Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a great weekend. Don't they fly?
I am pleased to be able to report in on my weekend activities that were set meal/lots of drink type functions.

1. Law Dinner - French restuarant. Entree - I skipped it because it was seafood (easy as I am not a fan), Main Meal - I broke with protocol and asked on the night if I could just have a salad. No problems!! It did have a few walnuts in it which I ate but I figured that wasn't too bad as I requested no protein in a meat form. I figured if I was worried I could eat an egg when I got home. Dessert - I asked for the brandy basket - no cream or ice cream. I did however eat the basket. It was my one intentional deviation for the night. Had drunk 2 litres of water during the day and probably another 2 during the night.

Saturday - no movement in the scales either way - very pleased with that.

Today - wedding. I had decided that I would allow 1 deviation again today. Breakfast was cohens. Wedding was early morning, but I have some health issues with my son and we decided to leave the wedding before the cruise. We missed the ferry by 5 minutes and decided to stay in Sorrento for coffee & cake. I had a latte and 1/2 piece of vanilla slice. Dinner cohens. Lots of water.

I am guessing my 2 deviations will cost me but I am prepared for it. Back on the wagon tommorow.

I am glad there have been a few posts regarding the daily weighing. Even sticking with this diet 100% I still find my weight loss is slow and I work damn hard for every gram I lose. I used to be a habitual scale hopper (up to 10 times a day) but have managed to get that down to once a day. I am thrilled when I see a 100 gram lose hence the posts. More power to the people who can just weigh once a month - I'm just not one of them.

I had lots of positive comments at the wedding which was a nice way to end the weekend!

Hope you all have a great week!

My pics

Hi All,

Sorry I didnt get to upload my pics on Friday but had Billy Joel Concert and then worked all weekend.

But, better late than never. Theyre truly glamourous ;) , NOT, but I just figure it may give some people who are thinking about joining an idea on how fast the weight loss and inch/cm loss is on Cohens. The first pic was taken day 4 of the diet, and the second was taken day 32. 4 weeks in between pics. 42cms less of me. I know theres a lot lot more to be lost, but hey, I dont know any other weight loss program that works any quicker. Im even slimmer again since the 2nd pic was taken.

Anywho, hope it gives someone, even 1 person a little inspiration.

Hope all are feeling lighter.

Cheers, Regina:D

WOW WIldskyz you have inspired me. I took my photo last Wednesday at the end of week 1 in nicks anda bra and will do so each Wednesday night until I'm done, in the hope it will inspire me seeing my own shrinkage. But boy 10kg off you is very noticeable WAY TO GO you have done an amazing job :)

If you can't stop being critical and negative. please don't post as it brings many of us down.
We are all here to support each other as we are all heading towards the same goal. There are many people offended here and keep PMing me. So please try and be supportive and stop pointing the finger.
I don't mean to sound harsh, I'm just a little sick of reading posts from people who think they know more than everyone else.

And by the way I havn't deviated once in 6 weeks! and I have never had a eating disorder or an obbssesive personality disorder.

For the daily weighers... I'm a bit confused.
I'm not having a go by the way - (in the end you do what you do) - and for those getting a little offended - it was not my intention. I believe (and I'm entitled to my opinion as you are getting on the scales everyday) you are being boring and compulsive.

If you follow this diet - no matter what combination of foods that are on the list - you are guaranteed weight loss. It does not matter what combination of food you take, or the way you chew it it - the foods we are allowed to eat are our medicine. You shouldn't be monitoring these intakes as it's not until refeed when you start figuring out whether bread or the other things not allowed are a good or bad thing for your body.

