I think we are close to the same. I started the diet about 7 weeks ago at 160 lbs. I am 5'2". They said my goal weight should be about 120-126. I may try to go lower than this if possible, due to my small to med frame. Lost about 16 lbs the first 4 weeks, but have slowed down quite a bit for the past 2-3 weeks. Good to know there's someone out there with similar stats. :)

Hi everyone

I just don't seem to have the time before to read everyones's post so I apologise for that and hope everyone is losing heaps.

Just an update before I pick up kids I have lost 300g so that is better than nothing. I have 3 days left of my refeed and I hope to stick this weekend through without any deviations - we do have another bbq this weekend but I am going to stick to plan. I would have finished refeed this week if I hadn't deviated so I went back onto normal plan for 2 days and then took up refeed where i left off. So that is it people hope all have a fantastic weekend and hope to check in Sunday and catch up the posts.

I am also going to start a new thread about losing after refeed.

Bye for now

Sam:)

Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me how u put your pics on coz I was thinking of doing a before pic and a pic of where i currently am!!

Thanks
:D Char:D

Char, You are doing so well. It's really inspirational to read the posts in here. I have been away from work for a week (with my Mum visiting) & yesterday I had some great comments. It made me feel really good and it's nice not to feel ashamed of your body. It's funny though, because people keep apologising to me whenever they eat chips & chocolate or talk about eating out, cake recipes etc but I really don't mind at all. I'm focused!Cheers, Cate

Way to goooooooooooooooo Cate!!
You got some comments on your weight loss!
People are starting to notice...gotta love that !

:) Hi, Everyone Iam new to this whole forum thing. I just wish I had have discovered it earlier! You all sound like you are doing so well and should all be so proud of yourselves! I have completed my program. I lost 40kg and have managed to keep it off for 6 months. I wish you all the best with your programs and I know you will get the results you desire. :)

So Frustrated

I am living proof that weightloss slows down near the end of the cohens journey.:(

2 weeks ago (saturday) i was 61.2kg. Today, 2 weeks later....60.5kg. it has taken 2 weeks to loose 700g. I am so disheartened.

No deviations at all. Waters well above the 3L. Taking all my vitamins. Everything.

I have an official weigh in today (22 weeks), and im expecting to weigh in at about 62kg (after breakkie and such). Last weigh in (16 weeks) i was 65kg. So...3kg in 6 weeks? OMG :(. I went from a steady 1kg a week pace, since week 2. and now....im doing less than half of that a week!

Ill post this afternoon to let you all know how it went.

Be strong girls!
Lots of love,
Lexie.

Hi Lexie

I totally understand your frustration ... I won't bore you with my details again (I've posted them before) - but basically I have been a slow kg loser from the very beginning ... but a high cm loser - go figure! After 16 weeks, I've now lost a total of 12.7 kg ... but 104 cm.

When I read on this forum how people are disappointed at 'only' losing 6 kg in the first month, I go "I wish!".

I had a 3-week weigh-in 2 days ago (had to bring it forward by a week due to work commitments) and I had lost a whole 1.76 kg ... I have had other 2-week weigh-ins where I have only lost 600 gm ... so I know how you feel.

It is very frustrating - particularly, if like me, you have a friend who started a week after me on Cohens, has lost 17 kg and is now starting refeed ... but we are all very different and I am thrilled for her - she looks terrific!

I do believe one factor is whether or not you drink alcohol - from the comments on this forum (eg longing for a champers!), the majority seem to drink alcohol. Giving that up alone will have a major impact on weight loss - due to the calories involved. My friend I mentioned above admitted that in a weekend, she could easily drink an additional day's worth of calories - and she's not a slosh! A glass of white wine has approximately 180 calories - so it soon adds up.

I am not an alcohol drinker - so my body didn't experience that dramatic decrease in calorie intake. That would have to have an effect.

Now for the upside to all of this ... as basically every diet guru, book, specialist, etc, has ever said ... the slower you lose weight, the greater the chance of being able to keep it off ...;) Notwithstanding that Cohens maintains even with their 'rapid weight loss' you'll still keep it off (providing you change your eating habits and adopt the Cohen's eating methods) - it would still have to help if you lost the weight slowly ... :0)

... and every gm lost is a loss and should be celebrated ... :D

On another note - I went to my GP last week - I hadn't seen her since before starting Cohens. She was very pleased with my weight loss, but shocked at the weight range that had been set for me by Cohens, ie 48-51 kg (I'm 152 cm). She got out her BMI chart and said that she would be more than happy for me to stop at 58 kg (which would put me near the high end of the healthy BMI range) but I insisted on wanting to get to 55 kg. She has strictly said she does not want me under 55 kg. She's been my doctor (and a fantastic one at that) since 1989 - she's only a couple of years older than me so isn't 'out of touch' and knew about the Cohens program - and so I've decided to heed her advice. I've re-set my ticker to a goal weight of 55 kg and if Cohens try to insist for me to achieve their goal weight (which they have tried with another friend of mine who looked scrawny and knew from previous experience what was her 'natural weight' - which was only 2 kg outside of Cohens'), I will just say 'I'm taking my doctor's advice'.

