Thursday - Refeed Day 20
Friday - Refeed Day 23
Saturday - Refeed Day 24
Sunday - Refeed Day 28
Monday - Refeed Day 29
Tuesday - Refeed Day 30

So you dont remain on day 10's menu, till you get to day 13. You just eat Day 10's menu on the Sunday, and day 13's menu on the Monday! The refeed isnt in itself a 30day eating program for everybody, you just get allocated days from it. So, your refeed will last for 16 days (same as mine hehehe:p ).

Yes, and you add everything. So an example would be "+30g protein, +40g veg, + 2 good fruits", thats IN ADDITION to everything you normally eat in a day. :)

Hope this helps! I'll let you know when i (and mum!) start refeed!

Crumbs!

Thanks Lexie07 for the alert about my crumbs :p I use only dried herbs which my consultant says I can use as much as I like, and I don't eat all my allowance of crispbreads so I'm fine. Also, I'm allowed cold-pressed olive oil although spray's recommended. Heehee......

LEXIE07,
THANKS!...many many thanks for all your information that was most helpful to me..I am wondering if I should email my consultants to see if that is what they meant as far as schedualing the days or I should just go for it anyhow and not bother asking..lol..5 fruits in one day seems like so much now to me...I may altenate he crackers and bread as I am so use to my crackers now..I will have to send away for the marie biscuit cookies as we don't have them here or if we do I can't find them..looking forward to joining you and your mum on ceremonial re-feed

hey minnie.

Yeah im pretty sure thats the way it works, it would be a bit suss otherwise :p. I know what you mean about the fruit thing, i was re-reading the menu plan i wrote up for myself and it seems i will be GORGING for 2 weeks, its like a giant deviation but without the consequences lol! Whats a Marie Biscuit Cookie? Must be an american thing?

Hey guys! im in the same boat with both of you, start my refeed tomorrow EEK!!!
pretty scared! ive written up my whole entire 17 day menu plan and even though there is a LOT of fruit it seems i think it will help in the..err...lower department?? :p
i remember a past cohenite saying its a good idea to eat all the fruit as it will help ' move things along'... but its great to think we will be overloading on food and weight gain should not be a problem! (unless the bread doesnt agree with us!)

just a quick question - tinned salmon in springwater - new protein? considering it is not processed and we can have tinned tuna on our original plan..??

also...MELLY P i remember you had no trouble in the bread department....which brand / kind did you use?!?!

happy losing everyone! xx

Lexie07,
Lol actually a Marie Biscuit is an Australian thing I am told and I have to order it online to receive it here in the USA or there is also a tennis biscuit these are the two cookies they reccommend us having at the end for dessert to try and both have to be purchased from an Australian food site I have not ordered them as of yet..they are like a plain vanilla wafer cookie..they refer to it as a plain cookie on the program...what kind of cookie would you be getting for it? and what kind of bread are you planning to try also???? I am worried about having a reaction to the bread but if so I will just go back to my crackers again...

Bleh.. I've had a bad week for once.. The first month was great, no deviations etc... This month though I seem to be having all kinds of problems.. Not drinking enough water for a start. It's a lot harder when it's cold.. The last week I've been sleeping so much, I'm always tired. I talked to my consultant and she told me to take double vitamins but it isn't helping.. I'm also finding I have to force myself to eat lately, I'm never hungry lol.. I'm starting to hate my yogurt too, I eat it as fast as I can now so I don't have to taste it. I tried having egg/veg instad but it made me feel sick. =/

On the upside, I lost 16kg and 40cm total in my first 2 months. I'll also be seeing my dad for the first time on the 7th since starting the program, which will be interesting.

Lexie07,
...what kind of cookie would you be getting for it? and what kind of bread are you planning to try also???? I am worried about having a reaction to the bread but if so I will just go back to my crackers again...

Im actually totally clueless on the biscuit front! I was just going to send my consultant an email about what sort of "biscuit" is a "biscuit" lol. Im also concerned about the bread. In my program it says no "health breads", so we have to stick to white (yuck! always hated white bread), brown and wholewheat. But im going to eat a combo of all three, especially white bread as its such a staple food you know? I was kinda annoyed because i love Soy and Linseed breads, im a big fan of grain-based breads. :)

Kirby - What i do to help me drink the water is leave the brita filter jug on the table (used to be in the fridge) so at least its room temperature, that OR i fill up the jug with lukewarm water so its heaps easier to drink. As for tiredness...are you eating all your fruit and crackers? in my first 8 weeks i wasnt eating all my fruit and crackers and was heaps tired all the time, as soon as i started eating all my allowances i felt so much better..my day was like this
Brekkie: 7.00am
Fruit and Crackers:9.30 or 10am
Lunch: 1.00pm or 2.00pm
Fruit and crackers: 4.30 or 5pm
Dinner:7.30 or 8pm. ( last cracker with dinner or 30mins after)

maybe also in between your water you could have a can of sprite zero or a coffee or green tea with sugarine? so then u have a nice aftertaste, youve warmed up a bit from the hot drink, and you can continue with the water??

what yoghurt are you eating? i eat Margaret River 99.7 Fat Free Natural yoghurt - its REALLY nice and creamy and doesnt have that weird sour taste the others do.you can buy it in coles in 1KG tubs.

CONGRATS on the weight and cm loss youll be a skinny minny in no time and good luck with the dad meeting!!