Hi Dreamer,
Because I eat out probably 2-3 times a week, it means that I'm not "strictly" following the diet in those situations. I try to choose the correct foods, most of the time, but the amounts are clearly guess work. So, I do need to keep vigilant to ensure that I'm not overdoing it. I find then that by increasing my fish intake, rather than other red meats, I can balance out the week.
I would also lose heart quicker if I don't see the numbers going down. For me, its not an obsession at all. Apart from overeating, I've never had an eating disorder or any type of obsession with food, so I don't feel that the daily weighing does anything apart from focus me on the job at hand. I don't get excited about the 100 or 200 grams losses. I'm looking for general trends.
My concern would be that if I were only weighing monthly, I would cheat regularly during the first 3 weeks of the month and then try to eat well in the last week so that my weigh in was good! (I know because I follow the same trend with my blood tests!! I nearly always deviate BADLY once I have had my blood test! and I'm much more cautious about deviating in the week before my blood test). By weighing daily, I have regular accountability to myself to keep on track and I can see the consequences when I don't.
I have talked to my consultant about it.... She has no problem with it in my situation. and to be honest, even if she did, I would still weigh daily........ Rebellious, I guess!
BTW, I'm not at all offended by you not wanting me to weigh daily. It does say that I shouldn't in my program!! But I find it suits me better to weigh daily and keep an eye on whats going on.

Dreamer, I think its a bit hard for ones to accept you arent having a go at them when throughout your post they see "you" are doing this "you" are doing that. Not much reference to yourself. Some of us have done this program extremely successfully before, and actually know what we are doing. We appreciate you are trying to help in your own way. I think if someone asks "what do you think of me weighing everyday, do you think I should stop" then an opinion is warranted. Look at the tickers of these people. Its working. They are happy, why change that? Hearing constant critiscm can be very boring too.

Anyway, Wildskyz very impressive. And I'm very envious you went to see Billy Joel. That would have been awesome.

Hmmmmm

Good Morning,

I have been daily reading the posts daily for a while now and the fact is MellyP that you are not always going to agree with what everyone says. The idea of a forum is that people can have an opinion. You take it or leave it. We are all in the same boat ......aren't we? In that we are All trying to lose weight. I have reread what Dreamer wrote and I could not see anything damaging that would make me lose motivation or feel less of myself. Surely you are not that thin skinned.......

Basically what I am saying is take the advise and encouragement that you feel works for you and discard what doesn't.

I have been watching everyone's weight loss and overall you are ALL doing so well. After all you are all losing weight and as we are all individuals we lose it at different rates or have different situations in our lives that may slow the loss.

But we all know that if we stick to the program we will lose weight.

With that said, I have been thoroughly enjoying your posts and recipes and WE should all be very proud of what we have accomplished. We all weigh less than we did a month, week or day ago .....right?

Keep Smiling

Heavenly lamb i'm in sales too.... maybe there's a direct corrolation between weigh in and career! He he he. i also like and thrive on the accountability and the achievement (there goes the SALES mentality!!!!).

i don't deviate and am absolutely LOVING Cohen's, i don't need to weigh every day (not compulsive....) but i do like to look every couple of days to once a week. Monthly would just shit me off, although i would get a big achievement at the end, i would get really ansy and stress about it in the mean time!
(I have a board at work where i keep track of my profit and sales for the month, which i update religiously and can tell at any point in time wether i'm on track or not.)
I Know i will lose weight whether i look at the scales or not, but i find it really pleasurable.

"The Cohens handbook says not to weigh yourself more than once a month. There is a reason for this. Dr Cohen wouldn't just put that in there to fill some space. I think you are lining yourself up for another form of eating disorder by obsessing over the weight you are losing."

I think Dr Cohen wants us to weigh monthly cause he knows the body goes in a weight loss cycle and that alot of people (but i'm not one of them) do get disillusioned if they don't see a constant steady loss. Whereas if you only weigh monthly you will ALWAYS SEE A SUBSTANSIONAL LOSS! (which helps keep you on track). By saying we should only weigh monthly he is minimising the risk of people falling off the wagon, I don't think he thinks we will all get eating disorders because of it and it is certainly not "Gospel". My consultant say's it varies depending on the type of person you are and you will do what works for you. if it works then it is all good. If it dosen't then change it!!!!
Dreamer ultimately it doesn't matter if we weigh or not weigh or when we weigh. good on you for trying to motivate every one to go for long times with out weighing, but for many it is their key to their success, or the instigation of their failure.
Ultimately we are all here for the same thing, to lose weight, improve our health and well being, to get our lives back, increase our self confidence and look DAMN SEXY!!! so please just smile and nod and don't lecture those who weigh more than once a month, this is a support thread not a lecture on weighing practices.

