Club... 250-300?

Its Monday morning, and I just did my first of my 3 day weigh ins. I am down a little, so I'm optimistic that I'll lose at least a little this week.

Thanks @alligatorob
I went back up a few pounds today, back over 262-3. I don't feel like recording it. I got sick and went to sleep right after dinner with a full stomach. Now I woke up bloated as a result and my weight is up a few pounds.

Tuesday morning and it looks like I should be down a couple of pounds this week, we'll see.

Kyle, those pounds won't last, you may already be back below 260, if not you will be soon.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck moment, Kyle. I hope the sickness, whatever it was, has gone now, and you can get the eat/sleep pattern working for you again. All the best with it!

Good for you, Rob - your progress really is great to watch! :)

264 this morning, down 56 lbs, 4 full stone now! I feel good, and that back door is getting easier to see every day.

I like the stone as a weight unit, its not something we use in the US, I picked it up here. Something about it that just makes sense. Our yard is full of rocks, I've been thinking about weighing a few to find a stone that weighs a stone. In some ways I prefer the imperial system, the units are easier to relate to. However as an engineer I can certainly appreciate metric, it is more logical.

I like the stone as a unit too, Rob, but only for estimating human weight. It's a quick way to get a "feel" for how big a person is, and the unit size is a good size for quick understanding of a person's weight/size - that is, difference of one unit between (say) fifteen and fourteen stone is much more telling than the difference of one unit in pounds or even kilos. It's analogous to how I feel that ounces and cups are a useful size for measuring cooking things as opposed to the unit size of grams, which is too fiddly-small to suit what's being measured, when talking in round terms, though of course grams - the unit-size - fits better when measuring things like medicines, when small differences are important.

I'm at 264.6. So much for running ahead. It's not a race, right? The universe will make all this effort work for me.

No not really a race, and so long as we are headed in the right direction no one loses, all win. That said my money is on you to get out of this place before I do. You weight too often to expect weight loss every time, too much variability. You are doing well my friend, keep it up.

I was able to get down to 259.2 again. It reached 259 a few days ago but I spiked up for a few days. I have realized that portion control at dinner really affects my weight loss. If I stuff myself at dinner it makes me gain weight inevitably, even if I skip breakfast and have a salad for lunch. So I really need to focus when it comes to dinner time, especially when I am tired and feeling ravenous. That hunger DOES NOT justify stuffing myself. The hunger DOES get resolved with a normal amount of food. No stuffing necessary. I am hopeful that this focus will help a lot.

Really good about getting down into the 250s again - hope the number gives you a boost that you're heading in the right direction. Of course there's minor ups and downs, but so long as the overall trend is going your way, you're good!
And yes, that seems to be a general finding - that food eaten at night, especially late at night, is the food which has the most impact on weight. It's awkward in our culture, because evening meal tends to be the one which has the most emphasis as socialising and family bonding time, and both of those are really important.

Its Monday, first day of my weigh in process, It looks like I may be down a little, but the weekend was pretty hard working so I know I may go up a little as I get back into my usual routine. So I am not sure.

You are still well in the lead Kyle, good for you.

Thanks @alligatorob . I was able to lose 1 lb. yesterday. I was feeling sick and normally would have shot up over 260 (260-264), but I saw it coming and decided to skip dinner. I am getting really tired of my weight shooting up a few pounds every time I get a little sick. I want out of this club. So now I am at 258.2. I really really want to not go back up over 260 again. When I have more consistant weigth loss, it helps motivate me. The weight jumping around really makes me feel powerless and gets me down.

Kyle, you are doing fine, weight jumping up and down is perfectly normal what matters is the trend and yours is clearly down. And down at a pretty good pace, faster than mine. I know that weight fluctuations can be disconcerting. Sometimes it is for me, like this morning the second day in my official weigh in process, I am up a bit from yesterday and if I don't go down tomorrow I will have zero loss this week. Not something I am real happy about, but I have been weighing regularly long enough to know I am losing weight and it will work itself out. Hang in there, I am sure you will be out the door of this place before I am.

I know it's not everything, but I am trying to be highly motivated. And it's hard to get motivated when you don't see results. I think I need to calm down more and get more rest. My life is just too fast paced lately.

Kyle, Calming down and getting more rest is always a good idea.

One thing I have been doing is trying to figure out what causes my weight fluctuations. Water has a lot to do with it, water retention and drinking water. Drinking a lot of water is good for you, but it also adds weight in the short term. Knowing that and thinking about it helps me, being able to attribute weight gain or lack of loss to water feels better. Other things like clothing can make a difference I weigh myself in various states of dress and have seen as much as 5 lbs change as a result. The other thing that's not as pleasant to talk about are the solids in your digestive system. Dieting seems to give me a bit of constipation, where I am in that cycle can make a difference of a couple of pounds. The way I deal with this is weighing often and trying to understand the fluctuations. That works for me, but I think more of the folks here just try not to weigh very often, maybe once a week or even less. That is also a good approach, the fluctuations are less obvious in the long run.

Staying motivated is a good thing, you just need to figure out how to best do it, and I think you are. You are doing fine.

263, down 1 lb this week. I wish it had been more, but I am still headed in the right direction. Still headed for the clubhouse door!

Down to 255 today. Really getting excited to cross the threshhold into the 240s. 240s? What? Never imagined I would get back down here, honestly. Loving the way my clothes fit now. Go @alligatorob ! You can do it!

Its Monday and I did the first of my weigh ins. Looks like I may be down this week, no chance of catching Kyle, but I should be down. Will see what Wednesday brings.
