Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi everyone,
I have been trying to stay out of the great weighing debate, but thought I should just drop in to put in my two bobs worth. As everyone knows, I am a compulsive weigher and always have been and always will be, and yes I have suffered from many different eating disorders (many of which still plague me). The main thing I wanted to say was that on a previous forum we had (before this one), we had a couple of people who continually came on "voicing" their opinions and shouting down anyone who didn't agree with them. The forum became quite heated, and it wasn't long before the moderators intervened and shut down the forum. When I started this forum, I wanted to create a calm and enthusiastic place for people to come and motivate one another and help one another. At the end of the day, does it REALLY MATTER if we weigh every day, or once a week, or once a month, WHO CARES. I certainly don't and I'm sure most people on here couldn't give two hoots what the next person does, so why don't we all agree to disagree and drop the whole subject of how often people weigh.
Also I'm sure if you don't want to read someones posts, you can block them and then (hopefully) you won't have to see what they have written.
Hopefully we can get this forum back to the great place that it should be and if we all don't respond to any posts that are negative, then hopefully no one will post negative things.
Have a great day all.
Take care

Meeting for Coffee

Open Invitation
A few of us will be meeting for Coffee at Gloria Jeans on Bribie Island tomorrow (Tuesday) @ 10.30am.
Anyone who out the who lives close by and who wants to join us are most welcome to come along...maybe we will see you there!

P.S. I have started a new "Meeting For Coffee" thread where we can post times/dates of future get togethers...

Hi Everyone,
The great thing about forums is you get to see something from another's point of view. I am rarely offended by what people post (unless it's racist, etc). That's the power of communication. Where would we all be without this forum? For people like myself who are past their contract stage and no longer have the support of a consultant - this forum is the only place to be! I would not have gotten through Cohen's the first time if it hadn't been for the support and ideas voiced by the other girls (sorry Lessfatty - there were no boys back then!) and I am even more reliant this time around.

Lets all keep up the good work and the positive vibe. :D

Thanks to all those people who share the photos with us. I just love to see them! I'll try and dig up some of mine once I'm done. I keep one of my older ones (from 77 kilos) just to remind me of where I don't want to end up again.

I have a bad tummy ache today :(

Hi everyone
You are all doing so well and are so inspiring to us all. I'm going to changethe subject totally away from the weighing issue (I'm a daily weigher myself - like the motivation).

I was reading the back of the Salada packet and looked at the sodium levels. There are 1190mg/100g which might explain why I seem to be retaining more water than I was when I was using the Paradise Lights. The Nabisco Premiums only have 505mg/100g - less than half. I think I'll try changing and see if it makes a difference.

Has anyone else noticed a difference since stopping the Paradise Lights??

Dizzy

Back to the real issues!

G'day Everyone,:)

Hope you are all well. In the midst of "weighing rage" I think we all overlooked some really valuable efforts made by people. So can I just say on behalf of all of us, a big,fat (need a better word!) WELL DONE to...

Heavenlylamb- for avoiding temptation and reaching the magical halfway mark. Amazing.

Lonniecee- enjoy the new sizes! You know they are only going to keep shrinking. Yippee! It is very exciting and worth every missed slice of bread or something equally useless!

Myshy- Sounds like your head is in the right place. Well done on coping with all of the functions you seem to handle it so maturely and sensibly. A good lesson for us all!

Wildskyz- Holy photos! You look fantastic. I would never have believed that 10 kilos could make such a difference. You look younger as well. Congratulations - can't wait to be updated with the newer and newer you!

Dreamer- Wow! 17kilos gone so far. Well done to you. I bet you feel great.

Brieziel- I wanna fake tan too! I do not doubt for a minute that you look HOT HOT HOT! Way to go lady!

Lilsaintly- Congrats on the 3kilos gone. You've not long to go now. Wont it be great to survive a hot summer as a healthy thin person??? I know I am looking forward to it.

Jewls- How's the wee patient! You are nothing less than inspirational. To keep on going whist suffering as you have - thanks. You're great! And look how much you've lost!!! Amazing.

LessFatty- How are you my boy! How often do I do it? Well, a hell of a lot more now that the weight's gone....Oh, you mean weighing!!! Good one - interesting poll results. Keep us laughing please!