Anyway Lexie - you'll do it .... the longer it takes, the longer the opportunity to 'set in stone' good eating habits for the rest of your life ...:D

Kind regards

Taffy

WOW Deary Me that's fantastic! How have you kept it off? What is a normal day like for you eating-wise?

Irene

A Normal day eating: I still have yoghurt for breakfast everyday. I find if I have anything else I feel hungry all morning. If I am hungry midmorning I might have some fruit. Lunch is usually chicken and salad or a chicken and salad sandwich and dinner I eat what the family is having. If I want something in the arvo I usually have cheese and crackers or a fruit flavoured yoghurt(No fat). I tend to avoid really heavy carbs, Especially in the evening and I try not to eat after 7:30 pm. By following the maintenance guidlines that the cohens clinic gave me I have managed to keep it off and still enjoy the treats again. I can have cheesecake and chocolate mousse and dark chocolate and this doesn't affect my weight. As long as I follow the guidlines and don't do it every single day. I like to have a few drinks on a Sat. night and find I can do this too as long as I drink my drink with diet coke and don't drink pre-mixed cans. I do have my moments when I just have a splurge night and eat take away and Ice cream and whatever is put in front of me. (usually once a month at that certain time! ) But I know I can do this and just be good the next day or two and everything will go back to normal and I'll be fine. See, there is life after the program. And its great. You will love it. It is worth waiting and working for.The day that you can finally say to youself "Today I aim to maintain my weight, not lose it" Is a good day and you will be there before you know it. :)

Deary Me,
Thank you so much for that post, I often wonder what life after Cohens would be like and you have painted a really nice picture in my head..thank you.
Congrats on the fantastic loss and more imporatantly keeping it off for 6 months....WOW!

Deary Me, Thank you!

My last day on re-feed is Thursday and I'm so nervous about Friday onwards. Your post has made me feel very confident about the future

Irene

Dear Irene,
You are going to be fine! I know what you mean. I was really nervous on the first day off my program. It was very strange not having a piece of paper to tell me what to eat. Especially after reading it each day through the refeeding! My First day off I was really good all day and ate really healthy and then my husband took me out for tea and I ate chips with my meal, Boy these made me feel really sick and I was really lethargic and ready to go to sleep after these! I find that potatoes in big quantities really pack on weight overnight. Sometimes half a kg. My weight (I've heard this is normal) fluctuated quite a bit in the first few months. I kept weighing myself everyday and I would go up and down between 65 -67 and now I have realised that this is normal I am fine. My body will put on half a kg one day and be gone the next. So don't let this bother you if it happens. I also gain a kg everytime I get my period. Whether I have been good or not but this always goes within the first 2 days. So I say go out and experiment with food and see what food affects you. Some you will find will make you gain and some (that you think will) will make you lose. But my thought is you won't know until you try it. So if I want it I try it and see what it does. I wish you all the best. We definately can't go back to the old ways of eating that we used to have but we still get to enjoy things in moderation. And like I said if moderation doesn't work one night we just be good for a few days after! LOL. I can't wait to hear how you go.
From Deary me

Deary Me, That is really reassuring. I think I will be really scared to experiment but guess I will. It's very exciting. Long way to go yet but really looking forward to it. I think the only thing I miss is a glass of good, red wine, especially after a trying day at work. I don't crave it-it's more the idea of it. Cheers(without the wine!), Cate. Aahhh peppermint tea...

Deary Me, thank you for the vote of confidence and thank you for sharing your post -Cohen's story with us all.

Your posts have reassured alot of us

Irene :)

Hi byebyebabyfat and losing(Sharon) and everyone

Nice to hear from you two girls. Byebyebabyfat; looks like you're in the same weight frame as me however Cohens wants me down to 110-116 lbs(50kg-53kg) I guess it's because I'm only 5feet tall. I weighed myself thismorning and have gone down another 2 lbs frome 3 days ago. Yet on my official 4 week mark I was waiting for that time of month to arrive so I think that was the extra 2lbs. I emailed my weight loss to the Cohens people and they requested I have follow up blood work done. Hope my family doctor doesn't give me a hard time. The Ontario Health system is different here. We don't have to pay for bloodwork, but I do have to go see my doctor to get the blood work requisition.
To those of you who feel your wieght loss ohas slowed down-try going to the gym or going for brisk walks-at least an hour--you'll burn about 400-500cal just doing a fast walk on the treadmill(make sure you elevate the treadmill to about a 5 incline or mor--great glut workout and don't forget to stretch after a 5min warmup and then a great streatch after)
I'll talk to everyone soon-LOVE hearing everyone's progress.
My hubby is waiting for his plan to come in-it'll probably be here on Monday--anxious to see how different his meal plan is from mine.
Ciao friends

