Chris B's Weekly Weigh-in

I made it to the gym again last night! My back was really sore, so I didn't do any weights, just cardio. Last night I was still pretty sore, so my wife advised that I take a night off from the gym. And thats probably a wise decision.

We had salad, grilled chicken, and asparagus for dinner last night. So far so good for this week. :D

Good going on getting to the gym. And take a break (or some ibuprofen) I'm sure things will be back to normal soon. Some times we dont exercise the right way so we get strained in areas such as the back. I do that alot. Your dinner for last night looks great, I LUV asparagus.
I'll check in later :) Cabana

Nothing wrong with taking a night off. I think our bodies need that break anyway. I take one day off a week. Even then there are nights where I don't end up doing quite the excercise I had planned. I want to push myself, but at the same time, I don't want to over do it as well. I always worry that if I am too gun-ho about this whole thing, I will end up burning myself out, and quitting altogether. Slow and steady wins the race. (or at least I hope it does. lol. )

Hang in there and keep up the great work! :)

Chris, you're doing great!! I agree with Fluff. A night off won't hurt ya :) Its when one turns into two or three that's the problem. hehehehe Hope your back sets itself to rights soon. Keep up the good work :D

Well, I took the night off from exercise, I still ate well though. I do feel alot better this morning -- most of the soreness is gone. I kept wanting to do *something* though, like floor exercises, dumbells, or something -- but I didn't, I just rested.

Its weird though, because I've never had this kind of drive. Normally I would LOVE to have a day off from exercise, but I kept having this constant feeling that I should be doing something.

Oh well, its back to the gym this evening, so I'll just keep on chuggin'. ;)

Chris, you really are doing great! :) But it is wise to take a day to recover. (more if you've pulled or strained muscles). Your body needs that break, believe it or not. :) I know how exercise can "tug at you" when you take a day off. I experienced that last Sunday, all day long I felt that I should of been going to the gym or something. But like you I rested! :) My body did thank me later. So you're doing great.. and good for you to have that attitude. Not everyone gets bitten by the gym bug! :D

Well, guess what? That's how we know that were going to make it. Its just something inside, some little switch that turned on and we cant turn it off very easily. Isnt it great!

Good luck on your workout tonight!
And, make good choices! (Food choices that is...:) )
Cabana:D

I am glad that you enjoyed your night off from the gym. :) Your body just probably needed that break. That nagging feeling you were having is probably your acceptance of this being more about making a lifestyle change than just a quick fix, and thats great! Its that kind of determination and motivation that will carry you through the long run. Keep up the great work!! :)

Wow, thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate your support! You guys are holding me accountable and really helping me to achieve my goals. And like Fluff said, I don't see this as a diet, its a lifestyle change.

Another day in the books! I did well yesterday. I had my usual, zonebar for breakfast, turkey sandwich and yogurt for lunch, and then Lipton Thai Noodles for dinner. Those noodles probably aren't the best for me, but they're cheap, and *goooood*, and I only had 1 serving, which is like 240 calories.

I did go to the gym as well. I felt a little sluggish at first, possibly because of my day off, but once I got going, everything went great. I did 20 minutes of cardio, then 30 minutes of weights.

I've got my gym cloths packed, and I'll be heading back to the gym tonight. It really is becoming an addiction. :D

Chris, that is so awesome. :) I'm so glad you feel hooked on the gym, that's a great addiction to have!! ;)

And as Dr. Phil tends to say, we replace one habit with another.. so perhaps instead of eating, you're exercising.. err at least thats what I think I'm doing! :)

Morning Tempest,
Good to see you made last nights workout. Keep it up, thats one addiction to be proud of.
I cant wait till the weather gets just a tad warmer up here, I really have the urge to start jogging--burn some of my new found energy:rolleyes:

Ill check in later.....Cabana

Good going getting back to the gym! Isn't it great to know that you can take a day off here and there, and still get right back into a routine? I know for me, if I stopped doing something (eating right or exercising) even one day, I was likely to stop altogether. Now, I don't feel that way anymore. I can not exercise for a day or have a cheat meal and still feel in control and get right back at it the next day. For me, that is a great feeling.

Have a good work out tonight! You're doing great! :)

Hey Tempest,
Just checkin' in. Did you make it to the gym last night? Have a great weekend...I'll check in later......Cabana:)

Yep! I went to the gym and did 20 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights. Then when I got home, my wife and I went for a walk for about an hour.

We had Chilis again for dinner last night, but this time I got the guiltless grilled chicken. It had 563 calories, which is still kinda high, but it was a nice meal and I was still under 1400 calories for the day.

Lunch will be a bit of a challenge today. Its a coworker's birthday, so we're headed to his favorite place, which only has 3 things on the menu -- roasted chicken, fried chicken, and chicken fried steak. I'm just gonna get roasted chicken and have some veggies. I'm sure I'll be picked on, but oh well! That just fuels the fire and increases my willpower! :)

A workout at the gym and a walk afterwards...thats awesome! You are so motivated and determined!

Enjoy your lunch out tomorrow. Glad they have a roasted chicken option. 3 menu choices isn't much. lol. Sounds yummy though. Don't fret what anyone might say. Funny how noone pays attention to what you are eating when you are not on a diet....but once they find out you are on a diet....they suddenly have comments to make! lol. Weird how that works.

Hope you are having a great Friday. Keep up that great work this weekend!! :)

Hi Chris, you're doin' great! :D Keep up the good choices and all the good work :D You're motorin'!! :D

Thanks everybody! I did pretty well at lunch. I had the roasted chicken, cream corn, and a some mashed potatoes. I skipped on the fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, and gravy.

I ate just enough. I probably could have eaten ALOT more, but I left a bit hungry, and now I'm satisfied, not bloated and full like everyone else that went. :p

Its still more than I would have liked to have for lunch, but its Friday, and I'm still headed to the gym after work! :D

mmmmm mashed potatoes..mmmmm

I dont splurge on em much, but ohhh i love KFC taters and gravy best of all!!! maybe Ill do that at half way mark! mmm

Wow, yeah, I guess I didn't do as well as I thought at lunch. I entered my lunch into Fitday, and it was nearly 1000 calories!

I still made better choices, but I can't even imagine what it would have been if I would have actually eaten the fried chicken, biscuits, and gravy!

Oh well, I'm gonna tack on an extra 30 minutes to my workout today.
