cherry garcia's diary

I'm actually sao excited to start taking my boyfriend's mp3 player with me to gym (I just renewed my membership this week). I have been exercising and running without music for the last year or so, and I remember the energy and oomph that music gave me back in the days I did run with music.... So excited I might just go for a short run tonight just to listen to music, eeeeee!!!! After the yoga class that is :) I love the gym :D

Have a good day!
:waving:

Did you find any nice music for your ipod? Any recommendations? I never feel like listening to any of the music on mine anymore, I usually just watch my TV podcasts -- a great distraction on the crowded subway.

So 2 classes back to back huh? That is really pushing yourself HARD! Be proud!

what kind of music do you like?
hey mike, i mostly like hip hop and rnb, and some soft rock too....and i confess i've started listening to some pop music recently, it's like it's everywhere these days...lol!

Yeah, I agree Cherry, if you have good music, the time goes by much faster because you're having fun.

I'm thinking about taking an ipod to Curves with me. Sometimes I like the music they play, but sometimes its kinda questionable. Sometimes they play Christian music. I'm not really religious, so it's kinda awkward for me. The beat is okay though, but it's still weird.
hey dreamingblue, maybe try the workout with ipod and see if it makes a difference...i know the music they play in my gym is absolute crap! plus it's like the same cd over and over which drives me crazy but doesn't seem to bother anyone else...lol! hence the ipod.

hey ankebuzz! good stuff! i know, something about music just makes it all different, just like you say it gives any workout the oomph factor!

hey blancita, i think it depends on what you like and make sure it's upbeat and fast too, i have a few times made the mistake of putting some slow music on it only to regret when on the treadmill because it's like my body starts to switch off...which i find very interesting...but once something loud and fast comes on then i'm all pumped up again.

okay today is another good day for me (thank goodness because the past week was crazy)...it's actually a major milestone because i've now broken the first 10kgs off marker, that is, i've currently lost 10.4kgs and now firmly in the 320's. i'm NEVER going back to the 330's ever again. 20 more pounds to go before i get out of the 300 club....it's a looong road, but this girl ain't givin up!

Yeaaaaaaaaah! You will be out of the 300's before you know it, Cherry. Especially with your attitude and determination!

I'd be lost at the gym without my ipod. Music is what helps me kick ass, and strangely enough I listen to music that I probably wouldn't otherwise listen to all that much. Sometimes I play Disturbed's "Down with the Sickness" on repeat. lol.

Yey for the new low! That is great that you do classes, I am nto a very good class person. I like real dance classes (I used to dance full time for a year and I loved "master classes") but I just don't like aerobic type classes. I like my own rythm I guess and not the pressure of others watching me.

And I have the ultimate crap taste in music! I like country (newly discovered and not really work out music) and I like high school musical type pop (teenage pop), so my ipod is full of crap! But whatever gets your booty moving, right?

Have a wonderful weekend,
Camy

thanks ymcachick! hehehe by the way i do the same exact thing if there's a good song on i'll hit repeat like 5 or 6 times to keep me going.

thanks for the encouragement cord! yep, getting out of club 300 will be my next major milestone....can't wait!
All Right!

Great going, sweetheart! The 330's are history!

Can't wait until you get out of the 300's.

thanks dreamingblue!

Congrats, that is sooooo great.

thanks camy for checking in! i totally understand what you mean, i guess it's different for everyone, i think for me i like the class environment because it's like i don't want to fail and so always go from start to finish and give my 100%. wow, when i get to my goal weight i'd love to do dance classes, i'll definitely ask you how/where to start.

hehehe, so your into country now, nice (once in a while i like to listen to some good ol john denver because it reminds me of my childhood), but i'm guessing your listening to something a little more mordern. i totally know what you mean about the teenage pop music...sadly i'm a victim too ...lol!, i know it's crap but sometimes the beat is really good and makes you want to keep moving....and just like you say, thats what matters, the music that'll keep you moving right!

okay, today was yet another gruelling day, i did:

-60min treadmill (on steep incline but moderate pace) and then another
-60min treadmill (on steep incline but slow pace)

i guess because of all the weight i'm carrying, whenever i do the steep incline, even though i'm walking slow my heart rate goes up and i keep it above 140 and sometimes gets to 150. it gets me sweating which basically gets the job done. with time i'm hoping i can increase speed slightly on it. eventually i'd like to join the rest of the crew with HIIT on the treadmill but that's a looong way away for me. untill then it's just me and my incline.

tomorrow is my rest day...woohoo!