I choose Life in regards to clothes sizes it's really hard to put size and weight together. when i was 106kg i fitted into a size 18 (just) i am now at 90kg and 16's are getting too loose but i fit ALL size 16's and only some 14's. (i just brought a new bra and it's a 14DD woo hoo!!! - the last one i brought in was a 16E!) i'm 164cm's and my body shape is an hourglass. when i last weighed 74 kg i was a size 12-14, -thats a big difference in weight (16kg) but not such a variation in size. i heard somewhere that 5kg = a dress size, but for me it is closer to 10kg = 1 dress size, so i don't know how accurate the 5kg thing is. i would imagine it varies depending on your body type.
Have a wonderfull day every one, you are all doing really really well, keep those goals happening - i just got my spray tan, and darn it i feel HOT HOT HOT!!!!!

Thanks Briezel. Just wanted to get an idea of how far off a size 10 I am .... a ways so far hehe

Have a great day everyone.

I'm going to try a few more recipes from the Cohens' website this wee, try to vary my meals a bit. Almost two weeks and only 1 deviation ( 5 grams of vegemite!). Feeling a bit more energised this morning and hoping it stays that way.

I don't agree with the following but in all this is a forum to post you thoughts i just feel that putting eating disorders into the mix of this forum was not at all called for. Yes some users have in the past admitted problems with weight and food and i myself was completely overweight but i think it is totally up to the person getting on the scales. I am a frequent weigher and so is my hubby, i actually like the fact i can see it moving, it called MOTIVATION. But to all those that have the will power to hold off weighing for a month CONGRADULATIONS but that ain't me.

And another fact that i have noted in the following quote is... It does not matter the combinations of food... Well i beg to differ...i have done a few trial and errors and i have found that if i want to have my orange as my fruit allowance i have to have it with breakfast or lunch as if i have it as my sweets i actually gain weight. Now i have tried this several time at different days throughout the month and guess what... ALWAYS THE SAME RESULT>>> HEAVIER.

Extract from Dreamers post:

If you follow this diet - no matter what combination of foods that are on the list - you are guaranteed weight loss. It does not matter what combination of food you take, or the way you chew it it - the foods we are allowed to eat are our medicine. You shouldn't be monitoring these intakes as it's not until refeed when you start figuring out whether bread or the other things not allowed are a good or bad thing for your body.

You are really not helping your mindset by watching every gram drop off. Of course losing weight is a positive - of course seeing the numbers go down is a great thing. But if you are doing everything right, then you will lose weight -easy as.
The Cohens handbook says not to weigh yourself more than once a month. There is a reason for this. Dr Cohen wouldn't just put that in there to fill some space. I think you are lining yourself up for another form of eating disorder by obsessing over the weight you are losing

Extract from Dreamers Post (END)

Look i have now problems with people voiceing their opinions and we are not thin skinned as some have labled, we have had to put up with a lot being overweight, but i honestly thought coming onto this forum people wouldn't have bought the topic of eating disorders up by us wanting to manage our weight and notice the scales moving in the right direction. All of us on here are supposed to giving each other support not trying to turn people of the forum...

Lets all try to get along with one another again... The old forum with the old members worked perfectly... What has gone so wrong?
I have been a member of this for 6 months and this is the first time i feel as though the spirit of what RJM set up has been totally destroyed.

If anyone has any complaints with anything that i have wrote please don't hesitate to message me and we can discuss this further.

Have a great cohens day to all! :)

Whoo Hooo

Hello Everyone,

I am down 3 kilos!!! I held off my daily weighing for a couple of days and nearly fell over when I went on and saw a 3 kilo drop.

Well I have had a few deviations - couple of glasses of red (but hey you are really asking toooo too much Dr Cohen if you can get me to drop off my red wine!!) but i promise to make a concerted effort to go a week without a red starting right now :p I also went out for lunch and chose the salad bar which was the best Ii could do in a bad situation.