Narn873- REFEED! That's the light at the end of the tunnel! You've made it! WOW! Hope it all goes well. Make sure you keep us posted.

Jody- Lessofme- Can I say I have a secret crush on you!!! (Oh God, I'm joking people - don't think I am an insane weirdo! Although...) What I mean is that I love that you are still hanging around inspiring us and guiding us along the way. You did such an amazing job. I can't begin to tell you how much help you have been. I would love to do coffee but I am on the south side of Brissie and stuck at home with three little ones. I'm not game to take them out! So, I hope you ladies have a nice time.

IchooseLife - Great effort on the 3.5kilos in a week. I'm yet to accomplish such a drastic result. You should feel very proud of yourself! Well done.

Let me just say, that you are all amazing people doing a huge life changing assignment. I think we should all be very pleased with ourselves!

I'll post later..baby is screaming. So selfish - doesn't she know I'm busy!!!:D
Bye for now.

4 Week Weigh in!

Hi Everyone

Had my 4 week weigh in today and was dissappointed to be told that I had lost less than average! :(

I know it is not the right way to think but I am wondering how much worse could it have been if I had totally blown out at the party that we went to on Saturday night rather just had the "Cohen" friendly items??? I have been very good - no deviations and still below average!!!;)

I thought that I was doing OK. Am getting comments from all the my family and friends and even though I can't see it yet - I can feel it in my clothes are loose and by the fact that I had to buy a new smaller bra!!! Who ever thought there could be such excitement over needing a single D size!:p

Does the rate of loss correspond at all with the amount you have to lose?

Janine:(

Herm well done. I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed but it is still a huge loss. On my information day I was told that the average was between 7 and ?15. It can be disheartening but chin up, we all lose at a different rate. My 2nd 4 weeks wasn't great and no deviations other than the crackers (wasn't aware of the change in Paradise Lites) and then more recently the light grated mozarella.
After 4 weeks you are still lighter and healthier than you were to start. Best wishes for a great 2nd weeks.:)

Hi all,
Have been on the Cohen's journey for quite awhile now and have lost 23kgs but haven't posted for some time even though I have been reading all the posts. Wow been interesting over the last few days. Everyone IS different and relates to things in a different manner which makes for interesting reading. Keep up the good work, whichever way works for you.
I have come to a bit of a stumbling block over the last 4 weeks. Guess with everyone telling me WOW, don't you look good, I seem to think it's ok if I don't lose anymore, which of course if bunkin, I still have 8 kg's to get rid of. Never mind, a friend has decided to join also so now we can do it together and that should keep me motivated.
Had a 40th school reunion (that should give you a good indication of my age) last weekend and it was a blast. Most of the people didn't know I'd lost weight as I hadn't seen them since our last reunion which was 19yrs ago, but my 5 closest school buddies, who I hadn't seen since starting this and were all slimmer than me were really gorgeous and made me feel pretty special. Had me trying on their clothes and then saying WOW you're smaller than me. It was a blast. I had bought new clothes for the dinner, size 8 slacks and size 14 top (why does the top half take longer to lose weight), and then a new outfit for the brunch on Sunday, size 12 cropped pants and 12 top. Just goes to show how clothes from different shops/makers can vary.
Will try and read the posts every day or at least every second day so that I can stay motivated but it sure will be harder coming up to the silly season with all the different socialising that comes along.

the old me Where are you girlfriend and what's been happening in your life? Guess you are truly into refeed by now. Drop us a line please.:)

lizzi Congratulations, saw where you were doing your refeed, drop us a line to get us all moving towards that goal again. I knew you would get there before me. Oh am I ever the green eyed monster. Well done.

MagicLea You are just like me, seen to have dropped off the planet. Still haven't managed to catch up for that cuppa but will get together one day soon. How is it all going for you?;)

To all the newbies well done on joining the "Lifestyle" and keep on Keeping On.

Cheers for now.:D

narn873 Where in the SW are you? I'm in Gelorup. Know what you mean about shopping for clothes. Get's quite disheartening until suddenly you're to the stage where all your old clothes start falling down around your ankles He He. Look around at the people your age walking down the steet and get an idea of what you like and then go to the appropriate stores for your age group, maybe Mikala Lange (might be a bit too old) Noni B, Millers. I actually bought a new top in Rockmans, which I had never been into before. As you can imagine it is quite a liberating feeling being able to just pop into any old store and buy something new. You will get there, don"t be discouraged.
Cheers.

oh dear...

