Cate's Diary

Archie sat on my lap for most of the evening & seemed really happy. When we put him in his crate with a doggy chew & we went to bed it was a different story. For about 15 mins I thought we would not get any sleep as he really carried on a treat. I came out a couple of times & patted him through the bars & he settled down after about 30 mins & just whimpered every now & then for about an hour or so. I woke up before him at 7 & made a little noise on purpose just getting into my dressing gown & slippers & came out & he was sitting there quietly. That was so good. I'm glad he didn't bark. I think we'll be able to train him. So far, so good. It's too cold to leave the sliding door open, but we did for hours last night. He's currently lying down next to G on his recliner.
Here are some before pics-

Aren't you instantly a 100 times happier?
I have thought about getting a pet too. In time.

It's amazing how he's warmed up to you & G so fast.

oh my goodness--he's sooooo cute!!!!!!!!
I hope he gives you an easier time at night soon, which i imagine he will once he gets to know his home. Sounds like a really good little dog, waiting silently and patiently for you.
He has settled in amazingly well! Last night he just had a little complain for about 10 mins & we didn't hear from him again until he heard me up & about at 7.15. Good boy!
Poor little thing, so scared still. But I´m sure he´ll soon learn he´s as safe in your house as he is with you. He does look like he´s as ready for a haircut as I was!
He wasn't at all scared, LaMa. I think he seemed indignant that he was shut in a crate. "This is not the vets!" He is so scruffy though. I don't think he has had a haircut for a year or more
Great looking dog!
I am sure you will enjoy each other.
He's just lovely, Rob. A real little character.

We're amazed too, Misty. He has just instantly adjusted to us. It helps that he doesn't have anyone bullying him of course.
Last night I had diarrhea & still do a bit this morning. I think it may be a reaction to some delicious bread that R made that we had on Sat & then again last night. I don't usually eat wheat. I'll stay away from it again. The women are going to go out for a hit of golf again today, but I won't. I would rather stay home with an upset stomach. We'll see if we can get Archie booked in for a groom. We also need to have his microchip details changed. I'll call the vet soon.
It's my birthday today.
Archie is the best birthday present ever :beating:

Lovely that he's settling in so quick!

Happy Birthday to you Cate. Hope you have/had a really great little celebration.:party:

Good boy indeed, that´s wonderful!

I am
Sorry if I’m late to the party Cate but a very belated happy birthday . My emojis not working so dancing faces for you lol

Hi, Sadie, Vic & Petal. I had a really nice birthday, thank you. I got lots of calls & messages & even was serenaded by my golfing buddies. It was sweet!
I got a really good night's sleep & Archie only whimpered a bit for about 10 mins again. He is a very good boy :beating:
He's booked in for a haircut this morning at 8, so we are up early. I have been snuffly & I think it's because he is in desperate need of a wash & trim. I'll take my own doggy shampoo(fragrance-free).

A birthday! :party:Happy birthday, though a touch late. :) And what a gorgeous birthday present! I love the whole sound of how well he's taken to you (and vice-versa!)

Hi, 101 & Amy. Archie is at the vet's now & we are back home. They'll ring when he's ready. I'm going to get him a coat when I pick him up as he'll be cold on walks without one as I think they need to shave him totally unfortunately as he's so matted in close to his skin. I'll groom him regularly, so that shouldn't happen again.
My birthday was lovely thank you :)

That is too bad that he'll have to be completely shaved. Do you know how long it takes a dog to grow back a bit of a proper coat again?
Well hopefully you won't be snuffly around him now at least!
I hope you post a picture of him in his new coat!
