Cate's Diary

Cate I think our numbers will rise again too . My office is nearly back to full capacity. It’s not good . It’s hard to shift a few lbs weight . I know you eat healthy and exercise. I’m kind of the same and it’s just not wanting to leave me . Still we live a healthy and happy life and that is more important.

I was ignoring the elephant in the room, which I thought was me.
:rotflmao:

Here things opened up around a month ago and our numbers are still stable, despite a large protest in support of BLM 10 days ago. (Which right-wing critics said would put us back to square one. The same right-wing critics who have been screaming about their rights being infringed on by the lockdown all this time by the way. Funny how that goes.) I guess it´s because the government reacted very early and things started out very strict so we only have 420 or so people currently infected in a country of 9 million. And so few deaths (681 so far, most of them in the first month) there´s no significant difference compared to the same time last year. As long as people at least stay careful when they have symptoms we may be ok until autumn, when people start congregating in closed spaces again. Or maybe when we start having regular large gatherings again, but I don´t know when that will be.

Thanks, Liza. It was such a lovely day.
Hi, Petal. It is a real concern, but we can only do what we can do. Living a healthy & happy life sounds just perfect to me.
Hi, LaMa. I'm glad you get my whacky sense of humour :)
I wanted to march for BLM here, but decided against it only because I knew that being out in the cold night air would aggravate my Asthma & further compromise my lungs, which have been weakened by having Pneumonia twice.
We can only hope that people stay safe & be careful ourselves.

I think there's a time and place for marches, and the middle of a pandemic is not one of them. No matter how noble the cause.

Glad you have got your mojo back again. All sounds good to me.

Hi, Em. We don't have any active cases in Tasmania, but the thought came to me that so many people have risked their own lives to care for others & they would be wondering why they bothered. I emailed my MP instead.
Rob's question gave me a prod & that was good. Often things are better than you imagine. If I had gained weight I would not have got back on track. Seeing a loss spurred me on. Funny things, brains :D
We're having 3 recliner chairs delivered today. They require some putting together

I generally enjoy putting together furniture/fitness gear. Maybe because I rarely get the satisfaction that comes with building something.

That makes a lot of sense to me. It's always so encouraging and motivating to see the numbers going down!

And you are not someone who needs to risk being in a crowd now, good decision.

I am with LaMa on the chairs, I enjoy building things. Have fun putting them together! And good to hear that you are getting back on track!

I usually get stressed out trying, but these chairs were so simple to put together it was ridiculous

Very true. It has been a while.

Probably none of us should risk being in a crowd. I think I would be happy to never be in a crowd ever again.
I hate assembling furniture, but this came in 2 pieces : blush5:
Assembling furniture is something that I know will end up in shouting matches in my
future, lol. Best of luck with it Cate.
No shouting, Em. Just a quandary now on where I put everything. I decided to keep our 2 old recliners, so now we have 6 comfy lounge chairs & 2 others that will stay. It's the look I have to get right. We have to be able to see our birdbaths etc & my brain won't rest until it looks right. If R was here we would get it right quickly.

Had quite a busy day with furniture moving & a visit from G's brother & SIL. Then I took Archie for a decent walk. He is sleeping (or being quiet in his crate) from 11 pm to almost 7.30 most nights.
Our new chairs are not as comfortable as our old. They were about 1/4 the price. Maybe it will get me up and about more. The old ones are ok to have as spares, but they crack & creak when they are reclined & they need some arm and head covers. I'm going to have to rearrange again! :svengo:

:p White crocheted ones? I had a great aunt who put little crocheted covers on everything. Not the same great aunt who'd materialize beside you to check for crumbs every time you got up but very much the same mindset. Then again: if you're childless in a world which values women only as mothers and housewives it may not be strange to become a bit hyperfocused on neatness. Don't mean you with that, just rambling based on sudden memories.

Maybe the new chairs will just need to be worn in a bit like new shoes?? I don't know--I don't think I've ever had new furniture so not sure if it works the same!

I've just been through about a week of rearranging and de-cluttering my place and am finally at an almost happy place with mine. It does feel satisfying when you finally get it right!

Or maybe just all the ones who become mothers just finally realize that they cannot stay focused on neatness while raising little munchkins who love to mess everything up. I've seen a few people give up their super neat and tidy tendencies once they had kids :)

I think sometimes its just a matter of what you are used to. My most comfortable chairs are my oldest ones. These days however no chair is as comfortable as it used to be, my backside padding is gone.

I can’t wait to get a new couch or two as I hate the ones we have now . But I can’t justify changing them . My favourite chair is a recliner . Well done on seeing a loss on the scales Cate
