Re So Frustrated
I am living proof that weightloss slows down near the end of the cohens journey.
2 weeks ago (saturday) i was 61.2kg. Today, 2 weeks later....60.5kg. it has taken 2 weeks to loose 700g. I am so disheartened.
No deviations at all. Waters well above the 3L. Taking all my vitamins. Everything.
I have an official weigh in today (22 weeks), and im expecting to weigh in at about 62kg (after breakkie and such). Last weigh in (16 weeks) i was 65kg. So...3kg in 6 weeks? OMG

. I went from a steady 1kg a week pace, since week 2. and now....im doing less than half of that a week!
Ill post this afternoon to let you all know how it went.
Be strong girls!
Lots of love,
Lexie.
Hi Lexie
I totally understand your frustration ... I won't bore you with my details again (I've posted them before) - but basically I have been a slow kg loser from the very beginning ... but a high cm loser - go figure! After 16 weeks, I've now lost a total of 12.7 kg ... but 104 cm.
When I read on this forum how people are disappointed at 'only' losing 6 kg in the first month, I go "I wish!".
I had a 3-week weigh-in 2 days ago (had to bring it forward by a week due to work commitments) and I had lost a whole 1.76 kg ... I have had other 2-week weigh-ins where I have only lost 600 gm ... so I know how you feel.
It is very frustrating - particularly, if like me, you have a friend who started a week
after me on Cohens, has lost 17 kg and is now starting refeed ... but we are all very different and I am thrilled for her - she looks terrific!
I do believe one factor is whether or not you drink alcohol - from the comments on this forum (eg longing for a champers!), the majority seem to drink alcohol. Giving that up alone will have a major impact on weight loss - due to the calories involved. My friend I mentioned above admitted that in a weekend, she could easily drink an additional day's worth of calories - and she's not a slosh! A glass of white wine has approximately 180 calories - so it soon adds up.
I am not an alcohol drinker - so my body didn't experience that dramatic decrease in calorie intake. That would have to have an effect.
Now for the upside to all of this ... as basically every diet guru, book, specialist, etc, has ever said ...
the slower you lose weight, the greater the chance of being able to keep it off ...

Notwithstanding that Cohens maintains even with their 'rapid weight loss' you'll still keep it off (providing you change your eating habits and adopt the Cohen's eating methods) - it would still have to help if you lost the weight slowly ... :0)
... and every gm lost is a loss and should be celebrated ...
On another note - I went to my GP last week - I hadn't seen her since before starting Cohens. She was very pleased with my weight loss, but shocked at the weight range that had been set for me by Cohens, ie 48-51 kg (I'm 152 cm). She got out her BMI chart and said that she would be more than happy for me to stop at 58 kg (which would put me near the high end of the healthy BMI range) but I insisted on wanting to get to 55 kg. She has strictly said she does not want me under 55 kg. She's been my doctor (and a fantastic one at that) since 1989 - she's only a couple of years older than me so isn't 'out of touch' and knew about the Cohens program - and so I've decided to heed her advice. I've re-set my ticker to a goal weight of 55 kg and if Cohens try to insist for me to achieve their goal weight (which they have tried with another friend of mine who looked scrawny and knew from previous experience what was her 'natural weight' - which was only 2 kg outside of Cohens'), I will just say 'I'm taking my doctor's advice'.
Anyway Lexie - you'll do it .... the longer it takes, the longer the opportunity to 'set in stone' good eating habits for the rest of your life ...
Kind regards
Taffy
