So, tomorrow is going to be a big day! Starting a new program that involves a change in eating as well as getting my tush up in the morning to get some cardio in! Cant wait!

Day 1!

So far so good! Here was my morning:

I woke up at 5:45 (barely-but I did!) and got my butt to the gym. here is my w/o from the morning.

Treadmill (27mins total) - I walked to warm up for about 3 mins, than started to jog at level 5. I built up from 5 to 6 during the next 22 minutes. Then walked for about 2 mins.

Bike - HIIT for 10 mins. 1 min at level 5 doing 70-80rpm/1 min at level 8 doing 100-110 rpm. Then cool down for 5 mins.

I did 5 mins of core and 5 mins of abs then stretched.

( I am thinking that since my mornings will always be cardio, I will always do abs/core with it)

Food:

7:30 - two strips of grilled chicken (about 4 oz) and most of 1 apple (very full feeling)
8:30 - got to work (felt very very tired) had cup of coffee (half coffee half vanilla soy milk)

I have also had 22 oz of water so far today.

I have chicken with me to make a chicken salad for lunch. NOt sure about the dressing yet. I also have two boiled eggs with me for a snack before that, and peanuts (half cup) for an afternoon snack, and some extra chicken for before I go home, just in case. I am also thinking I wil have some green tea later, and I have chicken soup to come home to because my brother is sick and my mom has already made it. (lots of chicken huh?) hmmm...thats all for now. Oh, and when I get home I am going back to the gym to do weights. I am thinking lower body today. I will get back later on what I am planning on doing exactly. I am also very open to any ideas.
 
yup loads of chicken but u will be amazed that when u have had your meals u wont want to binge on any suagary stuff,it will give u a full feeling,and u will stay away from crap:)
a high protein diets make u gain muscles and they break into cals very slowly so all day long u dont feel hungry and ,it provides u energy when u need it...
working out in the morning is great do drink your water before cardios,or eat a small snack if u can manage to digest ..if i eat anything before morning workouts ,it makes me sick as a dog,:D

Yeah! I definitely notice not being as hungry as I usually am all the time haha. I do not like to eat before morning cardio for the same reason Slim. I did drink at least 8 oz before and right after though. I also had 2 hard boiled eggs within the past 30 mins. My lunch is at noon (in 4o mins). What I am not sure the dressing to have...I have to go check out what is here because I forgot about that part...=) Thanks Sadie for all of this! you rock!
 
Yup, chicken is good - just remember to get it (or make it) skinless as that's where the fat comes in. Keep up your momentum into Day 2 and beyond.
 
I ended up having a chicken salad with ff italian dressing. Still feeling good, kinda tired (but I think its because Im bored) and my water is up to 40 oz. today...and going strong! I was going to have some peanuts for a snack later, but they are soooo fattening! Is it worth the protein?
 
Nuts have the good kind of fats that the body needs to do its thing - just need to be very careful about the quantity you eat. I have 1 ounce of nuts (usually almonds) per day, along with my cottage cheese, for a big protein boost around 3:30pm.
 
Yup it helps keep me full, and fuels me for my 2nd exercise session (cardio, and whatever classes i'm taking that day). I think it's a cup of cottage cheese , low fat of course (if you needed the other serving size).

And if you're wondering how much an ounce is, get yourself a small (food) scale and weigh it out - you'd be surprised how your perception varies from day to day.
 
Ah yes, it's not as small as you think it is. Take the chicken for example, 4z of chicken has 125 calories and I can usually get 4-5 pieces and that feels me up.
 
tonight's lifting

yum! everything sounds good! My water intake is now at 54oz. I am heading home in about 45 mins and am off to the gym. Here is what I am thinking:

Squats (with back against a ball) - Reps of 18/15/13 weghts of 15/15/20lbs (see how i feel)

Leg Press - same reps, not sure of weight yet...gotta check it out.

Hamstring curl - each leg done separately. same reps at 15/20/25 lbs

Leg Extensions - each leg done separately. same reps at 20/20/30 lbs

Calf Raises. Three sets of 20 on each calf separately.

All of the weights i have put done are just estimates...I will let you know what I really do later! =) okay! thats it!
 
My previous workout started with ball squats - first time I did them my quads were stiff and sore for the next couple of days - but they really work.
 
yeah those are great. I finally got myself a ball for home cause I felt dorky at the gym :) now I can fall off it in the privacy of my own four walls :D haha
but yes, ball squats. ouch.

Heh I damn near did that today (fell off the ball) - was doing oblique twists and I guess I twisted a bit too far to the left lol... but I didn't go under - go me lol...

Yeha, those ball squats are great arent they? The first time I did them, I definitely put way too much weight in my hands and went all out...haha. I remember not being able to walk downstairs for days! ANyhow, here was my real w/o:

5 min. jog for warm up.

Ball Squats: Reps - 18/15/13 weights - 17.5/17.5/17.5
Leg Extensions: Reps (each leg sep.) 15/13/13 weights - 15/22.5/22.5
Hamstring Curl: Reps (each leg sep) 18/15/13 weights - 20/20/20
leg press/toe extensions: Reps - 18/15/13 weights - 115/122.5/135

thats it! then I came home, had a bowl of chicken/veggie soup and a nectarine. Honestly, I am hungry, but am not planning on eating.

Oh!!! get this! so my brother has been at home sick the past couple of days. So After I was done working out, he wanted me to go grab some cookies from the best bakery every! Right after I worked out! anyhow, they are sitting in my kitchen, and I wont even go close to them. my mouth is watering just writing this. But honestly, I dnot want them! I had a great day of working out and eating healthy and just dont want to ruin it!

I do have one problem, my fat intake was pretty high today! It was 48% of the day! I ate 1146 calories. I wrote everything I ate down today in the journal, so if there are any comments, let me know. ALso, my protein was up and my carbs were down so that was good...