:(Dear all,

I need to let it out otherwise I don't think I can sleep peacefully tonight.

As I had more activity today, I was hungrier than usual! Furthermore, it was a cold and rainy day and that made me hungrier! And I deviated! I ate something that was forbidden. Now I feel totally horrid and guilty.

Worse, I'm taking the blood test tomorrow. I really hope the blood test turns out ok. I've been trying very hard to be a good girl. It's just that the dish that my mum cooked today was too nice-smelling to resist. Argh!

I hope I will have a better day tomorrow. Looks like I need to whip out more preventive measures.

I also hope that my weight loss is not slowed down.

Just 7 more kg to go.... Argh!!!

newlife: Dun kept thinking abt that deviation, wats done cannot be undone. U have come so far and you are so near. If it make you feel any better, you were the one who got me started on this program coz of your post on BBW which inspired me to do research and went for the talk and I bet alot of Singaporeans here too were inspired by you. Had just read your blog and I remember you said that you feel beautiful, so another 7kg and that would make you even more beautiful. Dun give up at this point of time~! Ganbatte ne p(^-^)q

come on newlife...

If you knew you could not fail and you will still lose this week, I'm sure you wouldn't feel so guilty. I just had a binge on Sunday and I won't weigh until next tuesday which is my Cohen 12 week weigh in/blood tests. I'm being really good until then...I know I'll undo the damage done.:D

So long as you're back on track...you'll be fine and keep losing:)

Anybody have any tips on ways to reduce cellulite? I have it on the back of my thighs and am looking for some ways to reduce its appearance.

thanks all

Dear all,

Thank you for your encouragement! This is another day of busy activity and I really hope I can pull through this day. Somehow, staying at home and not going out seems to make it easier not to deviate...

My department is having an office lunch on Thursday. I'm going to try to create some reasons to give it a miss. Hope the boss will understand.

I'm letting go of what happened yesterday, going to down a cup of green tea, head for my blood test and do my necessary stuff at work today. I'm going to do all it takes to be a good girl today. =)

Think positive. And yes, I'm going to weigh myself next week, not anytime this week! =)

Keep going all... Perseverance is the key. Hang in there!

Herm 7kg is great. You should just focus on the great comments you are getting. If your clothes feel loose then GREAT!! I hardly lost any weight this week but I lost 5.5cm so I figure the rest will follow. GOOD WORK!! STAY POSITIVE!! You are doing great!

Look at it this way.........youre almost half way!! :)

ichooselife WELL DONE!! Is that 12kg in 2 weeks, WOW

I have been good for the past few days but my weight remains... not going down as what I have expected but i am sure if i stick to it I will continue to lose the weight that i am supposed to lose...
newlife, do not worry too much.. last 7KG and i am sure you will lose it fast without you realising it... you have come a long way... I am waiting for the day to say, "hey, I only have the last ___kg"... you have done really well!!!
Lets all stay focused and stick to it!!! :D

OOooohhhh dammnn! I knew that cellulite never goes away, but still reality sux :( lol. Looks like boardshorts for life:eek:

cellulite

Don't worry about cellulite!! i'm a 20 year old who HAD it and am now losing it slowly. but don't despair, some 50 year old ladies i know who did cohen's also lost theirs.

and if all else fails, think this way: nicole kidman & mischa barton have cellulite, too. we're all human

on a side note, i've been on cohen's for 10 weeks now the only thing i find isn't losing cm is my arms - does anyone else have this problem?

leni

Aww kind words eleni_chrys. I was just looking at my 'before' photos and never realised how much celulite i actually had and promted me to ask. I use a product called Bio-Oil (but im not religious with it like i should be), i'll suppose ill have to wait until i reach "ideal" weight and see what happens. I cant wait to start up a gym/health routine when im off the program. MAINTANCE BABY:D, maybe then a little gradual toning and fitness improvement will make it a little less noticeable *fingers crossed*

Don't forget that because your arms are much smaller than the rest of you, the cm loss will also be smaller. If you put a tape around your arm at the length that it was previously, you may be surprised at how much 1 or 2cm loss is.
Also check that you're measuring from the same spot each time and not moving the tape!
