Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi everyone.

Just touching base again, am almost there, have only another 5kgs to go to get to the top end of my goal. It has been a life changing experience for me and I cannot believe that I am wearing a size 12, (slightly big) from a size 20. Starting weight of 101 kgs now weighing 68 kgs. :D
Went to a family dinner the other night and was disappointed at my mother in laws anger towards my weight loss. Her initial reaction was "Diane you have to stop losing weight, you have lost to much already and will get to skinny if you do not stop" the evening was a pot luck style where everyone takes a couple of dishes, I contributed 3 meals, 4 if you count my own cohen's meal, she was aghast that I was not going to eat the same as everyone else, and then later she insisted that I have some cake, because I needed it as I was to skinny. My orange was a great dessert. :) Through out the entire meal I was glared at. Am of the opinion that you can't win.
Actually I will rephase that and state that I have won, I have won my personal battle against weight and I can only hope and trust that the lifestyle changes I have learnt will hold me at goal.:D
Did order refeed at my last weigh in, so that will be arriving soon, I want to be prepared and ready. I have been strong and have not deviated in my entire journey on Cohen's it has been easy and I have remained focused on my goal.
Everyone is doing so well and I want to thank everyone for there support, I haven't posted often but I read the forum every day and look forward to everyone's comments. :)

Nans and Kiwi,
I am from the USA and just received my re-feed today but they forgot to tell me what my days were so I am waiting on that plus I may go down another 5lbs closer to the Cohen goal they sent me ..I am currently at my own goal weight which is about 8lbs more than theirs...any ways I was looking oer the re-feed and I am a bit confused when it states add 30g old protein and 40g new protein (Is this on top of your original program?) then add 2bad fruits to my already 3 fruits i was having?? so i get 5 fruits that day??? 1 bread and 2 crackers on top of my usual 6cracker day??? I am so confused??? Can you explain in detail I would greatly appreciate your help as I have lost 80lbs and dont want to screw up on this final stage...thanks!!!

Kiwi

Wow Kiwi! Getting from size 20 to size 12 (and still slightly big) is so amazing! And you didn't diviate at all!

Being on the same program, you have my respect and admiration for being able to stick it all the way through, even under glaring eyes of the MIL :p I hope your husband or someone in the family was supportive though :) It's tough to be treated differently when all we're trying to do is get healthy.

And I've super news to share. Last night, my husband did a blood pressure check and the readings were BEAUTIFUL! 122/63! It has not got so close to normal for ages :D He's lost almost 18kg and has another about 8kg to go to goal weight. I firmly believe our participation in this program is the best investment in money, time, and effort ever made.

So lets march on to complete our programs. As we're looking better on the outside, the insides are also being sorted out...although we can't actually see the difference inside

Good For YOU!!!

Were you able to get your refeed straightened out? How long have you been on the program? How much did you have to lose? I'm happy for you. Some days week 12 seems so far away. I'm ending day 16, but the program is not that bad. The weekends are tough for me (as I mentioned on the US thread).

I hope you get everything straightened out. Good luck to you eating all that food!

Hi Kiwi,Minnie and Windyblue

Well done Kiwi at sticking to your guns my "MOTHER" was here at the weekend and commented on my weightloss and that it is a good thing and then went onto say in the same breath don't lose anymore or you'll get sick.
When I was over weight she was always telling me to lose now that I've lost it........well!!!!!. Anyway not going to dwell on it. You have done so well not to deviate through out programme and you must look and feel amazing keepit up and the next time you see your MIL pull out the big guns and go looking like a movie star she will be throwing daggers instead of glaring them.

Hi Minne well done as well getting to refeed. Yes those amount are added onto your normal portions but not all 3. For example you add your 30g of old protein to say meal 2 or you can divide the 30g and add 15g to either meal 1,2 or 3 the same for new protein, vegies and fruit, bread etc just add them onto your normal Cohen's programme. Just spread those "AMOUNTS".