Ya know, I'm thoroughly impressed that you workout for 2 hours! It's truly amazing. I can barely do 30 minutes. lol Keep it up girly :D

I agree with, Dreamingblue. I am so impressed, Cherry! Well done pushing yourself to such levels. 2 hours of walking on the treadmill on any incline is a job, especially when overweight. I really commend you for pushing forward and gutting it out. Keep up the great work because before you know it, you'll find even more strength that you didn't know you had! :)

Cherry, You GO Girl!! WOw, your amazing with your work-outs. Truely and inspiration to me. You are doing so well. I can actually feel the excitement building in you every day with your posts. Your doing it!! You Are Doing IT! Doesn't that just give you the most amazing feeling. Your not waiting.. your there!

thanks dreamingblue! it's hard but i'm really trying.

thanks for all the support ymcachick! i'm really trying to hang in there because this time round i'm in it for the long-term...i want to start living life as i want to and not be controlled by my weight, so even though everyday is a struggle i just keep pushing on.

i just wrote this in someones diary and remembered i've never jotted it down in mine so here it is:-
==========

by the way, i just thought i should add that daily i take a whole bunch of tablets, i'm not suggesting anyone do the same (since i'm no qualified medic or dietician or anything), but just thought i should jot it down anyway: daily i take:-

-a vitamin c effervescent tablet
-a multivitamin/multimineral tablet
-a cod liver oil tablet (it has omega-3 fish oil which is good for the body and joints too)
-a glucosamine/chondroitin tablet (glucosamine is a supplement that is supposedly good for maintaining healthy joints and i'm just taking it as i know how my joints get quite beat up after every workout, i get it from the local grocery store's vitamin/mineral section, i also googled it to be sure).
-i also take an evening primrose oil tablet during that time of the month because it supposedly helps, but i still get bad cramps anyway :(

sometimes it's like i go to the multivitamin/mineral section and there's like a hundred things there that are all supposedly 'good for you' and i'm always left thinking surely i can't take a hundred tablets a day...lol! so i just limit it to not more than 5 a day as mentioned above. otherwise i eat lots of fruit and veges since they have all the vits/mins in good raw natural form.

was just curious what other vitamin/mineral supplements other people take?

I'm glad I'm not the only one on the vitamins. My friends always joke that I should rattle with the amount of pills I pop. Do they have an obvious effect on you? Normally I take

a multivitamin & mineral
Cod liver oil
Apple cider vinegar
Green tea - occasionally. I tray and drink the tea but if I haven't had that much I take a pill.
Sea Kelp - occasionally boosts metabolism
Collagen - skin, hair and nail boost. I don't take these all the time cos the pills are enormous and I hate swallowing them.
Acidpholus (sp) I like this when I've eaten something dodgy, it calms my stomach.
Vitamin B comples (berocca) when I need the energy.

There are a couple more such as echinacea but these are only taken if I get ill.

On another note you are doing sooo very well. I would love to exercise as much as you. I'm going to check out the local gyms next week - you are my inspiration :)

hey girl,
thanks for stopping by, and let me start by saying whew! i thought i was the only one taking a few tablets so i'm glad to see i'm not...lol! i forgot that i also have one called skin, hair and nails.

to be honest i can never quite tell the difference if they have an effect or now whether i'm taking them or not taking them, but i just do anyway just in case they help from the inside out.

about the exercise, thanks for the compliment! just a few months ago you couldn't have paid me enough money to join a gym...then i told myself it's the only way i'm going to get myself active again....so i braced myself, checked out some gyms and just started, i didn't care whether people stared at me or not, i just carried my ipod to block out all the stares!...2 months later it's the best decision i ever made and have never looked back! you can do it girl!

Lol, I'm just the same. I'm scared not to take them now incase my body needs them and I get ill from not taking them. I think the Multivit helps - I'm training to be a teacher and I used to get colds all the time from being around children. Since I started taking them religiously I haven't had one. Also the Vit B really does give me an energy boost.

Just noticed that give or take a lb you are almost the exact same weight as me!
