Thanks, everyone. I have got myself in a state about this. We are going to email the secretary of the NSW club about our concerns. One of the other states has emailed him saying they are not going & they think they should be cancelled.
Meanwhile, I'm going to bed now & have to be up early & am in town tomorrow while G helps with a different tournament. We'll send the email as soon as we get home. We then go out to the final of G's pool comp.

Thanks, Petal, Rob, LaMa, Amy & Liza. We are not going. We'll lose a few things, probably about $2,000 worth, but our health is more important than money. I feel very much relieved. Went I went into town today the antibacterial stuff being used everywhere affected me badly. That just gave me an inkling of how travel would feel. Poor G. He's asleep in his chair & it's mid-afternoon. This has been really stressful for both of us &, of course for many other people.
I will take him out to his 8-ball final tonight & try to relax. We have notified everyone we needed to I think & I have applied for travel vouchers for the airlines. Our friends may still stay in the house we had booked or they may stay elsewhere. Depending on that I will get some money back or all of it.
I'm too exhausted to get around the diaries today. I'll have plenty of time from now on.
 
Cate I am sorry you might lose some cash but I am so so so happy you are staying at home. You would have been what I call a " stressed mess " .
 
I think a "stressed mess" would have been an understatement, Petal. The trip would have cost us a lot more (in both money & weight probably)

His team was beaten tonight by a young team that we like. They were really thrilled.
Today I discovered that someone had placed a small rosebud under my rear windscreen wipers. As we were leaving tonight I was asked if I liked my flower. How sweet! Apparently it was put there on Sunday.

That´s adorable! Good to know people are trying to brighten up your day amidst this chaos.

Cate, I think you made the right decision. A trip like that would not be enjoyable for you with the way things are at the moment. Now please, put all the worry and panic aside and try to stay in the present moment! Easier said than done I know. :)
 
Cate, I am sure you made the right decision. A lot of people are faced with tough decisions right now, good to see that you are handling your's as well as can be expected.

I guess we are living in interesting times, maybe too interesting right now.

LaMa- It was really sweet!
Em- No, it wasn't G. It's the son of one of my golfing buddies. He lives down the road from us & has helped us out a few times with little jobs. I am really going to try to stop worrying so much now. There is no point. Our son & his GF may be coming up to stay for a couple of nights as a wedding they were meant to be going to is now doubtful. That will be lovely if it happens.
Rob- I am sure too. Our home is much safer than anywhere.

I have still been suffering from my trip into town yesterday so hate to think about how I would have been if we travelled on planes. They have been spraying them extensively. I am aching from head to toe, have had a sore throat all week & have a headache. I don't have a temp though. I'm sure mine is an allergy response.
 
Very glad about the decision to not go Cate. Nobody needs any added stress at this point!

... and maybe keep some distance from your son snd his girlfriend if they do come visit. Just to be on the safe side. I'm glad you have a safe place with clean air to withdraw to :grouphug:

I understand the sentiment, LaMa, but that won't happen. I am so in need of a great big hug from our son!