I stuck to yoghurt for breakfast and then added my refeed amounts onto meals 2 and 3. Refeed is very fiddly but the reason for this is to gage the affect these foods have to your weight which is why you have to weigh yourself everyday.
My consultant said if their are any foods that cause significant weight gain or bloating etc, leave those out eg beads so stick with you cracker breads or instead of pasta try another carb on the list and see which one works for you. You also add the new proteins at the same time and remember you can mix the protein when you come to that day. I hope I haven't confused you more.

Hi WindyBlue you sound estatic I remember when you first posted, well done so far and hubby must feel and look like a new man. Congrat's to everyone.

Well today is my first day officially finished Cohens. I still had my yoghurt and fruit, I met some mum's for coffee I looked at the cakes/slices but I didn't.
I went grocery shopping and still bought Cohen's food and for lunch I am going to have mozarella on 1/2 a turkish roll with sald.

I will weigh again at the end of week.
So that is me for now people. Keep well and keep losing.

Sam:)

Nans i forgot to ask you what was your ending weight on refeed - how much did you lose during refeed and what was your cohens goal weight??
i spoke to my consultant today as im only 1.7kg off my top goal weight and she said since ive got my repeat blood test next thursday maybe i should weight till then, but i have my uni break starting next week and would much rather get refeed finished over my break so i can concentrate on uni!!!!!!!

Hi Caroline:)

I was 67kg the week before ordering refeed and I ended refeed at 64kg.
I was 63.6 on Saturday and then I deviated slightly and added about 400g on Sunday but lost 200g by Monday (which was my last day on refeed) and i am not going to weigh again till Friday.

My Cohen's goal weight was 65kg.

Yes you are best to start refeed without any distractions (if you can) the portions and measuring adding and subtracting really is time consuming.
On my refeed i did 17 days I know from past post they all vary individually.

Take care
Sam:)

Nans!!!
Thank you so much for the information that really helped me a lot I have 16days of re-feed and it looks overwhelming and confusing to me right now and like a lot of work compared to my program I was so use to...but I will get through it just have to really focus day by day where as before I was preparing my meals by the week and taking them out as needed it was wonderful...
Kiwi I would like to follow you on your re-feed as you are starting when I do although now I may wait to lose 8 more lbs as all the posts I read said go to Cohens goal you'll be much happier if you gain any weight back...
Bubblinb I lost 80 pounds and they did send me the correct re-feed days now but I may wait a bit to make sure I really know what I am doing...

refeed

Hi all,

I'm on day 15 of my 16 day refeed and I've really enjoyed it.

I'm so excited about what the future holds for me and thanks to Cohen's I'm actually proud of my body and happy about the way I look no matter what anyone says about me. I never thought I would ever say that about myself.

People have only been negative about my weight loss saying I'm too thin and I look like I am sick but I don't care.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Irene :)

Hi Isparkle50

what an amazing programme this Cohen's journey has been. Glad to hear that you are not letting others influence you about your weight loss.
I also for the first time feel proud with my body and have heaps more confidence.
I had a girlfriend visit today who I hadn't seen since before I started Cohen's and she was blown away she thought it was the stress of moving and then I told her it was Cohen's.
I am now the same weight as her except I am taller. It felt good to wear my size 10 jeans....hehehe.
Hi Minnie

Glad to help good luck with it.

Hi Caroline

Yes I lost about that. I am looking forward to Friday to see where I sit after this week. I am eating the same meals as the family but just reducing my carbs. Still sticking to yoghurt for breakfast I even measured........doh.

My girlfriend who visited brought home baked Chocolate muffins I had 1/2 to be polite but I didn't like the taste for some reason, hopefully I am cured from chocolate (I wish).

Bye for now
Sam:)

Well done Irene & good for you. I too am going to ignore any negative comments. From now on I am not telling anyone how far I have to go as most people have said that it's way too much. Already I feel so much better about myself and my body. Isn't it good to know that you CAN do it! It's empowering. Please keep us informed of how you cope with eating after the strict Cohen's plan as I'm know I would love to hear about it. Once again-Congratulations!!!! Cheers, Cate.

Sam and Cate,

A big thank you for your posts. Cohen's really works Cate and I'm so glad I found this forum. If I didn't find the support from my friends, I found it hear on the forums and from my wonderful husband. He has given up alot for me over the last 4 mths. I know he is looking forward to going out for dinner since we haven't been able to all this time.