LEXIE : is whole wheat WHOLEMEAL bread?? My consultant said a terrific plain biscuit is 'Arnotts Milk Arrowroot'...also said to get the bread from the bakery as it will have less preservatives but considering i used to eat packaged bread thats what ill be getting seeing thats what ill be eating after cohens!

Big Hugs Happy losing! xx

Hi Minnie,
If you're looking for the Marie cookies--try going to an Italian bakery or a Portugese bakery--you'll have luck there. They go by different names but all include the name Marie/Maria on them--they are usually round or rectangular. We have them in Canada. Let me know if you have any luck with them. But Christies' Baby Arrowroot cookies would be an excellent substitution-very similar.

Hubby started Cohens Saturday-he's on day 2. He's finding it hard but told him it'll be much easier in about 4 days. He only has 25lbs to lose anyways. He'll probably be done in 4 weeks--ARRG!

Talk to you guys soon

Yummymummytobe!
Thank you so much for that info on the biscuits I will go look for them now I know my grocery store carries Stella Dora Italian cookies so perhaps they have the Maria ones too or the baby arrowroot ones perhaps or else I must order them online from australia...you were so kind to relay that thanks again...

Hi everyone,
glad to c you are all doing well
Melly p have you done your photos yet?
well i have been busy reading inbetween the new site and this one :D

For Minnie, Lexie and YM2B,

In Australia, Marie biscuits are a staple sweet biscuit that we use mainly in slices and bases for cheesecakes etc. Very versatile, and we can get them in all supermarkets and most corner stores.

They are made by Arnotts, so i'm sure if you go to their website it will give you some info on them, and might even tell you where you can buy them from as i'm sure you'd be able to get them from the states somewhere, coz i know we have shops just for USA foods here!!! (Gotta love Reeces Peanut Butter Cups....hehehe). Maybe you guys have an Aussie Shop...lol.

A common substitute for Marie biscuits here are the arrowroot biscuits (also by Arnotts), but i'd check with your consultant first.

Good luck, and i hope you manage to get your hands on some.

Checking In...

Hi Everyone,

I have been very busy at my new job lately and not much time to check in. Being busy has lots of advantages like no opportunity to think about food. I thought I would list some of my shortcut tips for the newbies.

The best thing I ever did was buy a ton of Willow 150gm containers because they 1) fit my food allowance/portions 2) stack away in the cupboard neatly after use 3) stack in the freezer and 4) are see through for choosing meals. They are a few dollars each but I figure i'll use them forever because they'll be a good indication of portion size when I'm no longer weighing food (life after Cohen's).

I buy meat in bulk packs and reduce to mince, stir fry size or fillets then just weigh into these containers and freeze. I have mango with my yoghurt so I buy a heap when they are really ripe and on special then just weigh them into my allowed portions in the containers and put them in the freezer too. It is a little work on shopping day but I do enough to get me through about a month.

Because my meal 2 and 3 have different weight allowances, i've decided meal 2 will always be salad so I can alternate between tuna & cheese salad which leaves a cooked meal for meal 3 and this is the weight/measurement I use for my meat. I decide which will be lunch or dinner depending on whether I am working during the day or in the evening because salads are easier to take to work.

I have learned so much about planning meals and finding the easiest ways to prepare them that I wonder how I ever got along before Cohen's. Well I suppose that's why I HAD a weight problem. Thank goodness that's all in the past.

I'm getting a lot of pressure from people telling me I should stop losing weight soon and I was starting to second guess myself but I saw a photo today and it's given me a reality check. I've done well but I definitely need to keep going and stay on track and lose the rest.

Thanks for being here and keeping me motivated!

Finished Refeed

Dear Forum

Today marks the succesful completion of Cohen for me, the last day of refeed and the tomorrow is the start of a new begining.

I lost 45.5KG whilst on Cohen I started 30-Jul 2006. I had a break during dec and got sick in Jan so almost 6 weeks I was off cohen though not eating unreasonably during that time. Not only did I lose weight but a wonderful side effect occured, my chronic and heavy Asthma condition which I have had for 36 years has disappeared; which points milk, bread or to much insulin as being the cause.

I reached my goal of being slim and trim. I thank everyone in this forum for your help particularly when I started and had lots of questions.

I will pop in from time to time to let you know how I am going (under 80KG!). For those on the program, just take it a day at a time, if you deviate dont dispare, just get back on the program and continue, the goal is obtainable and you can reach it. For those thinking about the program, just do it, it works, it will work for you, you just have to do it!

Congratulations Lessfatty. Wow....45.5kg, with not much work. How impressive is that. You sure are an inspiration to me and other newbies just starting out. Well done. Good luck with life after Cohens, but i'm sure you won't need it. You'll never be a fatty again.

Congrats Lessfatty!! Thankyou for your inspiration, my husband is doing really well about 12kg to date. Thankyou!
Lexie- My consultant advised me to have either Milk arrowroot or Scotch Finger biscuits. I also asked about the bread, as I prefer grain bread. She said Bakers Delight grain bread is fine. It has no preservatives and is YUMMMMM. I have done day one on my refeed. One piece of bread and some pineapple MMMMM It was beautiful! I had my bread for lunch, and made a half sandwich with salad and my chicken breast. It was so nice to be eating a sandwich!!