I went the pub with some friends yesterday and when I walked in their jaws dropped. The positive response from everyone had me walking on air. I think becasue I chose to make an effort with my hair and clothes and was wearing these great jeans that I didn't have the gut to wear before. (The outside thigh buldge has nearly disappeared!)

My total weighloss since starting Cohens is 6 kilos which is alot for me as I didn't have too much to lose so it has really shown.

It is great to read the posts from the last couple of days - passionate people aren't we. :) And it has also been interseting hearing other people's point of views.

Mermaid Sister - I like the idea you had in writing a list of the reasons you wanted to lose weight - what a great motivational tool. well done. I am going to do it too.

Cheers

Have a great day everyone :p

motivation is the key

After not reading for a few days it certainly has exploded into a negative vibe on this forum. Thanks to all the people who put forward their own opinion. This is mind ~ you need to do what is right for you, we are all individuals and what works for one isn't necessarily right for the other. I can see the good intensions that were conveyed and the encouragement given to not weight everyday but that what work for YOU. I didn't think i would weigh everyday but sometimes i do and it does give me motivation if there is a loss or not. If there is i'm ecctatic to be less if there isn't any i get motivation to change around my eating pattern to make it more varied try something different (ie yoghurt every 2nd day or cheese instead of egg) Life can be hard enough without pointing figures or take comments to heart. So my suggestion is to just live and enjoy each day knowing that our programs are working regardless if we get on that scale everyday. I have faith that everyone is doing their best & really shine.

Well that enough of that ~ i thought you all would like to know that i am feeling much better. The ankle is in a boot and finally starting to heal well. Still a little swollen but the body is back to normal well as normal as you can be on crutches. I still have bruises apprearing but the comfrey cream (thankyou heavenly lamb for suggesting it) is working well to help them disappear. I have been concerned about my own weightloss due to not moving around as much but Thank the Lord i sort of weighed myself (tricky to do) on Saturday and its not a true reading i know but it is still a blessing 85.3kg down from 120.6. I'm stoked

Well have a blessing of a day i'm off to eat lunch and drink water. Welcome to real life, I've come to realise it's not a game

I have been involved with several long term forums.. one I've been with for over 9 years, and we are still going strong! But, in my experience, there is always a "prickly" stage, where people move from always being polite, to beginning to be confident enough to express their opinions.
So, I see this stage as being quite normal, just like normal friendships! We have conflicts and differences of opinions at times.
Its actually what ends up taking a forum from being OK to being a great forum where you feel that you actually know the people you are talking to.

So, don't be discouraged! The forum is just growing and developing and becoming more honest.

Oh my God......size 12 jeans

Morning everyone:)

Hopefully on a inspiring note for anyone that needs a boost today........i have just ordered my "next Stage" (that horrid re-F--d word) I'm so excited. I struggled BIG time with the last couple of kilo's and didnt think i would get to this day....but i did.

My daughter and i went to Perth on Saturday for wot was to be a HUGE shopping spree for both of us (she is 12 and her body is changing and no longer can go to the girl section), this was going to be abig challenge as neither of us a big fans of clothes shopping:D , but we made it through the day with out to many arguments. She cam home with alot more bags than i did, i was a little disappointed because i had saved money for this purpose and SOOOOOOOO badly need work clothes, BUT is not lost as i was able to buy a pair of size ~~~~~~12~~~~~~~ jeans for $20 at Just Jeans - bargain.

I tried on so many different styles and clothes, but i was really confused on what i should buy being the other side of 36 and i have this thing about "mutton dressing as lamb" if you know what i mean.

Hope everyone has a great day and keeps on losing those kilos:)

Wildskyz you look awesome. What a fantasic job you have done!! I havent taken a photo of myself yet ( since I started) so maybe I should - that is soooooo motivating. Well done!

I think we started around the same time so to see your photos is so inspiring, I'm off to take a photo

Narn congratulations, a job well done. Size 12...oooooooh. Can hardly wait to get there myself.
Lilsaintly what a lovely surprise for you.
Wildskyz such a difference with that weight gone, why don't we see it when it is going on??
Jewls trying to picture weighing with a plaster on, interesting, keep up the great work nonetheless.
:) :) :)