Good night,

Irene

80lbs in 12???

Nans!!!

Hi Minnie -

Glad to hear that you got things straightened out in term of the # of days you would be on refeed. I'm only into week 3 - 9 more weeks seem so LONG  but I know I can do it.

Anyway...did you lose the 80 pounds during the 12 week allotted time or did you have to purchase an additional 12 weeks? I am trying to lose 54 pounds total (although cohen's suggests 59-64lbs) and am skeptical it. I mean that's a lot in 12 weeks. So, was it 12 weeks or more.

Good luck with all that extra food during refeed! I can't wait to get there.

Take it easy.

Hi Bubblinb and everyone else

Hi B,
Just wanted to say hi!. You're ending weight is close to mine-mine is between 50kg4-52kg. (110-116lbs). You're weight loss seems to begoing like mine. I lost 11lbs the first week-althugh I think 2 lbs was PMS weight. I'll be starting my 7th week tomorrow and I've been losing about 2lbs a week. When I emailed my wieght loss to Cohens after the 1st month the requested I get some of the blood work re -tested--don't know why though. That was a pain b/c I had to go to my doctor's office and ask them for a req. Because it's the request is out of country I had to pay for it-not as much as I thought-$20 Canadian-although the secretaries seemed a bit peeved about the request. They forgot to add one of the required blood test so I had to phone today to request another blood req., I think I'll bring them some chocolates to soften them up a bit--heheheh!

Anyways-How tall are you? I'm only 5 feet. Keep it up-it get's easier with time. Next week is my B.D. as well as Easter so I keep thinking maybe I'll cheat, but when I read everyone's notes-I'm determined not to deviate. I just want to be done in 12 weeks and at this rate I'm going I don't know if I'll do it. Not that I don't think I won't be able to stick to the diet it's just that I don't think the weight's coming off like the others on this diet.

My husband is starting this Saturday--He got his diet and it's completely different than mine--there's a few similarities (Meal one) but his Meal 2 and 3 are different. Where I have the option to have meat Meal 2 and 3, he only has that option for Meal 2 and his portion sizes are little bigger. He only has 25-30lbs to lose-he'll probably lose that the first week!

Anyways, I love hearing from all you and congratulations to all those starting and finishing re-feed. My husband printed off the re-feed guidelines and I read it last night--Wow-lots to remember- I hope to have it memorized (the guidelines and rules) prior to starting refeed.

Ciao everyone

Ignore spelling mistakes

 Hey people!
Sorry about the bad spelling. My 3 year old is on my lap and keeps pushing keys on the keyboard. When I read my post- I was embarrassed with all the mistakes.

Bubblinb!
Ha! I wish 80lbs in 12 weeks I would be on Oprah for sure with that!! No I had to do two 12week programs and I am ending my second twelve weeks on this Fri 3/30 but will go on to try for 8 more lbs to Cohens goal and then start re-feed as I need so much time to plan and go over the new program...looks so confusing to me right now since I am not actually doing it..but once I begin I am sure it will be fine...

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would pop in and see how everyone was doing.

Thanks windyblue, minny and fatcat for share some advice about my friend (it was awhile ago).

It's great to see veryone doing so well.

Lexie - I'm in the same boat as you with the weight loss. When you are near the end it get very slow. I was told to add a really small extra piece of friut in the morning or mid morning and that has made the weightloss move considerably.

Minny you asked when did i start cohens. I started on the 23rd june last year so it took me 9 months to loss 53.8kgs but it did slow right down when i broke my ankle at the end of october. How tall are you? I am 165cm so i am aiming for 57kg (bottom range).

Well ladies i have an interview for so work so pray for me as i would really like a job (i'm a teacher). I worked yesterday in a new school doing PE and for the first time i could keep up with the grade 6 kids in their running races. No exhaustion, no out of breath and no headache life is good, cohens is great. Keep up the amazing work you are all doing.
I will post again on Saturday as it is my weight in day

cheers

Jewls

Hey Jewls, you're doing so well. I'm 161cm's so i'm aiming for the middle of my Cohens range. Fingers crossed you get the job. I went for one yesterday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for me too! Keep up the great work. You're nearly there.