Thanks for letting us into life after Cohen's

:) Hi, Everyone Iam new to this whole forum thing. I just wish I had have discovered it earlier! You all sound like you are doing so well and should all be so proud of yourselves! Hello Deary me:)

First up congratulations on losing 40kg and keeping it off for 6 months.:p
You must look and feel so great. I have read through all your follow up posts and thanks for letting us into how you are managing post Cohen's.:D

I have my last day of refeed tomorrow and in one sense i am really looking forward to not weighing and being in such a restrictive plan and in the other i am aprehensive at leaving the safety zone of it.

I think I have a good idea of what foods will affect my weight and what will irritate me whilst doing refeed so that is good.

DM have you experienced any further weightloss after programme? I have opened a thread asking if anybody has experienced further weightloss after Cohen's and I have not recieved any replies. So I will be very interested in your reply.

Thanks again for your imput and well done once again.:p
I hope to be posting here in 6 months with my success like you.:D

Sam:)

Hi all

Well I know I promised not to deviate from plan this weekend with the bbq and all but my good intentions flew out the window when the snacks came out.

Yesterday I was down to 63.7kg but today I am up to 64.6kg.
I have my last refeed day tomorrow and I would be lying if I didn't admit that I am glad. I desperately need a break from Cohen's and have reached my goal weight now but I would have liked to reached 60kg. I am officially in a size 10 now - not bad considering i was a 16 before starting cohen's on the 11th dec 2006.

It's my 39th birthday next week and I can successfully declare I have lost my pregnancy weight at last. It really has been a struggle over the last 6 years...............but with Cohen's I have acheived this at last.
My goal in entering Cohen's was to to be slim and healthy by the time I turn 40 and I hope by this time next year I can still lay claim to this.

So to all of you who are on this journey remember it is achievable and to all of you who have been here with me from the start of my plan ..... THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT, KINDNESS & FRIENDSHIP - IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU AND THIS FORUM WELL WHAT CAN I SAY.....IT'S NICE TO KNOW THEIR ARE OTHERS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THIS SAME JOURNEY AND WHO GENUINELY UNDERSTAND.

Thanks for listening and have a wonderful week.
Sam:)

SAM -
it has been my pleasure being your friend on the forum you skinny minny you :)
im a little worried about you deviating throughout refeed! i remmeber a cohenihte did this a while back and it was hard for her to maintain her weight after cohens. have you spoken to clinic about it?
Im with you on the exersice/losing weight after cohens as i plan to get back into my gym routine - my consultant says that is definately a possilbilty you can go down dress sizes but try not to be to strict with diet as it can mess up the system - did that make any sense??
sorry to be a pain but i would HATE for you to go through that considering the effort you put in this bloody thing! :)
also happy birthday for next week! i hope you have a fantastic day and truly induldge in the things youve been missing since december (all in moderation of course!)

PS: MELLY P and NANS!!!! - how many days did your refeed go for!!??

LOTS of love caroline xx

Hi Caroline

Thanks for your kind words. I have 17 days on refeed -today will be my last.
I spoke to my consultant today and informed her of devaitions, apparently if you do not put more than 1kg on which I haven't then this is ok.

I think unintentionally I did stick within my refeed allowance which is why I only put on a few grams. Today I am down 200g so I think my stabilised weight will be around 63kg which i am happy with, my Cohens goal was 65kg.

The food on refeed is alot and is probably more then what I would eat but then before cohens I was missing meals and would have junk instead of a proper meals and snack on the kids leftovers or lunches.

I think it is going to be an adjustment period not to slip back into old habits so I will contine with this forum just to keep me on track and read all the new posts. And if I can offer any guidance.....then I'll will.

My clinic said to checkin with them in another month, but if I do come into strife to ring before ( they have been great).

The other important thing see mentioned is not to let yourself gain 3 or 5 kg over your goal weight, if you notice a significant weight gain in a short period of time try to nip the weight gain in the bud before this by cutting out carbs for a week and try and follow Cohen's plan for a week this should stabilise the blood sugar levels again.

Hope this helps and look forward to reading yours post......and congrat on your uni results your a clever cat.

Sam:)
